English actress Kate Beckinsale has vowed to keep her clothes on in movies because she remembers how terrible she felt as a child when her mother bared all onscreen.

According to contactmusic.com, the movie star has no plans to put her own daughter Lily through the humiliation she suffered at the hands of cruel schoolmates.

She was taunted when her mother Judy Loe stripped for TV in Britain.

"The mortification of going to school! People said, 'I've seen your mother naked.' I literally had to beat up nine of them," Beckinsale recalled.

Pop diva Madonna's current Sticky & Sweet world tour is set to rake in $282 million (185.7 million pounds), making it the biggest-selling solo jaunt ever.

The tour kicked off in Cardiff, Wales August this year and the run is due to end in Sao Paulo, Brazil later this month, reports contactmusic.com.

Madonna held a previous record of $193.7 million (127.5 million pounds) with her Confessions tour in 2006.

New Delhi, Nov 27 (IANS) Five years into Bollywood, Britain-born actress Katrina Kaif is proud that she could prove wrong all those people who wrote her off during her initial days in the industry. She is one of the few actresses who can boast of giving six hits in a row.

"When I started, people were not only writing me off for my strong British accent, there were many others who tried to prevent me from making it till here," Katrina told IANS in an interview here.

"They didn't do so in an aggressive or excessive manner, but they used to say things like 'I don't know...' and 'I'm not sure...' that would suggest a not-so-positive approach towards me. But I proved myself ultimately.

"I always try and push myself to exceed expectations. I use this ideology in a positive way," she explained.

Katrina was emphatic when she spoke of her belief in destiny.

"The great thing about life is that you never know what can happen and there's no limitation to it. Someone can tell you that you can never be this and never be that. It's not true. Anyone can be what he wants to be and destiny plays a major part in it. God has of course been very kind to me.

"I believe that everyone should try and live their dreams, follow them and they might just come true someday," Katrina said.

From her disastrous debut with "Boom" in 2003 to five hits in a row in 2007, the 24-year-old has not only worked hard on her acting skills, she has also shown a marked improvement in her Hindi dialogue delivery.

Commenting on her improved accent, Katrina - born of a Kashmiri father and a British mother - said: "Interacting with various people on and off the sets and doing some eight Hindi movies, dealing with Hindi scripts, practising dialogue delivery ... I think that in itself has taught me and helped me improve my accent."

Katrina is in the news nowadays for having delivered one box office dud "Yuvvraaj" after delivering six back-to-back hits including "Namastey London", "Apne", "Partner', "Welcome", "Race" and "Singh Is Kinng".

After so many hits, she was tagged as a lucky mascot for producers by trade pundits, but the actress is not pleased with the "lucky" label.

"'Lucky mascot' doesn't make any sense. It is such an illogical statement. A successful film is a combination of a good director, good music, intelligent script, good timing, destiny, everybody's efforts and audience's reaction. There isn't a reason or an explanation that you can tag a person as lucky," she remarked.

In her career, Katrina has predominantly dabbled in comedies, but she has lately "felt the need to progress a bit" and try her hand at different things.

"If you see Akshay Kumar, he was an action hero and then he went to comedy and found out his real calling. It took him to new heights of superstardom. I think it is important to take risks and figure out what really suits you.

"Every actor has a strength like Aamir does romance and Akshay does comedy, but I don't know my strength yet.

"If I get a contrast role in one film like where one get-up has me play a simple, shy and homely girl, the other has me as a brass and loud girl, I would definitely do that," she said in an excited tone.

As of now, Katrina has a number of films in her kitty.

She is doing two films with Ranbir Kapoor including "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani" by Rajkumar Santoshi. She is also working with Prakash Jha on his multi-starrer "Rajniti".

These apart, she has one comedy film in hand and a two-film deal each with UTV and TV 18 respectively.

Sanjay Dutt trapped in a landslide in Manali, returns without shooting

In his first full-on action schedule in a long time, Sanjay Dutt got together with action directors Javed-Ejaaz in Manali for some serious stunts including hand-to-hand combat. In the process he aggravated a shoulder injury, which would now have o be looked into immediately when Dutt returns to Mumbai.

But the worst blow was delivered by Nature when torrential rain caused a landslide and stopped short Dutt's dreams of doing devilish derringdo in the stunning expanse of the Rohtang Pass.

It was a harrowing end to a spectacular schedule devoted to rough action scenes. On Tuesday, the cast and crew of Rahul Dholakia's Lamhaa were to shoot some truly complicated action sequences at the breathtaking Rohtang Pass.

On Tuesday producer Bunty Walia said, "We didn't shoot at Rohtang Pass. We've packed up in Manali. We'll return to Mumbai on November 20 and start shooting in Film City from November 24. It was a very frustrating experience. We drove through the most impossible roadway because this was the last day of the schedule and there was no way we could delay. Sanju had to get back. We had to encounter the most nightmarish weather. If we didn't turn back, we'd face the danger of a serious road accident."

The crew would have liked to plod on. But a landslide blocking the way to Rohtang Pass left the Lamhaa crew with no choice but to turn back.

And now the remaining action scenes will have to be shot in Kashmir when the crew returns in January after the elections

Madonna and Guy Ritchie get divorce

Pop queen Madonna's split with her director husband Guy Ritchie got the legal stamp today after the High Court here granted them a preliminary divorce.

Madonna and Ritchie did not attend the hearing.

The "decree nisi" was pronounced by District Judge Caroline Reid after the couple agreed not to demand a financial settlement from each other, the Telegraph reported.

The divorce will become final after a period of six weeks and a day.

Their case - Ciccone M L v Ritchie G S - was listed before District Judge Reid and was announced in Court 10 of the Principal Registry of the High Court's Family Division, the paper said.

The 50-year-old singer and her 40-year-old British filmmaker husband had announced their decision to separate in mid-October after a marriage of eight-years.

The duo had married in a lavish ceremony in 2001.

Madonna will keep most of her USD 440 million fortune after Ritchie said he did not want "any of her money".

They have also agreed to share custody of their two boys, eight-year-old Rocco and three-year-old adopted David Banda.

Under the British law, Ritchie, whose fortune is estimated at some 30 million pounds, could have claimed to half of Madonna's wealth earned during their seven and a half year marriage but he reportedly rejected the offer.

The bone of contention between the high profile couple were their two children, with both of them wanting to keep the children.

Is Dil Raju missing his Midas Touch?

Dil Raju, who prefers not be called a producer with the Midas Touch in the film industry, believes that it was his judgment power alone that makes him successful at his business deals.

Of late, he had developed a scare, looking at the business of the film Yuvatha, starring Happy Days hero Nikhil, which he took up through his production house. Though he predicted that the film would draw huge youthful crowds, it didn't happen.

However, with reports saying that the film is gradually picking up with the mass sections, he is said to have heaved a sigh of relief. Though 'Yuvatha' has not let him down completely, it did give him a jolt.

Surya s/o Krishnan, also taken by Dil Raju for Nizam area, is battling at the box office. However, reports say that the flick is doing considerably good in the Ceded area, particularly Tirupati and Nellore, where the crowds are used to watching Tamil and the dubbed films with encouraging levels of response.

Ram Charan Teja's latest film in the direction of SS Raja Mouli is under brisk shooting schedules at Ramoji Film City.

Produced by Allu Arvind on their home banner Geeta Arts, the flick generated a lot of heat in the industry and at the business circles too. Interestingly, the unit registered a case with the Hayath Nagar police in the RR district limits a couple of days ago that some reels pertaining to the film went missing at the RFC.

Some security personnel and the film unit members launched a hectic search all over the sprawling premises to recover the reels, but in vain. A few days ago, some photographs and small video clips got leaked into the internet as was in the case of Pawan Kalyan's Jalsa.

In this regard, some of the unit members observed that it could be a ploy on the part of the producers to create hype as was alleged in the case of Jalsa which witnessed piracy of three songs even before the audio was released.

Angelina Jolie, who loves running around after her six kids, has revealed that sometimes she wears ‘pee soaked’ dresses on the red carpet!

The Academy Award-winner said that there had been times when she has had to handle her career and family at the same time and in the process been peed upon while rushing for a big night, reports China Daily.

She said: “The only time fame and family life ever collides is if, you know, we're trying to get ready for some event where we have to walk a carpet and somebody gets peed on, and figures, 'Oh well, I guess we'll be wearing that this evening.’”

The Changeling actress, who recently admitted she’d love to add more kids to the family, further insisted that despite not being married, both she and Brad felt they haven’t missed out anything.

Indian Ocean to compose music for Aamir Khan venture

Popular band Indian Ocean, which changed the course of contemporary fusion music in India with its album Kandisa, has been experimenting with Bollywood music and its latest project is a film being produced by Aamir Khan.

"We are composing three songs for a film which is being directed by a newcomer, Anusha, and will be produced by Aamir Khan," said Amit Kilam, the group's drummer.

After receiving rave reviews for its unique style of music, Indian Ocean entered Bollywood with Anurag Kashyap's controversial film Black Friday.

Even though the music was completely out of the league and unusual, it was highly appreciated, especially the song Bande.

The group is also composing music for Mumbai Cutting and Bhoomi.

"Mumbai Cutting is a compilation of 12 short films on Mumbai and we have done one song for Anurag Kashyap's short film," Kilam said.

"We are also composing music for a new film Bhoomi currently under production. We are supposed to compose six songs for the film," he added.

Rahul Ram anchors Indian Ocean along with Sushmit Sen on the guitars. While Asheem Chakraborty plays the tabla, the versatile Kilam accompanies on the drums and many other forms of percussion as well as vocals.

Kilam said it was a good time to create music in Bollywood as it was going through a transitional phase and becoming more open to unconventional tunes.

"Bollywood is opening doors and using different sorts of music a lot more than before," he said. "Since the reach of the industry is tremendous, when Hindi films use composers like us or other young bands and young singers, then the kind of music we create has a bigger chance to reach out to more people," Kilam added.

The band was in the capital to perform at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).

Indian Ocean's genesis dates back to 1990 when it came out with its first album. In 18 years, it has brought out four albums - Indian Ocean, Desert Rain, Kandisa and Jhini.

The band has also performed in London, at the New Zealand Arts Festival, Melbourne Arts Festival, Smithsonian Folk Life Festival (Washington), Tokyo, Indonesia, Germany, Singapore, Italy and Dubai.

"We don't feel a lot of difference when we perform in India and when we perform abroad. It's only that the audience size is a little smaller in the west because everything is organised to accommodate a set number of people. In India the number is much more," Kilam said.

Indian Ocean is known for their amalgamation of rural, urban, world and classical music.

But what is their genre?

"We don't want to confine our music to a particular genre. We don't know what our music is. And we don't want to say what it is. Instead of calling our music something else we prefer to name it Indian Ocean Music," said band member Sushmit Sen.

Mantra producers making Dairy

The film Mantra with Charmi and Sivaji was a runaway thrilling hit last year. The producer of that film C Kalyan Ram is now making a film titled Dairy under tha banner of Gen Next Movies.

Sivaji plays the male lead in this film. Bollywood’s Masami Udeshi makes her debut with this film. The other female lead is played by Shradda Das.

Dairy is also a thriller like Mantra. This film will be directed by Manchakanti Ramakrishna. The muhurt of this film was held today at Ramanaidu Studios. The regular shooting will commence soon.

Sharmila helps daughter Soha with Bengali dialogues

Having done two Bengali films, Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan still gets her mother, veteran actress, Sharmila Tagore to speak the dialogues for her to get the Bengali accent right.

“I can't speak Bengali at all but I can understand it. It's difficult because I have had to memorise my lines with much more effort. It's a lot more work than required in Hindi and English films,” said Soha.

“I get my mother to say all of my dialogues and I record them and listen to them later to better my accent,” she added.

The actress was seen in Anjan Das's Iti Srikanta and in Rituparno Ghosh's Antar Mahal. She is now doing another Bengali project with Aparna Sen.

“I'm doing Goinar Baksho (The Jewellery Box) with Aparna ji. It's a film that we have been planning to make since a long time and finally the dates and stuff have been decided. I'm really excited, it's a lovely script,” Soha said.

Moss fights with boyfriend over vial of blood

Supermodel Kate Moss had a fight with her boyfriend Jamie Hince when she found out that he had kept a vial of his ex-girlfriend's blood as a memento.

Moss fought with Hince after she found some love letters and the little bottle of blood from Sharin Foo, lead singer of the band Raveonettes, reports thesun.co.uk.

"He was obsessed with Sharin and kept the vial and letters. It wasn't like he used to get them out and read them all the time. He could just never bring himself to throw them away. But now Kate's found them and she's gone through the roof. She has demanded to know why Jamie had all these reminders of a past relationship," said a close friend of Hince.

Those who are close to the couple say that Moss has always been uncomfortable with Foo, who Hince dated in 2004.

"Jamie has always been a romantic, when he falls for someone he's completely engrossed. The Kills used to tour a lot with the Raveonettes and there was an instant spark between Sharin and Jamie. Once they were on the same bill at a gig in London and it was like there was nobody else in the room but Sharin.

Adah Sharma shoots in UK for Vikram Bhatt's Phir

Few actresses enjoy the kind of success Adah Sharma saw in her debut film 1920, a horror flick directed by Vikram Bhatt shot extensively in Yorkshire, UK. Touted as the Hindi Film Industry's youngest and cutest faces, she is currently shooting in five degrees back in the UK for her second film titled Phir with co-star Rajneesh Duggal.

The only difference is that this film is not directed by Vikram Bhatt, he is only producing it. The person in the director's chair is going to be Girish Dhamija.

So what is Adah up to in New Castle? The actress on the sets of her latest film, is plowing through jacket potatoes with beans and cheese with a glass of orange juice. "I am a vegetarian and the only food available at this time of the day are jacket potatoes. But because it is so cold here, this dish comes piping hot, and every half an hour I have a glass of hot water as I don't have any tea or coffee. Actually I am now used to all this as I've been in this routine since 1920", she says.

While having her lunch, the actress was touched by a couple of incidents which she witnessed. No wonder she sounded excited, "I love animals and seeing these huge horses is pretty impressive. There was a big fat white cat here who was completely drenched in the rain. So I gave her some milk. Quickly responding to my sweet gesture she came next to my boots and sat down. She even started playing hide-n-seek with me. Every time I tried to find her she used to go behind the car."

Despite her second time in the UK, Adah is taking time to acclimatise. "I've been here for a week and the weather is driving me mad. The day we landed at the airport, it was cold and windy. We've got the majority of our film shoot in New Castle which is up North of England and on our first day of shoot, it rained. One day the temperature is mild, then the next day is sunny and today it's freezing. We had to shoot in one of the castles for four days but that too got delayed."

So is her next film Phir a horror flick too? She laughs and answers "No not again. Don't worry. I won't scare you this time. Phir is a pacy thriller drama but that's all I can reveal as of now."

The unique aspect of Phir seems to be the outfits picked by Vikram Bhatt himself. "Yes, it's true. Vikram sir has done the outfits for the film. He personally shopped for everyone from London. He had a very clear look for Phir in his mind and I am open to trying a new look."

So what's the new look of Adah Sharma going to be like? "My look in the film is really grungy yet very interesting. Loose oversized jackets with skirts and boots. The colour combo also is very unusual. Brown boots, red muffler, purple skirt, violet stockings, grey top and blue-green overcoat".

Michael Jackson sued by sheikh

Troubled pop singer Michael Jackson is being sued by a sheikh for 4.3 million pounds for breach of contract.

Thesun.co.uk reports that Prince Abdulla Al-Khalif of Bahrain had signed a deal for an autobiography, two albums and a musical with Jackson. And in return he gave Jackson an 180,000 pound Rolls-Royce.

They met after Jackson's acquittal on child-molesting charges in June 2005. And the prince also bailed out Jackson's Neverland ranch.

The sheikh has filed the case in London High Court.

Ghajini could destroy Kinng

Lindsay Lohan says she’s no ‘lesbian’

Lindsay Lohan, who admitted dating Samantha Ronson in September, is reconsidering her relationship with the DJ as she has reportedly said that she’s not a ‘lesbian’.

The 22-year-old singer, who has been with the disc-spinner for nine months, is said to have been furious after her jealous girlfriend ordered her flunkies to clear eager men flocking Lindsay at London’s Dolce club.

“Things are very difficult at the moment. I’m just trying to work out what to do,” News of the World quoted Lindsay as reportedly telling an insider.

The Mean Girls actress, who reportedly had a heated argument with DJ Sam recently, has apparently confided in her friends that she can no longer stand her controlling girlfriend and that she’s not gay.

A close friend said: “Linds is on the brink because Sam won’t leave her side. Whenever she does, Lindsay’s on the phone telling her mates that she’s decided she’s not a lesbian.

“Of course she still has feelings for Sam — but she also feels like she has to escape.”
