(1968-1972). For much of this period, Navy aircraft sought to hamper the flow of supplies down the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos, a huge investment in air power resources that ultimately proved fruitless. After North Vietnam's invasion of the South in 1972, however, Navy tactical aviation, as well as naval gunfire support, proved critical not only in blunting the offensive but also in persuading North Vietnam to accept a peace agreement in Paris in 1973:

LINK

INTERNSHIPS AT ALPL

Do you know a college or graduate student who wants to work in a museum or archives? Here's a great opportunity for that student:

Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum - Various, Seasonal Interns (Springfield,Illinois, U.S.)

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) is committed to providing challenging opportunities and career-enhancing experiences to college and graduate students. Whether working directly with the public or in administrative departments, interns contribute to the museum and library's mission. They work as part of a skilled team, assisting on significant projects as well as day-to-day operations.

The intern program operates through the ALPLM Education Department. Internships are available within a variety of departments in both the Library and Museum. An internship with the ALPLM benefits students by providing professional experience and an overview of the museum and library fields. Interns have the opportunity to gain useful skills, and the chance to build a strong professional network. References gained through work as an intern can be helpful in securing future employment and admission to further programs of study.

Eligibility: The ALPLM internship program is open to qualified college students, recent graduates or graduate students. Interns from all majors and interests are encouraged to apply.

Remuneration: ALPLM internships are unpaid. However, certain grant-funded projects may include stipends for interns.

Academic Credit: The ALPLM encourages interns to seek academic credit for their internship and will assist in any way to help the intern receive it. Contact your advisor or department chair to inquire about your school's requirements.
Duration: Internships usually take place throughout the typical academic spring, summer or fall semester.

Deadlines: Spring (January-May) November 1; Summer (May-August) March 1; Fall (September-December) July 1

Mail or email to: Carol Manning, Adult Education Coordinator, ALPLM, 212 North Sixth Street, Springfield, IL 62701

For more information visit: http://www.alplm.org/education/interns.html
