Art deco is an artistic and design style that began in 1920s. Art deco represents elegance, glamour and consists of decorative linear symmetry, geometric motif, bold colors, and sharply defined outlines. The post WWI art movement was a time of independence in this country…sex, alcohol, and all that jazz. People wanted to live life to the fullest. Flash forward to 2012…post 9/11, post Iraq war, recession and people still looking to just have a good time. Fashion is moving towards romanticism and society’s fortunes are moving in the same direction that it did in the 20s. Why wouldn’t we expect art deco to make a strong come back?

On the runway…greats like Ralph Lauren, Oscar De La Renta, Marc Jacob, Rachel Roy, and Rachel Zoe all include art deco details in their spring and pre-fall 2012 collections.

Gucci paid the biggest tribute with their entire line consisting of art deco design and a classic 20s silhouette. We peeped Salma Hayek at the Golden Globes and Zoe Saldana at LACMA both in Gucci pieces.

Nicole Richie’s accessories line House of Harlow 1960 (1960s being another popular art deco time period) is full of art deco inspired pieces. That starrburst bangle…bang.

Other dope art deco pieces…Ca & Lou has a single earring that I love, Kimchi with the jeweled clutch, JCrew bangle set, Alkmie with the art deco/tribal wings, and Forever 21 cuff. I think pearls are so beautiful and lady like. Majorica paired the elegance of pearls with art deco glam to create a gorgeous ring.

We spotted Rihanna performing in this fresh motto with art deco inspired sleeves and Chanel Iman stuntin in a Naeem Kann dress. Also, American Apparel has pastel colored tights that are amazing.

Jailed basketball star Jayson Williams has transformed himself into a churchgoing mentor to other prisoners at Rikers Island — earning him the nickname “The Moses of Rikers.”

Christopher Hughes, who was incarcerated at Rikers for 100 days with the former New Jersey Net, tells us the baller is beloved by all behind bars with him, from crackheads to gangbangers.

“People treat him like a star,” said Hughes, who was released from Rikers last week after serving time for reckless assault. “Every single person shakes his hand. He is like Moses, the Moses of Rikers.”

He described how Williams, 43, attends church and leads Bible-study classes every day.

“Jayson would sign people’s Bibles,” Hughes told us. “I would ask him why, and he’d say, ‘Fake it till you make it.’ I thought he was saying, ‘If I can get them in the door through this signature, then at least I got them in the room to see Christ.’ ”

Williams worked as a suicide-prevention assistant for a week on the midnight shift, to help inmates who were contemplating killing themselves, Hughes told us.

Jayson, also a former Philadelphia 76er, who receives “tons” of mail and spends four hours a day writing back, is also penning a second book, “Humbled,” which includes the bombshell that he was sexually abused as a child.

“It’s raw,” said Hughes, who read excerpts while in prison.

Williams works out daily, but Hughes said he reluctantly plays basketball to cheer up inmates: “People would scream out the windows, ‘Jay, dunk it, man! Dunk it!’ He’d have to dunk once a day!”

Williams’ manager, Akhtar Farzaie, confirmed Hughes’ account.

Williams is completing a one-year sentence for DWI, after serving an 18-month term in a New Jersey prison for aggravated assault. He accidentally shot and killed a limo driver in 2002 at his New Jersey mansion.

Recently talking to the owner of this site, it was mentioned that my infatuation with bullet, grenade, or any type of weapon jewelry might be a little dangerous. We may not all be about “that life”, but wearing one of these pieces will def earn you some type of respect. Who is really going to bring funk your way if you're rocking a Ruger Blackhawk trigger on your finger (they don’t want it). Although these pieces may have a violent association, what they truly represent is way deeper.

Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials into new products of better quality. No one has freaked this method more creatively than Ken + Dana Designs with their B-Side gun series. They have taken triggers and firing pins from AR-15, Colt 1911, and Ruger Blackhawks and have made some pretty amazing rings and necklaces. Transforming guns into jewelry is their attempt to promote peace. 10% of the proceeds for the jewelry go towards gun violence prevention charities.

Designer Adi Zaffran has also taken the upcycling technique to the next level with his bullet ring collection. Zaffran went to gun ranges and collected spent bullets and made jewelry out of them. By doing so, Zaffran has transformed all the anger and violence that the bullet represents into beautiful wearable art.

Elegant Ammunition has the hardest 2 finger ring ever; made out of AK shells. Also, check out these stud earrings made from Remington 40-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol bullet casing shells. You can tell by the notch that these bullets come from an already fired round. Need in my life…so fresh.

Need more ammo, our friends at Jason’s of Beverly Hills came super hard with the 9mm Luger yellow gold and diamond bullet ring. But if you’re really trying to send a message, their black diamond grenade will def be heard…boom!

Jennifer Fisher has a brass AK bullet cuff and ring that goes super hard. Need a stash spot for the ammo, Giuseppe Zanotti x Coletter Swarvski have teamed up to create a bullet ballet flat.

Pnut jewelry may not be in the upcycling game…but they still have some dope pieces. That joint with the silencer is def my favorite. Also, feeling the switchblade and brass knuckle pieces. Something about taking these powerful instruments and turning them into delicate dainty charms that just does it for me.

Speaking of brass knuckles…feel like all beef will be squashed permanently if you rocking Vane’s “Noting Promised” brass knuckle rings. Also, Noir has a brass knuckle ring available on the low at Urban Outfitters.

A former publicist for Amber Rose plans to spills the beans on why Kanye West really broke up with her in an upcoming documentary called ‘The Michael Jordan of Models: This Janero.’
