Smithsonian Channel Digital is seeking a digital project manager to both shepherd individual initiatives from brainstorming through completion, and maintain the overall project roadmap and workflow. Sample projects could include creation of new apps, promoting new series, creating new site features, or other such digital media endeavors. Our ideal candidate is flexible and enterprising, thrives in a small team and startup atmosphere, and is passionate about digital media and non-fiction programing. A successful project manager will lead a workflow process that assures seamless integration across multiple digital touch points and increases content distribution.

Program/Portfolio Management for Digital Media

Work with executive team to develop strategic roadmap and departmental priorities
Facilitate and participate in weekly project prioritization meeting with executive team, forecasting future resource needs, identifying possible risks, and reprioritizing projects based on any new change requests or green-lit projects
Assess and identify potential improvements to overall program/project process
Coordinate the process and the execution of portfolio projects across all main functional areas (Editorial, Product/Technology, Marketing)
Manage the departmental budget
Project Management for Digital Media
Document the scope of work with help from functional leads, and validate against timeline, budget and resources
Develop the project plan and schedule, including all necessary steps to complete project
Clearly organize and forecast deliverables and dependencies
Ensure proactive scheduling of all aspects of the production with various teams involved
Create specification documents for assigned projects
Manage the full lifecycle of projects from initial scope and requirements through to QA and launch
Manage project scope and execute change control when additional requests for features or functionality are made to ensure on-time project deliverables
Manage day-to-day tasks and have in-depth involvement to allow for early identification of potential challenges
Lead and actively engage in QA of ongoing projects
Track and deliver digital assets for third party platforms and digital marketing initiatives.

Qualifications:

5+ years experience leading programs and projects of varying sizes; managing cross-functional teams and both internal resources and external vendors
Expertise in project management software such as MS-Project, Basecamp and JIRA
Excellent program and full cycle project management skills. PMI or other related certification, as well as Agile experience is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational, analytical and documentation skills
Proficient knowledge of system development lifecycles
Strong leadership and presentation skills
Able to work both collaboratively and independently
Extremely detail-oriented, flexible and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated creative problem-solving abilities

Our Mesa, AZ office is looking for a Production Support Analyst (PSA) who will be responsible for receiving, tracking, coordinating and testing Production level issues. You will be working with many different groups and on many simultaneous issues and requests. This person will be the business representative of the client(s) and will convey the needs of the client(s) to the development and quality assurance teams.

Over time the Production Support Analyst will have a great knowledge of all systems and be responsible for answering questions, doing system research, and planning improvements to both the system and Production Support processes.

This position will be a combination of Product/Project Manager, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service. Any background or ability in such roles is a bonus.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Issue Management and Coordination

Receive and prioritize incoming issues and requests against existing issues, and tracking and reporting on such issues.
Coordinate the workloads of engineers based upon issue priority as related to financial implications, severity and breadth of the issue, estimated completion time, available resources and other factors to maximize quality output.
Coordinate the communication and workflows between Product Management, Client Services, Quality Assurance, Engineering and IT.

Request Fulfillment

Requests for internal data and explanations are also a large part of Production Support. Often queries must be answered promptly and with extreme accuracy.
SQL/Database systems knowledge is a MUST, as well as data manipulation techniques and Advanced Microsoft Excel function knowledge.

Time Management and Communication

Person must be very reliable and present during operational hours as issues will be reported directly through the PSA. Occasionally large and urgent issues may require additional time in the office.
This person will wear many hats and will need to be able to manage multiple and incoming workloads simultaneously.
Communication between most all groups of the company, including overseas teams, will be required. Concise and detailed e-mails, instant messages, phone conversations, and in-person requests are very common, and must be communicated clearly, with brevity, and are often very technical and detailed.
Database Systems, Web Systems, and backend systems are often discussed with developers and IT. These are very specific and any misunderstanding could be detrimental

Qualifications:

BS degree in Business Management along with 5 years of experience
Must have strong Excel, SQL/Database systems - Experience with data manipulation techniques and Advanced Microsoft Excel function knowledge.
Experience working with Java preferred
Previous SaaS (Software as a Service) environment experience highly desired

OK, so you have read this kind of job ad about a bazillion times. As such, we will save each other some time and just cut to the chase. We are looking for a freelance developer to convert PSDs into responsive WordPress themes, themes with pixel-level precision.

And who are we? We are a small, boutique web design and development company, specializing in responsive WordPress sites. We work with freelancers to help us not only be able to scale to project needs, but also (and more importantly) to be able to better match designers and/or developers to specific projects where there is a high-quality fit.

In a nutshell, we are looking for someone ultra-reliable, super-sharp, with a keen attention to detail. You know, all of the usual stuff. Bonus points if you have a good sense of humor and take providing exceptional quality and helpful service very seriously.

With regard to this role, we also need someone who this isn’t their first responsive rodeo, and who knows WordPress like the back of their hand. And, it probably goes without saying, we need someone who can do pixel-precise work, getting things right the first time. A lot of time goes into the PSDs and we need themes that capture them completely and accurately. We have clients that are sensitive down to the pixel, so quality and precision really, really count.

Most importantly, though, we need someone that is not only highly communicative, but also rock-solid reliable. We pride ourselves on not only being responsive with our websites, but also with our communication to our clients. This is a service business after all, and we take the service elements of what we do very, very seriously. As such, we need the people who work with us to be cut from the same cloth.

As far as our process goes, we are BIG believers in things like frameworks, (flexible) boilerplate, child themes, and standardized ways of doing things (assuming they do not cut into the custom-quality of the project). Not only does this give consistency for the clients, but should also make building things go faster and faster. It is our opinion that a project completed with exceptional quality, as fast as possible, is a win/win/win.

All work will be project-based, waxing and waning as the work comes in. We have one project in the pipe right now we need help with, with several others pending. As far as compensation goes, standard freelance rules apply (usually 50% down and 50% on client sign-off, often paid the same day).
