The sight was fantastic as some of them came real close and I could see the swirling of the water droplets, it's very formation and destruction. The scenery reminds me of the chaotic environment in fantasy games whereby this would be the world of demonic beings.

Next up is a 180 degree twist of fate. I had thought earlier on that this was my day to be able to see 5 waterspouts in a single day. After work, I was caught up in a traffic jam due to a collision at a junction before entering the path to my camp. I totally wasted an hour of time waiting in the bus before the bus went past the collision spot. This was way unlucky. If only I had came out earlier and caught the earlier shuttle bus out of camp.

As for my BMT back in tekong, I had made a couple of really nice friends and I must admit the recourse was a very memorable experience for me in my military life. This is also the period of time when I started drinking liquor. I must say that the experience of being drunk is rather cool but it just screws you up as I had headaches after being drunk and hangovers the next day. However, this is an experience not to be missed as it's 'part of men's life' =P

Life Is Full Of Surprises!!

A Chain of Unfotunate Events...

Damn it, life is freakingly full of surprises...and I just happened to encounter a chain of unpleasant events...

The story goes like this, on Wednesday, 110407, I had just gave myself a pat on the back for planning out my schedule so well. I was to have medical appointment for the whole day on Thursday and Driving test on Friday which I would be taking a day off from camp. In short, I will have a long weekend starting from Thursday to Sunday which I will not be in military camp.

On Thursday morning, my immediate supervisor called me up on my way to my medical appointment at 0900hrs. He told me that my Basic Military Training(BMT) recourse deferment has been rejected. He usually does play pranks on people and I had thought he was just getting me nervous for my driving test on the next day, Friday. I didn't believe him at that point and simply thought nothing of it.

Sh*t then came at around 1100hrs when my head of department called me up regarding this matter...my round objects immediately dropped to the depths of the Earth. It totally wrecked my mood for the earlier part of the day. Furthermore, I had to wait about 3 hours for my medical appointment in the afternoon.

Despite this, I tried to lift my spirit through some lan gaming. It sort of worked, I totally owned 2 matches of Defense of the Ancients(DotA) and proceeded for my physio in the afternoon. Then, incident no. 2 came, it was pouring outside the mall I was gaming and there is a 500m uncovered distance to the hospital...I bought an umbrella and braved through the stormy rain.

Physiotherapy was mood lifting again, I could see and feel the pump I was getting through the exercises. Occasionally glances at the mirror was just gratifying. Went for a fantastic dinner where I cheated after 1 whoel month and had some of my favourite dishes, afterwhich I proceeded with my driving lesson with the rain.

Nothing of significance, just that I had problem of noticing my surroundings due to the dark and rain.

Chain of unfortunate events (Con't)

Woke up way early for my warm-up driving session and then my driving test. Third sh*t occurred, I failed... and had to book for another test date 3 months later. All these seems most unfortunate because I had soemthing in my mind all along, the BMT recourse I'll be going to on Monday, of which I have to return to camp today to draw equipment required for the course...

It was supposed to be a relaxing day for me..bleh. Nonetheless, my newly *acquired* friend Kenneth met me after my test and treated me to lunch, despite my pleas to allow me to treat him instead for being there after I failed. I guess I would need to find a chance where I could sneakily return the nice treat.

I rushed back all the way home, overslept on the bus and had to walk a distance home. 4th sh*t happened, it started to drizzle halfway back home. I ran through the rain and got home before it became heavy.

Got home rather dry. Prepared what I need to return to camp and found that the rain has stopped, how nice huh? The way to the public transport and my house was rather a significant distance with 75% of the journey without shelter. I rushed out of my home in bid to catch the last bus into my camp. When I was about 10 steps to the unsheltered remaining journey to the public transport, the 5th sh*t happened, it just poured cats and dogs again...

Ran through the rain and got drenched. However the fortunate thing was i managed to get onboard the last bus to my camp. Ahh...and my chain of unfortunate events have ended for the day at that moment. I just hope that it doesn't continue through the weekend into my BMT recourse =X

"Problems tend to arise when you least need it to be around to provide challenges in your life"

Changes taking place..

Since my last post...

Much have happened since the last time I updated my blog, in short, I have archieved a higher level of fitness, prepare for my final lap in learner driving and most importantly, partially broke out of a personal barrier that has put me in denial for many years...

Fitness first, I have been rather consistent since January this year to consume my daily 6+ meals evenly distributed. Capped my calorie intake 80% of the time and the type of calorie entering my body. Exercise plan wise, I have shifted from the previously more cardio orientated workout regime(due to physio) to a more muscle building strategy. Details would be consuming more protein and timing and carbs intake to mainly for the first half of the day and my protein intake the second half. I have lost a total of 1.4kg of fat, gained 03kg of muscle mass and dropped my body fat percentage by 1.7%.

For my driving lessons, next week, on the 13th of April, more notoriously known as Friday the 13th, I'll be having my first attempt for my driving license. I had to physically bend 120 sets of tables and chairsto condemn them, in other words, making them unsuitable for use any more. Reason? I would think it would be to justify for the purchase of new tables and chairs for my department's usage...rather underhand but I would say it would be necessary to 're-new' the existing tables and chairs which have rusty support and vandalised surfaces.

Eariler in the day, got lectured by my superior... I wouldn't claim it to be absolutely true like what Prof. Richard Dawkins mentioned...give the benefit of doubt to things which cannot be ascertained by anyone.

From my perspective, I find that many of my friends believe in their religion due to the fact that their parents or peers are in the religion. I have tried questioning them about how they can prove the reliability and the existence of the god they believe in and I have always gotten vague or no answer from them. What they have been giving me were examples of miracles that have happened to the members of their religionous faith and thus they believe it has to be the act of god.

I would like to propose an explaination for their 'sudden' luck/positive change in their life. I believe it has to do with the members of the religionous faith. With a religious faith that consists of so many members, it wouldn't be hard for a 'visitor of the religion' to strike on a solution to an unfavourable situation he/she has through the many members already in the religion. Most religion would have values like helping others whenever possible that they would instill in their members.

Thinking back, it wouldn't be difficult to realise that so called 'miracles' are just solutions obtained through better human relationship and a more positive mindset and view towards the environment or events happening around a person.

It has been proven that usually untapped potential of the human brain is activated once a person has broken through a certain threshold which is based on individuals. Once this is achieved, the human being can do wonders. Some of the 'wonders' I know of would be increased power of the immunisation system, increased recruitment of muscle fibers resulting in massive temporal strength gains. An improved mindset would also result in better mood and thus leads on to solve many health problems that root out from pressure in our now highly competitive environment.

No matter what, this is just my 5 cents worth of opinion and I would say my opinion could serve as a useful reference ;D

The Chinese New Year

It has been a busy week, with the Chinese New Year festive season, there was alot of family gatherings a.k.a house visits and reunion dining throughout the whole 15 days of the Chinese New Year.

The Chinese New Year begins on the 1st of January, according to the Chinese calender and lasts for a whole 15 days, with the 1st day having a family reunion dinner, 7th day being the "Birthday" of all Chinese and the last day,15th day.

I was like most of the other Chinese here in Singapore, having "Yu Sheng", a traditional 'salad' comprising of raw fish and assorted colourful garnishes, peanut crumbs and sweet sauces. Steamboat is another kind of meal we would engage in as the nature of having a Steamboat meal together would require us to gather around a table, symbolising reunion, which one of the emphasis of Chinese New Year.

Although happy with all the once in a year reunion etc. I was rather guilty and plagued by the thought that I have succumbed to the unhealthy way of gorging myself. I would have to do more cardiovascular exercises after the Chinese New Year to make up for what I have gained during the festive season.

My right shoulder have not fully recovered from the shoulder surgery I had in September last year and the physiotherapist is about to discharge me soon. I am rather disappointed by this, I would consider unprofessional decision, as I have not regained my range of motion which I had before my surgery. Yes, it's the range of motion after my shoulder dislocation and before my surgery. I was also able to do 8 pull-ups before surgery and now the physiotherapist has strongly discouraged me from doing any more pull-ups from now on as she says it would be very risky to tear the stitches in placed during the surgery.

The reason why I am disappointed by the unprofessionalism is because the physiotherapist would not want to hold me here longer to help me strengthen my shoulder area to the point whereby I could do pull-ups safely. Putting it in meaner terms, I would say I am almost to the point of regretting a surgery whereby it does not help me to recover to the point where I could do what I want more safely, say bodybuilding and pull-ups. These are the things which I could still do after my shoulder dislocation and before the surgery.

I hope I would be able to question my surgeon on this matter and see what is the best that could be done. It further saddens me that they, the physiotherapist and trainers have told me to take it slowly as my shoulder needs more time for recovery when I had asked them way before on when I could do pull-ups, when now they are telling me a total different story.

Valentine's Day...

This day has been the same for 19 long years....how I wished there would be some variation the very next year! The desire to experience this very day the way it was meant to be lingers on...

Well, I would say this year's Valentine's day is much more interesting compared to the previous years... Today, when I went to physio, I decided to treat the staffs of Changi Sports Medical Centre(CSMC) to some chocolates. I bought a box of Lindtt chocolates and brought it in, then Raj(a sports trainer there) saw me with a box and asked me what that was. I thought him that I bought the chocolates for them to share and I gave him the chocolates, requesting him to share it with his colleges. The staffs there all burst into laughter!! and boy~ was Raj happy!

Mutterings and laughter linger on for a few moments then Raj asked me to come over to him before asking me this question "Do you what day it is today?". I knew he was expecting me to tell him Valentine's day but did not know what was the point. I decided to be feign ignorance and told him "Of Course!! Today's Wednesday! That's why I came for therapy today." He gave a -.-" look and I told him I knew it was Valentine's Day. He said I should pass the chocolates to Pauline(the Senior Physiotherapist there) so that people would not think that we *have something on*. This taught me that I should give chocolates to girls(priority) even if it's just to commemorate the day.

Throughtout the day I played "cheeky" me and kept distrubing Raj and creating more jokes of the day!! Today was really fun and memorable! Kept me joyful for the rest of the day...

Regarding my training, today's training compamised of only stabilty exercises which were a killer for me as I had always been doing strength training exercises whereby energy is mostly expanded to lift the weight and not expanded to maintain control of the weight and my form.

Nearing the end of my workout session, I was all shaky around my shoulders and couldn't complete the full repetitions required for the exercises, requiring me to call it a day...

Details of my training can be viewed in my Training Log here.

Class Reunion

Last night's experience has been fantastic! It was a reunion after a year for some of my Junior College's classmates whom haven't had the time to attend the previous gatherings. Alot of catching ups were made and many things have been happening. I would say that life has only began now, previously were all warm-ups for this start to begin =D.

We had dinner at one of the Japanese restaurants(couldn't remember the name) in Vivo City, Singapore. Food was average, price was way steep...all in all, not value for money. It was just the posh that jacked up the price. We had a few games of pool at Paradise, Singapore, with all the catching up and stuffs and only went off around 2330-0130hours.

Earlier in the day:

I had driving lessons in the morning for 1.5 hours. This lesson, I learned 90 degrees parking. The repeated clutch controlling to ster the car in and out built up lactic acid in my calfs(yea, technical terms, LoL). And thats all for the day =(, not much accomplished I juess...

Immediately after driving, I met some of my Naval Diving Unit(NDU) friends for a swim down at Toh Payoh(Singapore).

View my training log for today: My Training Log

Making changes

It has been quite some time since I last blogged and <del>many</del> <ins>tremendous</ins> changes have taken place. Something I find really rude about some of my fellow Singaporean drivers is that even though they can see that I'am a learner driver, they would purposely cut into my lane dangerously(meaning I would have to hit on my brakes real hard so as to prevent collision), just to move a few inches ahead in a traffic jam.

"Even though I'am a learner driver, I was tempted to blast my horn at them for such inconsideration, however, I just didn't want more trouble"

Driving is seriously cool and I attempted my U-turn yesterday reasonable well without any hitches ^^. Despite being cool and all, driving can also be something dangerous if one is not well aware of his surroundings, the lights, pedestrians, signs, road hazards and other road users. I'am confident that I will be attaining my license on my first attempt on the 13th of April this year =D

There are times when the heavy traffic have overwhelmed me with vehicles cutting in and out and motorcycles at my blind spots. These all have demoralised me to some extent. However, thinking back again, if I keep worrying and became all panicky, it would pose a greater problem as I have already lost my focus. Then on I decided to remained focused and stay calm, reminding myself that there are many drivers out there too, if they are not having trouble, why should I. From that moment on, driving became more pleasant.

Almost every outcome is determined by our mindsets. If we foresee the task to be impossible, we would most probably make weak or no attempt at all in accomplishing the task, after all, it seems pointless. On the other hand, if we have faith in ourselves, no matter how difficult the task at hand is, we would never give up because we know that someday or sometime, we would accomplish it. So for you people out there, please keep this in mind, you have to believe in yourself. If you do not believe in yourself, you are actually planning to fail!

Tip of the day:

"Have faith in yourself!"

Happy New Year!

Back to workouts

Today, I decided to see if I was ready to work out my back muscles using machines in the gym. I started out lighter than the weights I used before my operation, all went well, not much trouble form my shoulder.

This is what I did today:

1. Elliptical Cross Trainer (15 mins, Level 3/20 intensity)

2. Technogym Upperback personal selction machine (30 pounds, 2 x 15 reps)

3. Rower (60 pounds x 10 reps, 50 pounds x 10 reps)

4. Standing row machine (45 pounds x 15 reps, 80 pounds x 8 reps)

5. Cable Lat pulldowns (16 pounds/side, 2 x 10 reps)

All worked pretty well today, hope I wil be able to regain more strenth and stability during my physiotherapy sessions.

I made a video greeting on youtube labeled under, "Happy New Year, My Friends" as a testimonial for all my friends on friendster. I must say this is the first time I have decided to give testimonial greetings to all my friends and I must admit is tedious to go around adding them one-by-one! Although it may be inappropiate, but that's what people do with testimonials nowadays. This is a step towards being more sociable (for me at least) and I'am glad I decided to do it and not stall.

Added a couple of friends from my previous National Service(NS) unit. I must admit I'am a little introvert and do not really fancy crowds, giving me ample time to write a fairly long blog today =X. I hope not.

For the whole day today, it has been raining on and off, ranging from light to heavy rains. If you have ever been caught up in a day like this, outdoors, you would probably have noticed that it gets on your nerves and you face a higher chance of losing your temper(to people whom you are comfortable with of course =X).

Today, I have succumbed to venting my anger on my mum today for making me wait for 20 odd minutes while gust of winds were splattering rain on me.(I know I'am in the wrong now, I have since apologised and was forgiven =D). The point I want to bring across here is that human beings like us, often act on impulse and not logic especially when we are directly involved in the 'action' of the situation. When you sense yourself flaring up, take a step back(or take a deep breath if you want), and think over the whole scenario calmly. Very ofen than not, you would relise that you were kicking up a big fuss over something that was not as serious as it seem to you a moment before.

"We only see far when we are calm"

"Sadly, we as human beings often realise our folly after we have erred"

Examples to illustrate the above points:

Think of a time in school when you have broken some rules or hurt a fellow schoolmate, thinking back now, do you realise that what you have done was silly and the damage done was far more significant than the benefits reaped?

Upon awaiting punishment for a wrongdoing, do you regret your previous actions and question why you had done it previously?

If your answer is yes, I can tell that you are thinking calmly and thus, logically now. This is the ideal state that we need to be when we are deciding on what actions to take. Being slightly more tensed could lead to disastrous outcomes.

"Look back to this currently state of calmness you are experiencing as a guideline to reduce your chance of making an impulsive decision"

Tip of the day:

"Remind yourself to stay calm whenever possible as this would allow you to organise your thoughts and make better decisions"

A Blogging Saturday

BLOG DAY =X

I have added lots of feeds today through www.feedburner.com. I had previously thought that doing all these technical stuff on my blog would require some level of html or other computer language. However, after deciding to take action through searching for how to do them on the web, I found out that all it takes is some REALLY basic html(like a code is within these brackets <>). Don't believe me? Go to feed burner and see, there is a step by step guide to teach you what to do to add those feeds in and they even ave a quick start guide for the more popular blogging sites, including blogger, which gives the exact steps you need to take for your particular blogging tool.

"You wouldn't know if it is possible unless you try!"

A picture of myself is also added today and I will be starting a new blog tomorrow with a friend(focusing on internet marketing techniques) in conjection with this blog here. I will be 'teaching' what I have learnt from WIS 2006. You may think why I am giving away free information, well here is the answer, I want to refresh my memory of what I have learnt and by 'teaching' what I have learnt, this will force me to revisit the things I learnt. As you guys/gals might have noticed, you tend to forget things that you haven't used for some time(that's why there is something called revision =D) and it takes a reason for you to revisit it. Since I understand that I can be quite lazy myself, I decided to start something like another blog on the topic I want to master to 'force' myself to revisit what I have learnt.

"Knowledge is meant to be shared or there wouldn't be the world you know today"

"You have to find ways to 'force' yourself to be consistent in what you do. If you don't help yourself, nobody can help you"

I will be writing some articles over the next few days in bid to increase traffic to my blog. I'am really excited when I tracked a visitor from Seoul visiting my blog! This has further motivated me to continue improving on what I am doing now as there is significant results =). I hope to get more visitors from other parts of the world ^^.

"Do not worry if you do not see immediate results, instead be consistent and keep testing different methods to improve. You will definitely see results if you persist!"

Tip of the day:

"NEVER EVER GIVE UP!"

Monetized my site!!!

Summary of what I have done and will be doing soon:

As you can see from the various monetizing additions I have put up at my sidebar, my blog is ready to accept CASH. Now with these done, I will need to proceed to getting traffic to my blog. I have taken a small step yesterday by 'claiming' my blog at www.technorati.com. Tommorrow, I would research on how to submit my blog to established search engines like Google and Yahoo!. I'am also looking forward to adding video and audio features to my blog, this will probably kick in when I meet up with my friend tomorrow.

Exercise routine compromised:

Due to dry cough and blocked nose, I am forced to temporary stop my training so as to allow my body to recuperate. I am pretty sure this has to do with my lack of sleep over the past few days. A word of caution, aim to obtain at least 8 hours of sleep a day as this would provide your body adequate time for maintenance of the 'chemical processes' undergone when you are awake. In order words, enable your body to have sufficient time to do self-repairs!!

TIP OF THE DAY:

"Remain focused on your goal, do not be a victim of information overload"

Feeling ill...

Ever felt like you are about to fall sick? If you have, this is my current status.. With all the excitement I'am getting from internet marketing, I have been sleeping approximately 5 hours for the past 4 days exploring ways to get traffic to my blog(yes, this one here). I'am so engrossed with the process, that it was the punishments that I would get for going to camp late next day, that got me to stop and turn in for the night.

With a blocked nose and a sore throat, I'am still pretty excited on what I would further accomplish once I meet up with my friend this weekend and get both our minds together to utilize the tools for internet marketing provided by WIS. I am planning to sell the resale products I have and attempt to write some articles regarding personal development and fitness.

For WIS participants reading this, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce something I have found to be very useful-->Google Analytics, this may not be the best tracker around but being my first, I have found it to be sufficient at my stage(I have yet to try more advanced features like comparing marketing campaigns or whatever the 'gurus' use).

Jay Abraham mentioned at WIS that we rapidly forget what we have learned unless we consistently revisit/review them. I find this to be very true. Remember the days in school after a long school holiday? If you hadn't been revising, you would have felt lost and only regain 'form' after refreshing your memory with a few lessons. This is very true in everything we do today. For drivers who have switch from manual transmission vehicles to an auto transmission one for say 6 months, ask them to switch back to drive a manual vehicle. They would certainly feel uncomfortable at start and only regain 'form' after some time.

As the saying goes: "Practice makes perfect"

"If you wish to be proficient in something, be consistent in carrying out the process and increase the consistency, if neccesary, to a degree sufficient to achieve your proficiency goal"

My Fitness Routine

Mixing around with motivated people motivates me too!! I am now jogging 2km every other day and training one body part every single day.

Today, I will be doing the following Abdominal exercises:

1. Crunches(Up and tighten for 2 sec, then take 2 sec to lower) 3 X 20reps

2. I decided to open up wide and go really low on my lunges, although it was more taxing on my muscle, I figured it would be more benficial to acheiving my fitness goals.

Planks were also agonising, my lower back was aching with each set of front plank and the same goes with my obliques for the side planks. My supporting arm(s) and my abs were trembling for almost the whole duration for each plank set.

Nonetheless, I had a good workout during today's physiotherapy session and look forward to a more challenging session the next time round.

If you were thinking about my day in camp today, I would say today was pretty usual, nothing
spectacular. However, I was looking forward to my physiotherapy session in the afternoon since the very moment I got out of bed!! =X

My encounter with Natalia:

Last but not least, I got to talk to Natalia(another patient) today and made friends 'officially'. She had dislodged her knee during a badminton competition. She had apparantly ignored the first dislocation due to the importance of the competition to her and continued on, unfortunately she made the same mistake of using the same style to rech for the shuttlecock and her knee dislodged again. The second occasion was the determining one, it prevented her from continuing with the competition. I was tempted to tell her that the injury should be more important than the competition but then again, I do not know how hard she has trained for the competition. Further more, during the heat of the competition with all the tension, all serious sportsmen and sportswomen would place the competition above anything else. This we can all see from the numerous injuries suffered by sportsmen/sportswomen throughout the years of international games such as the Olympics.

"Through this case, I am able to relate and reinforce my understanding of why people tend to overlook things when they are personally involved in a situation"

"Like the chinese saying goes: 当局者谜，旁观者清"-->This can never be more true

Official duties kick in today

Today, I felt like a trainee who has just been posted to a new department. Many changes were made while I'am away on my medical leave. The layout of the office has been modified(hopefully in a way that makes the work process more convenient), some work processes have been changed, being away for 3 months has allowed me to 'happily' forget what I have been doing and all these made me feel new to the whole working environment.

Attached to my department to cover my job scope are two pes b national serviceman fulltime(nsf) that have been out of course and waiting for posting orders. I am currently learning how to do this, if anyone knows how to do the this technical stuff please feel free to share it with me =).

The World Internet Summit(WIS) review seminar I attended today reminded me to focus and keep things simple while starting out. I decided to lie down to rest while chatting in attempt to compensate for my 5 hours sleep the previous night..and here's where the trouble started. Apparently me and my friend fell asleep(we were lying on different beds FYI) and shits just drop on you when you are susceptible. The next thing I knew, my cellphone was vibrating and I noticed it was 1400hrs( I was supposed to be back around 1330hrs) and the usual stuff came, people were looking for me when I was sound asleep =(. The call got me feeling all shitty and journey from the cabin to the office was never ever longer, I felt that I would have a bad day ahead but concurrently, I remember what I learned from WIS "how successful you are is partially determined by how fast you recover from setbacks". Thus I decided to make this a valuable lesson learnt and never to repeat the same mistake again.

"Do not ponder over the past for it is gone. Instead, plan for the future!"

I thought that remaining focused will make my day good...then it came...it was raining cats and dogs at the time I was leaving camp for home and I had to walk a considerable distance to have my pass changed. That was dampening..my shoes was soaked and dirtied and it was only the second time i wore it!!! Ahh well bad day, tough luck.

Despite the challenges, I got myself to run(I think it was a 2km route) when I got home. I'am serious about losing serious fats now!! I need to remain focused and prioritise what I really want in life.

Finally I have the time to try out my new laptop today. I am installing several programs I need for building my website and I think I will be able to start building my site tommorrow after my physiotherapy session at Changi Sports Medical Centre(CSMC).

I have made lots of changes to my personality, opening myself out to new ideas, concepts that I had once thought that only gifted or selected people are able to implement and benfit from. BUT, although I have started to socialize more, I will still occasionally feel uncomfortable approaching new people to get to know them. I'am trying to overcome this problem but somehow or rather, a barrier would appear. A thought that I might receive negative response or get ignored would just appear when I want to approach a new person..then I would ponder over it and then a common aftermath would occur. The person would either be engaged in a conversation when I have sorted out my thoughts or the person would be in a situation that I feel would interupt him/her if I go over and start talking.

"I would appreciate it if anyone could share any solutions or suggestions to the problem I am facing, thank you =D"

Back from my ancestral land!!

China, sets my imagination sky-rocketing in every possible direction, be it the ancient chinese lifestyle or the economic growth possibilities...IT JUST MAKES ME FANTASIZE!! I have visualized of what would it be like if I have been in China to witness the change from using brushes and chinese calligraphy to using ball-point pens and alphabets, this single factor is more than enough to keep me occupied in my own world.

"As China is still a third world country, I can literally feel the tremendous amount of change that has been experienced by people during the industral revolution or whatever revolutions there are"

"This also made me 'see' how fast Singapore has advanced and imagine how much China would advance in the next couple of years"

The places I have visited are Guang Zhou, Shen Zhen and Macau. It was a tour trip and pretty rush so I didn't have the chance to really get the chance to see and experience the lifestyle and culture for Shen Zhen and Macau. If anyone if interested in visiting these places, make sure you are able to converse in cantonese comfortably or at least mandarin. I had previously assumed the 'locals' in this areas to be speaking mandarin for their first langauge but to my surprise, most of them speak cantonese.

"The ratio of males to females is approximately 1:4, exchange rate of SGD to RMB is 1:5"

Other than western goods, any other products sold in China are extremely cheap. But there's the catch, you must be firm and not be shy to insist on a 50++% discount, the salespeople in China are 'elitely' despicable. They wouldn't even show the slightest of emotions after slaughtering you like some rich fat pig.

Need examples? Here's one which I simply can't forget:
My mum and I approached a dealer selling SD cards, we got and offer of 185RMB for a 4GB SD card. We walked around to bargain and compare prices. We went back to the same stall, the owner that offered us 185RMB was busy, her assistant of 14-16 of age took her place and for the same item, (Guess what?) she offered a hefty 460RMB!!! When we told her that the other owner which was 20+ of age offered as 185RMB, she told us it was impossible and told us to buy from her if she is able to give that offer. We got the item for 185RMB as offered before and the kid didn't even show any sign of embarrassment for being so dishonest and she was just 13-15 years old trying to con a 19(me) and 47(my mum) of age customer...

"Notice I mentioned salespeople and not target the whole to the China population for the above remark as only personal shops/stalls that they own throw fraudulant prices and not shopping malls or chain stores which have fixed prices"

What's the best deal in China? It would definitely be their food!! It's cheap and delicious, except for the fact that you have to instruct them to put less salt, they have a love for salty food. Piracy is weakly controlled by local authorities, imitations can be found in almost every street in the places I have visited.

Vice situation in China? Our tour guide explained to us the reasons for young china girls to go into the vice sector. The reason? poverty. A regular job in the factory production line or any other job fetches an anverage of 1,000RMB/month and the safety of workers in the factory is terrible..there are always new cases of workers losing their body parts to machinery or suffering from intoxication from poisonous and toxic materials used in the manufacture of products. Thus many china girls figured that since they are young and pretty, why not enter the vice industry which offers better returns and less amputation or intoxication risks.

Shen Zhen is a 'mixed' state as the so called locals there are people from other states of China that have migrated there in search of better job prospects. You might have already guessed, vice is very common here too. Almost every 3 star or less hotel have 'massage girls' at the entrance of the hotels touting. The tourist attraction I have visited and recommend is the 'Window to the World' performance which combines state of the art effects and amazing acrobatics cum chinese martial arts. The ladies performing for this performance have been hand-picked and are all at least 1.8 metres tall and pretty. This is something you wouldn't want to miss while visiting Shen Zhen.

Macau, nothing much I have seen here except for the many casinos and their famous portuguese egg tarts. For casinos, I would prefer those in Las Vegas ;)

Guang Zhou, a shopping heaven for me. I got my chinese calligraphy set(for display purposes =X), fanciful fountain pens with chinese poems on the body of the pen and several shoes. Food was also delicious and cheap here, a chee cheong fan with 9-12 fresh prawns only cost S$1.60 and a shi ban fish of 1.5jin only cost S$26, which can easily cost S$70-90 at Singapore restaurants. Cabs are also cheap, a 10+mins journey would just cost S$3-4.

I bought a new laptop today at Funan the IT Mall and I'am so eager to try it now =D. I am also starting my training today and aim to run 3km for at least 3 days in a week. I am trying to get back into bodybuilding training which I left off just before my operation. I would probably continue with my physiotherapy exercises until my right arm has comparable strength before I pick up from where I have left off. I just hope I haven't lost too much muscle mass :)

27 hours and 13 minutes left!!

Just came back from my official duties..man it was a slack day. I basically did some touch-up on almost completed jobs and got back a little feel of what I had been doing 3 months ago, this was a fantasic experience which I'll try to desribe with words.

"It was like returning to the good old school days, reminiscing a routine that had once been at the tip of my fingers...it's amazing, I 'am sure you could experience something similar if you have had a 3 month school holiday!!"

I got to know a new friend whom has been covering my official duties a month after my operation. Through our conversation, we happen to talk about how he was like before enlistment till now. I couldn't believe my hears and eyes, he was weighing an awesome 83kg before enlistment through BMT, he hadn't lost much, if not any weight. What's more, he lost 10kg while training on his own for 3 months and he transformed from a zero-fighter* to a slim guy who can do 6 repetitions of pull-ups now(though under-hand, is still a feat).

After that conversation, it left me thinking, I have not been training since my operations and since he has accomplished a feat in such a short time, I can do it too. This reminded me of what I had learned during the World Internet Seminar(WIS), be consistent and focus on your goal. I have decided to start running every other day starting from tomorrow onwards and prove to myself the truth in the teachings of like-minded people(the gurus at WIS). This will not only allow me to achieve my goal, but also strengthen my believe that everyone can accomplished what others have done before or even more if they are desperate enough.

Wondering why I'am not starting my running today? It was a 20 minutes rower exercise. Met my friend, Afandi, whom I got to know there and we chatted together while doing our exercises for the day. Afandi has a similar injury to mine but was on the left arm. Well just for some background information, both of us dislocated our shoulder some time ago and had ungergone a shoulder surgery 2 months ago. The technical term for our surgery? An Arthoscopic bankart repair.

Afandi went off as he was here since 2pm and it was just me doing shoulder strengthening exercises now. This year, the Australian couple who were once in the consulting industry has made close to US$500,000.

My Review On The World Internet Summit
Day 1:
The first day of this seminar was a newbies's day, only some of the speakers were around, in particular Tom Hua, Brett Mcfall, Jo Han Mok and Ewen Chia.

The seminar blasted off with Jay Abraham giving a key note which primarily adviced us to stay focused on what we have chosen after the seminar.

Next, was Brett's presentation to introduce us to some of the more common jargons and terms used on the internet. This was a pretty slow and boring section as what he covered can be found in the Internet Glossary which is in Tom Hua's 30 day roadmap ebook...well I do not think many people in the seminar has read it though considering the fact that most of the audience was in the regular 9-5 working class, thus I do not blame him.

Then came Tom Hua's presentation where he shown us how to create a basic web site, covering how to get a domain name, host our website, link our pages together and most importantly how to create a buy link for clients to buy from us.

The day ended with the "World Internet Challenge" where Jo Han and Ewen show us the steps they used to market a newly launched product.

Day 2:
The day rocketed off with a update of the challenge status. The results totally blew me off when I saw it!! Yesterday, they logged on live to their clickbank account which showed a mere US$200+ sales made the previous 15 days of the month. Just 8 hours since they launched their product, their account showed a FRIGGING US$23,000 worth on sales made..holy duck, it was an insane amount of sales made over 8 hours. What's the most interesting part is that their products was sold at US$19.97 only and with an upsell product of US$67.

This proved to us the power of creating loyal leads through credibility.

Then came the parade of the speakers where each and every speaker of the whole event came up in turn to give us a brief overview of what they would be covering during their slots.

The first speaker of the day was Rick Raddatz, he told us the importance of video and audio in internet marketing and ending it with a sales pitch to sell the video and audio programmes his company provided. I must admit it was quite a steal deal but at a price of S$2k.. I wasn't prepared to give that amount of money just for a 2 year use of his products.

"Although online support would be provided by his company, I didn't want to spend that kind of money to buy his products as I could go for other methods to generate income. I wouldn't mind paying the public price after my success in internet marketing"

Next up was Andrew and Daryl Grant, their presentation was on how to start our own online business. They mentioned how to identify a niche market, test the market for profitability, develop the product and improve on it to increase sales. They taught a couple of succes principles that we have to stick to such as focusing on one thing and not many. The service they had wanted to sell was a mentoring/coaching program with a basic plan at S$700+ and a S$2,000 plan.

"Their one-on-one coaching was just a mere 4 hours, I personally didn't think that would be much help considering that would be too short for a newbie like to get a internet business up and running"

Third on the list for the day was Jo Han Mok. He made it a point to prove to us that copywriting was an important skill that we must be equiped with to get people to buy. He added a few pointers with we should focus on while writing a sales letter. He also taught us the various strategies of internet business and offered his personal coaching twice a month and the tools he used to automate his site and build his business...it cost S$8,888.

"As much as I would have love to sign up, I can say I lacked the entrepreneur spirit to opt for a loan to obtain his package...I am now pinning my hopes on my buring desire to keep me on track on the road to success"

Ahh..I almost forgot!!

He also showed us some magic tricks where he got 2 scarfs tied up at one end and shoved it into his pretty female assistant's chest through the front cleaving collar. He held a yellow cube and a box with 2 doors in the front and top and the back of the box wasn't covered. He claimed he would get the yellow cube to appeared tied by the 2 scarfs he left with his assistant.

He first got the yellow cube into the box then he tilted it vertically and opened the top door of it showing through to the back the nothing was there. All of us heard a 'tick' which we figured was made when the yellow cube got to the bottom of the box. Then his next move was to tilt it so that the top became the bottom. Again another 'tick' sound was heard and I was like -.-, and thought to myself "so it's just another B.S lame joke". As before, he now opened the top door of the box and it showed through to the back proving nothing was on the top.

I guess you guys reading this would be thinkning like me at that moment that what he did was treat us as gullible folks and gave a weak attempt to con us. Then it came the moment where he opened all doors of the box, top and side, there wasn't a trace of the yellow cube!! Here comes the exciting part...he went up to his assistant and pulled the scarfs out through the 2 untied ends that were exposed...guess what? Nope, the yellow cude did not appear tied between the 2 scarfs...this is what happened... OMG you wouldn't believe this if you weren't there!!! He jerked out the scarfs and tied between the knots of one end of each scarf was HIS ASSISTANT'S BRA!!

"I told a friend, Jason, whom I got to know at the seminar that if I were to sign up for his package, the strongest reason would be to learn this particular magic trick =X"

Up next was Matt Bacak(pronounced Ber-sack). He gave us tips on choosing a hosting service, in particular, he told us to look out for hosting that provides us with a unique I.P address, unix or linux hositng and must have cpanel. He also gave us insights on how to build a list, generate leads and what type of autoresponders to use. I shall not mention about the packages they offer anymore unless it's rather different than the rest of the speakers. The majority of speakers provide tools, and products which have every ready for us to begin selling them and coaching sessions of different durations.

The last speaker of the day was Fabian Lim. Not that I have anything with him, but I think he was the speaker that gave the least quality information. The most useful information I probably got was to focus on one particular traffic generating method.

Day 3:

An update of the "World Internet Challenge" was given..they made another S$16k in 24hours. Although the results weren't as spectacular as before, it was still a success to be reckoned with!!

First speaker for the day was Micheal Cheney. He shared with us that submitting articles would be a powerful method to get traffic to our squeeze pages, how to get people to opt-in to our list and another method of checking if a niche market is profitable.

The next speaker was the seminar's very own co-founder, Brett Mcfall!! He told us what to use for headlines in our sales letters and how to earn $500 a day, $1,000 a day and $5,000 a week. The techniques he taught us to generate nice incomes in a day and a week were a eye-opener, it totally left me dumb-founded.

Then came our very own Singaporean, Ewen Chia. He parted us with a specific way of how to get ourselves branded on the web, thus creating traffic for our sites. He told us to build a solid foundation for our business by being credible and to sell what people want instead of sell what you want people to buy. This has been bought up by many speakers and I think it is one of the most helpful information is this seminar as this is often overlooked by people including me!!

Next came David Cavannagh. He reinforced our mindset by giving us insights to our life. Some of his teachings are, "Waiting is the favourtire past-time of failures" and "Think desperate to make money". He also gave us useful websites like most of the other speakers where we could get some tools or service to aid in our internet marketing campaign.

The last speaker of the day was none other than Stephen Pierce. He provided us with a list of products that we could sell over the internet and how we could create different version of a single product to be able to increase the value of our products. He also adviced us to research on the customer profile for our targeted niche market.

Day 4 (The last day):

The final update of the challenge was given to us, they made a total of US$60k in just these few short days. My vision of following their steps to success reinforced with every update of the challenge and speaker's presentations.

First up that day was Willie Crawford. He shared with us the pyscholgy of buyers and adviced us on what to take note of when designing our website or sale page. He reminded us of a strategy to up-sell that we see in our everday life but overlooked it frequently. That is the power of creating series in our products->For example, label products in volumes or package them as collector's edition. He also told us to learn the basics of copywriting and website creation so we would not be in a unfavourable position if we need to conduct emergency changes to our websites.

Next was Tom Hua up on stage. He shared with us his area of expertise in internet marketing..creating viral products that spreads like crazy throughtout the internet. He told us how to integrate our products with a viral system that gets customers to view sale pages of other products that we are selling.

The speaker up next was John Childers. His presentation focused on proving to us why being a speaker was the best in every industry.

These are his reasons:

1). Anyone can be a speaker

- An authority type speaker where you an authority in your field.

- A reporter where you teach what you have learned.

- A student where you give an account on how you personally succeed from what you have learned.

2). You sell one to many when you are a speaker instead of one to one.

Some of his tips to be a good speaker is to be yourself, have a high level of integrity and be able to relate to the audience.

Jay abraham gave a closing speech which reinforced our what we have learned and adviced us to revisit what we have learned over the 4 whole day seminar and not revert back to our lifestyle when we get back home. He adviced us to start simple and not immediately think of getting to where they are now fast-> In other words more haste less speed. To succeed, he said we have to be consistent, know in depth of our market and the general stuff of everything else.

He proved that we need to be flexible and creative to be able to survive as an entrepreneur during his Q&A session. The possible solutions he brought up are just out of the box, simply brilliant.

"No doubt Jay is one of the most brilliant minds in the marketing and consulting industries, alot of what he preaches are really common sense but things that we overlook in our pursuit for our dreams."

This is the end of my review for the World Internet Summit, feel free to comment on it but please no B.S.
