We normally use our home for locals if they need an evacuation premise. On this occasion we could not offer a safe place for locals, the house could only be offered to authorised media personnel.

We are immensely grateful to be a part of a great community, neighbours, volunteers, locals, Jane, Jackie, Jenny, Julie and Emma who helped keep us informed with photos, text and updates as we stayed on the property to defend.

We are unaffected by the fires and open for business.

Lancelin will devote itself solely to off-road vehicles on Saturday, October 15th from 9.30am.

The Lancelin Off-Road Muster will see hundreds of 4WDs gather in the town before heading to the dunes to smash the Guinness World Record for the Largest Convoy Of Off-Road Vehicles.

There’ll be a show and shine in the town centre along with social events throughout the day so you can rub shoulders with others who share your passion.

The event is being hosted by the Lancelin District Community Association (LDCA) and will be a must for those who love off road driving.

It will be open to road-registered 4WDs only.

Head straight up Wanneroo Rd/Indian Ocean Drive to get there. Allow 2 hours to get there.

Couldn’t find a pen in my bag to write in the Visitors book, when we were on our way out, so decided to email instead!

Just wanted to say thank you for sharing such a lovely experience with us. We enjoyed the tranquil setting, and I had a good few chin wags with the cows and their wee offspring as they ventured up to the house … not terribly sure what they thought of me!

The girls enjoyed it too, and watched scary dvd’s at night, then proceeded to jump on us in bed when the curtains moved. Daft kids! We spent the whole weekend using the plastic plates, and this morning whilst I was washing up and packing away, discovered the proper crockery / plates. You should’ve seen my hub’s face! *duh*! lol!

Thanks again for a super weekend. Will def be back to harass the cattle with endless chat!
