Wednesday (Nov. 11) is Veterans Day, an American holiday honoring military veterans.  Originally called Armistice Day, it marks the signing of the armistice with Germany (on the 11th day of the 11th month in the 11th hour in 1918) that ended World War I. Schools, federal and state government buildings and courts, the post office and financial markets are all closed.  The Library and Village Hall are open.  Fly your flag and let a veteran know you appreciate his/her efforts.

Mount Prospect's Veterans Day Memorial will be held at 10:30 a.m. and will start at the Lions Park Recreation Center (411 S. Maple).  Following a march to the Band Shell, a brief ceremony will be held.  All are invited to honor and support our veterans.

A "Night of Giving and Receiving" will be held at Elements (106 S. Emerson) on Friday (Nov. 6) from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Mini-massages, fashions, eyebrow threading, food and fun will be part of the evening.  Proceeds will benefit WINGS.  For more info, and to RSVP, call 847/222-7870.
