</div><div style="text-align: center;">On September 12th at 3:36 PM we welcomed Collin Gabriel into our lives. He weighed 7lbs, 9oz and was 21.75 inches long. He boasts some ridiculously long legs, big hands, big feet and the sweetest strawberry blonde hair. We are loving getting to know our little monkey man! He's just so precious.</div><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Labor and delivery was very fast and easy... Remarkably so. My water broke at 7AM and by 3:36 PM he was in our arms. All in a day's work! I pushed for a total of 30 minutes. Guess he was eager to get a jump start on life outside the womb!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">We find ourselves just staring at him non stop. Even though I'm not getting much sleep these days, I wouldn't trade momma-hood for anything. He truly is a gift from God!</div><br />

I've been a bit of a blogging dead beat lately. Blame it on the relentless heat and me being nine months pregnant. Besides drinking water like a crazy woman (to keep my ankles from swelling), what have I been up to?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Well, let's just say I have come to the understanding that the nesting instinct is for real and it plays itself out in odd ways. Most recently it manifested itself in a frenetic laundry room cleaning blitz, but can also be blamed for banana bread baking, shower curtain bleaching, obsessive categorizing of baby clothes by size, and a full day's worth clean up of all computer files for my business.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div>This story starts out quite nicely. I was perusing the wares at the local Goodwill, a place I frequent, when suddenly I saw it... Unassumingly rolled up, partially hidden by another rug. What's this? A 9x12, wool, beauty of an area rug in a sweet rusty red/ burnt orange color. What? No stains? No permanent marker artwork, courtesy of a four year old still in time-out for the atrocity? Nothing wrong with it except for a small fraying corner, which could easily be tucked under furniture? This can't be!<br />
<br />
It looked familiar... Where had I seen this rug before? Ah, yes! Right <a href="http://www.potterybarn.com/products/henley-rug-cranberry/?cm_src=rel">here</a>, in the pages of the Pottery Barn catalog for a cool $749, said in my best Robin Leech voice ala "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."<br />

So, I played the preggo lady card and had the wonderful staff load it into the back of my car after paying a mere $50. I was so excited! First, I thought it could go in the nursery. A perfect rug for baby to play on! Upon getting home and measuring said nursery, it was clear that, unless we cut the beautiful thing down, the entire room would be engulfed in rug-dom. So, the next best spot for the charmer was the living room. When Nick came home he helped me get it out of the car and we rolled it out on to the hardwoods. A quick vacuuming and I was ready to behold its beauty!<br />
<br />
Here's where things take a turn... It stunk! We're talking about a majorly bad pet smell. Not really pet urine, per se, but definitely dander of some sort. Arg! Why did I not notice this before buying it?! In my defense, there are so many "interesting" smells at thrift establishments and I guess I just couldn't detect it from the eau de mothball that permanently wafts through their airspace.<br />
<br />
We have tried the whole baking soda/vacuum trick, febreezing it, and even had it professionally cleaned by a carpet cleaning service. No such luck. The odor has weakened, but it's still there and I'm starting think it's a lost cause.<br />
<br />
Do you, dear reader, have any suggestions? We are not above rolling up our sleeves and scrubbing the thing to death! I would be so very happy if we could save the poor thing.<br />

So, you'll remember that just a few posts ago, I talked about doing a forest themed nursery for baby. Well, the adorable owl fabric I so loved for the crib bedding sold out and I was forced to move in another direction. You may be thinking, "I thought she was doing stripes and leaves for the bedding..." I was planning on that, but the owls won my heart, then broke my heart and now I have settled on a new theme that is, in my opinion, very fun.<br />

Baby is kicking up a storm and we are finally all settled into our new place. Stay tuned for a house tour, minus baby room, coming soon. I have yet to really start in on the nursery. We do, however, have a crib and a dresser, so that's progress!<br />

Ever since we found out we were having a boy, I have been tossing around ideas for how to decorate the nursery. I really wanted to stay away from a theme, but lately a handful of woodland themed articles have warmed my heart. Some are way out of our price range, but the inspiration is good and I <s>think</s> hope, with a bit of creativity and elbow grease, I'll be able to pull off this look for much less!<br />

Other news on the homefront, my fabulous mother-in-law is making our baby's crib bumper and skirt. I'm really, really excited!<br />

The plan (as of right now) is to decorate the nursery in aqua, orange, and yellow. That's "the plan," but really the nursery will be a sort of vintage-mish mash. I want to stay away from getting too matchy-matchy or themed. And, this way we'll be keeping all the major items pretty gender neutral and reusable for future bambinos. P.S. We find out if it's a girl or a boy on April 18th!<br />

I affectionately call it "the Bungalow," which it kind of is. It's a 3 bedroom 1948 renovated charmer, within walking distance of Nick's work and historic, downtown Norcross. There is even a fantastic park with tennis courts, a walking trail, and pool down the street. I think baby and I will be spending lots of time there next summer!<br />
