This is the introduction / first episode of REELATER. REELATER is a digital platform that will document and archive the thoughts and experiences of an independent filmmaker as he navigates his way through the film industry.

Let me start off with a little history if I may, November 2014 we were busy with our first feature film until suddenly one of our lead actors dropped out leaving us with the tough choice to halt all production for the sake of the actors and ourselves we stopped.

After a bit of a slump…okay more than a bit, more like the slump ‘Jerry Stahl’ went through but up and onwards as the adage goes.

So we picked ourselves up and decided to start a new project – ‘Alexia’. With the next few episodes of REELATER I will be going through the process of making a film from start to finish, from concept to distribution.

Episode 1 – CONCEPT!

You must know and understand the idea you have before it becomes a concept and that concept then turned into a story and then that story into a script.

I prefer things being put down on paper, “pen to paper” as they say. There is no backspace button on paper, no delete button and no distracting apps on paper you just write, scribble, write some more and then write a little more and before you know it! A story is beginning to take shape. I find talking it through with writing / producing partners helps a whole lot, it helps the idea gain momentum when I ramble on about it so not sure if you have anyone to ramble to but if not turn on an audio/video recorder and start chatting yourself up sounds silly and somewhat naughty but believe me it’s not however it is helpful when you go back and you listen there might be something there, so talk a lot about the idea but also learn to listen even more. Listen to your advice, to the suggestion of others and even that little voice inside you who screams when something isn’t quite ready and you’ve convinced yourself it is.

So for this week grab a pen, a paper and just start writing.

TYRESE GOES ON A ROADTRIP WITH A FAN

DOING SOME "DUMBSHIT"

After a fan screening in San Francisco for Furious 7, Tyrese Gibson was supposed to catch a flight back to LA, he over slept, missing his flight in the process. He then took to Social media to try and find a fan willing to give him a ride to LA. The trip is filled with laughs, rapping, crying and getting pulled over by the cops. Certainly a memorable trip for any fan. Tyrese took to social media and uploaded videos throughout the entire trip. The video below is simply a compilation of all those videos from Facebook and Instagram.

At the end of the trip not only did Tyrese take him with to the interview with Big Boy, he also set up the Fan (@JayRG on Instagram) in suite at a hotel with $1000 for his trouble.

He also promised to take him as his personal guest to the Furious 7 Premier.

Yep this is every fans dream.

THE X-MEN APOCALYPSE AND BEYOND

X-Men: Days for Future Past releases on May 23 and yet all we have seen from the film was that little teaser trailer a few months ago. We expect to see a full trailer pretty soon, but in the mean time it would seem that Bryan Singer is already looking to the future or should I say the past for the next instalment, X-Men: Apocalypse

“We’re currently breaking the story,” said Bryan Singer speaking with TotalFilm. “We’re almost ready to go. Dan Harris, Michael Dougherty (X-Men 2) and Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Last Stand and Days of Future Past) are in the office across the street from me, working on story stuff right now. It’s great to have Dan and Michael back.”

Singer then continued saying, “We’re going to deal with the notion of ancient mutants – the fact they were born and existed thousands of years ago. But it’ll be a contemporary movie – well, it’ll take place in the ’80s… The ’80s is a period now – it’s hard for me to believe that!”

“Apocalypse will have more of the mass destruction that X-Men films, to date, have not relied upon. There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle… I don’t want to get too specific, but we’ll introduce familiar characters in a younger time. That’ll be fun to show the audience. I call these movies in-between-quels. It’s a mind-fuck sometimes in terms of where things fall in the timeline!”

The director then went on to say that there quite a few more stories that he would like to tell beyond Apocalypse and that the idea of looking into the past of the original X-Men intrigued him:

“Yeah, there actually are [more stories I want to tell]. It all stems back to when I did [the first] X-Men. You always want to know where a character’s going to go, what their future’s going be like. You can always sequelise. But on that film I also had actors asking ‘Who am I? Where did my character come from?’ So as a director you always need a backstory to give your actors. It may not be the right backstory, but it’s one you can give the actor to help them understand their character. These prequels are really exciting for me because they give me a chance to explore ideas I came up with more than a decade ago.”

So this goes without saying that X-Men: Apocalypse might be featuring a younger yet familiar popular line up of the X-Men we come to love. Speaking of which, many fans have been calling for the Academy Award Winner, Lupita Nyong’o, to play the part of Storm in Apocalypse or a future instalment taking over the roll from Halle Berry.

Halle Berry’s name has been popping up in the rumour mill of late in regard to her role in Days of Future Past. If the rumour mill is to be believed then Berry might only be popping in the film for a cameo with her character only having one line, as most of her scenes have ended up on the cutting room floor. This is just a rumour but it was reported by NY Daily News however, SuperHeroHype have contacted their sources and have refuted these claims. So take it however, you will, all I want to see is Lupita as the next young, badass AFRICAN Storm.

We also got some Wolverine news! Director James Mangold who directed The Wolverine, a film that I truly love, has stated that he will be directing the next instalment in Logans solo adventures, but that it will only come after Apocalypse. X-Men: Apocalypse will be releasing in 2016, meaning that Wolverine 2 or 3 depending on how you counting (I just ignored origins), the next Wolverine film will possibly only arrive in 2017 or 2018.

Let me know what you think about what Bryan Singer has said about Apocalypse, Lupita as Storm, and Wolverine most likely being released by the time Hugh Jackman hits 50.

STAR WARS EPISODE 7 LOOKS TO LUPITA

Every possibly young star and veteran actor has been linked to a role in the next Star Wars film.

A new report has recent Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o being added to the list of possible cast members, as she apparently met with Abram’s to read for a part as recently as a couple of weeks ago.

While details on the role are far and few between, there is a rumour that she might be in part a descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Lupita as a Jedi? I’m Sold! This would be pretty cool if she does get the part and it would be amazing for her career as well

(Scorsese longest film, New Tarantino and Vin wants Ang Lee)

THE WOLF ON WALL STREET

The Wolf of Wall Street opens on December 25^th and now we know just how long the Martin Scorese film will be. France distributor Metropolitan Filmexport tells Allocine [via The Playlist] that the movie runs 179 minutes, which would get it just in under the 3-hour limit usually set by most studios. Early reports also said the film was NC-17, so even with that material cut, there’s still plenty left for the true story of Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) raiding Wall Street during the 1990s. This is definitely one film you do not want to miss.

If Allocine is correct, then the movie will be Scorsese’s longest film to date, beating out Casino by one minute. The film stars. Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler, Matthew McConaughey, Jean Dujardin, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal, and Rob Reiner. The Wolf of Wall Street opens on December 25th.

NEW TARANTINO WESTERN

We finally know what Tarantino’s next film will be, sort of anyway.

With Django Unchained having earned over $425 million at the worldwide box office, Quentin Tarantino is sticking with the Western genre for his next film.

Appearing on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," Tarantino talked about the project.

"I can't talk that much about it, but I will say one thing. I haven't told anyone about this publicly, but I will say the genre. It's a Western," he said. "It's not a 'Django' sequel, but it's another Western, and the thing is I had so much fun doing 'Django' and I love Westerns so much, that after I taught myself how to make one, it's like 'well okay, now let me make another one now I know what I'm doing.'"

KOJAK

Last year Universal Pictures' announced that Kojak would be coming to the big screen and Vin Diesel is set to headline it.

"Kojak… New York… Ang Lee…" was the message Diesel posted on Facebook when asked what director he'd like to work with in the future.

Although it's entirely possible that Diesel is merely pointing out his top choice, to specifically name Kojak as the project coupled with the fact that the film has not yet announced a director suggests that Diesel's dream is about to come true.

Screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Skyfall) are providing the screenplay to the television series adaptation. The original show, which ran on CBS from 1973 to 1978, starred Telly Savalas as NYPD Detective Lieutenant Theo Kojak, known for his penchant for lollipops and his catchphrase, "Who loves ya baby?"

Kojak has never before been brought to the big screen but a short-lived series reboot was attempted in 2005 with Ving Rhames in the Kojak role.

Diesel is also set to produce the feature version alongside Samantha Vincent.

TOKLIEN BIOPIC

The true story behind The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien is in the works with a biopic tentatively titled Tolkien. The LA Times reports that David Gleeson will be providing the screenplay.

Tolkien is said to focus largely on the author's young life, including his time at Pembroke College and his military service during the first World War. The film will tie his experiences as a young man to those depicted in his iconic fantasy novels.

It is unknown whether or not Tolkien's estate will be involved in the biopic's production in any capacity. Christopher Tolkien, J.R.R.'s son, is infamously not a fan of Peter Jackson's big screen adaptations, the latest of which hits theaters December 13 as The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON

Elizabeth Olsen just recently been cast as Scarlet Witch in Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron, hs finally given the freedom to talk about the latest film as well as her role in the film.

Olsen cites the sequel's "cool ensemble" as one of the project's draws for her, telling The Huffington Post, "When there's a great ensemble already in place, you're just like, That sounds awesome -- because I want to work with all of those people. That's amazing. And it's all of these people that I respect."

The Godzilla and Martha Marcy May Marlene actress also likes the fact that no one's portrayed Scarlet Witch onscreen before, thus allowing her the opportunity to make Wanda Maximoff her own.

Olsen says Scarlet Witch's "life is insane. And for obvious reasons you can't talk about certain background [her dad's Magneto, but Fox owns the film rights to him so Marvel can't use him], but it is so much fun. And it's so funny, everyone always talks to me about, 'Do you really love having all of these psychological problems and things like that [with your characters]?' And I'm like, 'I don't mean for that to happen.' And with Scarlet Witch, I'm like she's complicated, that one! You know? Like, She might be the most damaged of them all! Which is so cool."

Avengers: Age of Ultron -- which will reunite Olsen with both Oldboy's Jackson and her Godzilla co-star Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Scarlet Witch's brother Quicksilver -- begins filming in early 2014 for a May 1, 2015 release.

ANT-MAN

Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man film has been in development for a real long time, but the film is finally moving forward as fans can expect the film in 2015. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Wright elaborated on what he wants to do with the film and how he thinks it will surprise audiences.

"I want to make him into a badass [laughs]. No, I always liked that comic and I always thought it would be an interesting thing to see in live-action. That's why I [showed] that Comic-Con test that we did for Marvel, to show this fight scene like a proof of concept, like this is what the action is going to look like. I think a lot of people who maybe don't know the character sort of see that test and go, "Oh, right, I get it. It's like an action film," so that's the idea. I think people will be surprised by what kind of movie it is, and so in that respect it's something that I know is going to stand out because it's got a very different story and is a very different movie."

When asked about the tone of the film, Wright says he thinks it will be in line with the rest of the Marvel films.

"Well, I think the Marvel movies are funny, you know? I think generally the Iron Man films and The Avengers is funny. They're not ever in the comedy section, but they are funny and entertaining, so I think it'll be something in a similar vein to that."

Walt Disney Pictures has scheduled a July 31, 2015 release for the film, which was written by Wright and Joe Cornish.

BATMAN VS SUPERMAN

There are a ton of big, highly anticipated films set to be released in 2015 and Zack Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman film surely is one of them. In a recent interview with Variety, the producer of those films, Charles Roven, talked about their statuses,

“On ‘Batman vs. Superman,’ we started soft prep in June, and we’ll be shooting eight months later.... We felt that we accomplished our goals with ‘Man of Steel, our intention was to bring Superman into the 21st century with a contemporary character and a different kind of superhero than what’s out there right now...We knew we had created a world and we had left Easter eggs in the movie that let people know that in the universe that Zack was creating, there was the possibility of other DC characters besides Clark Kent."

He went on to reveal that the idea of the sequel has been around for awhile,

"We had a sketch of an idea, the beats of a story that David Goyer worked on with Zack. We have a first draft, and we’re continuing to work with it. Those scripts are never fully finished until the movie is in the theaters. We love the characters — we think that Ben (Affleck) is going to be a really great and interesting Batman.”

He went on to discuss why they cast Ben Affleck in the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

“We wanted a guy who had a certain age and a certain gravitas to what he had done in terms of his recent work. If you take a look at ‘The Town’ and ‘Argo,’ he plays a couple of serious guys in those movies. He’s a big man. He’s also a mature man. As you see him and Henry together, one definitely has much more experience just by looking at him. That’s what we wanted, particularly juxtaposed against our Superman.”

Batman vs. Superman is set to be released in theaters July 17th, 2015,

CHARLIE HUNNAM SAYS HE AINT GREY, STAR TREK IN2 HORIBBLE BOSSES AND AMERICAN OLDBOY IS JUST THE COVER

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

Universal Pictures and Focus Features have recently announced that Charlie Hunnam will no longer play Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey.

"The filmmakers of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey," the studio said in a statement.

It has to be noted that Hunnam wasn’t that interested in the role initially and reluctantly signed onto the role last month.

Matt Bomer is said to be back in the running for the role, although casting for Grey is still ongoing.

Dakota Johnson and Jennifer Ehle are still attached to star in the August 1, 2014 release, which will directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.

JURASSIC WORLD

A few weeks back we got confirmation that the fourth Jurrassic Park film would be titled Jurassic World. We also got news that Steven Spielberg would not be directing the film but would stay on as a producer with Collin Trevorrow stepping behind the camera for the latest installment.

Deadline is now reporting that 12-year-old actor Ty Simpkins has landed one of the lead roles in the hotly anticipated sequel. The site also says that New Girl star Jake Johnson is reportedly in the mix for a role in the film, but that remains unconfirmed.

While most would know Ty as Harley in Iron Man 3, Simpkins has been acting for eight years and has had roles in Speilberg's War of the Worlds and both Insidious films.

Jurassic World will be shot in 3D and is planned to hit theaters on Friday, June 12, 2015.

HORRIBLE BOSSES 2

"Star Trek" and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit star Chris Pine has signed a deal to join Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day and Jamie Foxx in Horrible Bosses 2.

Pine will play half of a father-son duo who steal the main characters' idea for a new invention. Christoph Waltz was rumored to be up for the father role last week, but he reportedly won't be available.

Coming to theaters on November 26, 2014, the New Line sequel is directed by Sean Anders.

RAIDERS!

Back in 1982, two 11-year-old boys, Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala, set off to make their own shot-for-shot remake of Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark, spending a full seven years to complete what is now known as Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation.

A few years ago, the film managed to receive quite a bit attention with Spielberg himself praising it.

We now have word via Deadline that the film will be indeed moving forward.

"Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made," a 2012 book by Alan Eisenstock about the production, is set to serve as the film's source material. At one point, Ghost World creator Daniel Clowes was attached to provide the screenplay, but there's no word on whether or not his script is being used for this iteration of the project.

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA

Nintendo's Eiji Aonuma recently spoke with Kotaku about the possibility of a Zelda film and how the company would use the opportunity to embrace audience interaction in movie theaters.

“This is something that me and Mr. Miyamoto talked about,” Aonuma says. “If we were to make a Zelda title, if we had interest in doing that, I think really what would be most important to us is to be able to play with the format of a movie, make it more interactive, like you’re able to take your 3DS into the theater and that leads you into participating in it somehow. We wouldn’t want to make it the same as any other movie. We want to somehow change what a movie is.”

Unfortunately there are currently no plans to develop a Zelda film any time soon.

OLDBOY

Spike Lee’s Oldboy starring Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen will be invading our screens on November 27^th. The film is a remake of the Chan-Wook Park’s beloved 2003 film of the same name. With that being said there are many that have voiced their disapproval of this American remake of Oldboy,

Writer and co-producer Mark Protosevich, and stars Michael Imperioli and Pom Klementieff hit the stage at the New York Comic Con to discuss the film, but the large majority of the conversation boiled down to a single topic – how and why do you remake such an incredible film?

Protosevich insisted, "When the movie was announced, I appreciate and certainly I know there are people out there who are skeptical about our version." In fact, Protosevich recalled his own reaction to first hearing about the plan to remake Park's film before he was even attached to the project. "At one point, Justin Lin was going to direct it and I remember seeing that in the trades and as a fan of the original, my reaction was, 'Aw, really?' And so I understand that impulse. I get it. But in my circumstance, I was presented with this opportunity … to work with a couple of people [and it wasn't] a situation I was gonna turn down."

Those people were Will Smith and Steven Spielberg, but eventually, both decided not to follow through with it. However, at that point, Protosevich was already too immersed in the material to pull out. "I'd written a 30-page treatment and you really start to see the movie in your head. It really started to resonate with me and it meant a lot to me to see this through." After locking in Spike Lee as the film's new director, Protosevich recalled, "I came to New York and Spike and I had breakfast and then we sat in his office at NYU and we watched the original film together."

Read the Old Boy Manga and watch the film all you want, it's not going to convince the diehard fanbase that this remake is necessary just yet. Protosevich revisited one particularly distressing reaction to the project. "A friend shared with me a comment from the Internet where the reaction was, 'Typical Hollywood bullsh*t! They’re exploiting an existing piece of art just to make money!' And I do take issue with that because I dare you to show me somebody who would watch that original film and afterwards go, 'We're gonna clean up on this!'"

Park's feature is as dark and twisted as they come, and Protosevich proudly proclaimed, "We're just as psychologically screwed up, believe me." He also noted, "We all came from a place of honor and respect to the original. I love the original, and I think it's one of the great moviegoing experiences I ever had, and all of us involved were very much inclined to treat the material with as much honor and respect as we can."

But of course, respecting the original doesn't mean copying the original nor should it, so Protosevich pointed out a few differences. "I think one of the things that is different in our script and one of the things that I most remember from the film was the period of incarceration. We actually spend a little more time there and we shot for a week straight on this set that was just a small little room and Josh going through various makeups and transformations that correspond to different periods."

He also noted, "There are certain things that we felt were iconic to the original and we were absolutely going to use them. There were other things that I think we perhaps felt were culturally alien to what will be a western audience." Protosevich added, "There are also I think moments in the original film that are sort of these really unusual, unique visual moments that I think really, in a lot of ways, belong to that movie and to try to recreate them, that didn't feel right."

Protosevich dished out one particularly appropriate analogy that could put this whole thing into prospective. "What Spike and I often talked about was the idea of cover versions. Like, I love Neil Young's 'Like a Hurricane,' but Roxy Music does a great cover of it and I'm happy that both those things exist." On the other hand, he also noted, "If you feel that way about it, that it shouldn't even exist, there's nothing I can say or we can do that is going to change that opinion probably, because that's a very sort of fundamentalist belief. I just hope that perhaps there's a part of people who are open to the experience."

MOVIEROUNDUP (RONAN UP FOR STAR WARS, MACKIE TALKS CAPTAIN AMERICA & I SAW THE DEVIL HIS A COWARD)

(COMEDY FOR TYRION, OLDBOY IS A COWARD & MACKIE GETS NO SPANDEX)

TYRION WILL TO DO SOME COMEDY

Peter Dinklage is set to headline an untitled comedy at Paramount Pictures, says a story today at The Hollywood Reporter.

Although no story details have officially been released, the trade suggests that the film's plot involves around a man who tells people that he's a leprechaun. We also know that the film might be R-Rated.

Dinklage is best known for playing Tyrion Lannister on HBO's "Game of Thrones." He's also appeared on the big screen in projects like The Station Agent and both versions of Death at a Funeral. He'll next star as Bolivar Trask in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past.

STAR WARS: EPISODE 7

For the last couple of months we have been hearing a number of different actors and actresses auditioning for the latest upcoming Star Wars film. Earlier in the week actress Saoirse Ronan revealed to Empire Magazine that she did infact audition for a role in the upcoming Star Wars film saying:

“Yeah, I did [audition for Star Wars Episode VII]… I don’t know whether I should have said that now! I mean, everyone did. Everyone has auditioned for it. So many people I know have gone in for the part I’ve gone in for, and guys who’ve gone in for a particular part, so I’d imagine J.J. is probably just scanning the earth to find the people that ne needs.”

Ronan also confirmed what we assumed, that no one knows anything about the movie.

“But nobody has a clue what it’s about, and nobody’s read the script. So I’ve gone in and read for it, but I have to say, I think it’s the only time I’ve ever thought, ‘You know what? Even if I don’t get it, I had so much fun auditioning, pretending to take out a lightsaber – out of a bag, kind of inspect it and not know what it is. That was… that was great. A lightsaber! Star Wars!”

Set to feature a script by Michael Arndt, Star Wars: Episode VII is rumored to focus on a new generation of heroes and could feature appearances by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original Star Wars trilogy.

COWARD

Variety is reporting that Korean director Kim Jee-Woon (I Saw the Devil, The Last Stand) will be adapting "Coward," the first in Ed Brubaker's Criminal comic series, for the big screen. Brubaker has written the screenplay for the film, which was previously headed for an adaptation in 2011 with 30 Days of Night director David Slade. Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell will produce the film.

Here's the official description for the comic:

"Coward is the story of Leo, a professional pickpocket who is also a legendary heist-planner and thief. But there's a catch with Leo, he won't work any job that he doesn't call all the shots on, he won't allow guns, and the minute things turn south, he's looking for any exit that won't land him in prison. But when he's lured into a risky heist, all his rules go out the window, and he ends up on the run from the cops and the bad men who double-crossed him. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Captain America: The Winter Soldier has debuted footage of the film at Comic Con and Disney’s D23 Expo meeting a great amount of exciting from the fans. The footage however has yet to be leaked online and Marvel are still holding out the trailer, presumably waiting for the release of Thor: The Dark World.

However, it would seem that has stopped actor Anthony Mackie from talking with Rolling Stone on his role as Falcon in the upcoming sequel to First Avenger.

“I wanted Falcon to be really lean, so it couldn't have worked out better timing wise,” Mackie said when asked about his fitness. “I worked so hard to get my body in shape that I wanted to show it off. So I told Marvel I just wanted to be in spandex. But they decided that they wanted Falcon to be more of a military character, which I'm not complaining about, because my gear looks dope and I get to kick a lot of ass. Ever since I got in good shape, though, I'm all about spandex.

He was then asked if he had seen any footage for the film, “Yes, and it looks amazing. It's so much bigger than everyone thought it would be, and we're kicking a lot of ass. It's a lot of fun to be a part of, especially with Samuel L. Jackson, who's been my mentor for so many years.”

Rolling Stone then asked him if its rough having to hear about sequels second hand like many actors in the Marvel Universe tend to find out.

He replied saying, “It can be frustrating at times, because if you're not "in house" with them, if you're not one of the people making the vision and you have no way of knowing what's going on. It's kind of like a sports game – something great can happen at any moment. One day you'll get a call from Marvel that's like, "Hey, we need you in New Mexico right now for The Avengers 2." I'd ride a moped to that set if I had to. My friends keep saying, "you'll be doing these forever," but I don't know about that. If it works out, it works out. It's all very hush.”

DUMB AND DUMBER TO

After years and years of stagnation on the Dumb and Dumber sequel, production is finally underway, with the first images of Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back in character have been revealed by none other than Carrey himself.

The Farrelly brothers return to direct, the story picks up in Rhode Island 18 years after the events of the first film, and The Walking Dead’s Laurie Holden recently landed the female lead.

This past Sunday Jeff Daniels managed to win the Best Actor in a Drama series Emmy Award and now he returns to Dumber and Dumber.

"There are some things [that] we're going to do in 'Dumb and Dumber To' that make the toilet scene [in the original] seem lame”, he stated when speaking to E! after the awards. “It pales in comparison and I can't divulge what, but just that they've topped it. [The] best thing about it? I get to work with a comedic genius."

He will be returning ofcourse with Jim Carrey and Daniels is also starring alongside Rachel Melvin, Kathleen Turner, Brady Bluhm, Laurie Holden and Steve Tom.

GODS OF EGYPT

Gerard Butler is rumored to be eyeing a role in directors Alex Proyas, Gods of Egypt. Alex Proyas, the man behind I, Robot and The Crow, has been trying to develop a film based on the classic novel, Paradise Lost which told the story of Lucifer’s fall from heaven and his subsequent role in the Garden of Eve. Alas that has come to nought, as Proyas turns his attentions to the Gods of Egypt.

Geoffrey Rush is said to have signed onto the film, as he will be joining "Game of Thrones" actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (aka Jamie “Kingslayer” Lannister).

Proyas is directing from an original screenplay by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. The film tells the story of a common thief teaming with Gods on a magical quest. Coster-Waldau is playing Horus, God of the Sky, who teams with Hathor, the Goddess of Love, and the human thief to avenge the death of his father, Osiris.

Rush, who won an Academy Award for his role in Shine, will play Ra, the Egyptian sun God, who is father to both Set and Osiris.

NEED FOR SPEED

DreamWorks Pictures has released the first trailer for Need for Speed, starring Aaron Paul, Imogen Poots, Dominic Cooper, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, Harrison Gilbertson, Scott 'Kid Cudi' Mescudi, Michael Keaton and Dakota Johnson.

Opening in theaters on March 14, 2014, Need for Speed captures the thrills of the video game franchise in a real-world setting. The story chronicles a near-impossible cross-country race against time—one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption. In a last attempt to save his struggling garage, blue-collar mechanic Tobey Marshall (Paul)—who with his team skillfully builds and races muscle cars on the side—reluctantly partners with wealthy, arrogant ex-NASCAR driver Dino Brewster (Cooper). Just as a major sale to car broker Julia Bonet (Poots) looks like it will save the business, a disastrous, unsanctioned race results in Dino framing Tobey for manslaughter.

Two years later and fresh out of prison, Tobey is set on revenge with plans to take down Dino in the high-stakes De Leon race—the Super Bowl of underground racing. GOTHAM SERIES

Deadline reports that Fox will bring the Batman inspired Gotham series to TV. The show will see Commissioner Gordon working as a detective at the Gotham City Police Department before he even meets Batman. In an interesting note, the Caped Crusader is not intended to be part of the series. Also interesting to see Fox land the project, which might be an indication of its tone since it isn’t playing on The CW, a network that has found success with the DC property Arrow, and hopes to repeat with a Flash spin-off.

Fox has also made a series commitment for Gotham, scripted by Bruno Heller (The Mentalist).

The news comes as Fox won out on a bidding war for the Warner Bros. TV property.

My guess is that the TV series will be focused on Commissioners Gordon young days as Detective, long before Batman comes into the picture. Hopefully he will take down some memorable villains!

'Fast and Furious 7' is revving up and speeding into production with star Vin Diesel busily doing the promotional rounds for his latest 'Riddick'. After many rumours and reports of action icon Kurt Russell being a new addition to the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, Vin Diesel has just put his foot down and accelerated proceedings by declaring the rumours true.

Speaking to Extra, Diesel explained "There is a very big rumor that Kurt Russell will come in, and because it's you, I'll give you a little more… the eighth script in the series is somewhat akin to 'Escape from New York.' This won't make sense now, but it will make sense later. Kurt Russell was the perfect person to introduce in '7' to play out the eighth storyline that everyone is going to go crazy on."

Escape from New York features Russell as the one eyed anti hero Snake Plissken, an ex-soldier turned criminal who agrees to save the President of the USA when he crash lands in a future Manhattan island that is now a totally anarchic and impenetrable maximum security prison. With microscopic explosives injected into his body, Plissken is forced to cooperate and complete his mission.

"Game of Thrones" star Nathalie Emmanuel has joined the cast of Fast & Furious 7, which Universal Pictures will release in theaters on July 11, 2014.

Deadline says that, while her character description is staying under wraps, "Emmanuel will be part of the pedal to the metal team led by Dom Toretto, played by Vin Diesel."

THE ISLAND OF DR MOREAU

A new adaptation of H.G. Wells' classic sci-fi horror novel, The Island of Dr. Moreau, is in the works at Warner Bros. through Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way, Deadline reports.

Published in 1896, The Island of Dr/ Moreau follows shipwreck survivor Edward Prendick, who winds up on the mysterious Noble's Isle. There, the titular Moreau, a former London physiologist, has taken to experimenting on animals and, through vivisection, has created human-like beasts.

The new film would mark the sixth feature-length adaptation of Wells' story. The tale most was most recently brought to the big screen with a 1996 take directed by John Frankheimer with Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando in the leading roles.

LIFE

Director Anton Corbijn has snagged two leading men for his upcoming Life. The Wrap reports that both Dane DeHaan and Robert Pattinson are set to star.

Scripted by Luke Davies, Life is based on the true friendship formed between actor James Dean (DeHaan) and photojournalist Dennis Stock (Pattinson).

Pattinson, best known for his role as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga, can next be seen in David Michod's The Rover. DeHaan, meanwhile, soon stars in Kill Your Darlings before taking on the part of Harry Obsorn in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Production planned to begin in February 2014.

A SLIGHT TRICK OF THE HAND

Sir Ian McKellen (magneto) is teaming up with The Fifth Estate director Bill Condon on A Slight Trick of the Mind. Based on a novel of the same name by Mitch Cullin, the screenplay is being adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher. The story is described as follows:

In 1947, Sherlock Holmes, long retired, lives in a sleepy Sussex village with his housekeeper and her amateur-sleuthing son. But far from living out a peaceful retirement, he is haunted by an unsolved case from fifty years ago. He remembers only fragments: a confrontation with an angry husband, a secret bond with his beautiful but unstable wife.

Condon and McKellen previously worked together on Gods and Monsters.

AI Film CEO Aviv Giladi added: "Bill Condon and Ian McKellen are a perfect match for this clever and intriguing project, the third on our current production slate. The next few months will be exciting as we move closer to shooting with our producer partners Anne Carey and Iain Canning."

YOUR VOICES IN MY HEAD

Emma Watson will star in Francesca Gregorini's Your Voice in My Head, written by acclaimed novelist Emma Forrest and adapted from her New York Times Bestseller.

Watson was previously attached to star in the project when it was at Warner Bros. Pictures with "Harry Potter" director David Yates directing. Later, both Yates and Watson left the project and Emily Blunt was attached to star for a while.

Your Voice in My Head, whose script was awarded a position on the prestigious Black list, will start shooting on November 4, 2013 in New York and is based on Emma Forrest’s inspirational story of a young bipolar English woman living in New York and the heroic, selfless psychiatrist who saves her life while fighting for his own.

GRAVITY

Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity is grabbing headlines the world over as the film is yet to release and already its widely praised by critics with whispers of its Oscar worthiness.

James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar) had no reservations in calling Gravity “the best space film ever done” while praising not just the technical achievements, but the performance of Sandra Bullock.

Here’s what Cameron had to say in reaction to seeing Cuarón’s Gravity speaking to Variety:

“I was stunned, absolutely floored. I think it’s the best space photography ever done, I think it’s the best space film ever done, and it’s the movie I’ve been hungry to see for an awful long time … What is interesting is the human dimension. Alfonso and Sandra working together to create an absolutely seamless portrayal of a woman fighting for her life in zero gravity.”

He then went on to praise Bullocks performance in the film, saying:

“She’s the one that had to take on this unbelievable challenge to perform it. (It was) probably no less demanding than a Cirque du Soleil performer, from what I can see … There’s an art to that, to creating moments that seem spontaneous but are very highly rehearsed and choreographed. Not too many people can do it. … I think it’s really important for people in Hollywood to understand what was accomplished here.”

Gravity looks to be a visual spectacle, as James Cameron explains some of the technical aspects of filming:

“I read the script, and I thought it was tremendously challenging to shoot with a high degree of veracity to get the real look of zero gravity … I’m sure Alfonso had a real uphill battle with the studio, with everyone involved, to get it the way it needed to look. But he knew in his mind how it needed to look, and he went after it.”

Gravity, opens October 4^th in the US and the 18^th here in SA. Im really looking forward to this film and i think you should too!

TRANS4MERS

In an interview with Beijing News, Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura seemed to confirm the appearance of the Dinobots in the new Transformers film.

We then got further confirmation when the official poster for the film released as it is officially titled, Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Starring Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles and Bingbing Li, Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27, 2014.

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

A contingent of Fifty Shades of Grey fans are so upset over the casting of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson as protagonists Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, respectively, in the big screen adaptation of the BDSM bestseller that they have created an online petition demanding the roles be recast.

According to Variety, "many loyalists had set sights on White Collar’s Matt Bomer to play the troubled billionaire and Alexis Bledel of Gilmore Girls fame to play Steele, and started a Change.org petition in protest of the decision, which has received more than 7,000 signatures in less than 24 hours." It was up to roughly 12,000 signatures at the time of this article's publish.

FAST & FURIOUS 7

Hollywood veteran Kurt Russell is in talks to join the seventh installment of the Fast & Furious franchise in an undisclosed part for director James Wan (The Conjuring).

Role that Russel is in talks for was originally offered to Denzel Washington, who turned down the role, which looks to be a lot bigger, then many of thought.

Russell has a few more projects in the works including the Jay Baruchel-starring comedy The Art of the Steal, and Bone Tomahawk, a Western with Peter Sarsgaard and Jennifer Carpenter.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook) is set to voice the CG Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy. This is Cooper’s first venture into voiceover work.

He joins Chris Pratt, Benicio Del Toro, Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker and John C. Reilly in the cast, and Vin Diesel has been talking about coming on board to voice the tree-like Groot. Disney is set to release Guardians on August 1, 2014

A few days ago, the Internet exploded with the news that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel.

To say this news was divisive would really be understated as this news brought a wave of positive and extreme negative responses to this bit of news.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, talks began between Snyder, Warner Bros. and Affleck earlier this year. After completing work on Man of Steel, Snyder reportedly had an idea for a follow-up and the studio began to gauge interest from actors, including the rumored Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling. Affleck was open to the idea and began discussing the story and the character with Snyder and when he liked what he heard, negotiations began for him to appear.

Now this isn’t the first time that Affleck has been linked to the role. About a year ago DC announced their plans for a Justice League film, at the time Affleck was under consideration to not only play Batman in Justice League but to direct the film as well. I’m thinking that his casting in the Man of Steel sequel would be the first step towards that goal.

So while many people might not be looking forward to seeing Ben Affleck as Batman, a Justice League film directed by him will definitely have any fan excited.

The trade adds that Affleck will shoot Gone Girl from September until February, then shift to the Superman/Batman film from February to August (while doing pre-production on Live By Night), then tackle that film, a Prohibition gangster movie, as writer-director-star next September.

While many celebrities have been throwing in their 2cents on the casting, with Joss Whedon the Avengers director showing tremendous support for Affleck, there was always just going to be one’s mans voice that mattered on this matter, and that’s Matt Damon.

Speaking with the Times of India (via CS), Damon unsurprisingly had encouraging things to say about Affleck playing Batman:

“I think it will be great. It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the Internet. I just think it’s kind of funny. You know, he’s not playing King Lear. It’s Batman! Certainly within his skill set. If anybody saw Argo or The Town, and all the work he’s been doing lately, it’s way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman! Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kind of gruff voice at people. Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that.”

As for those that have suggested Damon play Robin to Affleck’s Batman, the actor laughed off the idea:

“I am a little older than Ben. I never saw Robin as older than Batman. Somebody sent me a picture actually (of his face photo shopped on Robin’s body and Ben’s on Batman’s). It was really funny. But it’s safe to say I won’t be Robin.”

Man of Steel's Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman in the film along with co-stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

David S. Goyer is scripting the new film from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan and Wesley Coller serving as executive producers. It is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2015.

Superman vs. Batman will be released on July 17, 2015.

X-FILES 3

X-Files fans have been clamoring for a third film in the series for a long time and every time the subject is brought up, the stars and creators always say they'd love to do it.

While the stars and creators of the show would love to have a 3^rd film that is not a decision they get to decide, but that still doesn’t stop Chris Carter from talking about it though.

In an interview with Empire he said, “I think all of us are interested in putting the band back together. I have an idea for a third movie in my head. The colonization date has passed and that is something we wouldn't ignore. For the second movie, we only had the budget for a standalone story, but we want to go back to the mythology."

Carter then went onto say that if the third film indeed receives the green light that he would like Simon Pegg to join the gang:

"Gillian [Anderson] worked with Simon Pegg on a movie and told me that he was a big fan. We actually thought about putting him in the second movie, but there was no part for him. I certainly would think about him if we were to go forward in any way."

SPAWN

After years and years of talk of a potential Spawn film, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane is talking and he says that a new take on his Image Comics antihero could be in front of cameras as early as next year.

“The thing that keeps slowing it down is that the negotiation I’ve done is I write, produce, direct,” McFarlane tells The Gate (via The Hollywood Reporter), “but I’ve got to push a lot of my other endeavors off to the side so I can just get tunnel vision on it. And so everybody at my company is now going, ‘We’ve got to find Todd the time to finish all this.’”

He goes on to say that the film is looking at a 60-70 day shoot and reiterates his previous claims that the project will differ greatly from big screen version released by New Line Cinema in 1997.

“It’s not going to be a giant budget [film] with a lot of special effects,” he says. “It’s going to be more of a horror movie and a thriller movie, not a superhero one.”

“Spawn,” which launched as a solo-series in 1992, follows the adventures of Al Simmons, an assassin who, after being murdered, returns to the world as a Hellspawn, a demonic undead creature powered by necroplasm.

FAST AND FURIOUS 7

Tony Jaa

While the world was still in recover mode after the big Batman Affleck announcement, the following day it was announced that Tony Jaa would be joining James Wan’s Fast and Furious 7.

Tony Jaa is the star of the Ong Bak series as well as The Protector, although this will mark his first Hollywood film, Jaa has gained International recognition for some of the most mesmerizing fight and stunt scenes. He was previously linked for potential roles in Live Free and Die Hard and Rush Hour 3, but it looks certain that he will be making his debut in Fast and Furious 7.

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Jaa would join Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson and MMA Champion Ronda Rousey who just signed onto the film herself, with many more franchise favorites expected to be confirmed in the days to come.

While FF6 proved to be action orgy, it might have lead to many believing that the Fast and Furious franchise running out of steam, but with actors such as Statham and Jaa joining the franchise it seems the franchise still has quite the punch!

THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY

The second installment in the Hunger Games franchise, Catching Fire, will be releasing on November 23^rd later this year, but it would seem the studio has its eyes on the future as three new stars join the cast of the film series as the third film gets ready to start shooting in just 3 weeks time!

Stef Dawson has been cast as Annie Cresta, Finnick’s (played by Sam Claflin) love interest, in the final two chapters of the Hunger Games series, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.

While, Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones) has officially signed on to plays the role of Cressida in both The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2. Book fans will remember Cressida as the film director who, along with Castor, Pollux, and Messalla, flees The Capitol to join the rebellion and ends up taking her camera crew on a journey to follow Katniss and get footage of the uprising.

Evan Ross on the other hand, is set to play Messalla, Cressida's (Natalie Dormer) cameraman, in the final in the final two chapters of the Hunger Games series, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.

Both those films will be directed by Francis Lawrence, which based on the novel by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay follow Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) journey as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol. As the war that will determine the fate of Panem escalates, Katniss must decipher for herself whom she can trust and what needs to be done, with everything she cares for in the balance.

Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland and Julianne Moore are slated to star with the first part hitting November 21, 2014 and the final film arriving November 20, 2015.

Filming is set to begin in just a few weeks in Georgia.

While Catching Fire releases on November 23^rd later this year.

Entertainment One (eOne) announced that it has firmed up a co-development pact with Avi Lerner (Rambo, The Expendables) and Nu Image to develop and produce a television series based on Rambo.

The parties are currently in negotiations with Sylvester Stallone to be involved with the project on a creative level as well as potentially reprise his iconic role as the original Rambo.

Rambo is a cult classic series of movies and an epic feature film character starring Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo. Based on the David Morell novel "First Blood," the film is about a troubled Vietnam War veteran and former Green Beret who is skilled in many aspects of survival, weaponry, hand to hand combat and guerrilla warfare. The series consists of the films First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III and Rambo.

Under their exclusive option arrangement, the partners will collectively develop the series and shop it to broadcasters in the US and internationally.

In a press release, John Morayniss, the CEO of eOne Television said, “Rambo fans cover all demographics and we’re confident that we’ll quickly find this series a home.”

Entertainment Weekly has just debuted the cover to their next issue and it features none other than Joss Whedon and "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." stars Chloe Bennet and Clark Gregg. In the issue, EW says Whedon talks about all things "Buffy," "Firefly," and The Avengers, but he made time to drop an interesting quote about the upcoming TV series too.

“This is basically a TV series of ‘The Zeppo’ [episode of Buffy], which was a very deliberate deconstruction of a Buffy episode in order to star the person who mattered the least,” Whedon says. “The people who are ignored are the people I’ve been writing as my heroes from day one. There’s a world of superheroes and superstars, they’re celebrities, and that’s a complicated world — particularly complicated for people who don’t have the superpowers, the disenfranchised. Now obviously there’s going to be hijinks and hilarity and sex and gadgets and all the things that made people buy the comics. But that’s what the show really is about to me, and that’s what Clark Gregg embodies: the Everyman.”

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will premiere on ABC in the USA on September 24.

AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON

Marvel is still on the hunt for their Scarlet Witch for the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron and Bleeding Cool is reporting that Elizabeth Olsen has become the frontrunner. Previously, actress Saoirse Ronan was rumored for the role, but she has reportedly passed on it.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass) has been rumored too be playing Scarlet Witch brother, Quicksilver, however that remains to be confirmed. Although the Kick-Ass star has been talking about the character in great length , leading many to believe that he will indeed be suiting up for the Avengers sequel.

Elizabeth Olsen can be seen next in Spike Lee's Oldboy this November and then Gareth Edwards' Godzilla reboot (also starring Taylor-Johnson) in May 2014.

FOCUS

Rodrigo Santoro is set to play the antagonist in Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming Focus. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the 300 star will appear opposite Will Smith and Margot Robbie in the con artist tale from writer-directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love.)

The film is said to involve a romance between a professional conman and someone just learning the criminal art and how their past relationship comes back into play when they meet up again years later. Santoro's part is said to be that of the owner of a Formula One racing team who enlists Smith's character's services and enters them both into a romantic triangle with Robbie's.

Earlier iterations of the project were planning to feature the pairings of both Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone and, later, Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart in the leading roles.

CHAPPIE

Elysium has hit theaters in the US recently and will soon becoming to cinemas right here in SA, but director Neil Blomkamp already has his eye on his next feature film, called Chappie.

Sony Pictures has announced Blomkamp will begin filming this October. As well as Directing, Blomkamp has written the screenplay with Terri Tatchell and will be producing alongside Simon Kinberg.

Chappie tells the story of a robot imbued with artificial intelligence who is stolen by two local gangsters who want to use him for their own nefarious purposes.

The film will star Sharlto Copley as the voice of Chappie, with Ninja and Yolandi Visser, rap-rave duo Die Antwoord, as the two gangsters.

VIN DIESEL ON MARVEL AND SCI-FI

Last Sunday Vin posted a pic of Groot, a member of Guardians of the Galaxy up on his Facebook page, since the film is already filming and the voice of Groot hasn’t been confirmed, many fans took this as confirmation that Vin Diesel would be the voice of Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy film.

Diesel spoke with The L.A. Times about the role and his ongoing social media presence.

"I’m an actor," the Furious Six star tells the outlet. "Not everything has to be the most obvious choice. And sometimes, the best thing you can do — as far as Steven Spielberg and his advice — is to defy expectations. So if everybody thinks you’re going to go for this one thing and you flip it entirely and go for the strangest Marvel character, it’s interesting. And when something is interesting, it’s inspiring."

Diesel goes on to explain that, while fans speculated that Marvel Studios might not be happy with his social media teases, the reality is rather different.

"The last thing they are is mad," he says. "I’m pretty open, but I have been secretive about this. I went to Comic-Con and I got blasted while I was on the Hall H panel for 'Riddick.' Someone asked a Marvel question. I couldn’t say anything because of that secrecy."

Fans have been speculating for months, who Vin might be playing within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and even now many believe that he could in fact be voicing Rocket Raccoon! Thee most badass Raccoon who will ever see!

Guardians of the Galaxy, which also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly and Glenn Close, is now shooting, targeting an August 1, 2014 release.

In other Vin Diesel news, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Vin is now set to lead Soldiers of the Sun, an original spec script from Arash Amel (Grace of Monaco) designed to become a potential series at Universal Pictures.

Set in a post-apocalyptic future, Soldiers of the Sun follows a group of soldiers who do battle with Orcs (said to be an alien race) as they search for a legendary city of gold in Mexico.

Universal is also home to Diesel's similarly ensemble-fueled The Fast & the Furious franchise. The seventh film in the record-breaking franchise is being directed by James Wan (The Conjuring) and will hit theaters July 11, 2014.

EXPENDABLES 3

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas will appear in Expendables 3. Gibson will indeed be playing the villain of the film, as it was speculated for a couple of months, while Banderas role hasn’t been confirmed.

Glen Powell has also been confirmed for a role in the film. He'll play a military hacker and drone expert in the ensemble sequel.

The cast currently includes Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Kellan Lutz, Victor Ortiz and Ronda Rousey. Ronda by the way, has signed on Expendables 3 as well as Fast and Furious 7 both films will be filming soon, so it will be a hectic few months for the UFC champion.

The film set to shoot soon in Los Angeles, rumored additional cast members have been said to include Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich, although none have been, as of yet, confirmed.

Both Banderas and Gibson will also appear in Machete Kills, which will be released on October 11.

The Expendables 3 will be directed by Patrick Hughes and is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 15, 2014.

THE FUTURE OF MARVEL… THAT THOR TRAILER!

Since their beginning Marvel has always looked to the future to plan what comes next even before their present obligations have been fully realized.

We already know that there will be Two Marvel films in 2016 and one in 2017, yet there still no word on what those films might be. Nevertheless Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige says they've got things mapped out even further down the road.

"I could arguably say what we're planning for the year 2021," Feige told WIRED. "Will that happen? I don't know. But what we planned for 2015 in 2006 is happening." Marvel's 2015 plans include Avengers: Age of Ultron and the long awaited Ant-Man feature.

Feige also teased further expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with future films. "Five years ago, looking at our plan, we knew that if Avengers was going to work, the movies had to stand alone," he says. "Now we have to prove to the studio that we're more than just these five characters, these five franchises."

It has been hinted in the past that Marvel has plans for new characters in Phase Three like Doctor Strange and The Black Panther, while many fans have been eagerly waiting to hear Marvel announce a Captain Marvel and Heroes for Hire feature.

WHATS NEXT FOR LEONARDO DICAPRIO

Leonardo DiCaprio is set to produce and potentially star in King Harald, a historical biopic about Harald Hardrada, the 11th century Viking king.

DiCaprio, who recently appeared in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained and Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, reteamed with Martin Scorsese for The Wolf of Wall Street, which would be releasing a little later this year.

Leonardo DiCaprio has also been said to be in talks for a live-action, Hollywood adaptation of Robotech. Latino Review reports that Leo turned down a role in Star Wars: Episode 7 to potentially star in this Robotech adaption.

This certainly isn’t the first time that Leonardo has been linked to an anime adaption, as he has been in talks to produce Ninja Scroll as well as produce and potentially star in an Akira adaption, in the past.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

"Brightest set I've ever filmed on," Singer tweets, following with the hashtags, "#3600framespersecond #Quicksilver"

It appears that, to capture Evan Peters' (aka Quicksilver) turn as the fast-moving son of Magneto, Singer is capturing footage in extreme slow motion. The end result of 3600 frames per second will appear 150 times slower than standard film and, as such, requires significantly more lighting to expose each frame. Although it's hard to see exactly what he's filming, you can check the basic setup in Singer's image below.

Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart also star in the mutant ensemble, set for release July 18, 2014.

EXPENDABLES 3

Stallone tweeted recently that Harrison Ford would be making his debut in the latest Expendable film, with Bruce Willis exiting the franchise.

Stallone stated that he has “been waiting years for this” re: working with Ford

Stallone followed the news up with a tweet that appears to be aimed squarely at Willis: “GREEDY AND LAZY... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE.”

Red Hill director Patrick Hughes is poised to direct the sequel with a cast that includes Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, Wesley Snipes, Kellan Lutz, and Milla Jovovich. There have been rumours that Mel Gibson will be playing the villain, but nothing has come of that as yet.

Production on Expendables 3 should begin later this year or early next year, as the film is slated for release on August 15, 2014.

THE WOLVERINE

Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) was originally supposed to helm the latest Wolverine adventure, alas he passed on the film and as a result James Mangold took the reigns.

The latest roundup of the hottest news to come out over the last couple of Days!

AVENGERS

The Avengers Age of Ultron will be coming to us in 2015 which means 2015 will be one awesome year for movie, and comic book fans alike.

Joss Whedon recently confirmed that Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch would be in the $1.5Billion dollar sequel, but with another chick added to the mix what would happen to the red haired assassin Black Widow?

Whedon recently spoke with Nerd HQ (via MTV) and revealed that Scarlett Johansson would have a lot to play with this time around:

“Natasha is a huge part of the sequel because you do want to concentrate on the people who don’t have their own franchises. Although she in Cap 2, [and] she’s great. She was the most fun for me because she’s not a hero, you know, and it’s something that I read—and I feel bad that I can’t remember who wrote the book—but it’s in one of the books explaining, ‘These guys are heroes, you are a spy. It’s a different thing—it’s a different skill set—and you don’t have their moral high ground or any of that good stuff.’ And that just makes her so interesting to me. So yeah, the stuff I’ve got going on with her in the second one is killer.”

Whedon also revealed that Jeremy Renner would be getting a lot more screen time as Hawkeye, as this time Whedon looks to have a lot more fun scripting the character.

In a different interview, this time with Total Film, Whedon spoke a little about ULTRON:

“I was pitching Ultron before I took the job on the first movie. I was like, ‘I don’t know if I want to do this, but for the second one, you should totally do Ultron.’ Because he’s been a thorn in their side as much as any other character over the years and particularly back in my history.

He was great. He’s somebody who can juice things up and he’s a real problem for the Avengers. That’s not always easy to find. It’s not like the Vulture is really going to give them a hard time for 20 minutes.”

So we all know that Quicksilver will be in Avengers 2,what we also know is that Aaron Johnson is being considered for the role, speaking with Collider, the Kick-Ass star confirmed that he'd been approached for the role and found it to be an "interesting" proposition.

"I feel really flattered and honoured that they came to me for that role," he said. "I think he’s an interesting character and we’re just going to keep going into that. I sat down with Joss, I think he’s awesome, I sat down with the guys at Marvel and they’re also great; I think it’d be interesting."

So there you have it! You got to wait a little while longer for more on Marvel!

BUTTERFLY EFFECT

In Dumbest news for the week, it looks like there will be a another Butterfly Effect film, and not its not a sequel, it’s a remake… I wish I were joking.

This is where it really gets depressing, Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber who wrote the original script, Variety is reporting that Bress is on board to script the reboot. So yes the original writer is writing a new version of the same story he got to put on the big screen 10 years ago. Talk about a one trick pony!

There’s no director attached at this point, and hopefully there will never be.

BEVERLY HILLS COP 4

Recently the Beverly Hills Cop TV series pilot was rejected, meaning the show would never be developed to play on TV for a full season unless some other network decided to pick it up!

That unfortunately did not happen but what did happen is quite fortunate and really bizarre.

Deadline reports that Murphy’s performance “had people talking”, so naturally, Paramount is now developing a 4^th Beverly Hills Cop TV series with Josh Appelbaum & Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) writing the script.

Guess it all worked out in the end!

X-FORCE

So just before the start of San Diego Comic Con news broke that an X-Force film is in development, my heart jumped out of my chest with pure excitement!

Since then we haven’t gotten much news about anything concerning the film really. Until recently, when Jeff Wadlow, director of KICK ASS 2, shared some of his thoughts:

"What ‘X-Force’ is – the way I talk about ‘X-Force’ is… ‘X-Men’ is about mutants, and not all the mutants get into the mansion. So I’m curious to tell a story about the mutants who don’t make it into the mansion."

He was then asked about who his favorite characters are in X-Force,

"Look, I’m a huge Deadpool fan, who doesn’t love Wolverine – but obviously Cable is an iconic character we haven’t seen onscreen yet. I love Psylocke, Domino is an amazing character – it’s a long list of characters that have appeared in ‘X-Force’ – Colossus is in the current lineup… There’s a lot of really exciting characters that you can use in ‘X-Force’ that have been in other movies, that haven’t shown up, or maybe there’s ways to re-imagine them, even though they might’ve shown up in other films."

My Personal line up includes CABLE, DOMINO, PSYLOCK, FANTOMEX and of course DEADPOOL! So far it looks like I’m 4/5, Colossus would be pretty cool if his in the film though, hopefully Daniel Cudmore gets to do a whole lot more then he ever did in the Original Trilogy!

THE DREAM ITS REAL

When Avengers released we all shared the opinion that DC has fallen behind as Marvel was at full sprint building a shared universe of epic proportions.

This past weekend Marvel, Fox and DC had panels at Comic Con to showcase their latest projects and after 4, maybe 5 years of Marvel stealing the spotlight at Comic Con, DC and Fox Studios came flying out at full steam with their latest projects, Superman & Batman film, and X-Men: Days of Future Past, respectively.

Truthfully Marvel have nothing to fear, they have a SHIELD TV series that will be making its way to the small screen pretty soon, Thor: The Dark World will be releasing in November, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is constantly being touted as one of Marvel’s finest work, while Guardians of the Galaxy just looks like it will be some awesome crazy Sci-Fi fun.

The one big surprise that Marvel had was the announcement of the title for Avengers 2, now titled Avengers: Age of Ultron. Which was a pretty big deal confirming that the next story would feature Ultron as the main villain, with Vin Diesel possibly playing Ultron or Vision (if they decide to go that route).

Ultron also hints at a possible appearance for Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, aka Ant-Man and Wasp, but we will have to wait and see if they will be in the film and if they will possibly suit up.

The other big surprise Marvel had was Tom Hiddleston coming to greet the Hall H crowd as Loki, in his full costume and character, which was pretty cool.

Fox on the other hand surprised the crowds by having a panel with the almost the entire cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past, which included……

Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Evan Peters and Director Bryan Singer.

With an impressive cast like that, Days of Future Past could well be on its way to beating the Avengers and from the description that we read of the footage it could well be that Days of Future Past will be an instant classic! This was by the best Panel for fans and offered many surprises and was incredibly fun, you can catch footage of the panel on YouTube!

The Cast of First Class, Original Trilogy and the New X-men all in X-Men: Days of Future Past

Now onto the announcement that stole headlines all over the world, Zack Snyder announcing that the next Man of Steel film, will indeed feature Batman to finally put THE WORLDS FINEST on the big screen together!

This is an incredible decision by Snyder and Warner Bros. as they essentially just announced a Billion Dollar hit.

While this will not be the Batman from the Nolanverse, Nolan still keeping his name on the credits as an executive producer ensures us that Nolan has given Snyder his blessing for the most part!

This is an incredible move by Snyder will certainly have the world buzzing, for the simple reason that this is what people have been waiting since Superman made his way to the big screen in the 70’s. This is an event film by itself, with record breaking potential.

Henry Cavill as Man of Steel

Even though it wont be Nolan’s Batman, Batman is still a hot property, we have just witnessed one of the finest versions of Bruce that we will probably ever see, meaning that people could potentially be open to a new Batman as this time his first appearance will be with Superman instead of on his own. However, while The Dark Knight Trilogy was grounded in a pseudo reality that was made to mirror ours, this new Batman can take on some of those unwieldy aspects that wouldn’t work in Nolan’s films. We might get the detective, genius that we come to know Batman is in the comics.

We also know that Lex will probably be making an appearance, we also know that this film might bringing in Kryptonite and we also know that this film is drawing inspiration from The Dark Knight Returns, a comic written by Frank Miller. It tells the story of Bats coming out retirement to clean up the city, but his methods don’t go down well with Superman, and the two entire a battle of epic proportions.

We could see the film take a similar route, I for one think that we will see Lex publicly voice his concerns about Superman while Bruce publicly voices his approval of Superman, placing these two billionaires at each others throats, however as Batman, Bruce shares the same concerns that Lex brings up.

Who knows Batman might have been crusading in Gotham before Superman made his public appearance; Batman could even be the one investigating all these “Special” people from around the world. Batman might create profiles on all these heroes, who will eventually become the Justice League! I’m just saying!!

So while marvel resisting the urge to do team up films, as they want to prove that there characters are just as interesting on their own as when they are in a big ensemble film, DC looks like they may have a lot more fun building their Cinematic Universe, as THE WORLDS FINEST will prove.

Who knows maybe we get a Green Arrow & Green Lantern crossover film, The Trinity (Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman) and Teen Titans somewhere down the line. Who knows we will just have to wait and see.

All I know, DC is well on there way to make something that will be truly epic every step of the way, if Man of Steel is anything to go on by!

Last week saw the announcement that actor Tom Cruise was bowing out of the upcoming reboot of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. in favor of focusing on Mission: Impossible 5, which he will produce and star in. Now Variety is reporting that Man of Steel star Henry Cavill is in talks to take on the role of Napoleon Solo.

Should he sign on, Cavill will join Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander in the project. Guy Richie will direct the film from a script by Scott Z. Burns and Max Borenstein.

In a previous interview with ComingSoon.net, screenwriter Scott Z. Burns talked about setting the film in the 1960's.

"I thought it would be really fun to go back and look at spycraft in the Cold War and what you could and couldn't do," he said. "When you think about the world in the 1960's just in terms of cars and fashion and the aesthetic, to be able to go and shoot that world with today's cameras and today's technology, I think we could do some really cool stuff. Then also, the thing that was so cool about 'U.N.C.L.E.' that people don't realize--and this is why I like it more than 'Mission: Impossible'--the initial conceit of 'U.N.C.L.E.' was amazing. It was really about an organization that didn't have an affiliation with a country and Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin were guys who should've been sworn enemies. One was Russian and one was American and they worked together. In that way, it was a really incredibly progressive, hopeful kind of show."

The Wrap is also reporting that comedian T.J. Miller has joined the cast of the sci-fi action adventure. He'll play a mechanic friend of Mark Wahlberg's character, also starring opposite Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles and Li Bingbing in the June 27, 2014 release.

Although the plot of sequel is still top secret, Bay recently teased to ComingSoon.net that it would involve a "Chase from Hell."

Miller is known for big screen roles in films like Cloverfield, She's Out of My League and, as a voice, in How to Train Your Dragon.

Josh Brolin is the latest addition to the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice. Deadline reports that he'll be starring in an undisclosed role alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon and, likely, Sean Penn in the big screen adaptation of Thomas Pynchon's 2009 novel, which is officially described as follows:

Part noir, part psychedelic romp, all Thomas Pynchon- private eye Doc Sportello surfaces, occasionally, out of a marijuana haze to watch the end of an era.

In this lively yarn, Thomas Pynchon, working in an unaccustomed genre that is at once exciting and accessible, provides a classic illustration of the principle that if you can remember the sixties, you weren't there.

It's been a while since Doc Sportello has seen his ex- girlfriend. Suddenly she shows up with a story about a plot to kidnap a billionaire land developer whom she just happens to be in love with. It's the tail end of the psychedelic sixties in L.A., and Doc knows that "love" is another of those words going around at the moment, like "trip" or "groovy," except that this one usually leads to trouble.

Brolin recently starred in Ruben Fleischer's Gangster Squad and can be seen coming up in Spike Lee's Oldboy, Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Jason Reitman's Labor Day.

Warner Bros. has released two new images from the film Pacific Rim: Check out the images below.

Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on July 12, the film stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Brad William Henke and Diego Klattenhoff.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
