This blog is mostly about my drawings and paintings at the moment.

I still want to try to help out other artists, and post about their blogs, and feature their artwork, but its been slow going. I will just let the blog evolve and become something worth reading, hopefully!

<atom10:link xmlns:atom10="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" rel="self" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/MorgannasAlterEgo" />
<atom10:link xmlns:atom10="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" rel="hub" href="http://pubsubhubbub.appspot.com/" />

Little pot, apple and pot charcoal and graphite study.

9” X 12” graphite and charcoal, drawn by Shannon Fleet.

Just a little drawing I made last year as a gift. Oh well, I put my full name on here anyway for the sake of my art. But, I figured I'd let people know its me, Morganna making these comments on here!

Of course, I don't like to be forced into anything like this. Everyone who knows me knows I'm Morganna anyway, and the other way around, but...ugh, an aggravating surprise.

Because I had trouble switching my account over to my new gmail address, not all of the forwarded emails are coming through right, so I'm switching to the dreaded captcha DUN DUN DUN!

I really hate to do that, but with the big move to Dayton, and all the bad stuff. I don't want to talk about it. Been bad around here, real bad, The comment moderation went by the way side. I hope the spam doesn't slip its way through, so I'm giving the other way a shot again.

Been back painting again, but slow going, and getting some things done with zazzle. I'll keep you all posted, but I'm a little behind with everything. Correction, I'm allot behind on everything. True, I probably flog myself a little too much, and I need to work on that. But, It really doesn’t matter how long it takes. I’ve put my entire adult life into this, there is no turning back, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s like any other journey, and though I’ve struggled big time, this is the only struggle that has given me something back. Maybe not money yet, but an escape from misery is worth its weight in gold. I could not put it in different words, though I honestly hate to write things like this. Kind of took a different turn from where it started, which was a battle against myself.

So all of you struggling with you’re drawing, or painting, maybe you are in the middle of a project or commission that is getting on your last nerve, Maybe you are just learning to draw, and are really getting upset about it, or struggling. This stuff takes years, and you know it. But, remember this is supposed to be fun, so keep at it. Don’t give up and rob yourself of the possibilities.

Want art advice? This is because you will be at this site scratching deep within the archives, soaking the information in.

I’ve been checking it daily on my RSS reader ever since the first time I found it. And I literally dug way back looking for what I might of missed. How often do you find a place like that?

*opens trench coat* IF you want it, they got it! Its got art tutorials, business advice, blogging advice, selling advice, debate and opinion, interviews, you name it, and it’s all related to art.

However there is a down side to Emptyeasel besides the fact that you can drop an entire day there. Also, there is no way to interact with an article. Not that I do this often but, I enjoy reading comment strings, even really long ones. Not only that, but sometimes golden information can be dug out of the comment hole.

Oh the upside if you click on the writers name, most times it will take you to their blog, where most of the time the writer has posted their article on their site too! Comment strings are like digging up juicy bits of gossip, or being a fly on the wall for me. This site makes up for it in awesomeness, so its really only a minor gripe. At some point they probably raged and pulled their hair out from comment spam like I have. This HAS to be the reason!

If you are an information hoarder like I am, you have to see this site.

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://morgannas-alter-ego.blogspot.com/2011/02/want-art-advice-lose-time-with.html" title="Want art advice? I’ve learned much and improved my skill beyond my wildest dreams. I still have much work to do, but I see the improvements now.

Now I’m taking selling it seriously for the first time. Sure I’ve made a little bit of money here and there, but I mean, I’m really smacking myself in the head, this time, and saying, “lets do this!” Just selling work here there is not cutting it anymore. This is what I want to do.

On this end of art, I’m just starting out. It has always been so scary. Yet another irrational fear, because its not like I have anything to lose,

Now if I can just find the time to pull them all out because of the 900 things I’m normally working on. This is supposed to be a wonderful problem but its not. To have so many ideas and so little time. It’s killing me, I just want them out. I’m excited about them, and know I’m going to struggle with them, oh I know I’ll struggle.

I’m not going to give up on “school” though. I’m always trying to up the level.

The digital sketch book

Mistress of prey? I started full steam ahead, and then literally froze. This is ridiculous given the fact that I am at home, comfortable, and behind my computer.

Of course, I’m not giving up. Selling yourself is apart of being an artist, and a fact of life. Despite how I am, I do have the desire to express myself visually and verbally.

I used to never have a problem maintaining an online presence, I was once extraverted online if not in person, and I never gave it a second thought. I don’t know what happened to me, it may of been all the trouble in my life that caused all of this fear.

I must confess, that this has affected more then just blogging, and has spilled into my entire online life. I lurk where I used to speak, I lurk where I would have spoken, and although I read many, many blogs, websites, and web magazines, I’m afraid to comment anymore. There is this irrational fear that my input will be unwelcomed. I have a pretty full RSS feeder that I enjoy. This is crazy.

But, this is not introversion, as there is nothing wrong with the need to be alone, and I do desire to be alone most of the time. I’m becoming increasingly more shy. That's bad. Especially online, the very thought of it is completely irrational!

I have given this allot of thought, and enough is enough. If I enjoy it, I’m going at least try, fear be damned. How am I going to do this? By pretending I don’t care, the power of suggestion. I may be this way offline, but I’ll be damned if this crap is going to take over the rest of my life. Its an inner need more then a want. If what I say turns out awkward, or just plain weird, so what. And who knows, this might spill over into other parts of my life.

This might take a little time, or no time at all, but I am optimistic because I’ve actually written this post in record time.

Silver summit, landscape drawing.

Silver summit, by Shannon Fleet

12” X 9” Graphite on bristol vellum.

I have never drawn a full landscape before this, and I have not painted one since I was 14, I think. I used to never get any, I don’t understand the new surge of comment spam. Some are really clever and pretend to be a real person, others are super obvious bots.

My original intent was to make my comment section free to allow users posts to show instantly, un moderated, and allow people to be anonymous.

I really don’t know what to do, so many slip past the spam filter, and they seem to come at me from every angle. It really is driving me nuts, not the amount, but the ones that slip through.

I really appreciate comments, and am against censorship, and respect the fact that some people may wish to remain anonymous. But, I’m about forced to either moderate them, or turn on the dreaded word verification. I just have to decide which option has the worse draw backs.

Note, I have already turned comment moderation on old posts on. I’m super bummed about this too, So feel free to comment on any post new or old and I will approve your post ASAP! This will be on here until I figure out what the new blog order is going to be. :(

Yeah, I’m pretty irritated that this is preventing me from having the blog I really wanted.

Damn all you spam bots! DAMN YOU ALL!

Feels good to finally work the courage up to write in here again. Yeah I got scared and froze up after a pretty good reboot. I will not give up though. I just need to keep myself from burning out, and not be so full speed ahead. I normally have a really, really long to do list that only gets bigger before it gets smaller.

Anyhow, this is a good time to tackle this since I’m still trying to choose a new layout, and clean some things up around here. I still want to embed my comments and have them work, rather then the annoying pop out box.

Coffee lovers gifts from my digital painting.

Here is a digital painting I created for zazzle. It depicts a steamy cup of coffee in the center of a warm yellow background.

I painted this in Corel painter, with artist oils for the cup and some digital chalk for the frame and back ground of the greeting card. The greeting says “Lets get together.” I had meant it to be a coffee invitation to a friend.

On the card, that is my handwriting done in impasto goopy. The idea came from a friend of mine. Pulling The idea together was a challenge. I am pleased with the results! Hear that, I said I am pleased!

This drawing, has changed the direction of what kind of art I want to make. At least for my big projects.

It was awesome, like a giant kick in the head. A drawing I still actually have in my hands!

This was part of a weekly drawing challenge I used to participate in. Probably, 20+ artists drew or painted my little foot. I'm pretty damn proud of that! Yes, I am vain about my feet. They are cute, little, and have perfect symmetry! I can wear kid shoes! But most of the time I wear 5 or 5 1/2. In heals it has to be a size 4 1/2.

In the collection of the artist, and attached to her ankle.

Gargoyle

Gargoyle, by Shannon Fleet, (Morganna)

9" X 12" Graphite drawing.
This is a very early drawing of mine! No, I cannot walk in them.

Lets see, it is a platform stiletto, from the shoe company, Devious. Funny, their sizes run very small, my shoes are a size six, and they are only slightly too big for me, and I will normally wear a 5 or 5 1/2, otherwise they fit just fine. It's not like I'm going to "walk" anywhere in them. They are insane! I think they are 14, or 16 inches high?
