Just a quick message to our faithful readers. MovieGoods is moving our blog from TypePad to WordPress. Now don't worry - you can still find all of our blog posts (new AND old) on the new blog. In fact, they're already there! The new web site URL will be http://blog.moviegoods.com.

New Movie Poster Released for Richard Linklater Film “Me and Orson Welles”

You can rarely go wrong with a Richard Linklater ("Dazed and Confused" and "Before Sunset") directed film. This movie follows the story of a young man who gets enmeshed in the goings-on of the Mercury Theatre Company in 1937 in the week prior to Orson Welles' broadway production of "Julius Caesar". Orson Welles is played by Christian McKay. An inspired casting decision has excellent UK journeyman actor Eddie Marsan as John Houseman. Less inspiring (it seems) is the choice of Zack Efron as the central character, Richard Samuels. Was he cast because he can actually act or because he is an "it" boy of the "High School Musical" series of films? I guess we will have to wait and see. One thing that is puzzling is why has it taken over a year for this movie to go into general release after it was first shown at the Toronto Film Festival in 2008? Generally not a good sign. The movie poster has the principal actors standing in the shadow shot-from-behind image of the great Orson Welles. Look for the movie on the 25th of November when it hits theaters in the USA.

Set of Seven French Character Movie Posters Released for "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus"

Here's a question for our readers: Which of the big-time actors displayed on these posters looks the best? Is it Jude Law, Colin Farrell, Johnny Depp, or Heath Ledger? Maybe even less than big-time actor, but big time singer/songwriter Tom Waits as Mr. Nick (aka The Devil)? Whichever it is, one thing we know for sure is that this movie is bound to make a few waves. Most folks either really like or really dislike Terry Gilliam flicks. It is set for limited release on December 25th in the US.

Three New "Twilight: New Moon" Movie Posters Released

OK "Twilighters" they are here! Just released are the three new movie posters for "Twilight: The New Moon". We get group character shots on three new movie posters: Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) with their family, Jane (Dakota Fanning) and the "The Volturi", and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) with the "Werewolves". Great stuff. The designs are consistent with the movie posters from the first film. The buzz is building for the film that will be released stateside on November 20th.

Great Design for New Swiss "Capitalism: A Love Story" Movie Poster

Direct from Switzerland (that non-capitalistic country) comes the new movie poster for Michael Moore's "Capitalism: A Love Story". The design has Shepard Fairey written all over it. The left profile of Michael Moore and the blue star in the background has a pseudo "Obama – Hope" poster thing going for it. Depending on how you look at the Wall Street and big banking crews, you will probably either love or hate this movie.

All Eight "Where the Wild Things Are" Character Movie Posters Now Released

Eight movie posters for all the different characters in Spike Jonze's adaptation of "Where the Wild Things Are" are now in the market. The film is based on the classic children's book written by Maurice Sendak in 1963. All of the incredible characters are brought to life from the wonderful art created by Sendak. We can see our conquering hero Max, who starts out "making mischief" to experiencing an adventure in his own imagination. The movie posters include images of Carol (voice by James Gandolfini), Ira (Forrest Whitaker), Judith (Catherine O'Hara), Douglas (Chris Cooper), and the rest of the "Wild Things". Film is out on Friday, October 16th.

New Movie Poster Released for the Football Film "The Blind Side"

Following in the footsteps of football docu-dramas, "Rudy", "We Are Marshall", and "The Express", "The Blind Side" chronicles the true story surrounding the life of teenager and now Baltimore Raven, Michael Oher. Based on the great book by Michael Lewis, Oher’s story is quite amazing. A young African American teen goes from being homeless, then taken in and helped by an upper-middle class white family to a number one draft pick for the NFL. He faced innumerable challenges to get there, good for him. Should be worth seeing.

Film contains the last performance on film of Heath Ledger. In fact, Heath Ledger died while movie was being made. His role was "adjusted" allowing both Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell to complete it. It will be quite interesting to see how former Monty Python member Terry Gilliam, who is well known for directing some pretty eclectic fare, ("Brazil", "The Fisher King" and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas") got it done. Either way, this one will be worth seeing. It is set for limited release on December 25th in the US.

New Movie Poster Released for Satire Flick "Men Who Stare at Goats"

We are looking forward to this movie. Film stars George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor, and Kevin Spacey. In a plot that might be described as a mash up of "Catch 22" and "The Big Lebowski" with military intelligence (classic oxymoron) as a backdrop instead of a bowling alley. The movie poster has the four actors in a Mount Rushmore-like pose along with...well...Billy the Goat. Bound to be good for some insightfully good laughs.

Movie Poster for Vampire Comedy "Translymania" Released

Just what we need, another teen-vampire movie. This time it is a hybrid between one of those really bad and infinitely forgettable later "National Lampoon" tagged movies ("Dorm Daze", "Cattle Call", and "Repli-Kate") and "Love at First Bite". This month's version has the "students" on a trip to Romania where it is unclear what is more deadly, their partying or Count Dracula. Puh-lease! Get your tickets early, this one’s bound to be in huge demand. Film will be released on December 4th, 2009.
