AGS 29′ to take shape as an adrenaline pumping action thriller with comedy and other elements

South India’s leading cinema conglomerate AGS Entertainment, which is back to back rolling out successful films, today announced its 29th production venture following the grand success of its last venture ‘Blast’. The project started with a pooja in Chennai.

Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh and Kalpathi S. Suresh of AGS Entertainment are producing this movie with the working title ‘AGS 29’. It is written and directed by M.S. Anandan who earlier made Vishal-starrer ‘Chakra’.

Starring Jai, Priyanka Mohan and Yogi Mohan in pivotal roles, the film will feature Rajiv Menon, Nassar, G.M. Sundar, Ramesh Thilak and Arul Doss in important characters.

According to Director M.S. Anandan, “this film will be an edge-of-the-seat action thriller that would keep the audience engaged from start to finish. At the same time, there will also be other interesting ingredients like comedy in adequate doses. I am so excited to direct this film for AGS Entertainment.”

Shooting for the movie will take place in Ooty, Chennai and other places. Archana Kalpathi is the Creative Producer, while Aishwarya Kalpathi is the Associate Creative Producer. S.M. Venkat Manickam is the Executive Producer.

Ravi Basrur of ‘KGF’ and the recent ‘Blast’ fame is scoring the music for the film, while Bala Subramaniem is the Director of Photography. Editing is by Pradeep E. Raghav, art direction is by S. Kannan, stunt choreography by Phoenix Prabu, costume designing by Dinesh Manoharan, Pallavi Singh and Selvi Thangaraj, and publicity designing by Tuney John.

Anbil Avan to Release Worldwide in Theatres on September 25

The makers have officially announced through a poster that Anbil Avan, a romantic film starring leading young actor Ashok Selvan, will be released worldwide in theatres on September 25.Directed by R. Karthikeyan, the film is a romantic story blended with beautiful emotions and has been made as an entertaining film. The story has been written by Vignesh Raja, the director of Por Thozhil.

Ashok Selvan stars alongside Preethi Mukundhan, Sabu Mon, Abdul Samad, Kathir Balu, Maha Delhi Ganesh and several others.

Gautham Rajendran is the cinematographer, while Govind Vasantha has composed the music. R.K. Selva is handling the editing, and Manikandan Srinivasan is the art direction.

National Award-winning filmmaker Sajeev Pazhoor has written and directed the upcoming Tamil film Enna Vilai. The film is produced by Jithesh Viswambharan and Anugopal Venugopalan under the banner of Kalamaya Cineverse. Rumours begin to circulate that several crores of rupees are hidden inside a seaside bungalow owned by Dr. Vincent Ashokan. Four thieves—Pugazh, Kumki Ashwin, Thidiyan, and Indiran—learn about the money and plan to rob the bungalow.

When they try to break into the property, they are caught by the bungalow’s security guard, Ravi Maria. However, instead of handing them over to the authorities, Ravi Maria makes a secret deal with the four thieves, and they agree to his terms.

Meanwhile, the four thieves discover a shocking truth about the bungalow’s owner, Dr. Vincent Ashokan, and the security guard, Ravi Maria. Terrified by what they have learned, they try to escape without letting either of them know that they have discovered the truth.

Do they succeed in escaping? What is the mysterious past of the bungalow’s owner and its security guard? The film ‘4 Idiots’ attempts to tell this story in a humorous manner.

Pugazh, who plays the film’s lead character, fails to deliver even a single comedy moment that audiences expect from him. One possible reason is that the music director has not added the kind of background laughter one might hear on Vijay TV.

On television, comedians can do all sorts of things, tease people, make them laugh easily, laugh along with them, and even praise themselves by saying, “Good comedy!” But cinema does not allow such tricks to work so easily. Characters who travel with the story need to think harder to make the audience laugh and must deliver their comedy lines with perfect timing.

However, Pugazh seems to prove in this film, just as he has in his previous films, that comedy timing is simply not his strength.

Kumki Ashwin, who teams up with Pugazh, along with Thidiyan and Indiran, are in an even more unfortunate position. Ravi Maria joins them and tortures the audience in the name of comedy. Vincent Ashokan, however, performs his role without any major shortcomings.

The filmmakers have used Pragya Nayan in a different manner and have also included a glamour song featuring her to entertain the audience.

U.K. Senthilkumar’s cinematography gives the film a colourful visual treatment and presents its commercial elements in an eye-pleasing manner.

The songs and background score composed by Subash Munirathnam are packed with commercial elements.

Writer-director Sajo Sundar Murugesan deserves credit for handling the entire story within a particular location and for using Pragya Nayan’s character in several different ways. These aspects make the film somewhat enjoyable. However, the excessive overacting by the lead characters in the name of comedy weakens the overall impact of the film.

The film has all the ingredients that fans of commercial and comedy movies would expect. But if those elements had been integrated more effectively into the screenplay, ‘4 Idiots’ could have exploded into a huge laugh riot.

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit Movie Review

Middle-aged Nivin Pauly, who is still struggling to come to terms with the memory of his deceased lover, gets a new neighbour when college student Mamitha Baiju moves in next door with her family. As the two become friends, love gradually blossoms between them. ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ is about their romantic emotions and the chaos that unfolds as a result, narrated in a touching and entertaining manner.

Nivin Pauly carries the entire film with his seasoned performance, portraying a wide range of emotions with remarkable finesse. He conveys the age difference between himself and the woman he falls in love with through his body language, feels embarrassed by the mischievous antics of the young woman, and becomes emotionally disturbed after suffering another heartbreak. His nuanced performance is one of the film’s biggest strengths.

Mamitha Baiju impresses as the mischievous college student, winning the audience over with her lively performance and expressive body language. The way she embraces her love without worrying about the considerable age gap between herself and her lover is particularly enjoyable to watch.

Sangeeth Prathap, who plays Nivin Pauly’s younger brother, along with Bindu Panicker, Suresh Krishna, Vinay Forrt, Srindaa, Shameer Khan, Meenakshi Raveendran, Ayasankar Karimuttam, Thangam Mohan and Vettukili Prakash, are all perfectly cast in their respective roles. Their performances and screen presence add considerable strength to the screenplay.

Cinematographer Ajmal Sabu makes the setting itself visually appealing, capturing the town where the story unfolds, its church and the closely situated houses. His visuals make the setting engaging beyond the film’s romance and comedy.

“When the film began, preparations for his wedding were also taking place. While the shoot was happening on one side, he was also preparing for an important chapter in his personal life.

“The shoot began very quickly, but due to various reasons, it eventually became a long journey. Today, seeing the film succeed and everyone coming together to celebrate it is extremely satisfying.

“I have always believed that the journey towards a goal is more important than reaching the goal itself. Whether a film succeeds or fails is only one phase. But the people we meet during that journey, the people who stand by us and support us, are the real strength that stays with us throughout our lives. In that sense, the journey of ‘Hi’ has been a beautiful experience for me.

“After hearing the story, I told Vishnu that the actors he had envisioned for each character should play those roles. I could not imagine anyone other than Radhika ma’am, Prabhu sir, Suhasini ma’am and Bhagyaraj sir in those characters. I felt even then that the story would gain its complete strength only with those actors.

“Today, seeing all those members of the team sitting together and sharing the success of this film makes me extremely happy.

About the Film

Directed by debutant Vishnu Edavan, ‘Hi’ features Nayanthara, Kavin, K. Bhagyaraj, Prabhu, Radhika Sarathkumar, VTV Ganesh, Sathyan, ‘Adithya’ Kathir, Qureshi and several others in important roles.

Rajesh Shukla is the cinematographer, while Jen Martin has composed the music. Philomin Raj has handled the editing and S. Kannan has taken care of the art direction.

Released as a family entertainer, the film has been jointly produced by Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan and S. S. Lalit Kumar under the banners of Zee Studios, The Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio.

Dubai: A significant milestone celebrating the remarkable achievements of the Tamil community across the Arab world was marked at the grand Sikaram 2026 event in Dubai, with the launch of “Top 100 Tamil Leaders in Arabia – Edition 1.”

The prestigious publication shines a spotlight on Tamil entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals who have carved inspiring success stories through their vision, perseverance and leadership across Arabia.

The book was officially unveiled by Hon. Leema Rose, MLA, Lalgudi Constituency, in the presence of WIT organizer Merlin. The ceremonial first copy was presented to the MLA by Vijayan Ayyappan.
