So here it is, my Michelle Armas piece, titled 'Miller' hung in my living room. I'd be content to sit, sigh, and gaze at it A L L D A Y...but alas, I'm off to Blogfest 2012. Wooohooo! And besides I can have visitation with this picture any time on my iPhone.

So, I must pack, and can't forget these bad boys... I'm LOVING these gam covers almost as much as my new art, and I've received so many compliments on how wicked hot my ikat pants are. So when you discover something amazing it's only appropriate to share, right?? Well, I highly recommend. Do you think my friend Melissa will mind if I wear them every. single. day?! This is the image I posted on instagram that prompted questions about what cosmetics I use. I used to have a million blushes, shadows, etc. I recently simplified and edited out all my old cosmetics. The above is basically all I have in my makeup bag now, with the addition of eyeshadow in Espresso and Ivory (here), black mascara (here) and my beloved Jane Iredale mineral makeup (here).

My house is rife with flu but I'm keeping up. The juju hat arrived and was hung. I kinda think it's perfect.

Other happenings... Last summer I lucked upon a last minute session with Blue Lily.Words can't express how much we loved meeting these amazing people- they're special humans, that's for sure.

What does LL remember most about the day?? The nice people and the goat (really a sheep) who peed. Great.

Anyways, I'm finally getting the images framed and hung and there are more to come. Can't wait.

Last, the jacket I blogged here -originally purchased here- Similar jacket in stock/available here. And, one of my favourite things about spring is getting out my bamboo handle gucci. It was a design school grad gift to myself and I still adore it.

I'm still on a roll and decided much too late last night that I'd tackle a DIY. I raced to Home Depot before they closed and bought wallpaper paste and cracked out the marbled paper I've been hoarding for my china cabinets.

Spring Fever

I can't help myself at this time of year. I feel cooped up and always start attacking my home in an effort to brighten up for spring. My living room was the target this weekend. I've had the art piece below (giant chess knight) for years. LOVE him. I moved him and the painting above from another room. The painting is coincidentally called 'All Is Bright' and was actually used in this Sarah Richardson Design show installation here.

Then this designers guild cushion found it's way home with me. If it doesn't brighten things up nothing will. I enlisted my boys to help move all of the furniture. They LOVE doing these sorts of things on a Sunday afternoon. Well maybe not. But a bit of bribery with video games doesn't hurt right? Oh, and we saw the Hunger Games. Loved it! Hope your weekend was a good one too! xo

Spring!

I'm delighted that it's warm enough here today to wear new my Tory Burch flats. They've been sitting in my closet all winter waiting to be brought out on the first sunny day.

Also a HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout out to my eldest boy, Connor. He was the very best first day of spring delivery I could ever ask for. Love you CC! xoxo

Monday Monday

Hello lovers. Life has been so busy but generally awesome lately. Do you ever have those times when everything seems to fall in to place? I have this amazing sense of clarity and strength, and good things are happening... one of those things being a massive closet overhaul. It was long overdue and the results are making me crazy happy.
I swapped closets and paired everything by colour on one side and hung all the black and white on the other. Here's peek at what it turned out like. I'm kinda in love.

Most of all it felt great to give away clothes I wasn't using to someone who could. I feel like I have a wardrobe whittled down to the pieces I absolutely love... no filler. And who knows, it never hurts to make some room for the new spring things that just happen my way, right?

Every Voice Makes a Difference

I've never used Moth Design to spread a word or message but today I'd like to do just that and I ask you, to keep in mind this is something that my whole family feels very passionately about.
The UN has stated years ago that the situation in Uganda is the worst humanitarian crisis today. A rebel army called the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army), run by a man named Joseph Kony, literally steals children in the night.

This is my name campaign dog tag that I've been wearing since 2005. It bears the name of a Ugandan child, Walter O. aged 12. I've often wondered what happened to Walter, while looking at my own boys wistfully, and have felt overwhelmed with gratitude that I can provide them with something as simple as a safe place to sleep.

Please take a minute to watch this video... if you don't already know about the LRA and the crisis in Uganda this video will explain and, at the very least will give you that overwhelming gratitude as well.

If you've already seen this video a million times in the last few days sorry, but I really felt I needed to share with those who haven't. This is one of those times when you can actually make a difference by signing a pledge here. If you wish, you can donate here, or visit the shop here.

Writing My Own Fortune

I got this darling silver fortune cookie on a trip to San Francisco at Gumps. My dear friend got one too. We made a pact to fill them with wishes and goals for ourselves.
There's something awesome and empowering about writing your own fortune. Resting on my side table, it catches my eye every morning and reminds me of all that I have to be grateful for.
Update: I've already received 3 emails inquiring where else the fortune cookie can be found. I discovered they carry both gold and silver at Shopbop (here). I think I may need a gold one now too. Cheers and good fortune to all! xo

Jacket Chasing

I've done a little online shopping lately. The jacket below sent me on a wild goose chase to find it. I must have clicked through at least 12 tumblr, to pinterest, back to tumblr back to pinterest, links to find it's source. Happy to say it was SOOOO worth the hunt. My jacket is from Queen'sWardrobe and has been sold out a couple of times... but can be found here. Similar jacket in stock/available here

I spruced things up around the house yesterday... played with vignettes and came up with this little montage for my Master fireplace mantle.

This 'BonBons' jar may be my favourite new thing. Everything seems a little sweeter stashed here.

Happy Friday Lovers! We all know fashion and home decor are closely linked. I'm a fan of dots. I'm sure lots of us have been fans of dots, stripes, plaid, etc... all of our lives. So, I'm not claiming any radical vision here, but I just wanted to say I like them. I love this scotch & soda dotted blouse. I'm sure people think I only have one shirt given the frequency I wear it. I had a silk jumpsuit, (yeah, you just read that right) similar fabric, early 90s. Loved it too!

So, here's the home decor part...Wool. Homesense. Awesome.
I saw this 9x12 goodness and couldn't stop thinking about it and having constant visitation with the image on my iPhone. I realized late last night, Holy Crap! What if someone else loves it too?! I better run out and buy it, if it's still there, or I'll regret not getting it forever. Ever have that happen? When you don't buy something you love, and you get a case of 'non-buyers-remorse'? Hate that.

Well, I raced out and got it. Lucky me, apparently it's been on hold several times and was too big for the other poor suckers who wanted it, and there it was, still waiting for me. I will be enlisting some boys to help me bring it in from the truck later today. And I'm thinking it will be at home in our living room. Don't you think?

I also have the most fabulous black ornate mirror to be hung on the marble wall. I'm too afraid to drill the holes myself though.... waiting on someone to come and hang it for me. In the meantime, I'm loving how this room keeps coming together in subtle and not so subtle layers.

I came across these show posters available through La La Land Posters by artist Kii Arens. They popped up on My Habit yesterday. Bat for Lashes is a music fave...I think the popsicle one could be sweet in a kids room. I have all the art my walls can take, so for now, I'll have to wait.

I kinda love them though. Happy Wednesday!
