March seems to be the month for Windows Mobile and Nokia S60. Last March, Google introduced YouTube for both mobile platforms, effectively ending the long shut out Googly Youtube goodness for both OS users. It’s March again, and wouldn’t you know it, there’s a brand new version available for both. Version 2.1 brings some new changes to the UI and an increase in speed.

We strongly believe that faster is better. The YouTube Mobile app is designed to be the fastest way to find and play a video on your smartphone. In the initial release we minimized the number of features and focused on speed for things that matter – app startup, finding a video, and starting playback.

In today’s release we have added search query suggestions, ‘My Account’ support, and a new homescreen user interface that is optimized for larger screens. Now when you log into your YouTube account on our phone, you can view your favorites, subscriptions and playlists from wherever you are. Let’s say you have recently found an amazing basketball shot video and favorited it on your desktop PC. When you’re at the basketball court with your friends all you need to do is launch the YouTube app and go to your “Favorites” to show it to them.

Buzz: How and why am I using this?
Buzzed: Not sure, but I can’t stop
Buzz: Me neither, need help, it’s affecting my tweets!

You don’t know why you gave it a shot but you did and now you’re hooked. Only problem is, you’re still a little confused and you’ve yet to unlock the full fury of the Buzz on your iPhone or Android device. Well, Google Mobile Blog to the rescue!

Here are five more tips on how to Buzz like you know what you’re doing:

1. Post buzz with your voice.
You can post your public buzz simply by speaking it. From the Google Mobile App for iPhone or Quick Search Box on Android, select the voice search icon, say “post buzz” followed by the text you’d like to post, and watch your words appear. Before your post is sent, you’ll be able to edit it or change its tagged location.

2. Filter the Nearby tab for a specific place.
From the Nearby tab, you can easily filter buzz by a specific place, such as a sushi restaurant you’re about to walk by, to only see posts from that place. Open the menu showing nearby places, for example “Tartine Bakery and 20+ other locations nearby,” and then select a specific place from the list. Now, you’ll see all the public buzz anyone’s ever posted from that place or you can quickly create a post that is tagged with the place. To go back, just open the same menu and select your current location shown with the blue dot. You’ll once again see all the recently posted buzz around your location.

3. Search!
As you’d expect from any Google product, Google Buzz for mobile has a powerful search feature that lets you search all public buzz for topics that interest you. Open the menu or just select the magnifying glass icon to see the search bar. You can also search specifically for nearby posts by checking the “Search nearby” box before submitting your search (it’s already checked if you’re in the Nearby tab). Now you can find out what people around you are saying about the closest pizza spot or a traffic jam.

4. Post from your city-level location.
Tagging a post with your location is easy and adds context to your buzz posts. Sometimes, your post isn’t about a specific place or you’d rather not share your exact location. You can easily show your city-level location, so your post has a general city location tagged and will be browsable in the Nearby view and Maps Buzz layer. When posting, just select the “>” in the location box, scroll down, and select the city-level location option.

5. Refresh your location.
On the other hand, sometimes you really want your location to be exact. When you visit the Nearby tab or want to tag your post with a location, Google Buzz will try to get your location using your phone’s GPS. If you’re not happy with the location accuracy, you’re moving, or you’re just stepping outside to get a GPS signal, hit the ‘refresh’ icon to tell the Google Buzz web app to get your location again. It’s INCREDIBLE, the HTC Incredible has been outed again. The Verizon device that seems to be the brother/sister of the fabled Sprint Supersonic has been info leaked onto the Android Forums. This is going to be a pretty darn nice handheld, and will most likely end any further sales of the Droid Eris.

Yes, I will be trying this at home! hocking but true, the Android OS has found yet another home, albeit a much smaller one, forcing it to leave some of it’s belongings behind. Some full time geniuses over creating The XDAndroid project, have have some fantastic results getting the Android OS ported onto a HTC Touch Pro 2, which if you don’t know, is a Windows Mobile device. Then word came that it has been loaded onto a HTC Touch Diamond with success. Not all the components are working without flaw, but enough to get the CDMA device up and running with WiFi capability. It’s nice to know that there is now something to fill and entire afternoon with.

The plastic tells of how after you have spent all of your RealityTV show money on purses and the such, that money you spend on plastic surgery will have to come from credit cards.

Assemblyman Felix Ortiz (D-Brooklyn) has introduced a bill that would make the usage of salt during food preparation a crime. If busted shaking a little salt on a burger that is on the grill or prep table, the offending shaker could receive a $1,000 fine.

I have been a staunch Apple fanboy since the early 90’s, and I am happy that Apple is now on the tongues of computer users around the globe. But I have to admit, the company is really beginning to lose it. The restrictions that are being placed on products and applications is getting sickening. Apple is truly on their way to surpassing Microsoft ad becoming the “China of the computing world.”

In fact, I am sure that Apple is turning off just has many fans as they actually gain daily, keeping the growth from truly blowing up. The whole “explicit content” thing is really F’d-up. Purging thousands of apps simply because breast are shown, on a device with parental controls installed for just that very reason, is disgusting, sad and…wait…could it be, censorship.

From the company that brought you, shake a girl naked, Bild’s “Shake the Bild Girl”, comes a possible good fight. The German company looks ready to fight Apple on the merits of censorship.

Each month, subscribers to the Bild magazine and or the “Shake the Bild Girl” get treated to a little nakedness on their “Paid, subscriptions fee” based app. But Apple said nope, no more nipples, please, you remove.

No word has come from Apple as of yet as it pertains to this particular fight, but I am very interested in what they have to say. Funny how life is isn’t? The last company one would expect to become closed minded, is always the first to close the door.

This is a great interview with Andy Richter. We finally get to hear how he really felt about NBC yanking the Tonight Show away from Conan and himself. Andy pulls no punches when asked by Kelly, just how he feels. Has this happened to you? You’re on the freeway, you pass a slow driver in front of you but when it’s safe to slow to regular speed, you’re Toyota says, not right now. That’s what happened to a California man. His Prius gas pedal stuck and sent his emissions saving vehicle to speeds upwards of 90mph before highway patrol was able to slow him to a stop.

I think the Lohan thingy, chick, whatever the kids are calling her these days, has officially lost her freaking mind. Everyone thought it happened about 2 years ago, nope. Just happened. Lohan has filled suit in Nassau County Supreme Court, claiming that the latest E-Trade commercial is about her. Basically, if you and your buddies started laughing your asses off when it played during the SuperBowl, you were laughing because it was about her being an alcoholic and woman stealer. The Little baby girl that pops up in the ad is named “Lindsay”.

And we all knew that, we all put two and two together and you said “Hey, they’re talking about Linsay Lohan.” Then your buddy said, “Yeah, that’s why it’s funny”.

Now Lindsay wants a court to make E-Trade hand her $100 million dollars. It’s like a freakin’ Dr. Evil demand, “I’ll take…Uh…One Million Dollars!”

Sooooo, this is what goes on in the wee hours of the morning. The Today Show thought it a good idea to go ahead with a concoction from a new mother, Breast Milk Cheese. The woman and her husband decided to whip up some cheese from her left-over breast milk and serve it. A stage hand who didn’t hear the conversation walked onto the stage floor and unknowingly took the bait, he tried it on camera.

He ate some strange womans breast milk that had been cultured into cheese.

If you’ve been under a rock somewhere in never never land, you probably didn’t get the word that Verizon will allow users to Skype over their network. This is great news for anyone with a Skype account and friends and family with accounts as well. Those high monthly bills could come down a bit, or, if you don’t have unlimited data, go up a bit. Regardless, info on the whole deal has been minimal at best. But Verizon seems to be ready to talk VoIP because they’ve posted a video showing potential users just how easy and “fun” it is. So if you’ve never swam the VoIP high seas, this may be a capable teacher for what’s to come. If you’ve been using Skype or any other VoIP client for already, this may just be a slightly entertaining way to waste a few minutes.

Either our favorite starship captain has finally, truly lost his mind, or he has gone and done something that is pure genius. William Shatner has launched his very on social networking site. Now, the last thing this planet needs is yet another social networking site. The last thing you need is another site you must sign up for and create passwords and crap, but something tells me, you, me, we will do it if just to listen to Kirk talk.

The idea behind MyOuterSpace.com, is to bring like minded creative individuals together to express their love of Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy. In doing so, users will have the opportunity to become “Captains” of projects if projects are deemed good enough to follow through on.

GeekOSystem sums it up nicely:

1. It’s a “Sci-Fi Social Network for those with a passion for the arts”: So no, this isn’t just another Trekkie fan forum.

2. It’s a network geared toward people who seek a career in the creation/production of science fiction, horror, and fantasy.

3. The network is divided into 12 categories–six “planets” and six “starships”. Each planet represents a subcategory in the entertainment arts (Designers/Animators, Writers/Directors, Musicians/Composers, Gamers/Game Developers, Film/TV Producers, and Actors/Actresses/Comedians).

4. Each starship represents a larger creative project that, if you’re deemed worthy, you can be assigned to by a ship’s captain. The site seems to suggest that these six main projects will ultimately be curated by Shatner himself.

5. Yes, the metaphor of starships/planets as entertainment industry carries through everything–to the point of confusion. If you’re selected to work on a project/starship, you become a “crew member.” Admins of the site form the interplanetary “Counsel.”

6. MyOuterSpace.com is hiring, er, I mean recruiting: “The Counsel is now interviewing Industry Credited Producers for Starship Captain Positions.”

From Mary Tyler Moore to Saturday Night Live, Sue Ann Nivens (Betty White) and her comedic talents keep going, and going… At age 88, the longtime star is enjoying a resurgence of respect that’s long overdo. The star of Golden Girls starred in a Snickers ad during the SuperBowl that turned out to be the only ad worth watching. That prompted a Facebook page to launch calling on the actress to host SNL. White said the idea was ridiculous, but it has now been announced that she will be a host in the very near future.

Wonder what the Vegas odds are on her hosting debut being the funniest SNL in a decade? I’d bet on it.

Sure, it could have been a million different things going on in Samuel Jackson’s head when the camera caught this expression after Mo’Nique’s acceptance speech at Sunday’s nights Oscars. Yeah, again. Another female teacher has been busted in what seems to be an epidemic of female teachers having sex or trying to have sex with their students. This time the culprit is 41-year-old English teacher, Melinda Dennehy. Dennehy sent nude pictures of herself to her 15-year-old student. Authorities also say that along with the pics, Dennehy sent word of what she wanted to do with the teen student at Londonderry High School in New Hampshire.

Dennehy turned herself in, but was released on bail and cannot be around anyone under 16.

I am still blown away at how this is treated when it comes to females sexually abusing young boys.

Sorry, I know that I am in the minority, but I didn’t think “The Hurt Locker” was a Oscar worthy film when I saw, and I still don’t.  A very good movie, yes, well done, well written.  But 6 Oscars?  Each year when flicks like this get heralded, I always go back to the fact that Martin Scorsese didn’t get an Oscar until The Departed.   And as far as I am concerned, it was a make up gift because it’s not an Oscar caliber film, and nowhere near his best work.

Alice in Wonderland stepped into the Box Office ring and beat the competition with both it’s hands tied behind it’s back.  The newest Tim Burton film opened with a 3 day total of $116M, most of which was 3D take.  The astounding figure makes this collaboration with Disney, the highest opening of a 3D movie of all time, and Burton’s best opening to date.

Alice even beat out Avatar’s opening of $55M.  Alice didn’t just break the American bank, the film had a huge opening worldwide makings it’s total 3 day take a sizable $210 million.  $210 million dollars in 3 days.

There are a lot of could be’s and not enough ’should be’s’ with possible scoop. Word has it that AT&T will soon be the proud adopted parents of the Palm Pre Plus and the Pixi Plus, a fact we all knew to be true very soon. But deep within that truth lays a bit of fiction, and sometimes fiction can be born of reality.

It looks as though there could be a new WebOS device coming, and when it comes it may show up first on AT&T. Forum members have uncovered some slides that show cases on the ready for a new device called the ‘Elan’. But before you get too excited, remember, Elaln was the company that sued Apple over multitouch patents. There could be a little bit of shenanigans going on here. Considering AT&T being the lead off for a new Palm device, well, that makes me lean towards the shenanigans side of things.
