The MMS community gathered today to plant a beautiful magnolia tree in memory of our cherished friend, the late Mike Druley. Mike and Sharon Druley started coming to visit the MMS campus back in 2006, often volunteering their time and energy in a number of ways. Sharon Druley traveled from Frankfort, Indiana, to attend the ceremony celebrating her late husband, who passed away in December.

Staff members Todd Hardin and Ernie Hertzog led the ceremony, and stories from the past were shared by MMS students, alumni and staff alike. Ernie Hertzog recalled often seeing Druley completely covered either in paint or grass. “He always finished the job, no matter what it was,” Hertzog said.

MMS staff paid for the tree. Another close MMS friend, landscaper Mike Ziegler, from the Cincinnati area, brought the tree down from Ohio and oversaw its planting.

The Druley’s service, humility, and commitment to Mountain Mission is a testimony to the love of Christ that will live on for many years. This memorial magnolia tree will help us long remember the blessings that Mike Druley brought our way.
