Pulling Away from Someone Who is Dying

We knew the time for Nanny's passing was close. Her suffering was becoming unbearable. It was emotionally torturous for me to see her in such agitation and pain. The meds didn't seem to be working to ease her and dementia was getting worse. When I saw her at her 99th birthday party, she did not recognize me. She was begging Jesus and the angels to come and get her. I was trying so hard to hold back my tears that I triggered a migraine headache and ended up in bed part of the afternoon.

For the past few years, Nanny could not see or hear well. Her mind was not as sharp as it used to be and it became difficult to carry on a cohesive conversation. I stopped calling her. My trips to Georgia became less frequent as the chaos in my parents' home became more intense. Being one who is overly sensitive, I cannot in good consciousness judge anyone who pulls away when the emotional pain is too great to bear. I pulled away when my grandfather was ill--he lived next door to me at the time.

I used the five-hour drive as an excuse to pull away physically from my grandmother's suffering and from all the stress I saw my mother taking on. The household was in turmoil. My grandmother and I began connecting in spirit. As an intercessor and shaman, I was called to help her tie up loose ends so she could depart in peace. She was ascending and this would be her last incarnation on Earth. She had to stay until she had fully completed her mission. At last, she had sung all the colors of the rainbow.

The night before my grandmother died I was texting my mom. Less than a month prior, Nanny had been admitted to hospice care at home where she lived with my parents. She could no longer swallow, which meant she could not eat or drink. Mom and her sister took turns sitting beside the bed and holding Nanny's hand. That night she was having difficulty breathing.

As I told my mother goodnight, I fluffed my pillows and set my intention to connect with Nanny. I was sending her love and light when I began to feel a blissful energy enveloping my entire body and aura. I felt at one with everything and everyone. It was like I was incarnated as every person all at once. I realized by experience, and not just a head knowing, that I truly was one with all that is. God/Goddess had never seemed so real or tangible. I could hardly feel my body lying on the bed. I was floating in divine love. The peacefulness was so intense I could not help but let my tears of joy have their way. So this is what it is like to be pure essence and not have an individual body! Nanny was sharing with me what it feels like to be "dead." Ha ha! Dead is better than being tethered to a body. That's for sure.

It was this experience that gave me the grace to move through the next week with very few tears or sad emotions. I arrived to give last rites six hours after Nanny's spirit had slipped away from her suffering form. She looked like she was asleep as I drummed and sang to her. The undertaker arrived soon after and I helped him get Nanny's lifeless body onto the stretcher that would take her from the home she had shared with my parents for 16 years. The next days were spent making arrangements and preparing for the guests who were arriving from three states. Spending time casket-side with family that I had not seen in years was a side benefit--an unexpected family reunion. Then, came the joyful task of singing and playing at my beloved grandmother's funeral. My cousin and I led the congregation in a few hymns that we knew Nanny liked. It was like being in church together again--like old times we had shared in decades prior.

But not everyone was experiencing the blissful anointing of grace that I was enjoying. You see, when someone we love dies, it reminds us of every loss we have ever experienced. If we did not finish processing that grief, it comes up for a second round of healing when a new experience of grief is added to the mound of pain we have shoved under the carpet.

So when we see someone expressing tears and sobbing for someone we think they were not all that close to, it's not just about this current situation. It's about years of sorrow and painful emotions that have been repressed, which are now asking for release. Offer them a shoulder to cry on. Give them a hug to let them know you support their healing through tears. It has been said that tears are like an orgasm of the eyes--tears release pent up energy. Lighten their burden with a caring smile. We are in this life together. We are one in spirit!

Grandmother Visits Before Death

I walked in the kitchen on August 25 and felt a spirit presence. I asked who it was and I started smelling Dial soap and snuff. I instantly thought of my grandmother who was active in her dying process. She did not know me last time I visited her. Dementia sucks!

I went to take the clean clothes out of the washer and put them in the dryer. Suddenly I had an an image in my mind of me and Nanny hanging clothes on the clothesline at the Oak Road house. We did that a lot in my younger years when she babysat me and my brother and our cousins. I lived next door to her for ten years when my kids were young. She babysat them too.

I thought I was just imagining the smell--something in my house. I walked out on the back porch and the smells followed me. I knew it had to be Nanny so I asked her what I could do for her.

She wanted me to play piano and sing at her funeral. I told her I would 40 years ago. She had not forgotten that promise and reminded me of it a few years ago. I told her then I did not think I could get through it without crying. But there was a special grace with this visitation and even though I did not know how much longer Nanny's spirit would animate a physical body, I knew I would be strengthened to do what I needed to do. I told her I would follow through with my promise to see her off with a song.

Nanny had an illness in 1952 and did not think she would live. She told me about this several times when I was younger. I wrote about it in my book, More Than Meets the Eye, so I'll post that excerpt here.

During the night I had what I thought was a dream. The angels lifted me from my body and took me out of the house and laid me down in a sandy spot in my front yard. Two white doves came and stayed with me all night. They were talking to me in a language I couldn’t understand. I could hear voices far away, and I saw a crowd of people wearing white robes who all looked the same. Without using words I asked the doves, “Where is my white robe?” One dove told me that I couldn’t have mine yet. “You have to wait a while,” he said, “You need to go back and finish raising your children.” I was disappointed. I didn’t want to go back. I wanted to join the people with the white robes. I came back but I had no desire to be here and didn’t want to live. It took a while for me to adjust to being here again. I knew there was a better place waiting for me on the other side. An experience like that never leaves you, and I have never been afraid of dying since then.

I asked her if the angel doves had her robe ready. She said, "It's almost time." She said for us not to cry for her too much. I promised her that our tears would be tears of gratitude for who she is and how she has blessed us all so much.

Less than a month later, my grandmother died. My cousin and I sang at her funeral. There was a tangible grace and peace that let me know Nanny was right there with us listening to our hymns and singing along with the family.

Psychic Smells of the Spirit

Our souls have signature frequencies that can be identified in many psychic ways. Colors in the aura, audible tones emitted, appearing in various shapes and forms, geometric figures, mathematical formulas, and languages are among some of the various ways we can recognize a person in the spirit realm. My grandmother (we call her Nanny) is 99 years old. She is in poor health, practically blind and deaf in addition to living with dementia. She is well cared for thanks to my mother and her twin sister and other family members who assist. Nanny has dipped Bruton snuff since she was 14 years old. Until recently . . as her health declines she asks for it less and less. She is ready to die. Everyday, she begs Jesus to come for her.

Nanny had an NDE in 1952 in which she communicated with angels that took the form of white doves. She heard a choir singing and saw they were wearing white robes. She wanted to know if she was going to get a robe and get to sing in that choir. The answer was "not yet." The angel doves sent Nanny back to her body to finish raising her children who were sill young at the time. She has been waiting for her robe ever since then.

I walked in the kitchen one day last week and felt a spirit presence. I asked who it was and I started smelling Dial soap, Palmolive dish liquid and snuff. I went to unload the clothes out of the washer and put them in the dryer. Suddenly I had an an image in my mind of me and Nanny hanging clothes on the clothesline at the Oak Road house where we lived next door to one another for ten years. She used Dial soap and Palmolive dish liquid for as long as she was able to bathe herself and keep house. I chuckled at the memory of how those rough towels were so stiff they would practically stand up on their own after they dried on the line.

I thought I was just imagining the combination of smells, but this was so unique to my grandmother, I knew her spirit was trying to communicate with me. Her body is still alive (barely) and her spirit is traveling just like her son did, and her daughter. My uncle came to me less than a week before he passed in 2001 to let me know what songs he wanted at his funeral. (Being a church pianist for 25 years, it is my honor to play for the memorials of my family members.) He lets me know he is around by bringing the smell of cigarettes. He smoked for as long as I can remember. My uncle has been around this past week as well. My aunt told me in person before she died that she would let me know she was trying to communicate with me by giving the image of a cameo or silhouette. I've seen that appear in physical form a few times and received messages from her since her passing in 2009.

I walked out on the porch and the smells of my Nanny followed me. I asked her what I could do for her. She reminded me that she wants me to play piano and sing at her funeral. I reaffirmed that I would. I asked her if the angel doves had her robe ready. She said it's almost time. She does not want us not to cry for her too much. I promised her that our tears would be tears of gratitude for who she is and how she has blessed us all so much.

I count it a privilege to be able to communicate in the spirit with my loved one. I don't call myself a medium nor do I seek information from the deceased. It was never my intention to become a shaman. I was raised Christian but my supernatural experiences did not find support in that arena. Departing souls just seem to find me when they need my services to cross over.

DON’T FEAR THE REAPER!

Java was our dog for 13 years, but at the beginning of the Star Knowledge Conference in late September her health began to swiftly decline. She had been suffering with arthritis pain and hip dysplasia, but the pain meds were helping her stay relatively comfortable for most of this year. The tumors that one vet told us were fatty cysts started growing to the point that they were restricting movement in her front legs and pressing on her throat and lungs. She would get out of breath just walking from the living room to the kitchen. The week after the conference, she could hardly get up or down the steps to go outside for potty. At 71 pounds, our chocolate lab was too heavy for me to lift.

My faithful companion sat at my feet trembling and looking at me so pitifully, I could hardly bear it. I took my drum to the medicine wheel and asked for instructions. I learned that many animal souls would be crossing over with Java so I opened a portal and invited them in. The grief started almost immediately and I cried most of the day.

We knew it was just a matter of time before Java died on her own, but my husband and I decided not to let her suffer any longer. We had her gently put to sleep the morning of September 27 and she died in our arms at 11:11. Since she had partnered with me to cross over animal souls when I did sessions to cross over human souls, her ashes are often used on one of the four altars in our home.

I dreamed of Java the night she died. I saw her with a blue-eyed husky, a border collie, a pygmy goat, and a white Shetland pony that had a horn in its center forehead like a unicorn. The goat kept brushing up against Java and rubbing on her the way she used to rub on our sofa when she thought we were not watching. The animals were playing hide-n-seek and having fun in a grassy meadow. They would run in a big circle chasing Java, who was running as fast as she could like she used to do when we would clap our hands and say “Go, dog, go!” Then she would stop suddenly and her followers would have a rear end collision and pileup, rolling on top of each other before they got up and ran after her again. She had on her “happy face” and she was young—about two or three years old—and healthy. When the unicorn would prance, the ground would shake and become flexible like a trampoline; and all the dogs and the goat would start bouncing and jumping and turning flips on the trampoline/ground. It was funny and quite a comfort to me! I knew she was fine, but I was grieving—hard! Everything reminded me of her and made me burst into sobbing.

I walked up the street to the smoke shop the next day. I wanted to use loose organic tobacco in a ceremony to thank the ancestors and the bird tribe for helping Java and all of the animal spirits that were crossing over with her. About 10 steps after I touched my foot to the sidewalk a car came zooming by at about 50 mph. If my footsteps had been any slower the car would have hit me—there's no way he could've stopped. Inside the store, “Don't Fear the Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult, was playing. It was a message from heaven. Here are the lyrics.

That song was a reminder that there is nothing to fear about death—it is one of the ways that a releases a soul to soar in the afterlife! I had been asking how many souls were crossing with Java. The song led me to believe that at least 40,000 souls of animals (pets and slaughtered food sources) had crossed over at that point and more were coming. Crying in waves that would hit without warning in the middle of whatever I was doing, I was processing and transmuting sorrow and grief for all of the animals and the pets’ owners. Intense work to say the least.

I was still grieving on Monday when at 5AM the dogs next door started barking like they did whenever they saw Java outside. (They liked to play together through the fence.) Once the ruckus ended, I was drifting back to sleep when I saw an image of Java standing right outside my bedroom window—the exact place where she would play with the dogs next door. Is that what the dogs were barking about? Could they see her?

My grief for my beloved companion only lasted four days, which I thought was very unusual. On Tuesday, I got up as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. I had somehow shifted and felt that Java’s energy had merged with mine—she is an aspect of my soul, a member of my guidance team who had been incarnated as an animal. I still miss seeing her frosty grey-haired face and giving her a bite of whatever food I prepared, but I no longer feel the sadness of losing her. I didn’t lose her—she is me and I am her. We are one in Spirit.

Helping Souls Transition and Cross Over

Have you ever felt like you were being moved around like a puppet? You are aware that you are making decisions, but they seem to be coming from a higher place and gently over-riding your earthly (fear-based) decision making process. This happened to me in the months following my soul exchange in 1999. The next thing I knew my life was totally different—for the better.

Well, it’s happening again. I’ve been consciously aware that part of my mission is to help souls cross over. There are many of us who are gatekeepers. This may be why you feel weighed down or depressed for no reason—there are souls in your field, seeking the portal of light into other dimensions.

In 2005, I wrote a book titled More Than Meets the Eye: True Stories About Death, Dying and Afterlife. It covers many aspects of the dying and grieving process and sheds light on euthanasia, suicide, near-death experience, and spirit visits after the passing of a loved one. After ten years of feeling the urge to get involved, I am in the process of becoming a hospice volunteer where I will be singing light language in a frame drum to assist souls in their transition. I have passed the background check and preliminary health tests and look forward to the training class in September. It feels strange to do this for others when I have sick and elderly family members that I would like to minister to in this fashion. I distantly pray for them but when I get around them in person, my adult higher self has to step in to keep me from reverting to being the co-dependent child they raised rather than the empowered minister that I know myself to be. As an empath, it is more difficult for me to handle the energy of my family than the energy of being around strangers. This is what the Bible refers to as “familiar” spirits. Setting boundaries is always harder with those you are closest to.

I had an opportunity to do a drumming and light language last rites ceremony for my friend’s grandmother who was dying. Our time on the phone was sweet as we felt the presence of many beloved angels, archangels, and ascended masters assisting with the process of retrieving all soul parts and aspects, clearing trauma and karma, and dissolving the astral body and its debris. We also called in her ancestors who had passed and invited them to cross over as well.

I don’t know what to expect as I begin to minister to the dying and their families, but I trust it will be a good experience to help me continue to mature on my spiritual path. Things always work out well when we follow our internal guidance. When it feels like our guides are manipulating us, they are actually orchestrating things behind the scenes to accomplish something that our soul has agreed to on a higher level.

The Weapon of Love

The week I was recovering from back strain, I painted a canvas. Instructions for this dark and mysterious piece were given in my dream state and I painted only what I saw each day. As the artwork unfolded, so did the story. The angel with no arms and only a gold and red heart as her shield is Durga, the goddess of power and strength. To the Hindus she is a multi-dimensional goddess, with many names. As Shakti, she is the destroyer of evil. She has ten arms carrying lethal weapons that she uses to slays the demon Mahishasura. As the embodiment of the Divine Mother, Durga represents purity, knowledge, truth, and self-realization. She takes on the energy of the male gods to save the universe by ending selfishness, jealousy, prejudice, hatred, anger, and ego while protecting it from evil and misery.

Starting at the bottom of the painting, here is the interpretation or story in the painting:

The eyes in the emotional waters are in the underworld where shamans travel to retrieve souls and soul fragments. Notice how the eyes morph into a reptile. This indicates that we are clearing programming and suffering all the way back to the time when human DNA had not been tampered with.

Healing hands with snake-like fingers are arising from the underworld where our most treasured gifts reside, awakening Kundalini (Divine Feminine) energy in those we touch as we work with Durga to integrate our shadow side with the light. The mountains are the hurdles we have traversed to get to where we are now—a place of emerging into light. The bridges are those connecting with one another on Earth, who are serving as integration links to the underworld, 3-D terrain, and the ascended planes of consciousness. We are activating codes of the divine human and bringing them to all creation for transcending density and detrimental programming.

The full dark moon shows us that we are in a time of new beginnings when old things are passing away and new things are being brought to fullness.

The heavens hold the temples (connected by light codes), sacred geometry of the pyramids, galactic ships, and castles/dwellings of the ascended ones. They are sending codes to us.

Empaths Crossing Souls Over

Being a gatekeeper is a soul mission that helps souls cross over into the light after clearing them of their detrimental energy. Many empaths do transmutation work without realizing that this is why they feel depressed, drained, sick, and have unexplained pain. I know how upsetting it can be to have entities in your field.

I suppose it was 2003 or 2004 when I began being awakened randomly in the night hearing someone call my name, or feeling someone touch me, or seeing a shadowy figure hovering over me or staring at me. During the day, I could feel presences staring at me, talking to me, or making weird sounds. Some felt ominous and eerie, but that’s because they had astral debris (yucky mental and emotional energy) attached to them. Then they started moving stuff around in my house and breaking things to get my attention. I didn’t like this nor did I understand why they were coming to me.

I started watching Ghost Whisperer in which Jennifer Love Hewitt starred as a medium who crossed souls over to the light. It all started making sense then. I began holding a ceremony for the souls who had come to me. It was simple: I lit a candle and called in my guides, angels, archangels, fairies, and ascended masters to help me cross the souls over. It worked to help me feel lighter! But as some left, more would come.

My guides told me that I could work with these souls without having to consciously interact with them. Archangels Michael and Chamuel had been brought in to do the work for me. All I had to do was call upon these loving angels whenever I sensed entities near me. Even though I was aware of the earthbounds’ energy, their activity decreased dramatically after that. The crossing over work was still being done, but on a higher level that did not require my participation.

In 2012, I went to Sedona where was in a private medicine wheel ceremony with a Cherokee-Lakota grandmother. I was suddenly overcome with grief, and fell to the ground sobbing and praying in light language. It wasn’t until I got back home and was depressed and feeling drained for three weeks that I realized I had picked up more than 200 souls of Native Americans who had died on the trail of tears. They wanted to cross over, but probably not as much as I wanted them to! While lying on the ground in my backyard, I had a vision in which I spoke with the chief or leader of these tribes. Together with him and my archangels, we crossed the souls over. I started feeling better almost instantly and was back to normal in a few days.

After that, two Native American elders were added to my gatekeeper team of guardians. A lot of people are dying and this is why we are crossing over so many souls these days. They can't be left stuck in the astral plane because no one can be left behind as we ascend. If a soul can't ascend while in the body, they can be crossed over after the body dies by the empaths who are transmuting the astral debris and by shamans who retrieve the soul, and priestesses who drum them into the light.

If you are being called to interact with beings in the underworld, I recommend you read Ethan Vorly’s material on entity clearing http://www.entityclearing.com/ . I use his compassionate method of release when I encounter earthbounds during my client sessions.

If you sense you are dealing with entities or earthbound souls, I encourage you to get in touch with your guides and ask them what you need to do regarding your gate keeping responsibilities.

How Much Wholeness and Ecstasy Can You Stand?

What a terrific call we had on Empowering Hour with Empaths on Tuesday!

Veronica O’Grady explained why we really don’t need to guard our hearts and put up walls to protect ourselves as empaths. Instead, we can explore how we really feel and allow a cleansing/clearing to take place by allowing the energy to come up and be dealt with. When we take down the walls around our hearts or say goodbye to energy that no longer serves us, we will begin to feel lighter and more whole. However, before that happens, this leaving and unweaving may create a feeling of loss or grief. Rest assured that the heart space is filling up with light; and soon, the only protection you will need is to set boundaries with energy by simply using your intention and words.

Are you energetically picking up on the history of the land whenever you enter a property? Many empaths are aware of disembodied souls; however, they may not realize that they are clearing the souls that are trapped in the plane between the Earth and the soul’s resting place in the afterlife. Learning to consciously participate in crossing souls over to the light will lessen the detrimental energy that you pick up in your field. Yvonne shares her story about crossing over souls from the Civil War and those who committed suicide at a particular location.

Astral Aspects

"I believe there are souls trapped in astral dimensions that desperately want to be free. The light in the more-evolved aspects of the soul are seeking to draw them out for healing and integration. We cannot cast them out or get rid of them—they are part of us, and they are making themselves known. Pretending that you don’t hear their voices will not make them go away. Trying to banish or punish them or the ego does not work.

I found it helpful to interact with these aspects and the ego—to listen to what they have to say. You may be surprised to find that your “ego” or shadow side can help guide you to your truth by showing what is hidden in your subconscious mind. The critical parent within your psyche has a reason for being so over-protective. The annoying inner child, pulling at your shirt tail and trying to get your attention, can tell you what is coming up for integration.

As we ascend, we are actually drawing these aspects into the light where they are transmuted and their vibration is aligned with love. The ascension process can be messy as our shadow side emerges. This upheaval lessens as we surrender to the love of the Divine Mother (also known as Sophia, Goddess, or Holy Spirit) and Divine Father (Christos, God, Abba). This surrender allows us as divine children to balance our masculine and feminine energies in sacred marriage within our own hearts.

Astral aspects of soul contain greed, hatred, jealousy, prejudice, rage, and other attributes that are “anti-Christ” or opposite of love. They are arising into our consciousness, where we are hardly able to ignore them as they beg to be reconciled. When we are fully ascended, any access the dark forces have to the human psyche will be closed or sealed.

The best way to deal with these aspects is to acknowledge their presence and invite them into the light. Instead of hating the darkness, have compassion and thank it for giving you the skills needed for survival in the old paradigm."

Highly Sensitive People May Communicate with Ghosts

When I stopped using my own energy to offer healing to others, the empathic attacks lessened, but I was still able to see and hear in the spirit realm. Disembodied souls would awaken me during the night and hover overhead, staring at me until I woke up. I heard things no one else heard and I could feel the energy of ghosts around me. I even wrote a book about it, More Than Meets the Eye True Stories about Death, Dying, and Afterlife. I’ve always been sensitive to the energy of “deceased” people.

Jerry, a friend of mine, was fatally stabbed in the parking lot of a Kroger store in 2007 while trying to stop a man who had stolen a purse from a 60-year-old woman. When I heard Jerry had died, I was immediately catapulted into an empathetic episode like I had not experienced since I was serving as an intercessory prayer warrior in the city of Muncie in the mid-1990s. The grief-like energy I was carrying for Jerry's friends and family was so severe that after two days, I finally called on an energy-worker friend to clear me so I could stop sobbing.

After that, I put up some really strong protective barriers to keep from taking on other people's energy, but Jerry didn’t seem to get the message. His spirit hung around me for more than a week following his death. I didn't want to do what he was urging me to do—contact his mom and sister and give them a message from him: “Tell them I am with Mason.” The message didn't mean anything to me. I wasn't sure if Mason was a person, a pet, a bricklayer, or a lodge member. I hesitated sharing this insight because I didn't know how open his sister and mom were to having a stranger give them a psychic message and I didn't want to add to their grief. What if I was wrong and the message had no relevance to them?

However, Jerry was insistent, and at the time, I didn't know how to make ghosts go away. So, I found his mother’s address and wrote a letter giving her the message with my phone number and return address. I didn't hear anything from the family until nearly two and a half years later when I got a letter from his sister, stating that she finally knew what the message meant. He had visited with a friend who was a cashier at the store the day Jerry was killed. Her name was Mason.

Caregivers Setting Boundaries & Breaking Soul Contracts

There comes a point when it is time to give up clan, tribal, familial, and societal norms and expectations and move into the unknown in order for your soul to find acceptance and love. Often, this requires setting boundaries with others who have tried to control you. This is something many empathic people find difficult to do.

We came to Earth to inspire others, not to do everything for them, or to be something for them that they can be for themselves. We empaths came here to be examples of a more evolved human—one that goes beyond the norm and pushes the envelope of what humans previously believed they could do.

People know how to suffer, live in lack, and be sick. Lightworkers come to demonstrate health, abundance, success, and happiness. We came to teach and demonstrate the Universal Laws of manifestation through thought, desire, attitudes, emotions, and gratitude. Accomplishing this mission may require that you give up the friends or relationships you have now—especially if they are harmful or holding you back.

There’s much said about being a martyr, and none of it (in my opinion) is positive. Our society heralds self-less caregivers as saints, but how many are cheerful givers? How many people really enjoy being a doormat? How many honestly want to give up their own lives and goals to care for another person who has manifested an illness? Our bodies obey the commands of our minds. If the body has become sick, it is because at some subconscious level the mind believes it should be or deserves to be ill. Perhaps there is some payoff that this person receives for being incapacitated. Dr. Henry Grayson’s book, Use Your Body to Heal Your Mind, deals with this in detail.

Is it the fear of what others (friends, family, or even your “patient”) will think of you that keeps you from putting the very draining and incapacitated person in a facility where they can be cared for by staff members who are trained for this purpose? If you are afraid that your “patient” won’t be cared for as well as you can care for them at home, then you are not allowing that person to have the experience that their soul set up for learning. Have you ever considered how taking on this kind of burden or responsibility could hinder your own health and spiritual progress? You may need to break soul contracts and sever any psychic ties you have with this person and allow them to find their own path through the suffering they have created for themselves (as a coach, I can help you with this). Their suffering does not have to be your suffering, unless you agree to it.

So, consider honestly answering a few questions.

It is a sense of obligation that keeps you duty bound to the bedside of a loved one?

How many burdens are you carrying that are not your own?

Why are you running interference and keeping another person from resolving karma?

Why are you allowing your own “temple of the Holy Spirit” to lay in ruins while you give, give, give? Giving is the exhale. You must inhale to live in balance.

How long will you allow others to make demands of you?

What can you do today to begin to care for yourself and stop worrying about what other people think of you?

Connecting with Deceased Loved Ones

It is quite normal for a loved one's visits to become less frequent and less powerful as time passes. While you may miss the presence of your loved one, be assured that this is actually a good sign that his or her soul is adapting to the higher realms and their astral body is being absorbed into the light. This doesn't mean that she won't be able to visit you. Her visits may be less noticeable because her vibration will be higher than what humans typically sense during our hurried days when our brains are at beta brainwave stage.

If you take time to reach the stillness of your own heart, you will raise your vibration and enter alpha or theta brainwave stage (http://www.finerminds.com/mind-power/brain-waves/) where you are more likely to sense her presence and share a sweet exchange of loving energy. (Delta, or deep sleep, is also a time when you might connect.) During these peaceful meditation moments, you may also be able to connect with other family members who are of a high vibration.

Those spirits who are manipulative have a denser astral body and you will likely be able to sense their presence more easily. They are a closer match to the vibration of the earth plane and its chaos. You can tell them to "take a hike" any time they bother you. Your personal energy field and private space is yours to control. You do not have to be bothered by these spirits.

Can My Deceased Loved One Become My Spirit Guide?

I get this question many times, so I’ll answer it publically in hopes of helping many people find an answer.

Personally, I believe that we are all connected, so when one of us heals, the entire genetic line is positively affected. I also believe that we are aspects or expressions of our soul family and that we incarnate into the same genetic line (or in close proximity) many times over. Additionally, if you understand the concept of future selves and parallel or simultaneous lives, you might be able to accept that you or your child/grandchild could be a reincarnation of a forebear in your genetic line. We are in a period of time when human consciousness as a whole is shifting into a purer, more divine, form. Future and past selves, as well as advanced and highly evolved aspects, are merging with the soul that is in the body. Thus, you may have had some unusual situations or experiences and now feel like you have merged with others who were once in your current life or past lives. This is because that “other” person who played a role in your life was actually a very close member of your soul family/group or possibly even as aspect of your own essence. (I wrote about this on my Integrating Frequencies Blogger site.) With this being so, any “deceased” (I put that in scare quotes because the soul really never dies) loved one who wishes to assure that the DNA of a particular lineage remains on a path to spiritual ascension would be interested in helping his or her descendants stay on course. But, what if the mother or grandfather that you knew in your current life has passed and you think this person has since become your guide? If a deceased loved one and you are working together on soul development, you may both be in body at the same time, or you may both be dis-incarnated at the same time. Or, one may be in body while the other serves as a helping spirit or guide from the other side. These partnerships are agreed upon at a soul level, so it's not likely that you can choose a deceased loved one to be your guide (they may have other work to do in the afterlife). If they are your guide, you will be aware of their presence a lot more often than just a brief stop-by every now and then. It could be that your “deceased” loved one is keenly interested in you and your life just because of the love and the bond they had with you while you were both in body. They don’t want to lose that connection any more than you do, so they “hang out” with you quite frequently. I’ve seen this become a bother when the deceased fails to realize that those in body have boundaries and a need for privacy. Some may try to steer a human’s path by manipulating outcomes to their own liking, but that’s another article altogether. Those family members, who are with you in spirit and respect your boundaries, may very well become a guide for you after they pass from the body. If there is vibrational compatibility and you are happy with your loved one being a spirit guide for you, then there’s no need to worry or take action other than to welcome them and remind them that you are still the one in control of your schedule and decisions. The guides that I wish to have around me are those who have been in a body and understand what it’s like to be human, but have gained an awakened, enlightened, or ascended status. I typically ask that my guides be at a vibrational frequency that is higher than that of my own soul. I bet your next question is “how do I know if a loved one is with me?” They will give you signs that only you will recognize. Here are a few ways you can tell: • They come to you in lucid dreams that are too real to shake off—these are spirit visitations • They appear to you in spirit form and you actually see them—this depends upon your ability to see apparitions • You encounter a smell that you associate with them • You keep hearing their favorite song • A photo of him or her keeps falling over • You feel someone sit next to you, touch you, hug you, or play with your hair but there’s no one physically there • You hear them call your name • You see someone who looks like them or whose mannerisms reminds you of them • You find items that belonged to the loved one in places that you least expect, and you swear that these weren’t there before or have been moved. These are only a few ways you can tell if your loved one is with you. It is always best to use your own intuition and discernment to discover your own truth. What to Do When a Deceased Love One is Bothering You

At first it is comforting. Ah, your sweet aunt came to visit you three days after her funeral. You smelled her cologne and remembered some nice day you spent shopping with her. Then, she's there the next week, and the week after that, and the next thing you know she's there all day and making herself at home. Spirit visitations seem to occur more often around the holidays or some event that may be significant to the deceased—like a birth/death day, anniversary date, or family reunion. With Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, I think it is fitting to address this now.

I get emails from readers who many times are having issues with deceased loved ones or other earthbound spirits (or soul aspect that did not cross over) who want to hang around those who are still in body. Some spirits or ghosts can be disruptive, like a house guest that won't leave or go home when the party is over. I want to address this and gives some tips on how to deal with the deceased loved one who is making themselves a pest in your home or personal space.

This invasion (even though this spirit is your mom or dad, brother or sister, etc.) is like having a friend show up at your door uninvited everyday and stay until all hours while disrespecting your privacy. They may watch you in the shower, hover over you while you are in bed, and even move stuff around in your house. This type of spirit visitation is not comforting and personally, I would not allow it.

Many times simply asking the spirit to leave and then burning some sage in the house will suffice for clearing. However, if this does not work, then ask yourself what you are doing to allow or require this entity a presence there. Is there some unfinished business between the two of you? Identify what this business might be. Was there an argument prior to his/her death? Were you their caregiver and now they feel obligated to you? Did you inherit some piece of furniture, jewelry, car, house, money, or other possession that this person held dear?

Call in your angels and highest guidance aligned with the Light and then sit down with this loved one and say whatever it is you need to say. Thank them for being in your life while they were in body and let them know that you love them, but need them to leave. Let them know that you appreciate the personal belonging that you inherited and that you will treasure it for as long as it is with you.

Most deceased loved ones do not want to cause harm to their family members—they just don't know they are being a bother. Tell them how they are negatively affecting you. Your grandmother/grandfather may have something to say to you that will give her/him the peace and resolution she/he needs to move on. When you feel that you have found resolution and the karma has been cleared between the two of you, (this should not take more than one session, so don't let them manipulate you into having more "pow-wows" or heart-to-heart talks) it is time to call upon archangels Michael and Chamuel and ask them to escort this entity to the light or some place in the afterlife where he/she can continue with soul development and ascension.

Because karmic patterns leave energy threads, you may still sense a slight (but much less pronounced) presence after the clearing. Don't let this trick you into thinking that the spirit is still there—that would open a door or extend an invitation for their return visit. This is the time to remind yourself that all karma has been resolved and that you are free to live your life without the influence of others, incarnated or dis-incarnated. Ask your higher guidance or angels to remove the karmic threads and fill those vacant spaces with the energy of love, light, peace, joy, grace, gentleness, or whatever you feel is appropriate.
