This lovely Victorian home was built in 1884 for a man named Alex Moseley from Boston, Mass, who owned a Hide and Leather tanning business. He lived on Commonwealth Ave and wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. Finding the perfect spot in Bar Harbor, close to the action of down town, yet secluded enough to enjoy quiet summer evenings he built, what is now, one of the best BnB’s in Bar Harbor.

During the summer months he brought his wife and two daughters (Ellen and Annie) along with their staff to Bar Harbor. The staff included a chef, and accompanying servants. Throughout the years and renovations we have kept as much original craftsmanship and features as possible. Much like the overhead cistern located in The Cadillac Room.

Cadillac – Restroom

One of his daughters, Annie, was disowned because she married a New Yorker. The other daughter Ellen (nick named Ellie) was single. On Christmas morning one year there was a knock on the front door and a baby was found left on the doorstep bundled in a basket. Ellie adopted her and named her Sylvia. She had an amazing life. Ellie made sure she had the best education and exposed her to the world and all of it’s cultural experiences.

He did an amazing job transitioning us from the old to the new. We now are able to change anything we want ourselves. He made it very simple to understand and he has wonderful ideas. I would highly recommend him for anyone looking for computer and network services. Go to MikeArruda.com to see his website or call 207.664.4271.

We will be celebrating our 100th birthday. The rugged coast of Maine has been drawing people for many years. Today visitors come to Acadia to hike granite peaks, bike historic carriage roads, ride the horse drawn carriages, drive the 27 mile Ocean Drive. The Jordan Pond house is a favorite stop in the park for fresh popovers and tea.
