As part of his plan to close the state budget gap our Governor is proposing to extend the sales tax to cover all veterinary services. Instead of practicing fiscal responsibility (the very issue he unseated Gray Davis on), he’s shifting some of the burden to animal lovers.

This tax would make veterinary services more expensive, make adoptions more expensive, and add administrative overhead to already over-extended shelters and rescue organizations. This is also a slippery slope – what’s next, taxing doctors visits?

Be an activist! You can voice your opinion on this (it does make a difference!) by calling the Governor’s hotline and voting.
