Brace yourself. The season of negativity has officially begun. Now that Republicans have kicked off the primaries in Iowa and New Hampshire we are locked into full presidential race mode. I’m relieved. There’s only so much waiting and anticipating a person can handle, and the pre-pre-pre race speculation was getting tiresome. Now at least we are able to see something concrete.

Our Excellent Holiday Vacation

I still have a holiday break hangover. But it’s a different kind of hangover. This year I’m not staring at the crispy, dry remains of an overladen tree, or spending hours packing and storing decorations and ornaments in special places around the house. Instead I’m at the gym, whimpering as my sweetly sadistic trainer Michelle tries to undo the damage three weeks of nonstop eating indulgence can do to a body. Oh, it hurts.

It’s a good time for Thanksgiving. We’re heading toward the end of the year, and a lot of folks are ready for some cheer. This holiday season is going to be a bit strange for our family, with my son a senior in high school. I feel as if we are all in transition. It’s made me a little grumpy. So have events that have been blaring from TVs, computers and radios. I may have to work hard to get in the mood. So here goes my attempt at some pre-holiday cheer.
