As for the difference.. this is only for choosing a template set to start with. You can delete all these templates if you want and write your own. Create a website with each set and tinker around with the differences.

You are not stuck with a template set once you choose it. If you want two replace your existing templates with a set from off the shelf, go to Design > Templates and select the action to "Refresh Templates" and follow the steps to switch to a different template set.

The most important fix for me is the one with the date picker, as that affected not only the publish date, but any date field (including say a "birthdate" field from the registration page).

Zemanta is also an excellent tool which I'm sure many bloggers would appreciate!
