One of the most difficult things is life is to remain teachable.

Whenever I come across people with more life-experienced than I have, I try to listen and learn. You know there are two ways to learn things in life – the easy way and the hard way. I’ve found the leaning things the hard way always brings with if a good degree of pain, so whenever possible – I try to learn the lessons of life by looking at the lives of others – especially from the more senior citizens among us. Here’s what I’ve learned from some of my senior friends.

I’ve learned that life is like a roll of toilet paper – the closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I’ve learned that being kind is more important than being right.

I’ve learned that I should be thankful that God doesn’t give me everything I ask for.

I’ve learned that “experience” is simply the name we give our mistakes and that the only limitations in our lives – the only things that really hold us back – are the limitations we put on ourselves.

I’ve learned that a committee is a group that keeps minutes and waists hours.

I’ve learned that money doesn’t buy class and that to ignore the facts doesn’t change the facts.

I’ve learned that the Lord didn’t do everything in a single day, so what makes me think that I can?

I’ve learned that when you are in love – it always shows.

I’ve learned that its love, not time, that heals all wounds and that when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I’ve learned that under everyone’s hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

I’ve learned that some people cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go – I’d prefer to be one of the former.

I’ve learned that a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks and that everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a one.

I’ve learned that opportunities are never really lost because someone will seize the ones I miss.

I’ve learned that no one ever says; “it’s only a game” when their team is winning.

I’ve learned that life is tough, but I can be tougher.

I’ve learned that it is best give advice in only two circumstances; when it is requested and when it is a life threatening situation.

I’ve learned that we make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.

And finally, I’ve learned that I should keep my words tender because tomorrow I may have to eat them.

Have you ever failed at something important to you? Have you ever felt like a failure? Fact is, we all fail from time to time but there is a huge difference between failing and being a failure.

Those who claim to have never failed are either hopelessly delusional or playing it so safe that life’s not worth living!

I’m 60 years old so I just happen to know a little something about failure, forgiveness and the future. I’ve learned that failure is a subject that’s always unwelcome – although far to common… On the other hand, forgiveness is always welcome but far to uncommon. And the future – well, it has a way of being here before we know it. And it seems that we make our choices today and those choices turn around and make us tomorrow.

Failure is frightening, but it need not be fatal. The formula for facing failure and turning it around is found in Isaiah 43:18-19; “The Lord says, ‘Forget about what has happened before. Do not think about the past. Instead, look at the new thing I am going to do.‘”

So how do you focus on the “new” that God wants to produce in your life? The answer is:

N – NEVER LOOK BACK. Paul put this way; “I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead…” Philippians 3:13 (NLT) Looking back distracts you. Looking back slows you down. And I’ll tell you something else – when you’re looking back you can’t see where your going! And that always makes things worse!

E – ENDURE TO THE END. Jesus once said, “By perseverance you shall gain your life…” Luke 21:19 And the author of Hebrews wrote; “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Hebrews 10:36 (NIV) Endurance isn’t easy but it is essential! To fully experience the “new” that God has for you requires perseverance. You will never know the “new” God could do if you quit!

W – WATCH GOD WORK. Following tremendous failure, the Lord prompted Jeremiah to give this message to the people of Israel. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). God has a plan for you. Your life is not a string of meaningless experiences nor is it a series of accidents. Fact is, life is a series of appointments but many of us miss them because we’re not watching. God has a plan for you and that plan isn’t limited by your age, your sex, your race, or your circumstances. He not only has a plan, but that plan is good! And if God has a good plan, you know what? You can have hope.

Failure is real and we’ll all have our share of it. Forgiveness is absolute. The moment we become believers, all of our sin, past, present and future is wiped away once and for all. And your future is bright because God has a plan. That’s why you must refuse to look back, never give up and watch God work.

Why Can’t You Be Normal… Like Me?! just might be the most practical series of messages you’ll ever hear. These messages have already helped transform thousands of relationships.

Springing from the words of Jesus, Paul, and Solomon, Dave describes the God-given personality preferences present within us all. Dave is convinced that relationships often fail because we just don’t understand and appreciate the uniqueness of one another. In fact, our natural inclination is to endeavor to recreate others to fit into our own personality profile. The process is doomed to failure and will ultimately destroy relationships. These CD’s offer a better approach!

Session one and two offer a concise and insighful look at the eight basic personality preferences. These messages will help you understand the source of your emotional power, presonal perspective, priorities for decision making and the planning process.

Sessions three through six focus exclusively on the four basic temperament types. Each session is devoted to the positives and pitfalls for each temperament, as well as specific advice for parenting each type of child.

This series includes a Temperament Analysis Test to help you discover your personality profile!

Format Available: CD

Session 1: Why Can’t You Be Normal… Like Me?
Session 2: Strategy and Style
Session 3: The Melancholic
Session 4: The Choleric
Session 5: The Phlegmatic

“At the core of all this is source of our emotional energy. All of us have certain life-experiences that enthuse and excited us while other situations make us feel like tucking in our tails and walking away. Everyone has a reservoir of emotional energy. When it’s full, we’re like a happy, positive and proactive. When it’s empty, we’re blah, negative and moody.

A few years ago “Duracell” ran a series of television ads in which people had battery packs on their backs. As the characters interacted with one another some would run out of power and slump over while others would just kept on going. Of course it was the Duracell powered the characters who kept on going. Energizer countered with a hot pink, sunglass-wearing, drum-beating “Energizer Bunny” who has stared in at least 115 different commercials as the bunny who just “keeps on going and going.”

Imagine for a moment that people are battery operated and that each of us has a rechargeable pack on our backs. As we go through the day, some experiences and activities drain us of emotional energy while others actually rejuvenate us. Once we’re drained of energy, we’ve got to recharge. If we don’t we’re like a car that’s running out of fuel, we’ll spit and sputter. Humanly, we’ll say things we don’t mean, and fail to perform smoothly until the emotional fuel tank is refilled. If we’re not emotionally charged our relationships become strained and job performance flounders.

Everyone’s emotional energy is recharged in one of two ways and that’s usually the beginning of our misunderstandings. You are either the kind of person who thrives on interaction or isolation. You’re either the kind person that likes to kick back alone under a shade tree or the kind who just wants to run with the pack. These two different approaches have nothing to do with how outgoing you can be. They have nothing to do with being shy. They are simply the source of your emotional energy. Those who thrive on interaction find themselves invigorated by being with people and being alone drains them. Others are just the opposite, they flourish and need time alone. Hanging with a group of people drains them and before long they are looking for some alone time to recharge.

Neither style of recharging is right or wrong – just different. Very different! In fact, they are exact opposites and they are built right into us. Understanding this is the beginning of healthy interaction with those around us and just might keep you out of the doghouse.

Couples will be entertained and encouraged as they learn: the principles to avoid self-centeredness, how to communicate with each other, how to appreciate the differences between men and women, what their spouse’s top 5 needs are, how to create a bond that will minimize the risk of an affair, steps to rebuilding their relationship after a difficulty, how to speak their spouse’s love language, and how to make romance and passion a priority.

Moore On Life is a listener supported ministry. And your gifts are used to keep this broadcast on the air. As our way of saying thank you for your gift of any amount, we would like to send you a classic audio message from David Moore entitled, “What’s Your Pedigree” taken from the popular series, “Animal Instincts” this message offers great insight into understanding yourself and others in your life. Each one of us is one of four personality types. These traits are hard wired right into us, there is no changing them but we can gain a better understanding of how these personality profiles affect what we do and how we view the world. David takes each personality type and relates it to the K9 world, since most of us understand dogs better than people. This message is a great addition to the Love for A Lifetime Series, and is our gift to you for your donation to this ministry of any amount.

When hindrances confront us we must recognize them as opportunities to prove what we are made of. It is easy to move forward on a journey if the road is a four lane expressway with no bumps, curves, or detours to slow us down. But when faced with impassable roadblocks, if we persevere at the point of conflict, we will develop the character to wear the crown of success with true grace and honor.

This book will push you to live above ordinary. It will take courage to move from ordinary to extraordinary, but you will not regret it. Others long to see something to emulate, a hero to look up to, a mentor to follow. Be that to someone. Our world needs strong leaders leading the right way. Decide to take your place and fulfill the destiny meant for you and you alone. I challenge you to move from ordinary living to extraordinary living, in every arena of life. Through hard circumstances, through tough personal assessment, through accepting others, as well as yourself, through personal growth in work and marriage, through an intimate daily encounter with God. Be extraordinary!

Pamala encourages others to choose to make their lives Extraordinary. Ordinary takes no effort, it’s easy to coast through life, follow the crowd to average. But Pamala believes everyone can push past obstacles that keep you stuck in the same place having just ordinary relationships and small dreams. She gives step by step instructions to help you get unstuck and move forward to achieve more, dream bigger and live an extraordinary life. She has teamed up with lifetime friend and colleague David T. Moore to provide more even resources and insight on getting unstuck and moving forward to live the life you were destined to live. The Extraordinary Life!
