The Great Master Lea was in a position in which the upper body is upright and the legs are supported, also known as sitting. Early morning an acolyte Enterprise Architect had come before him to ask a question. This is what the acolyte asked: “Oh great master Lea, What is the epiphany of enterprise architects?” The great master Lea looked at the stones at his feet and then turned his head towards the sky and said: “To abstain control!”

The Great Master Lea who by now had been on vacation for 4 days,  was sitting on the beach basking in the sun. Earlier this morning a vision of eight years past had come before him to ask a question. This is what it asked: “Oh great master Lea, what is the foundation of Enterprise Architecture?”The great master Lea gazed at the vision then turned his head towards the sky and whispered to himself: “Any architecture is the embodiment of communication.”

The Great Master Lea was standing on his mountain top pondering the earlier years of his great grandfathers wanderings.  He remembered especially one story about three men and a task. As Master Lea focused all his brain power on this story a rather odd looking CEO led by a savvy CIO appeared from out of nowhere. The CIO with some kind of fire in his eyes asked a question. This is what he asked: “Oh great master Lea, we have been doing Enterprise Architecture for x years now and no good has come out of it. What should we do?” The great master Lea looked at the CIO and then at the CEO then turned his head towards the sky and said: “You should stop Enterprising your Architects and start Architecting your Enterprise”

 The Great Master Lea was sitting on his mountain top basking in the sun. Early moring a group of business people and Enterprise Architects had come before him to ask a question. This is what they asked: “Oh great master Lea, What is EA worth?” The great master Lea looked at the group of business people and Enterprise Architects then turned his head towards the sky and said: “Nothing! Everything!”

The Great Master Lea was sitting on his mountain top basking in the sun. Late this morning, verging on the brink of  lunch a group of business people and Enterprise Architects had come before him to ask a question. This is what they asked: “Oh great master Lea, why would it matter to us if we work in different ways?” The great master Lea looked at the group of business people and Enterprise Architects then turned his head towards the sky and said: “If you do not act as one then it is always a question of integration.”

This is what the strategist said: “Only by first knowing where you stand can you judge how far you have to go”. The great master Lea looked at the strategist then turned his head towards the sky and said: “There are two ways I can consider your thinking; the first way is that true planning considers the fact that all is not known at any time; the second way is that distance is a meassure made on assumptions of the past”.

The Great Master Lea was sitting on his mountain top basking in the sun. Earlier this morning a middle aged sea turtle and an old woman had come before him to ask a question. This is what they asked: “Oh great master Lea, how can we be certain that we have quality in our work?” The great master Lea looked at the middle aged sea turtle and the old woman then turned his head towards the sky and said: “It is not about having quality or not; it’s about matching the right quality with the right customer”

The Great Master Lea was sitting on his mountain top basking in the sun. Earlier this morning an old monkey and a young woman had come before him to ask a question. This is what they asked: “Oh great master Lea, how do we know if we are lean or not?” The great master Lea looked at the monkey and the woman then turned his head towards the sky and said: “It is not about being lean or not. Anyone can be lean; the trick is to know when one is lean enough”
