I'd like to thank everyone who has contacted us via email, Facebook, Twitter, and Get Satisfaction to discuss the acquisition of Motionbox technology by Snapfish/HP. We've always been a customer-driven company, and we appreciate all of your feedback, both positive and negative.

We're glad that so many of our members -- especially Premium customers -- have been pleased with the service we've been providing at Motionbox. Snapfish/HP acquired our technology platform for the same features and functionality that drew many of you to Motionbox: Support for almost any video format, crystal-clear HD playback, online editing, private sharing, and more. The brilliant engineers who built the Motionbox platform will be working with Snapfish immediately after the transition to start incorporating these features into the Snapfish Home Videos service.

Motionbox Premium members are entitled to a free full year of Snapfish Home Videos service. I highly recommend that you try it out. Store an unlimited number of videos securely, together with your digital photos. Send your feedback and feature requests to Snapfish, and watch the service grow. With Motionbox video technology and the security and resources of Snapfish/HP, the sky's the limit.

I understand that many of you have invested a great deal of time and energy in uploading your video memories to Motionbox, and that downloading them all back to your computer by August 10th is a daunting -- and in some cases, impossible -- task. Together with Snapfish, we are working on a way for you to migrate all of your videos over to a new or existing Snapfish account in one easy step. You can expect to receive a follow-up email with instructions on how to transfer your videos to Snapfish early next week. In the meantime, we recommend that you download copies of any Motionbox video that you no longer have on your hard drive.

On behalf of the entire Motionbox team, I'd like to take a moment to thank you for your ongoing support and feedback. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact customer support or post a comment below. I will do my best to reply to your comments personally.

Josh Grotstein
CEO, Motionbox

Snapfish by HP has signed an agreement to acquire the Motionbox technology platform. Since the earliest days of Motionbox (way back in 2005), our mission has been to make sharing personal video as easy and fun as sharing photos. We’ve always envisioned a service that would enable customers to manage all of their digital memories – still photos as well as videos – in one place, unlocking even more creative ways to share unforgettable moments with friends and family. We believe that Snapfish can make this vision a reality for millions of people around the world.

We know that you have invested a lot in the Motionbox service, starting with your treasured video memories, and want to make it as easy as possible for you to preserve your videos. Please read this FAQ carefully for more information.

Although we've had blog posts about Facebook before, we've been getting a lot of inquiries about exactly how to get your Motionbox videos on Facebook. This post should sum it up! There are currently 3 ways you can go about it:

1. Connect your Motionbox account to your existing Facebook account by clicking on the "Facebook Connect" button on the right hand side of your Motionbox Profile page. Then, go to your Motionbox account's privacy settings page and click on the checkbox next to "Always post my public videos to Facebook" at the bottom of the page. Now that your Motionbox account is connected to your Facebook account, all of your new Open Access videos on Motionbox will immediately be posted to your Facebook wall and show up on your friends' news feeds. For older videos uploaded before you connected your Motionbox account to Facebook, see option 2 or 3.

2. If you don't necessarily want all of your Open Access videos being shared with your Facebook friends, you can pick and choose which video you want to post on your Facebook wall by by clicking on the "Share on Facebook" link that's below every video player. Please note this will work for Open Access and Private videos, but not Protected videos.

3. If you want to manually share an individual video, you can also copy the URL of your Open Access or Private video from your browser and post it as a link on your Facebook page.

I hope this helps!

On Motionbox, you can edit your videos by using the Rotate feature, the Trim feature, and the Motionbox Mixer. The Rotate and Trim features are pretty self-explanatory, but we get loads of questions on what the Motionbox Mixer does and how to use it. The Mixer allows you to make new videos from your existing videos. Edit a video down to the good parts, reorder them, combine several together...it's all up to you. Think of it as a highlight reel of all your good stuff!

Here are some frequently asked questions about how to edit videos on Motionbox:

How do I add my video(s) to the Mixer?

1) Go to the folder holding your video(s).
2) Click on the small check box to the left of your video's title (and you can choose more than one video too, if you'd like to combine a few videos into a single video).
3) Click on the "Add To" link in the blue menu bar.
4) Choose "mixer" from the drop-down menu.
5) Click the "Add and Go to Mixer" button on the pop-up screen.

How do I re-order videos in the Mixer?

Reorder your videos by dragging and dropping them in the video list panel.

How do I trim the beginning or end of my video?

There two ways you can do this, with the Mixer and without.

1. Edit using the Mixer: When you first come to your Mixer, the selection handles will be situated at the beginning and end of each of your videos. You can drag them individually to new points in the video to edit the start and end times.

As you drag the handles, you'll notice that the footage falling outside of the selected area will gray out. The grayed-out areas of your video have been cropped out of your mix.

2. Use the simple "Trim" function located just to the right of your video on its playpage. You can drag the handles on each side of the video to trim it as you'd like. Hit the play button to preview the video. Then click on "Save" if you want to override your existing video or "Save as new video" to add a new edited version of your video to your account. You don't have to use the Mixer with this option.

I want to remove a clip from the middle of my video. How do I do that?

If you have a 15-second video and want to remove the middle 5 seconds, so that it plays the first 5 seconds and the last 5 seconds, duplicate the video in the Mixer - by pressing Ctrl on your keyboard and dragging it in the video list panel - so it appears in the list twice.

Then, edit the first copy of the video to show only the first 5 seconds, and edit the second copy of the video to show only the last 5 seconds.

How do I rotate a video?

You actually don't need the Mixer to do this. Use the simple "Rotate" function located just to the right of your video on its play page. You can select either blue button "Rotate left" or "Rotate right" for your video. Then click on "Save" and once it has optimized, your newly oriented video is ready to share!

Can I add music or photos to my video?
You won't be able to add music or photos to your video at this time, but stay tuned because we're always trying to improve our service!

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions about how to edit your videos, leave a comment or contact our support team!

One of the most fun activities you can do with the little ones this Spring is an Egg Hunt. Instead of just taking photos though, make sure to get all the fun on video this year too. Sharing the video with your party guests and other friends and family will make your Egg Hunt something others will never forget!

Check out the following tips on how to make a great Egg Hunt video:

Preparing the Egg Hunt
Whether you're painting chicken eggs or filling plastic eggs with goodies, make sure to get *all* the egg prep on video! Getting ready for an Egg Hunt can be one of the most exciting parts of an Egg Hunt party, so make sure to have the camera rolling while you're preparing. This includes hiding the eggs! Try to have someone film you while you hide the eggs in all kinds of places. And don't forget party decor either!

Ready, set, go!
Make sure to get all the action on video from the start. However you're starting the egg hunt, whether by yelling out "Ready, set, go!" or by blowing a whistle, make sure to get this part on video so that your hunt will have a sequence on video. Then, keep filming! Don't feel shy to follow the kids around with the camera; they'll be so excited, they won't even notice you. Make sure to capture details like the excitement on their faces, as well as how they search high and low for the eggs.

Egg Hunt Aftermath
If you plan on giving out prizes once the hunt is over, make sure to film the winners and their prizes. Feel free to go around at this time and "interview" all the kids; let them show you all the eggs they collected and allow them to say a few words about anything interesting that happened or how they liked the Egg Hunt in general. Catching their excitement and happiness on video will be priceless.

Once you go home, transfer all the videos to your computer and upload them to your Motionbox account. You can then use the Mixer to trim the boring parts and combine all the good clips together to make an awesome Egg Hunt video. Last step: share it with family and friends! This will be an Egg Hunt they'll always remember.
