“I first met this team while working on the trailer of ‘RRR’. That was when I met S. S. Rajamouli and S. S. Karthikeya. I call producer Karthikeya my brother. From that moment, they had tremendous faith in me, which is why they entrusted me with the editing of this film.

Having faith in me does not mean that they would approve everything I do. I don’t even know how many versions of the trailer we created. If I edited it in one way, Karthikeya would say it was good but that the first part could be changed slightly. I would change it and then he would say the first part was okay but the second part could be changed. We would then change the second part as well.

I am saying this because he never takes anything lightly. Karthikeya is very clear about what impact a trailer should create and what kind of response it should generate. That is something I learned from this team.

1. S. Rajamouli is also the same way. When you work with him, you are constantly amazed that you are actually working with him.

When I read the screenplay of this film, I asked director Shashank how he planned to visualise certain portions. Generally, people say that if even 60 percent of what is written in a screenplay is translated effectively onto the screen, that itself is a great achievement. But, in my view, this film has been executed with 200 percent perfection.

They have translated the screenplay into a visual language with 200 percent precision. The director’s vision, the cinematographer’s vision and Fahadh Faasil’s contribution make it special.

Congratulations and thanks to Suriya, who has delivered a double dhamaka with ‘Karuppu’ and ‘Viswanath & Sons’. Through ‘Singam’, you portrayed a mass police officer, and we hope that in ‘Sein’ you will once again portray a different kind of police officer. Once, a great architect told me, ‘If you can draw the outline of a building on your fingernail, that is the best building.’ I believe the same applies to cinema. A two-and-a-half-hour film should be expressible as a story in two or three lines. That is what makes a great film. This is what I told director Shashank.

When the director came to meet me to narrate the story, he said, ‘Give me three hours and I will tell you the story of this film.’ I told him that I definitely could not spare three hours and asked whether he could tell me the story in five minutes.

He asked how that would be possible. I told him that if he could tell me the story in five minutes and I liked it, I would then listen to the full two-and-a-half-hour story.

He thought for a moment and said, ‘I don’t need five minutes. I can tell you the story in one sentence.’

He said, ‘It is the story of a man who kidnaps a ghost.’ I immediately loved it. Everything in the story ran through my mind from that one sentence. That is why I found the story fascinating. The work on the film began after that.

Everyone knows that Fahadh Faasil is a brilliant actor. He has played different kinds of characters in films such as ‘Kumbalangi Nights’, ‘Joji’ and ‘Trance’. Even today, I am amazed at how he chooses such characters. I have often wondered why he continues to take on characters with dark shades. His performance in this film is also special.

To say it again, he is the rascal of this film. He has performed wonderfully as Soori. When I watched the first copy of this film without dubbing and without music, I cried and laughed. That is how deeply the film affected me. He has brought Soori to life to that extent. I thank him for that.

Divya is the one who constantly chases Soori in the film. Sara plays that character and has performed brilliantly. Although Soori says on screen that Divya is his best friend, the two of them were almost like rivals while acting on the sets. They would have competed with each other to perform better than the other.

In every scene, every dialogue and every small performance, Divya is the perfect competitor to Soori. I am sure audiences will enjoy this rivalry.

I then met him and heard both stories. I liked both of them and said that I wanted to act in both. That was when he told me, ‘I am producing them.’ That made me happy.

Then he told me one more thing: ‘S. S. Rajamouli is presenting this film.’ As soon as he said that, I told him, ‘Why don’t you make it with actors better than me?’

I don’t think I have ever had a good opening in Telugu so far. I hope this film changes that. I thank the producer and Rajamouli for this.

Producer Karthikeya told me that Suriya would be attending this event. I became even happier when I heard that because he is like a brother to me. Thank you for coming here today and wishing us well.

I have never heard a story like this before, nor have I seen a film like this. I have never played a character like this either. It is very new. That is why I immediately agreed to be part of it.

We shot this film for 100 to 120 days. When I recently watched the film, I was amazed. My thanks to director Shashank Yeleti, cinematographer Brad Francis, production designers Sandeep and Mohan, music composer Kaala Bhairava, editor Praveen Antony and everyone who worked on this film.

“I am very happy to be here with the team of ‘Don’t Trouble the Trouble’ this evening.

There is a word called hospitality. I used to think that we were the ones who celebrated hospitality the best. But in Andhra and Telangana, they practise hospitality even better than us. We cannot match them in hospitality. They shower us with unconditional love to that extent.

Cinema, for me, continues to surprise us. We have been watching cinema since we were born. I am now 50 years old. Yet every film continues to surprise us with new ideas and new attempts.

That is how I look at this film as well. It is a combination that nobody would have expected — Fahadh Faasil, Rajamouli and Karthikeya. None of us would have imagined that such a film would come from this combination.

Such a trailer, and such a story within it. Can a person kidnap a ghost? That is something nobody could imagine. What happens after the ghost is kidnapped? Nobody can predict that either. That is why I am eagerly looking forward to this film.

Fahadh has called me his elder brother. I am happy about that. We have spoken a lot — morning, afternoon, evening, night and even midnight. We have many beautiful memories together.

We have spoken about incidents from our early days and about the similarities in our lives. We did not reach where we are today easily. We stumbled, fell, got back up and eventually reached this point. We have spoken about all of that wholeheartedly. I thank him for that.

All of us make calculations. If we make a film like this, these people will like it but those people won’t. If we make another kind of film, others will like it but some specific audience may not. We make so many calculations like a mathematics teacher.

Actors also get trapped within an image. But Fahadh Faasil is not like that. I am still making these calculations, often incorrectly. I cannot be like him.

He focuses only on his character. Is the story good? Is his character good? Can we deliver this content correctly to the audience? That is what Fahadh thinks about. That is why he is able to choose and play characters like these.

I thank him once again for that.

He has also dubbed his character himself in all the languages. We usually think about becoming a character. Fahadh actually becomes the character.

Whenever there is a child in a film, they make that world feel real. In that sense, child artist Sara has acted very well in this film. Everyone is appreciating her performance.

We should not get confused about whether to pronounce a dialogue this way or that way. In this film, your dialogue is beautiful and natural.

A director may have the imagination to create a story like this. If a child actor is going to be part of it, the director needs to have the mind of a child to handle them.

The films I watched as a child are still fresh in my mind. Today, we are not providing enough films specifically for children above six or eight years of age. We show them children’s films made by Netflix, Amazon and Walt Disney. We should all come together and create films that children can watch too.

In that sense, this is a children’s film for adults. It has all kinds of emotions.

Thank you, Rajamouli, for completing 25 years as a filmmaker. I think I have been in the film industry for around 28 or 29 years. If you give me an opportunity to appear in one of your films for one day, or even for one minute, in a special role, I would be grateful.

Thank you for always supporting new talent and new content. Thank you for putting your stamp on them as well. Your statement that this film has a new story has given tremendous confidence to the entire team.

Similarly, as producers, there is usually a limit to how much a film can be sold for. You have challenged that as well.

Actors too have a certain boundary within which they believe they can perform. You have broken that comfortable circle and created an impact on actors as well.

The posters has an adorably intriguing feel to it, with the actor’s presence leaving us guessing about the character he is set to portray. Hip Hop Tamizha Aadhi, as usual, plays a character who gives advice to his younger brothers and sisters while also keeping them entertained and making them vibe with him. Moving throughout the film with a lively and celebratory attitude through songs and dance, Aadhi occasionally delivers philosophical messages and also attempts to spark a movement to gain recognition for Chennai Gana, particularly seeking to win the hearts of people from North Chennai.

Chaithra Achar, Kettika Sharma and Ramya Ranganathan, with one heroine representing each period in the story, have all performed their roles effectively.

Harshat Khan, who plays Aadhi’s friend, along with Karunas, Nassar, Aadukalam Naren, Sara and Karunakaran, have all made their contributions appropriately.

Cinematographer Balaji Subramaniam presents the entire film in a colourful manner and has handled the differences between the three time periods with finesse.

Editor Fenny Oliver has edited the sequences according to the director’s vision while ensuring that the film moves without losing its pace.

Hip Hop Tamizha Aadhi, who has written, directed and composed the music, uses the same central theme as the first part while adding a new element—the movement for recognition of Chennai Gana artists. He attempts to build the screenplay around this idea and appeal to the younger generation.

Understanding the pulse of youngsters, Aadhi has designed the songs and sequences in a way that turns the theatre into a grand celebration. Although the film contains numerous songs and is presented almost like a massive musical concert, it is disappointing that most of the songs, except for two, are difficult to understand. In particular, the climax song, which Aadhi heavily built up, is not clear at all.

The film follows Aadhi’s logic that a movie should be fun and entertaining. However, the fact that the screenplay travels along a similar path to the first part is somewhat disappointing. At the same time, Aadhi manages to overcome these shortcomings by filling the film with plenty of entertaining elements that allow his “younger brothers and sisters” to enjoy themselves. Once again, he succeeds in entertaining them and walks away with his signature moustache-twirling confidence.

Nani, born into the Savari community, follows in his mother’s footsteps and fights against oppression. He attempts to free his people from slavery and help them establish their own identity. Whether he succeeds or not forms the core of The Paradise, told against a backdrop of a sea of blood and piles of corpses.

Nani, who appears with twin braids as the character Jadal, carries the film on his shoulders with his intense performance. However, the excessive violence prevents his performance from making the desired impact.

Kayadu Lohar, who plays the female lead, has been used largely as a glamour element, but she makes an impression through the way her character has been written as an equal to the male protagonist. Since her scenes provide some relief to the audience, one cannot help but feel that she could have been given more screen time.

Mohan Babu, who plays the antagonist, carries himself with great authority, living up to the saying, “A lion remains a lion even in old age.” Although he appears in two different looks representing youth and old age, he delivers a commanding performance in both and brings plenty of mass appeal.

Sonali Kulkarni, who plays Nani’s mother, along with Sampurnesh Babu as his friend, Tanikella Bharani, Vishika, Krishna Teja, Eswari Rao and the other supporting actors have all performed their roles effectively.

Cinematographer C.H. Sai realistically captures the filthy, slush-filled surroundings and the Savari people living there. Although the film is filled with artificiality, he presents the world on a grand scale.

The songs and background score by Anirudh add strength to the violent sequences as well as the emotional struggles of the characters.

Editor Naveen Nooli’s work becomes tiring for the audience because of the film’s excessive runtime, largely caused by the numerous action sequences.

Writer-director Srikanth Odela takes the one-line idea of a protagonist fighting to break the chains of slavery and builds the entire screenplay around it. The hero fights, then gets beaten, and this pattern continues almost throughout the film. As a result, the screenplay becomes repetitive and eventually tiresome.

The excessive violence, combined with the heightened imagination used in staging the sequences, becomes the film’s biggest weakness.

Nani’s performance, the way the filthy world of Paradise and the clothing of its oppressed inhabitants have been designed, and the creation of the Paradise world through sets and graphics are among the aspects worth appreciating. However, the lengthy runtime, relentless violence and the constant presence of bloodshed throughout the film can leave viewers feeling overwhelmed.

While Rishikanth is living in another state, he receives a call from Sananth’s own father asking him to kill Sananth. Why does Sananth’s family want him dead, and how does Rishikanth deal with this shocking situation? ‘Dorothy’ explores these questions through a story rooted in Madurai’s raw atmosphere while giving importance to human emotions.

Director Karthik Subbaraj, who is known for presenting even ordinary characters with a larger-than-life appeal, uses ‘Dorothy’ to explore human emotions and the struggles of people who are often pushed aside by society. The film attempts to initiate a fresh conversation in Tamil cinema.

Sananth and Rishikanth, who play the protagonists, prove through their performances that they can effortlessly handle challenging characters.

Sananth is particularly impressive in scenes depicting his sudden transformation. His body language effectively conveys the emotions of a character who is unable to reveal his inner turmoil while also struggling to suppress it. His performance through subtle physical expressions makes a strong impact.

Rishikanth delivers an intense performance as a man who is willing to do anything for his friend. His portrayal of a friendship-driven character who eventually finds himself preparing to kill that very friend is convincing. His restrained performance in several emotionally demanding scenes makes him a promising presence in Tamil cinema.

Keerthy Suresh, as Dorothy, appears only in a limited number of scenes but plays a significant role in the film’s turning point. She delivers the character effectively.

Ramachandran Durairaj, Soundararajan and Muthukumar bring strong screen presence to their respective roles, reflecting patriarchal attitudes and people who commit cruel acts in the name of honour.

Jeeva Subramanian, Kejraj, Rams and others appear only in a few scenes, but their dialogues and character moments contribute significantly to the screenplay.

Cinematographer S. Thiru captures the film in a way that transports viewers to the atmosphere of the 1980s. His visual treatment of the characters and locations gives even the simplicity of the story a strong cinematic presence.

Ilaiyaraaja’s music is one of the film’s major strengths. Songs such as “Kalyana Virundhu” and “Muthumani” have already received a strong response. When experienced along with the visuals, the songs effectively convey a wide range of emotions. His background score gives every emotion—from conflict and love to anger and sadness—its own musical identity.

Editor Ganesh Siva keeps the simple storyline engaging through a linear narrative, introducing twists and maintaining curiosity from scene to scene.

Karthik Subbaraj and Saravanan Chandran have written a story that addresses a subject many may hesitate to discuss openly.

As writer and director, Karthik Subbaraj once again proves that he can move beyond mass commercial cinema and create films that connect with people emotionally. Although the film initially appears to follow a commercial path, the narrative suddenly takes a different direction. The unexpected twists and the way certain assumptions are deliberately overturned work particularly well.

While it is commendable that a filmmaker like Karthik Subbaraj has chosen to discuss people who are marginalised by society, the sudden romantic angle introduced during the climax may feel unconvincing. The long journey that begins with friendship is brought to an end through love, but the romantic element feels somewhat forced.

Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is among the most highly anticipated films of the year. With anticipation around the epic continuing to soar with every new reveal, the makers have now unveiled the first official poster of Rocking Star Yash as Ravana, offering a striking glimpse of the larger-than-life avatar he brings to the screen.

Since the trailer’s release, Yash’s portrayal of Ravana has emerged as one of the film’s most talked-about elements. Making an immediate impact from his very first appearance, the actor brings an imposing intensity and formidable aura to the iconic character, further fuelling anticipation around his portrayal in the epic.

The newly unveiled poster captures Yash in all his commanding glory. Adorned in a bright, glittering golden crown embellished with precious gems, layered pearl necklaces and heavy gold bracelets, Yash commands the frame with his intense gaze and imposing presence. Ravana was a powerful king, a person of unparalleled knowledge and a formidable ruler of Lanka, and Yash has perfectly embodied his commanding demeanour and personality. The striking visual further offers a glimpse into the grandeur and scale with which Ravana has been envisioned for the big screen.

Bringing to life one of the greatest tales ever told, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana seeks to translate the epic’s scale, emotion and timeless characters into a cinematic spectacle. Ranbir Kapoor essays Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash takes on the role of Ravana, Sunny Deol portrays Hanuman, while Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman. The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam in India.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with 8-time Oscar-winning DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the two-part epic will release worldwide in IMAX, with Part 1 arriving in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.

At the heart of Pizza Boys are five friends navigating the challenges of making a living in an unfamiliar city. Their experiences, aspirations and unbreakable camaraderie form the emotional core of the film, while their journey takes them through situations that are far beyond what they initially anticipate. Without revealing much about the plot, Pizza Boys promises to blend youthful emotions, friendship, ambition and unexpected turns into an engaging narrative with a distinctly contemporary setting.

Adding to the curiosity surrounding the project is Shivam Shankar, who makes his acting debut with the film. Sharath Lohitashwa takes on the role of antagonist, while popular actor Shobraj appears as Inspector Nagraj, bringing further depth to the film’s ensemble.

Pizza Boys marks the second production venture of Seven Hills Cine Creation, with Shankar KN and Sahana Shankar backing the project. Shekhar Keshav Sirrin takes on the responsibilities of story, direction and music, while Guruprasad handles cinematography. The film has been shot entirely in Bengaluru, with the makers completing a 42-day schedule primarily at Kanteerava Studios and across key outdoor locations in the city.

With its young protagonists, friendship-driven narrative and Bengaluru setting, Pizza Boys aims to offer a refreshing perspective on the lives of youngsters who leave their hometowns in pursuit of a livelihood and find themselves caught up in experiences they never anticipated. ‘Raatchasiye’ adds another intriguing layer to a film that has kept audiences curious right from its title announcement. The teaser had already offered glimpses into the eerie world of Mandavetti, with its mysterious mythology, unsettling atmosphere and the enigmatic presence of ‘Senji Saamy’. The first single now expands that world through music, exploring the mysticism and emotional depth at the heart of the story.

With 2026 witnessing a strong wave of content-driven films finding resonance with audiences, Mandavetti has steadily generated curiosity through its distinctive title and visual promotions. The film’s intriguing premise and the mythology surrounding ‘Senji’, a fierce local deity, have further heightened expectations among cinema enthusiasts and trade circles.
