My mind constantly races with the unknown as does the minds of most everyone. This is natural how we seek to know the truth and insight of those we care about. Even those we show interest in. I can honestly say that all of 2008 has been the most stressful time in my life. It can only get better, right? So easily our confidence is shattered with the unknown. Where does that strength come from when rock bottom is so clearly in sight? Even at the age of 29 that wisdom is blurry, to grab tightly onto the security we all wish to fathom.

I hurt. I love. I seek. I desire. Never before have I found such a desire to know the mind and the reality of this heart that brings laughter and a sense of hope. Lately it’s becoming more clear that this isn’t how we wished for it to be.

Call me possessive or maybe obsessed. But it comes with a healthy mind and a strong heart. I carry this willing passion to achieve a position with this heart. Though the world brings it’s mighty blows I carry on. I pursue with understanding and sensitivity to be enough strength for the world to step aside.

Do you know what I want? I want you. I would like to have you. To be the only one to receive such words and to have them reciprocated. I will only want what is willing to give. And sometimes I’ll want what isn’t willing to give, but I’ll understand if you just say something with sustenance.

I’ll leave 2008 in it’s wake only showing little ripples here and there of it’s past. Eventually they disapear and wither away. I’ll leave New York with a greater interest and ability to raise and love my son. You’re my one and only, Landon. Life has handed some blows that kept you from me. Selfish reasons have kept you from me. Lies have kept you from me. But you will know this one day and you will see daddy’s over-powering love shine through for you. I’ve been given an example on how life should be lived and I will pass this onto you.

In the immediate unknown is the interest I seek. Frustration and hurt follows that on an unmentionable scale. Other’s influence this and it breaks me. It’s the quietness that I’m discontent with. You are loved.

Little do we as civilians know the trauma and heroism that goes on in the heat of battle. The likely hood of a solder realizing the reality of things present in battle may not come until the battle is over. A strange and erie silence looms over fields stained red after the smoke clears, the screams silence, and the moans simmer below the wind and birds. The reality is that death will happen whether deliberate or natural. But no man or woman is born into this world knowing that one day they too will be the cause of a loss, a loved one, and a tormented mind-crazed terrorists. We shed blood for our God and for our pride in our nation.

So many times I wish I was alive during the second world war and of age to be a part of it. Not to witness the death, but to know the men and women of that day which sacrificed all they had for so few. And I’d gather those who’ve passed during that war and place them in a large room. One by one I’d ask them to describe their intents, their last moments, every memory they had that gave them peace and hope when all was lost. This would surely impact even the most naive from the dawn of age to the future coming.

I watched this video with toys and I learned more emotion with the knowledge of another impeding onto me. “Who said toys were just for kids?”, said the creator of this film. Imagine the satisfaction a solder had when he found a stick resembling a human figure and allowed his imagination to run as he too made a toy from it. It’s a mad world.

MySpace.com, News Corp.'s social-networking Web site, will begin a global redesign next week to increase traffic from existing users and draw new ones.

The redesign includes a home-page makeover, navigation changes and an overhaul of the site's search tool and MySpaceTV player, the company said Friday in a statement. The first phase begins Wednesday, the company said.

News Corp., which bought MySpace for $580 million in 2005, is seeking to increase advertising revenue on the site by attracting new users. The media company said in April it will miss a 2008 goal of $1 billion in sales for Fox Interactive Media, which includes MySpace. Last month, New York-based researcher EMarketer said MySpace may have lower-than-predicted sales this year because of the slowing economy. MySpace said "a major advertiser" agreed to take over the site's home page on the first day of the new redesign. Company spokeswoman Dani Dudeck declined to identify the advertiser.
ShareThis

Sometimes you can’t do everything yourself. You don’t have the budget to launch a big marketing campaign. Or you don’t even know where to start. One of the best ways to promote your website or business is to work together with others to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

The legal form of this is known as a joint venture, where two or more parties create a new entity by contributing equity and sharing revenue, expenses and control. Another form of collaboration is known as a strategic alliance, whereby the parties involved pursue common goals while remaining as independent organizations.

No matter what you call it, collaboration with others will benefit you in ways that go beyond what you can do on your own. Think about it. Each involved party comes with their own established audience, reputation, brand, networks and strengths. Some of them may overlap with your own but usually, they’ll reach people or own assets you don’t.

Some people may have more media contacts. Some may have a specific skill (e.g. design, programing) and others have an audience or customer base that you’re trying to reach. Partnering with them for short or long-term initiatives is a smart way to promote your business, on top of all the online marketing that you’re already doing.

How can you collaborate? The possibilities are endless. For example, you can run joint contests/competitions, set up incentivized referral networks, promote a co-op web product, create content together, exchange ad space or trade skills for exposure. There are many ways to collaborate for mutual benefits. It’s just about finding what works for you.

So how do you get started? Four simple steps:

Identify your goals. This is what you want to get out of the collaboration. Your goals will determine who you should work with and having a clear idea of what you want from the beginning will give you an immediate idea of what kind of marketing strategy you want to take, and hence who is most suitable for you.

Determine what you can offer. Make a list of benefits you can offer to the opposite party. For example you might have specific personal skills or a website with a built-in audience. Perhaps you’re launching a new product and give away free samples of it away. In other words, this list consists of what you can do for the other parties.

Create a List of Potential Collaborators. Start writing down a list of people you want to work with based on your goals, what you can offer and who you think will be potentially interested. Make the list broad: there’ll always be people who’ll turn you down so you want as many secondary options as possible.

Pitch the people involved. Draft up an email template and send it off to the people on your list. Try to customize your pitch by using each recipient’s name and including unique information/comments. Keep the emails short and frame them in terms of benefits. Alternatively, try pitching over the phone or a face-to-face meeting. Remember to follow up before permanently striking a recipient off from your collaborators list.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. There’s no harm in reaching out to people, all you have to risk is your pride. When it comes to partnerships, you’ll be surprised with the people who will be interested in working together. Don’t automatically write yourself off, especially you have something valuable to offer to another party.

If you’ve never tried any strategic collaborations before, why not start today?

Over the past several months I have just been getting by with a cheap mouse pad (from dell of all places) which has begun to crack and slide all over the place. I have a smoke tinted glass desk which causes a problem for any optical or laser mouse since the eye can’t see itself in the glass. Essentially I needed a new mouse pad and I didn’t want something that looked like poo. So I ordered one from Func Industries and it arrived yesterday. Wow, what a difference. It’s like they were made for each other and the little teflon shoes on the bottom of the mouse glide effortlessly across this pad. Well, see for your self what it looks like.

It’s made of an aluminum base. The gray insert is reversible with a very smooth side for graphic design accuracy, and a suede-like side for gaming.

Also, I picked up a Creative Zen 16Gb MP3 player (among other features) which is blowing my mind currently. The iPod has nothing on this little unit except for maybe capacity. Then again I got the small unit which is fine by me. I’m not limited to iTunes, in fact I don’t even use iTunes (neither should you) or limewire.

To say the least I am quite happy with both purchases. Google payed for them with Adsense. Thanks, Google!

Remember back in early March when I posted this article about Intelligent Adsense? I was working on a site design which adhered to the name of the domain. It was evident at the time that it was a good hit. I had a few good discussions about the site and I had a decent CPM and CTR. Initially I was thinking of just leaving the site as is but then I saw an immediate decline from traffic. Not only that but some people commented on how the contrast was difficult to endure. The idea was great, but the visual appeal was terrible. So what did I do? I redesigned it.

I gathered some of the best information about CPM, CTR, CPC, PPC, and SEO and really tried to simplify things for those interested in getting into the Google Adsense program. So many are clueless when it comes the the benefits of social marketing that it’s as though they’re scared. I even came across someone on YouTube that thought it costs money to get into the program. Google offers this as a free service and this person paid someone around $100.00 to get into it and never progressed any further. Yeah, look out for those wackos.

The other thing that bothers me about niche sites which claim to help people with their Adsense management is the fact that they do nothing for the viewer of that page… at all. Those niche sites want you to buy their ebook, download their dvd of success stories, and even attend their web seminars. Yes, they want to make a few dollars here and there from helpless souls like the one mentioned above while leaving a bad taste in that person’s emouth. Seriously I wish people understood the great opportunity that Google Adsense offers to everyone free of charge.

I created i-adsense.com to bring the simple management of setting up your own adsense environment for those who really have no clue what to do, or how to even approach it. Since the service is offered freely to me I too want to offer the knowledge I have free to everyone else.

So I redesigned the site to make it more visually appealing, easier to navigate, and most importantly easy to understand it’s purpose. I will be building upon the knowledge I have with Adsense and continue to offer my help to anyone free of charge. Also, there is a special offer for those who wish to advertise on i-adsense.com. Go check it out!

Roughly 18 months ago talks were made with a local Real Estate business in the small town of Delhi, NY about redesigning their current webpage. At first the discussion was about a possible new host provider in that their current one was not benefiting their business. I have this chip on my shoulder for clean and bold websites. Their existing design at the time though unique, was full of browser incompatibilities. An old format of flash was their primary form of navigation. The listing page was actually a separate page all together and it’s style did not match their site as a whole. I can go on and on about the designer’s flaws, but I won’t. And, there were many other questionable things they wanted to discuss about their site. They asked me to help them out and I was happy to.

Since by trade I am a building contractor I always approach a job no matter the size with a formal contract. These contracts always are discussed and re-written with the client before a signature is made from either party. Folks, always write a contract! I am so glad I did because I could have really dug myself a hole with this design. Fortunately I was dealing with very respectable people and we both saw eye to eye with the objective before us.

Here is a screen capture of the home page they had/have:

Here is a screen capture of their Listing Page (notice any similarities? Me neither):

Here is the design I came up with (beta):

This is a working demo of my design. Might I suggest you have the latest updates with your browser for best experiencing my design. Keep in mind it was/is only a beta design and not officially released.

With that said… I was paid generously for the services I had done on this template. I am disappointed we hadn’t moved forward with my design. It runs on a rather extensive MySQL database with an administration backend which makes updating and listing work like a charm. Since the economy here in NY slowed down to the consistency of frozen molasses they told me the switch over could not be done. I was saddened by their decision not because of the money, but because they have to endure what they currently have as a website, and remain with their current host. I last spoke to them back in January and it appears this project is no more. I think I will bundle this site, strip the title, and offer it as a package to other real estate businesses around the area. When viewing the current sites for real estate companies I am shocked at how poorly they’re done. I take pride in my design, and the web standard initiative.
There’s money to be had here!
