7 Gulf oil spill cleanup workers hospitalized
(AP) – 4 hours ago

NEW ORLEANS — Seven workers helping to clean up the Gulf oil spill were hospitalized after they reported dizziness, headaches and nausea while working on boats off the Louisiana coast, though most of them were later released.

West Jefferson Medical Center spokeswoman Taslin Alfonzo said Thursday that doctors believe the likely cause is chemical irritation and dehydration from long hours working in the heat.
Alfonzo said the workers told doctors they believe chemicals used to break up the oil made them sick.

Authorities say the workers became ill Wednesday while cleaning up oil in Breton Sound, southeast of New Orleans.

Officials ordered all 125 commercial boats working the cleanup there to leave the area.

Now the FBI is cracking down on these type of people who simply are trying to separate themselves from the government's authority.

Domestic terrorism—Americans attacking Americans because of U.S.-based extremist ideologies—comes in many forms in our post 9/11 world.

Today, we look at a third threat—the “sovereign citizen” extremist movement.Sovereign citizens are anti-government extremists who believe that even though they physically reside in this country, they are separate or “sovereign” from the United States. Strong USD Index But Weakening Dollar?

The possibility of the US Dollar index staying relatively strong for the rest of the year is something I'm anticipating. Especially because the USD Index is comprised mostly of the dollar vs the euro. So continuing problems in the Eurozone will weaken their currency, making the dollar look good.

The problem is the dollar is still weakening, in a slick kind of way. Gold, silver, oil, and other commodities are all gaining upside momentum while the dollar index is hovering around 81, giving us the illusion of dollar strength.

It would not suprise me if the dollar stays above 74 for the rest of the year and oil rallies to $95-100 later in the year. CNBC's Rick Santelli is calling for $4 gas and $150 crude oil THIS SUMMER. I see that happening early 2011, but he could be right.

The dollar's days are quickly coming to an end so Euro weakness is a good way for the money masters to mask a dollar devaluation!

Wikileaks has obtained and decrypted this previously unreleased video footage from a US Apache helicopter in 2007. It shows Reuters journalist Namir Noor-Eldeen, driver Saeed Chmagh, and several others as the Apache shoots and kills them in a public square in Eastern Baghdad. They are apparently assumed to be insurgents. After the initial shooting, an unarmed group of adults and children in a minivan arrives on the scene and attempts to transport the wounded. They are fired upon as well. The official statement on this incident initially listed all adults as insurgents and claimed the US military did not know how the deaths ocurred. Wikileaks released this video with transcripts and a package of supporting documents on April 5th 2010 on http://collateralmurder.com

AT&T & Other Top Companies Considering Cutting Health Coverage

AT&T blames the new healthcare legislation for a record $1 BILLION charge for the CURRENT quarter.

So, wasn't this healthcare bill supposed to make healthcare more affordable? If the cost of providing coverage to employees was supposed to decrease, why are these big corporations fighting the legislation? If the bill actually DECREASED the cost of healthcare, wouldn't they support it because of the increased profits?

Maybe they're fighting the bill because they have attorney's and accountant's who actually READ the bill and calculated it's impact on their bottom line!

AT&T Inc (T.N) said on Friday it would record a $1 billion non-cash charge for the current quarter related to the new U.S. health care reform law, as lawmakers called on the company and three other large employers to testify about expected cost hikes.

AT&T’s charge appeared to be the largest in a series of charges announced by U.S. companies this week.

A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee said on Friday it will call on the chief executives of AT&T, Caterpillar (CAT.N), Verizon (VZ.N) and Deere (DE.N) to testify on April 21 about how the reform might adversely affect their ability to provide health insurance.

“The new law is designed to expand coverage and bring down costs, so your assertions are a matter of concern,” the subcommittee said in the letters.

AT&T, whose annual revenue is expected to be $124.1 billion this year, said the charge is the result of a provision in the law related to the tax treatment of Medicare subsidies.

As a result of the legislation, the company, which ended 2009 with 282,000 employees, said it will be evaluating prospective changes to the health care benefits it offers to employees at retirees.

Under the health care overhaul large ranks of retirees can no longer deduct from their taxes the subsidies paid by the federal government for retiree drug benefits.

AT&T, the biggest U.S. telephone company, declined to comment beyond its statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission when asked whether the new law would create any more changes beyond the first quarter.

According to reports, Verizon Communications, the second biggest U.S. phone company, told employees that tax burdens under the new law would likely filter down to employees. Verizon declined to comment.

Other companies that announced health care reform related charges include Deere, a maker of farm equipment, which sees a $150 million charge for its current quarter, and Caterpillar, which warned of a $100 million charge.

The congressional letters to the companies said the House Energy and Commerce Committee has made it a top priority to ensure the law is implemented effectively and does not have unintended consequences.

They also said the companies' reports of cost burdens appear to conflict with independent analyses.

The Congressional Budget Office has reported that companies that insure more than 50 employees would see a decrease of up to 3 percent in average premium costs per person by 2016, the letters said.

AT&T shares rose 10 cents to close at $26.74 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Healthcare the way it is now is terrible and unacceptable. But the new healthcare legislation does not fix it at all and actually makes it worse.

Ofcourse Peter Schiff predicted this would happen.
