3 weeks ago, we came across this stunning photo of Framework magazine's editor in chief Bria Lear wearing our Mini Carré in Red & pink around her wrist and a matching red lipstick.

Inspired, we decided to publish a HOW TO post, but this time, it will be about lip and nail colours that team up well with all 6 of our limited edition mini squares.

We asked Hair & Makeup artist Keely Anderson from Glossed Studio for some help and we are LOVING the results! Keely hand picked some of her favourite products and chose nail and lip colours that will add more fun to your Mini Carré styling preferences.

Spring is technically around the corner, but for most of us, there is at least a couple of months to go before we get to switch to our spring wardrobe. Good thing is, we can start the shopping process! This outfit is styled for a night out or even a date. Colourful prints were seen all over the SS13 runways and printed bottoms are definitely a must have. These Philosophy Di Alberta Ferretti shorts were inspired by hand painted Mojolica Porcelain and are the outfit's focal point. Bold stripes were seen on the runways of all the big designers including Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana, Balmain. Print as a major trend is still going strong for seasons to come. For spring palettes, we saw lots of black and white together with a touch of bold colour.

If you are looking to add an edgy print to your wardrobe this season, bold stripes are the way to go! This is a print that will last you into fall, and will add a statement to your existing wardrobe. I always believed that having great basics in neutral colours is the way to go and then experimenting with colors and prints is best done with a great scarf.

Mona Sultan’s SS13 collection is all about bold stripes, and while black and white is certainly prominent, they are mixed with bright hues and interesting structure to add a modern edge to a classic outfit as well as the less conventional wardrobe.

Here, I will discuss 3 different ways of adding stripes this season to your existing closet:

1- Stripes on print

2- Stripes on Colour.

3- Add a striped scarf to your basics

The first way of working bold stripes is by mixing them with other prints. What’s nice about stripes is there ability to mix well with almost any print as long as you do it right, and the easiest way to accomplish that is by picking one common color that links the 2 prints, and you’re good to go.

Color is another great addition to your striped piece, I really like playing with contrasting colors such as blue with orange, or pink with blue, but if you are color shy, go monochromatic by adding the same color but in a different tone (dark blue with light blue).

Finally, try to give your basics a bit of oomph by going for a boldly striped scarf that has 2 or 3 colours. For more impact, try an all white or an all black look with killer heels, and I promise, you will be seen!

Stylist Elisa Nalin is in my opinion the queen of mixing patterns and colors.

I love how, in the photos above, she picked a main color to "match" 2 completely different prints. Notice how, in both outfits, she uses a pop of color to pull the whole look together.

When mixing prints, go for ones that have 1 or 2 hues in common, preferably complementary to add a little bit of contrast and edge. Then, chose the brighter one and use your accessories to create continuity (like Elisa did with the blue pumps).

Statement Scarf - At Work

Ever since I launched my line of scarves, I have been hearing more about people's dilemmas with this accessory and I am amazed at how intimidating it could be to those who have no idea how to work it. So, I decided to start a series of posts that I will publish twice a month, that demonstrate simple yet stylish ways of wearing a scarf, including tying ideas, outfit combos, color blocking tips, pattern mixing and more. So keep coming back if you feel that you are stuck in a scarf rut or even just for fresh ideas.

Today's example will show you one polished way of wearing a scarf to work in 3 easy steps.

I call this the Basic Side Knot; it is elegant and stylish and can work for both a casual and a more formal dress code.

Start with both ends of the scarf extending equally on your left and right side.

Then cross the left side over the right side and pull the left side up and through the loop around your neck. You now have a top part and a bottom part.

Cross the bottom part over the top part and once again through the loop to create a second knot.

Finally, place the knot on the right side of your neck. If you wish to have it on the left, do step 3 in reverse: cross the top part over the bottom part and through the loop to create a second knot.

Another fun aspect I always consider when wearing a scarf is color. Great color combos are essential in making an outfit stylishly your own.

Let’s take the EVELYN scarf from Mona Sultan FW12 collection as an example for color:

Honey/mustard yellow is a popular color this season and you can create an interesting yet subtle effect by combining it with a warm green. If you wish to go for an edgier look, add a deep maroon or a warm purple to the mix. For those of you who work in a more conservative environment, navy blue will create a stylish overall look without it being inappropriate.
