DIY Vintage Button Bracelet

Drop by a thrift store and find some vintage buttons – they can easily be made into a bracelet!

You’ll need craft wire (I’ve used aluminium wire), buttons with two holes and a wire cutter. Thread the wire through 8-9 buttons, going up one hole and down the other, as shown on the pictures below. It think it looks good if you put together buttons in slightly different colors and sizes. When I got the bracelet size I wanted, I twirled the wire around the first button closing the bracelet and then I cut off the superfluous wire.

DIY Button Necklace

I’m always looking for new things to make with buttons. Why? Because buttons is something most people have, and if not they are easy to access. The other day I saw a necklace on twitter – easy, cute and done in five minutes. So I decided to make a necklace myself.

To make this you need a small handful of buttons in different sizes and twine. I’ve put the large buttons in the centre of the necklace and the smallest ones out on the sides.

Well, until now I’ve made the button magnets, bow ties, coasters, earrings, clothespins, name flags, bracelets and rings. What more can I make with buttons? Any suggestions? Do comment below!

DIY Pencil Stamped Card

Use pencils as stamps and make your own cards, this is great fun!

This card is heart-shaped, but the sky ( and the imagination) is the limit when it comes to patterns on the cards. This is a quick DIY, I’ve used plain paper and stamps from Tiger. Red, pink, violet and orange might look similar on the pencil eraser, therefore I recommend that you keep them next to the stamped paper, as on the photo above – this way you’ll avoid mixing colors.

DIY Hama Bead Earrings + giveaway

You thought I was done making stuff with Hama beads? No way! This week I’ve been ironing and gluing flower-shaped earrings. 1. To make these you’ll need: 10 Hama beads in two colors (8+2), 2 earring posts and 2 earring backs, E-6000 glue, an iron, baking paper and a pegboard. 2. Start with making as many ‘flowers’ as you want on the pegboard. 3. Iron the ‘flowers’ on one side, take them off the pegboard and iron the other sides as well. 4. Glue on the posts – that’s it!

DIY Book Page Tags

Got any old books you never read? Reuse the pages as tags! 1. Supplies: A paper cutter, a glue stick, a pair of scissors, twine, a perforator and book pages. 2. Start with cutting the shape you want from several layers of book pages. Cut the pages diagonal – it looks better. Make a hole with the perforator. 3. Make a hole on a book page and cut around with the pair of scissors so that you’ll get donut shape. This will go around the hole on the tag. I’ve used donuts from dark pages on tags made from light pages and vice versa. Glue on the donuts on both sides. 4. Attach twine through the tag’s hole. That is all.

I’m gonna save these tags for the birthdays coming up. They’ll fit great with kraft paper wrapping! Have a great & crafty weekend!

DIY Washi Tape Clothespins

Today I’ve freshened up my clothespins with washi tape! Put tape on the clothespin, use a pair of scissors to cut around and use a blade or a utility knife to make the metal belt visible: An easy and quick styling!

DIY Cork Stamp

Make your own small stamp from a wine cork! I’ve wanted to try this ever since I saw this post a year ago. It is quite easy, you need: A cork, a pencil/a pen, a sharp utility knife and of course an ink pad. 1. Draw a shape on top of the cork. A heart is an easy shape that’ll look good. 2. Use the utility knife and cut out the heart. I first tried with a scalpel, but that was quite difficult because the blade was quite small. The knife below worked fine. 3. Try out your new stamp! Now, you can easily see if it is necessary to make further adjustments to the shape. Keep cutting and stamping until you are satisfied with the result.

If you are lucky you might get small cracks in the heart like on the photo below. Good luck!

Pine Cone Decor

Elise (my wife) and I went for a walk the other day and passed a Grey Alder with small beautiful pine cones. We brought home a couple handfuls and they’re perfect as decoration. We put them in glass tea light holders. A very easy way to style your table.

Wire Rings: Make them yourself

Wire rings! I’ve been practicing on making wire rings this Easter, and they are starting to look really good! I had a blog post six months ago called DIY Wire Rings, where I first started to make rings, but now I think I’ve found the perfect way to make them.

1. Supplies: Craft wire (18 gauge), a lip balm/stick, a wire cutter and a flat nosed plier. 2. Start with three pieces of wire, approximately 14 inches/35 cm. 3. Twirl them around the lip balm. 4. When the wires meet on the other side twirl them into each other. 5. Continue to twirl around and around until you get the size you want. 6. Bend three and three wires down to the side of the actual ring and cut off the superfluous part so the the end will come outside the ring – this way you will not scratch your finger when wearing it.
