BMW M4 New concept coupe

BMW has previewed its new M4 coupe with a concept car. The BMW Concept M4 Coupe gives a glance of the production version that will launch at the Detroit motor show in January 2014. BMW will no longer continue the production of the M3 Coupe. The new 4-series name will be used instead of the 3-series M3. So M3 model names changes to the M4 name. A new twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre engine wil be used, producing an estimated 450bhp of power. That is 414bhp more produced by the outgoing normally aspirated 4.0-litre V8 engines. 0-100kph timeof 4.5sec and a top speed limit to 250kph.

Maruti celebrated the production of 10 lakh K-Series engines running on road. The K-Series engine will be used are the 1.2 Liter unit with dual VVT (variable valve timing) is a technology that will be soon used by petrol engines worldwide to improve both performance as well as fuel efficiency. Dual VVT technology making it to the 1.2 Liter engine of the new Swift Petrol, that is all set to be launched in August this year. The engine uses variable valve technology for both the intake as well as the exhaust valves, thus pushing the maximum power output by 10 Bhp, to 90 Bhp, even as fuel economy improves.

The swift 1.2 Liter, 90 Bhp engine would be good for a breathtaking 20 KMPL fuel average. If the new Swift manages an ARAI certified fuel economy figure of 20 KMPL, that would make the car the most fuel efficient B segment hatchback in the country, bettering the 18 KMPL+ figure that Toyota claims for the Etios Liva. the new Swifts will feature plastic fuel tanks that are 25-35% lighter than the conventional metal fuel tanks. This also is set to aid fuel economy as overall weight of the car decreases with a lighter fuel tank. Maruti estimates the fuel economy gain to be a whopping 15% due to the new fuel tanks alone.

The 1.3 Multijet diesel engine gives 23.8 KMPL mileage figure which is outstanding and mind blowing. Also, there are rumours the Swift Petrol getting a 4 speed automatic transmission, which will compete with other automatic cars in the segment is the Hyundai i20.

Mercedes-Benz is set to extend its line-up of dedicated SUVs with a new BMW X6-rivalling model called the GLS. Scheduled for launch in 2014, the new four-seat SUV has been conceived around the same new unibody platform that underpins the third-generation M-class.

Will be fitted with turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 and 4.6-litre V8 petrol, plus a 3.0-litre V6 diesel motors.

FIA unveils the 2012 calendar

The FIA released the 2012 Formula 1 calendar on Friday confirming the longest ever season in the sport's history.
The schedule marks the return of the United States Grand Prix for the first time since 2007 in June and is the only addition to the year. It is clubbed with the only other race in North America, the Canadian Grand Prix.
The season will start with in Bahrain and will move to Melbourne in the following week, as one of the six back-to-back events of the year.
The Korean GP, its second installation, has been moved towards the first half of the season.
The Turkish Grand Prix is subject to confirmation and the Indian GP is scheduled for Oct. 28.

Indian F1 circuit logo unveiled and ticket details

Buddh Indian Grand Prix Circuit Logo

The official logo of the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) which will be hosting the inaugural Indian GP coming October has been unveiled. The circuit, named after its location in Gautam Budh Nagar in Greater Noida, is nearing completion at rapid rate and looks all set to be in shape for its designated FIA homologation date of June 30th. The stylised B logo representing ‘Bharat’ (India) proudly wears the colours of the Indian tricolour, simultaneously resembling the shape of a heart. The 5.14-km Herman Tilke-designed layout looks promising as the BIC will be the first Formula One circuit to conform to the latest set of FIA guidelines to promote closer racing by providing ample opportunities for overtaking.

Prices will range from INR 2,500 for the grassy lawns to INR 5,000 to other regular stands around the circuit. To watch the race from main grandstand however, you will need to shell out a pricey INR 25 thousand for a weekend worth of F1 action.

Also, the F1 circuit has a total capacity of 1,25,000 seats spread across the circuit with the grand stand alone big enough for 25,000 motorsport fans. All said, we’re still in the dark as to when exactly bookings for the tickets will open on BookMyShow.

India will host its first ever Formula 1 event in the month of October (28th to 30th) with Sunday’s race scheduled tentatively at 1500 GMT local time.

2011 Indian Formula Grand Prix Circuit

There is some buzz about the possible cost of the Indian Formula1 Grand Prix tickets from none other than Autocar India Editor, Mr Hormazd Sorabjee, who tweeted saying that the cost of the Indian Grand Prix Tickets, could range from INR 5,000 at the lowest to INR 30,000 for the Grand Stand Tickets. The F1 race will be held at the yet to be unveiled Buddha F1 Circuit, off Delhi.

Now, while these prices still are tentative ones, they don’t seem to be good value, especially considering the fact that Grand Stand tickets cost INR 30,000 which is a lot of money, especially for Motorsport event in a country like India, which is yet to warm up to motorsports in a big way, as say cricket.

Also the INR 5,000 cost for normal tickets also appears quite pricey which will make it out of reach of most young people, who cannot afford that kind of money except the richer, well heeled youngsters. What could tilt the scales slightly towards the positive is if the money can buy entry for all three days of the 2011 Indian Formula1 Grand Prix.

Even so, hotel room prices in and around Delhi, which could get exorbitant at the time of the Grand Prix will make the spectacle all the more expensive. Comparing those prices to the 2011 Singapore F1 Grand Prix, the price of the Indian Grand Stand tickets seem to be higher by 20%. Coming to the case of the cheapest priced tickets which at INR 5,000 is cheaper than that of the Walkabout Tickets of the Singapore Grand Prix which costs SGD 178 or INR 6,300.

Swedish supercar the Koenigsegg Agera is now officially on sale in India. The Veyron category hypercar, the Swedish Supercar into India is brought by the promoters of the Indigo Airlines, InterGlobe General Aviation, brought and will retail at a whopping Rs. 12.5 crores.
The Agera is a worthy successor Koenigsegg’s previous supercar the CCX. It is powered by a 910bhp 4.7-litre V8 engine which can propel it from 0-100kph in just 3 seconds. The Agera promises Veyron like exclusivity and performance at a significantly lesser price. the Agera encloses a 5 liter twin-turbo engine that produces 910 Bhp of power and 1000 Nm of torque. It can hit a top speed of just under 400kph. Italian superbike maker Aprilia has begun accepting bookings for the RSV4 Factory according to an advertisement in a leading daily. The Aprilia RSV4 Factory will be sold by Pune based Piaggio and has been priced at Rs. 20 lakh according to sources. Deliveries are expected to comment by the end of April. The RSV4 is powered by a 1,000cc four-cylinder engine which produces 180bhp.

Volkwagen has launched the new 2011 Passat in India at a starting price of Rs. 20.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). At the moment Volkswagen has only launched the diesel Passat with a 2.0 TDI engine which produces 170bhp (same engine as of Audi A4 and Q5 use). A 1.8 TSI petrol engine Passat is expected to be launched in some time.

The entry level Passat is priced at Rs. 20.80 while the Comfortline costs Rs. 23.80 lakh and the top-end Highline Rs. 25.65 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). With the new Passat VW has also introduced BlueMotion technologies for the first time. The car features an auto start-stop system which automatically switches off the engine when stationary and restarts when accelerator is pressed. The new Passat also features Brake Energy Recuperation which recovers and recycles energy lost during braking, thus conserving fuel and reducing emissions. The car also gets low resistance tyres, low friction mechanicals, lower idling speeds and brake energy regeneration to conserve fuel as well as cut down on emissions.

Robert Kubica crash update: Doctors say, He will walk on his feet in next 3 weeks

After the horrific crash at a rally event in Italy which left a question mark on, if Robert Kubica will ever be able to race again, the Polish Formula 1 driver has been recovering as his medical condition continues to improve. Kubica is currently under observation at Santa Corona hospital. Medical staff at the hospital have revealed that Kubica will be able to walk on his own feet in 3 weeks time.

However, this doesn’t mean that the F1 ace will be able to jump behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car. He is still recuperating from multiple fractures which will take time to heal.

Last week or so, Kubica underwent a surgery for his elbow which was the fourth since he was admitted at the hospital. Doctors are still unsure as to when Kubica could return to racing and that it would be impossible to figure out a timeline for the driver’s return to action, according to Lotus Renault’s team doctor, Riccardo Ceccarelli.

luxury car manufacturer Bentley Motors will launch its new Continental GT model in India in April, Indian Express is reporting. The Continental GT will set you back by 2+ crore rupees. The Continental GT is a four seater all-wheel drive car that has a 6 litre petrol engine lurking beneath the bonnet. The revised GT produces 575PS and 700Nm of torque. A new six-speed Quickshift transmission helps it on its way and 100kph comes up in just 4.6 seconds. The car will accelerate till 197mph (318km/h).

NEW HONDA ACCORD

Honda has launched a upgraded version of its Accord saloon. The new Accord has more style, more comfort and more sophistication than ever before. A bold and aggressive look and striking interiors will make it the most commanding premium sedan on Indian roads.

The new Accord now features new exterior upgrades such as new front bumper grill with chrome accents, additional chrome garnish at the rear, the new bumper gives the large sedan a slightly sporty look. The V6 version gets new alloy wheel design as well.

Maruti Suzuki Launches SX4 Diesel

MARUTI SUZUKI SX4 DIESEL

Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the SX4 Diesel with the 1.3-liter diesel engine. The SX4 Diesel uses Fiat-sourced 90bhp, 1.3 Multi-jet diesel unit. The Super Turbo DDiS engine is mounted on the SX4, delivers 90PS of peak power at 4000rpm. It has been offered in three variants VDi; ZDi and ZDi (with leather upholstery). It has a claimed fuel economy of 21.5 kmpl (certified as per CMVR rules). SX4 Diesel is high on power and performance while being low on emissions. The suspension and brakes of the SX4 Diesel Super Turbo have been suitably modified to account for the heavier engine and the changed weight distribution of the car.

Prices of the SX4 Diesel are Rs 7.74 Lakh for VDi and Rs 8.62 Lakh for top of the line ZDi variant (ex-showroom delhi). The SX4 diesel competes with the Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and Fiat Linea in the diesel mid-size sedan category.
