In the book, The Strangest Secret, by Earl Nightingale, he states the only man who succeeds is a man who is progressively realizing of a worthy ideal. In other words, a man or woman who states I am going to become this and begins working towards that goal. This person succeeds because he or she knows where they are going.

Success is any person who is deliberately doing a predetermined job because that is what they decided to do deliberately.

When you were in school, you were ready to conquer the world.  You wanted to solve big problems with big ideas to make BIG Money.  Upon graduation, you and your friends decided you needed a little experience before taking on the world.  So you found a job.

After 5-10 years, you meet up with your friends, dreams still in tack; however now you have a family.  You cant take on a new risk now that you have a mortgage, car note and credit cards.

After another 5-10 years, you and those same friends meet up again.  Now your talk about the fears of being laid off because you’re too old or the technology has made your job obsolete.  You talk about the regret of life challenges not taken.

I have often heard it said that you learn a lot about a person’s true color in times of conflict. How someone weather’s a storm most clearly demonstrates their core beliefs. When your competition scores big against you, when the money dries up, or when the glamour of success wears off this is when it is easiest to compromise your core beliefs.
