It seems pretty commonplace for rappers to brag about the quality of their rhymes. Though some find this group monstrously obnoxious, in this song they compare their rapping to a famous type of wine from the Southeast France.

Hey KIDS, did you know “country wine” refers to homemade wine made from fruit other than wine grapes? Well, this country song refers to just such a beverage. It’s also not uncommon for a country singer to mention his trusty hound in the song.

This past weekend, we helped Woods Humane Society raise a lot of money for their Wine4Paws fundraiser. And we feel pretty good about it. In fact it got us thinkin’ about all kinds of things that are worthwhile. Back in 1972, this chart-topping country artist sung a good story, based on an actual conversation, about three things that make life worth livin’.

This obscure band formed in the North, their one big hit was about a lady down South, and yet their name comes from a completely different time zone. You can see where Blue Oyster Cult got the idea for more cowbell by the way this song begins.

Our hero in the song is smitten by a gal who lives on a boat. He treats her like royalty and he thinks she cuts a rug better after she’s had some vino.

I think Todd was nine or ten that year, too early for his own Papa to teach him the hazards of life.
