Star Trek Into Darkness will soon be hitting big screen all around the world, as director J.J. Abrams will be prepping himself for the unavoidable Star Wars questions when he does he his rounds promoting Star Trek.

Abrams however, recently opened up to the guys at Empire sharing his thoughts on directing the next Star Wars film. Its no secret that Abrams wasn’t the biggest fan of Star Trek when he took the helm of that series reboot in 2009, so Empire asked Abrams how he’ll be able to keep the same objectivity with Star Wars, a property for which he has very strong affection:

“I don’t know because we’re just getting started. So it’s a great question that I hope I’ll have a good answer to when I know what the answer is. There are infinitely more questions than answers right now, but to me, they’re not that dissimilar. Though I came at these both from very different places, where they both meet is a place of ‘Ooh, that’s really exciting.’ And even though I was never a Star Trek fan, I felt like there was a version of it that would make me excited, that I would think ‘that’s cool, that feels right, I actually would want to see that.”

Abrams continued by reminiscing about his feelings when he first took on Star Trek and how he’s in a similar state while approaching Star Wars:

“I feel like I can identify a hunger for what I would want to see again and that is an incredibly exciting place to begin a project. The movies, the worlds [of Trek and Wars] could not be more different but that feeling that there’s something amazing here is the thing that they share.”

Most fans will remember back in November when Abrams made a public statement that he would not be helming the next Star Wars as fans all around the world had him at the top of their wish list. He obviously had a little change of heart:

“My knee-jerk reaction was that I’m in the middle of working on the Star Trek movie and I can’t even consider it. But then time went by and I got further along working on the movie and getting to a place where I had done most of the heavy lifting. So when I met with Kathy Kennedy we just started discussing it and I was able to actually engage in the conversation. I went down to tell Katie, my wife and I said ‘I had just a very interesting conversation with Kathy.’ That was the beginning.”

EXODUS (Cast Rumour)

Deadline reports that Twentieth Century Fox and director Ridley Scott are keen to have Christian Bale (The Dark Knight Trilogy) play Moses in an upcoming epic based on the biblical figure's life.

The film was initially scripted by Bill Collage and Adam Cooper which was re-written by Steve Zaillian, for the film now titled Exodus.

Bale, who last appeared on the big screen in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, can be seen later this year in David O. Russell's still-untitled drama and Terrence Malick's Knight of Cups.

Exodus is one of two competing big screen stories about Moses in the works. Warner Bros. is developing Gods and Kings. Scripted by Michael Green and Stuart Hazeldine, the film had initially attracted the interest of Steven Spielberg. Now, however, it is said that Spielberg is out and that the studio is keen on signing Ang Lee to helm.

ELIZA GRAVES (Cast News)

Underworld and Total Recall star Kate Beckinsale has signed onto Eliza Graves, the next directing vehicle for Brad Anderson (Session 9, The Call).

Eliza Graves is a psychological thriller about a doctor who takes a job at an insane asylum. There, she falls for another doctor and soon comes to learn that the patients have taken over the clinic.

The film is based on the Edgar Allen Poe tale "The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether" and was adapted by Joseph Gangemi (Fear Itself, Wind Chill).

Shooting is expected to begin this June.

MAN OF STEEL (Goyer Excites)

Man of Steel will be releasing a little later this year, and with the teaser and trailer releasing a little while back it certainly looks to be one awesome film. In a recent interview with Total Film, screenwriter David S. Goyer stated that we haven’t even seen in the tip of the iceberg as yet, going on to say:

Man of Steel

"It's something Chris [Nolan] tried hard to do with the Batman films," Goyer said. "I'm genuinely pleased with how much secrecy we've been able to maintain. There's so much of the movie that people don't know, that hasn't been touched upon. The trailer's just the tiniest, tiniest tip of the iceberg."

Goyer also talked about whether or not this Superman movie will be darker. "Relatable and realistic doesn't necessarily mean dark. I think it would be inappropriate for us to approach a Superman film as if we were doing The Dark Knight. The Batman films are a lot more nihilistic; Superman has always been a story about hope."

Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on June 14, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Russell Crowe, Michael Kelly, Harry Lennix and Richard Schiff. Earlier this week Bryan Singer just tweeted what looks to be headshots of the final main cast headshots for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Fan Bingbing seems to be the latest name joining the ranks has she is set to play the teleporter Blink (most famous for her run in Age of Apocalypse and Exiles) in the film. Bingbing recently starred in the Li Yu-directed film Double Exposure, which broke a box office record for an art film in China, and the Xu Zhen-directed film Lost In Thailand,and she is currently in negotiations to star in the sequel of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Singer’s tweet also confirmed the return of Daniel Cudmore, aka Colossus, who looks to be reprising his role from X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand.

So to recap, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Anna Paquin, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Booboo Stewart, Shawn Ashmore and Ellen Page will be starring in X-Men: Days of Future’s Past.

For now it looks as though this will be final cast list for the film, although we can’t be so sure. We might still get a few surprise cast members coming back as well as new cast members joining the film. Not to mention the possibility of some real fun cameos!

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN 2 (in Development)

Last year we got word that Peter Jackson was hoping to have the next "Tintin" film out in 2015, and now director Steven Spielberg (who helmed the first film) is echoing that sentiment. In an interview with Times of India, Spielberg said they're hoping to start production this year.

"Peter Jackson is directing the next one, I'm producing. We have a script and we're going to start performance capture probably at the end of this year.

"Don't hold me to it, but we're hoping the film will come out around Christmas-time in 2015. We know which books we're making, we can't share that now but we're combining two books which were always intended to be combined by Herge."

While it hasn’t been confirmed, many believe that the two-part "Seven Crystal Balls" and "Prisoners of the Sun" would be the focus of the sequel. Peter Jackson has said previously that he'd like to do the "Destination Moon" and "Explorers on the Moon" books as the third or fourth film in the series.

The first film, 2011's The Adventures of Tintin, grossed over $370 million worldwide.

There's a new live-action take on "Beauty and the Beast" on the way from Walt Disney Pictures. Deadline brings word that the studio has hired Trance screenwriter Joe Ahearne to work on a reimagining of the classic tale, to be titled The Beast.

A French fairy tale with origins in the 18th century, "Beauty and the Beast" has been brought to the big and small screen time and again. Recently, 2011's Beastly offered a modern take on the story, as has The CW's recently launched "Beauty and the Beast" television series. Another, still-untitled live-action film is in the works with Guillermo del Toro slated to direct and Emma Watson attached to headline.

The new Disney version will be produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman.

JANE GOT A GUN (cast News)

There have been a few changes in the casting of Lynne Ramsey's soon-to-shoot western Jane Got a Gun. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Michael Fassbender has departed the project (due to conflicts with the production schedule on X-Men: Days of Future Past). As a result, Joel Edgerton, previously attached to play the villain, will take over Fassbender's role and Jude Law will step in to play the antagonist.

The film, which will also star Natalie Portman and Rodrigo Santoro, features a script by Brian Duffield and centers on a woman (Portman) who must ask an ex-lover for help in order to save her outlaw husband from a gang out to kill him.

Law recently provided a voice for DreamWorks Animation's Rise of the Guardians and can be seen in theaters now in Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects

So far all we know about the story of Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Day’s of Future Past is the comic the film would be based on. It goes without saying Singer would be taking some liberties, and with the potential to tell a singular story that will cross through future and past it will be interesting to see just what Singer has in store.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Bryan Singer was asked about Magneto's arc in the upcoming film and whether his morality struggle, as seen in X-Men: First Class, will still play a role in the film, something which Singer essentially confirmed.

"Because I have both Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender in the picture, you'll deal with both sides of that point of view and it really explores the relationship between Xavier and Magneto and the evolution of that relationship, where it came from and where it's going."

Also in their interview, James McAvoy revealed he doesn't know if he'll have to be bald for the upcoming sequel. Check out the full video below.

Set for release on July 18, 2014, X-Men: Days of Future Past features a script by Simon Kinberg and is said to be inspired by Chris Claremont and John Byrne's comic book storyline that ran in "Uncanny X-Men" #141 and 142 back in 1981. "Days of Future Past" introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

BIOSHOCK (Update.. No Movie)

A few years ago we got word that Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean, Rango) had plans to develop BioShock as a feature film. Unfortunately, the project would fail to materialize, with very little information as to why. Irrational Games' creative director Kevin Levine reveals that it was he himself that ultimately decided to "kill" the project.

"My theory is that Gore wanted to make a hard R film," Levine recalls, "...Then 'Watchmen' came out, and it didn't do well for whatever reason. The studio then got cold feet about making an R rated $200 million film, and they said what if it was a $80 million film - and Gore didn't want to make a $80 million film... They brought another director in, and I didn't really see the match there - and 2K's one of these companies that puts a lot of creative trust in people. So they said if you want to kill it, kill it. And I killed it."

ComingSoon.net spoke with Verbinski some time back about his plans and he himself lamented the budget woes.

"I couldn't really get past anybody that would spend the money that it would take to do it and keep an R rating," he said. "Alternately, I wasn't really interested in pursuing a PG-13 version. Because the R rating is inherent. Little Sisters and injections and the whole thing. I just wanted to really, really make it a movie where, four days later, you're still shivering and going, 'Jesus Christ!'... It's a movie that has to be really, really scary, but you also have to create a whole underwater world, so the pricetag is high. We just didn't have any takers on an R-rated movie with that pricetag."

As for whether or not a BioShock movie could someday happen, neither Gore or Levine is fully writing off the possibility.

"It comes along so rarely," says Levine, "but I had the world, the world existed and I didn't want to see it done in a way that I didn't think was right. It may happen one day, who knows, but it'd have to be the right combination of people."

"That would be a great movie to do in 3D," Verbinski said. "I'd like to go into that world wearing a pair of glasses. I think in general, gaming is perfect for 3D. Anything where you're the protagonist... To make people feel on-edge."

EXPENDABLES 3 (Cast Update)

Well its been a while since we heard anything about Expendables 3, which left many people doubt the possibility of a third film altogether. However, Sylvester Stallone took to Twitter recently to give an update on the status of The Expendables 3.

He said his currently in the process of writing the third installment that we can expect "mountains of surprises." He then added that "EX3 needs NEW blood and more humor.... The films were always meant to be more on the humorous side with moments of drama.”

Jackie Chan was quoted last December as saying that Stallone had asked him to be in the third film and he "agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes."

Stallone, in his latest tweets, confirmed that he's talking to Chan, but that Steven Seagal won't be part of the film. "No S. Seagal, sorry, but maybe we get lucky with J. Chan!"

Then he again mentioned that he is looking to cast "some young bloods!!! By young I mean 22 to 27. Not big bruisers but tech wizard, super brains and a young woman who is not a sex symbol but funny, tough, REAL."

Well going by Stallone’s description, I think that that he just might be hinting that he would like to get Jennifer Lawerence or Emma Stone on board with is. And im sure EXP 3 would be better for it.

The Amazing Spider-Man sequel begun filming back in February, with the entire comic book community waiting to see if this latest tale of our favorite wall crawler will deliver.

With that being said, we been getting loads of images from the set of the film. the latest images from the set revealed that Gwen Stacy (played by Emma Stone) and Mary Jane-Watson (played by Shailene Woodley) will come face to face.

Directed by Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field and Chris Cooper.

In a recent interview Dane Dehaan spoke about his upcoming role in the Amazing Spider-Man 2 as well as spoke about the dynamic his past and present characters had/have with their fathers.

"First of all, 'Chronicle' was about a kid with an abusive father," said DeHaan. "'Place Beyond the Pines' is about a kid who doesn't know who his father is, and they're very different relationships. Obviously with Harry Osborn, the privilege of it is another dynamic. The relationship Harry has with Norman is a different dynamic. Every son has a relationship with their father, whether that father is there or not, and that always has an effect on the person whether they admit it or not. There's a lot of different ways those relationships are complicated."

As for whether there is more to be mined from this character that James Franco didn't touch on in Sam Raimi's trilogy, DeHaan seemed hesitant to draw a comparison.

"I dunno, I mean Franco did his thing, I'll do my thing," DeHaan stated dryly.

When the subject turned to his lack of comic book nerddom, DeHaan was much more outspoken, although hinting that he is indeed doing his homework with about a stack or two of Marvel trade paperbacks.

"I don't think you have to be a fan of something to do the job," he said matter-of-factly. "I think ultimately it's important that I'm familiar with past takes on the Osborn story, more for like common, know-it-all 'cause it's stuff I should know. My job as an actor is the same job, whether it’s a comic book movie or a gritty Derek Cianfrance drama, or a 'Chronicle,' or a 'Lawless,' which is to take a character and, for lack of better word, to breathe life into it. I'm a fan of acting!"

Testing the waters to see if DeHaan was interested in making his mark on another mega-franchise, we pointed out his remarkable similarity to a young Mark Hamill and asked him point-blank if he'd be interested in entering the "Star Wars" universe as a young Skywalker progeny in Star Wars: Episode VII.

"My dad would really like that!" DeHaan smiled. "My dad's a really big 'Star Wars' fan. I've never really been a 'Star Wars' fan, though. I dunno why, maybe it's 'cause my dad liked it so much. (laughs) I have no idea why, it's just never really been my thing. I've always gravitated towards comic book movies. I don't read comic books, but I love the last Batman franchise, Sam Raimi's second 'Spider-Man' was pretty sick. The first 'Iron Man' was really great, I couldn't wait for 'Captain America' to come out. Those are my guilty pleasures for sure."

Kick-Ass 2 will release on August 16. Its written and directed by Jeff Wadlow, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison and Jim Carrey.

Director David Yates is currently developing the new Tarzan movie at Warner Bros.

News has been scarce of late, with the last rumor mentioning that Yates wanted Alexander Skarsgard (Battleship, "True Blood") to play the title role with Samuel L. Jackson being up for the character Williams, a Civil War veteran seeking redemption for his part in atrocities committed against Native Americans. This interesting bit of rumour has yet to be confirmed.

Now, the New York Post is reporting that Oscar-nominated The Help and Zero Dark Thirty star Jessica Chastain is up for the roll of Jane in the film. "The overworked actress and recent Oscar nominee is said to be the first choice to play Jane in a new version of “Tarzan,” reports The Post’s Richard Johnson... In this story, the jungle boy is fully assimilated to life in London when Queen Victoria asks him to investigate troubles in the Congo.”

Featuring a screenplay by Stephen Sommers and Stuart Beattie, the live-action film will adapt and update Edgar Rice Burroughs' 1912 book "Tarzan of the Apes."

Christina Hendricks is set to headline a Campbell Scott-directed adaptation of Joan Didion's A Book of Common Prayer, Variety reports.

The 1977 novel is officially described as follows:

"A Book of Common Prayer" is the story of two American women in the derelict Central American nation of Boca Grande. Grace Strasser-Mendana controls much of the country's wealth and knows virtually all of its secrets; Charlotte Douglas knows far too little. "Immaculate of history, innocent of politics," she has come to Boca Grande vaguely and vainly hoping to be reunited with her fugitive daughter. As imagined by Didion, her fate is at once utterly particular and fearfully emblematic of an age of conscienceless authority and unfathomable violence.

In addition to her ongoing role on AMC's "Mad Men," Hendricks will soon re-team with her Drive co-star Ryan Gosling for his directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster.

BOND 24 (Director Out)

Sam Mendes, the directed the most successful Bond film of all time with Skyfall, has officially confirmed to Empire that he will not be behind the camera for Bond 24, having declined an offer from Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

The Oscar-winner explained, saying "It has been a very difficult decision not to accept Michael and Barbara’s very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie", Mendes said, explaining "but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and King Lear, that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond".

Daniel Craig is set to return as 007 for the fourth time in Bond 24 which is scheduled for a 2014 release, so a year off pursuing theatre projects would firmly rule Mendes out of the running. Skyfall co-writer John Logan who is contracted to write the next two Bond outings is currently penning a script for the next Bond film.

With a scheduled release date for next year, the priorty will have to be getting a director onboard as soon as possible. My top choices would have to be Christopher Nolan, since his just been producing films of late or Ben Affleck!

THE LAST WITCH HUNTER (Director In)

A few years ago it could be said that Vin Diesel hit a bit of rough patch as the only films that he was being offered at the time was Fast and Furious films. Looking at the latest installment that is by now means a bad thing.

While Vin Diesel hasn’t signed on to star in The Last Witch Hunter just as yet, Summit Entertainment and Emmett/Furla Films who are co-financing the project have managed to find their director for the film in Breck Eisner.

The story follows an immortal witch hunter who reluctantly teams up with a female witch to stop the covens of New York City from unleashing a plague on humanity. According to Deadline, Diesel is in talks to play the Witch Hunter.

Diesel will next be seen in Fast & Furious 6, as well as Riddick, and has also signed on to Hannibal the Conqueror, The Machine and rumored to be interested in returning to the role of xXx in a potential follow-up film.

In a recent interview with NewsRama, famed X-Men writer Chris Claremont (whose co-creations include characters such as Rogue, Gambit, Emma Frost, Mystique and Sabertooth ) shared his opinion on Bryans Singers film adaption X-Men: Days of Future Past, which was adapted from Claremont's own 1981 comics storyline of the same name.

"The challenge, I would think, for Bryan is that the heart of the original story is not the fight with the Brotherhood back in the present day," Claremont said. "The challenge, the story, is actually what happens in the future. Getting them to the point where you can send Kitty back, and seeing the consequences of what will happen if they fail, and not knowing at the end how it's going to turn out. You think it's going to be a happy ending, but you're not sure, because pretty much everybody dies -- in the comic, anyway."

As for the time travel elements, Claremont had his own thoughts on that as well. "You could look at it as time travel, or you could look at it as pan-dimension," he explained. "It's all a matter of how you want to define it, and I'm sure they've got some brainiacs out on the left coast earning a small research stipend figuring out a plausible way of making it fly. That's the fun and games of Hollywood. How the hell they're going to fit it into 120 minutes, I have no sodding idea. I'd be looking on this as your basic 1974 film with an intermission."

All things considered, though, Claremont is optimistic about what's in store for the upcoming film. "The really nice thing with Future Past is that you actually have a superhero film -- much to everyone's surprise, I will hope -- that is about something," he said. "It's about racism, I hope. It's about resisting oppression. It's about fighting for freedom and the cost of fighting for freedom. I will be fascinated to see how they weave the two together."

I can’t wait to see what Bryan Singer is planning on doing with this franchise, all I know its going to be spectacular, fun and awesome!

A new Tomb Raider game is set to release and it would seem that Crystal Dynamics wants to take full advantage of the newest re-imagining of this classical character. Crystal Dimensions is reportedly working alongside GK Films in order to bring this new incarnation of the Tomb Raider to the big screen.

According to Variety, “they are working from this new take that we’ve given them,” Darrell Gallagher, head of studio at Crystal Dynamics, said of GK Films, who acquired the screen rights to the game in 2011. “It’s a good partnership. We’re seeing the challenges through the same lens.”

“It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise,” Gallagher continued. “We didn’t want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old Tomb Raider films.”

Iron Man's Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are penning the screenplay for the new Tomb Raider movie, which producer Graham King has said "is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece. It does have a lot of really great characters, but it's a lot of action and a lot of fun, and for me, it's something very different. I've not really done a movie like that before, but I really gravitated to rebooting this franchise and we're going to give it a shot."

Gemma Arteton

With the search for the new Laura Croft to begin sooner rather then later, my top pick would have to be the beautifully talented actress Gemma Arteton.

The previous two Tomb Raider films, starring Angelina Jolie as the busty, British treasure hunter Lara Croft and released by Paramount, grossed over $430 million at the global box office.

There’s no official release date for the film as yet.

If you still havent checked out the latest awesome badass trailer for Iron Man 3 then you can check it out below. But here is a little interview Shane Black and Kevin Fiege had with Collider recently.

Shane Black on the fans:

“I consider the fan base to basically be Marvel’s job. Mine is to be a fan and I am one and I have been from a young age, of Iron Man, so for me, I just please me and I hope that pleases the rest of the fans. It should. For instance, one of the joys for me has always been seeing how you take a villain from the comic book and realize him in a slightly more realistic way for the movie, render him for movies in a way that’s recognizable, but different. And that’s fun. Like the Joker in The Dark Knight is not the Joker from the comic book, but there’s just enough of him that you recognize him and go, “Wow, what a creative way of interpreting the Joker for motion pictures.” So that was our task here too. The fans love this character The Mandarin and we just said, “Well, what we don’t want is this potentially racist, stereotype of a Fu Manchu villain just waving his fist.” But we found a way, I think, to get an iteration of The Mandarin that we like. We got very excited about bout having cracked this story when we found out that we could include The Mandarin and give him a character that would be a perfect match, the ultimate Iron Man villain, but without relying too heavily on what the comic book stereotype was.”

Kevin Feige on the army of new Iron Man armors and Iron Patriot:

“You know we’ve seen, through Avengers, 7 or 8 suits and we wanted to progress that in this one. It’s part of, again, the effect Avengers had on him is that he’s tinkering even more than he did before and he’s building much more than he ever did before. The Iron Patriot is also kind of a response to Avengers. It’s a government rebrand of War Machine, frankly because the US government felt that they were slightly embarrassed by the events of Avengers. These crazy heroes known as “The Avengers” were the ones that saved the day, saved New York City, saved United States; not the government. The government felt they needed a hero of their own, they have a military officer that has one of these suits, and they paint it red, white, and blue. They pose it next to the president and Tony sort of rolls his eyes, you saw a little bit of that today. They want a hero of their own. And Tony’s like, “What do you mean, I’m a hero?” And they say “Well you’ve been spending a lot of time in your workshop. We want somebody we can rely on.” So that’s sort of how the Iron Patriot came about. And, again, it’s a thing from the comics, we just thought the Iron Patriot suit looked equal parts cool and slightly goofy in the comics. It’s not Norman Osborne or any of that stuff obviously, but it gave us a place to go with Rhodey. We wanted to take Rhodey and his sort of split loyalties between his friend and his duty and keep carrying that storyline through. “

When asked about the Deep Space suit we've seen he said:

“Well I would say that I’ve owned a number of “Jungle Attack” Batmans in my time and I don’t remember any jungle attack batman sequences, so.”

Shane Black on The Mandarin and the Ten Rings:

“From the very beginning we were all about that, yeah, the idea of just a real world interpretation of this guy who, I hate to break it to you, but he’s not from space in this. The rings are rings. They’re showmanship. They’re accoutrements. They’re paraphernalia of warfare that he sort of drapes himself with. He studies Sun Tzu. He studies insurgency tactics. He surrounds himself with dragons and symbols of warlords and Chinese iconography because he wants to represent this sort of prototypical terrorist who – we use as the example Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now - this guy who may have been an American, may have been a British National, someone who is out there doing field work, supervising atrocities for the intelligence community who went nuts in the field and became this sort of devotee of war tactics, and now has surrounded himself with a group of people over which he presides, and the only thing that unifies them is this hatred of America. So he’s the ultimate terrorist, but he’s also savvy. He’s been in the intelligence world. He knows how to use the media. And taking it to a real world level like that was a lot fun for us.

He has an intelligence background. He probably supervised atrocities in his time. His nationality's not even clear because he's shrouded in secrecy, but at some point this field officer went nuts and became a student of warfare and Ancient Chinese symbology and drew from South American insurgency tactics and has created around himself this little world of warfare - the only unifying principle of which seems to be a hatred of the United States. So he represents every terrorist in a way, but specifically he has crafted himself in the manner of The Mandarin, of a warlord. I think that's great, because you get the comic book, but you don't have to deal with the specifics of Fu Manchu stereotyping. We're not saying he's Chinese. We're saying he draws a cloak around him of Chinese symbols and dragons because it represents his obsession with Sun Tzu and various ancient arts of warfare that he has studied. That's what we like about it. “

Kevin Feige on the film's connection to Avengers:

“Yes, and it sort of answers your other question, which is that the only real connective tissue we wanted from Avengers in this movie was Avengers’ effect on Tony’s psyche. This man who comes from this grounded universe – I always say it’s grounded enough although he builds an iron suit and flies around – the notion that Tony Stark, who is the shit and always thought of himself as top dog, now has been to outer space, nearly got killed by freaking aliens, has encountered a god that can smash him across the forest with a hammer, has encountered a guy that his father used to talk about from 1945. It’s no mistake that we meet Tony at the beginning of this movie and he’s just building suits, putting himself in the suit, and he’s much more comfortable when he’s in the suit. And a lot of this movie is about Tony learning to become Tony Stark again outside the armor, & he has a little help in that his house is completely destroyed.”

The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Sir Ben Kingsley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, Rebecca Hall, and Guy Pearce. It's set to open in 3D and 2D theaters on May 3rd, 2013.

It looks like things are starting to move forward on Matt Reeves' upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. In addition to the returning Andy Serkis, recent reports name Jason Clarke and Kodi Smit-McPhee as two of the sequel's principal cast.

ComingSoon.net now reports that Gary Oldman will be boarding the project as the leader of a human colony.

Set 15 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn finds most of humanity wiped out and the intelligent apes ruling over the world. Part of the film's focus is said to be on a small group of San Francisco-based scientists that are forming a resistance against the apes and part follows Serkis' Caesar as he, like his namesake, tries to maintain order and power within his new civilization.

Oldman recently starred in John Hillcoat's Lawless and reprised his role as Commissioner Gordon in The Dark Knight Rises. He can be seen later this year in Robert Luketic's Paranoia and early next year in Jose Padilha's RoboCop.

Featuring a screenplay by Mark Bomback, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes starts filming this spring for a May 23, 2014 release. Peter Chernin, Dylan Clarke, Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa are producing.

Paul Bettany is in negotiations to star opposite Johnny Depp in Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister’s directorial debut, Transcendence.

Annie Marter and Straight Up Films, whose company principals include Marisa Polvino, Kate Cohen and Regency Boies, developed the screenplay, written by Jack Paglen. Polvino, Marter and Cohen will produce along with David Valdes (Book of Eli), Johnson and Kosove. Boies will co-produce. Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Aaron Ryder are serving as executive producers.

Bettany notably starred in A Beautiful Mind, which earned him a SAG nomination, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, for which he received a BAFTA nomination, and The Da Vinci Code, among many others.

Pfister most recently served as cinematographer on The Dark Knight Rises, and on last year’s best picture nominee, Moneyball. Other credits include such films as The Italian Job and Laurel Canyon.

Principal photography on Transcendence is set to begin in April in Los Angeles. Warner Bros. will release in mid 2014 via its output deal with Alcon.

Dylan Baker and Meagan Good are the latest names to join the cast of Adam McKay's Anchorman: The Legend Continues, Deadline reports. They join the returning Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, David Koechner and Paul Rudd as well as fellow newcomers Kristen Wiig and James Marsden.

Good, who was on the big screen in last year's Think Like a Man, is currently headlining the NBC crime drama "Deception." Baker, meanwhile, is best known for his recurring role as Dr. Curt Connors in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. He recently starred in the television miniseries "Political Animals."

A sequel to 2004's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Anchorman: The Legend Continues is about to begin production in Atlanta, Georgia. It is expected to hit theaters December 20th of this year.

With his 21 and Over hitting theaters tomorrow, producer David Hoberman spoke with CraveOnline (via Comingsoon.net) the currently-shooting The Muppets... Again!.

"I think there are so many surprises and different, fun stories going on in this one," Hoberman says. "...We go to a lot of different places. We just happen to end up in London. That’s where the caper culminates.”

Although he won't write out seeing Jason Segel reprise his role as Gary in a future Muppet movie, Hoberman says there won't be a cameo this time around. The Moopets, however, who made their first appearance in 2011's The Muppets, will be back with Miss Poogy making an appearance. Also returning is Oscar-winning songwriter Bret McKenzie.

“Bret wrote all these songs for this new movie and they are so different and cover such a wide range of genres," Hoberman continues. "I think we’ve got a couple of spectacular musical numbers in this one and I think it runs the gamut of ballad and comedy songs. Probably one homage to contemporary rock. I think we have five songs in this and they’re all original, so I’m hopeful. Music is so ingrained in the Muppet culture and history, and it’s part of the fun of doing it, frankly.”

Set for release on March 21, 2014, the Walt Disney Pictures film takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe's most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World's Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two (Ricky Gervais). The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.
