Opera Unite Services Rolling In

Opera launched Unite with a lot of fanfare and spectacle a while ago, with huge parts of the web apparently misunderstanding major parts of it’s point, and others only seeing the basic services provided at launch. Now Opera has released another bunch of new services made by the community, and it’s looking more and more promising!

Web Proxy: Allowing you to test and demo a website without launching it fully, supports a wide range of scripts and functions. Definitely worth checking out if you want to hack up your website a bit and test it real-time and quickly.

Stream media: Stream media. What it says. Supports a crazy amount of formats. Definitely worth looking into if you’re keen on sharing the odd video!

Test OpenID Provider: Make your own OpenID Provider? If I’m reading it right. Not quite what I’m into… *grins*

Robots.txt: Avoid having your Unite services indexed!

PkUnite: Publishing and storing a Public Key. I guess I’ll find out what it is in time!

Telenor on TPB & Illegal Filesharing

Today, 09.07.2009, Telenor released a statement (tl;dr format) basically saying:

“We won’t be police, figure out how to compete with piracy since we think it’s possible, and gtfo unless you’ve got a court order telling us to block stuff”.

This is pretty crazy. They actually made a 4kb file that creates this awesome demo, with the music. Granted it’s not HQ music, but still! I’m so impressed with this. 4kb for gods sakes! Elitist Jerks Opera Browser

I know, I know, a lot of Opera stuff lately, but they’re doing a lot of stuff these days!

And now they’ve released an Elitist Jerks version of Opera (download links here).

As we all know, WoW is probably the biggest game in the world right now, or one of them anyways, and there are a lot of mathematics involved in the game for those who are such inclined. Elitist Jerks is the best place to stop by if you want to read what others have found, and engage in some serious discussions about the in-game mechanics. This version also has a lot of relevant RSS feeds, Speed Dials and bookmarks for the happy theorycrafter and hardcore number-cruncher that wants the most out of their characters.

And above all, it’s really, really cool! :D
