Music Review

Agent Vinod is the hottest film of 2012 for obvious reasons and hence, the expectations from the music are very high. Pritam once again after giving superhit music for Love Aaj Kal, Saif's previous home production has a tough task ahead. He also needs to prove his worth since, his last album Players was a colossal disappointment, Vishal Shekhar are now-a-days giving back to back hit albums and youngsters like Amit Trivedi, Sachin-Jigar are making cool compositions. So lets check out what Pritam delivers with Agent Vinod.

The album starts with the Boney M Rasputin inspired I Will Do the Talking a.k.a Steal The Night. Ofcourse, the rights were brought and the composer makes an inspired version keeping his head high. Just like Pretty Woman from KHNH did not ape the original, this song too only has traits of Rasputin. The Lalala tune and the line henceforth reminds you of the original. Rest of the song is totally desi with punjabi lyrics included here and there. Neeraj Shreedhar sings honestly but Barbie Amod, Shefali Alvaris and Aditi Sharma are more impactful. The lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya though writes great lyrics for original compositions, somehow fails when it comes to penning for inspired soundtrack. Here too Pritam's music is the only thing which makes the song worth listening, the lyrics are ordinary. Nonetheless, the song will definitely gain big commercial success. The remix version is decent enough, just the additional rap makes it more hip.

Pritam deserves full marks for composing Dil Mera Muft Ka, a new-gen mujra with elements of rock and raga, the lyricist Nilesh Misra too deserves to be applauded for brilliant lyrics. The song will be a superhit and one of the main factors for this movie's box office success. The singers have done a good job but the song belongs to the composer and lyricist. The remix version turns out to be more of a traditional mujra which is very likable due to the use of Indian elements like tabla, ghungroo etc, but the original is far more innovative.

Ok so you had an item number, a rock mujra and now its time for something more soulful. Raabta belongs to the singer Arijit Singh for singing it brilliantly. The composition is good but the song follows the pattern of Pritam's Dil Yeh Bekarar Kyun Hai from Players. The song comes in 3 versions with more or less the same tune but different lyrics and female singers. A nice song which will be loved by people who prefer melodious numbers.

Pungi crooned by Mika, Nakush, Amitabh Bhattacharya and Pritam is that kind of a number which normally should feature someone like Govinda or Salman since its full of taporigiri, lafantargiri, govinda-giri, sallu-giri and other unexplored giri's. The song is full of fun targeted towards the masses. Pungi has everything in it to become an anthem if promoted well. The lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya proves the point that he is superb while penning original compositions. For Pritam, he has given four different potentially hit tracks back to back. The remix version seems to be identical to the original.

Agent Vinod Theme track is something you can compare with the James Bond theme music, it gives that thrilling feel of a spy movie when you listen to it. James Bond theme has become immortal and so is the character, Agent Vinod may well become popular character if not immortal if the movie has good substance, but as far as the theme track is concerned, Pritam has nailed it. Better than the new Don theme.

Agent Vinod boasts of a superhit soundtrack. Pritam is back with a bang. The entire album is a gem, Dil Mera Muft Ka leads this soundtrack proudly with the theme track, I will do the talking, Pungi and Raabta. There is innovation, inspiration, versatility, universality and above all great commercial potential in this soundtrack.

Agent Vinod is a must have album. The best album of 2012 so far. Highly Recommended!

Ratings - 4.5 / 5 stars

Kahaani | Music Review | 2012 | Vishal Shekhar

Kahaani music is composed by ace duo Vishal Shekhar who recently composed some mind blowing tracks for Ra.One. It's Criminal if we think that they would give something same for Kahaani, a movie which is more realistic than imaginary. Definitely, Vidya cannot go Chammak Chhalo nor any other Chammak Chhalo can sneak into this movie since the genre does not require an item song. So lets see what the composers have in store for us with Kahaani.

Aami Shotti Bolchchi comes of as a surprise and Usha Uthup's vocals take over you within no time. An amalgamation of retro plus rock make this song different. Though at times the rock sound may be loud enough to bear for some, still musically it's something many composers may be shy to attempt. Clearly, here creativity and quality is more important than success and commerce. The song also shows the spirit of Kolkata just like Da Da Dilli Dilli showed the spirit of Delhi last year in NOKJ and Mumbai Nagariya few years ago crooned by Bappi Da for Taxi No: 9211, showcased the never say die spirit of Mumbai. Needless to say, another successful number based on city spirit.

Next song, too is on the lines of Shotti Bolchchi but this time Javed Bashir is in control and the song takes the form of a semi-rock fused with raga version. The song in contention is Piya tu kahe rootha re and once again the composers come up with a quality number.

However, Kahaani the title track crooned by KK turns out to be the best number from the album since, there is a haunting melody attached to it which keeps you gripped while listening. KK too does a magnificent job.

The composers get all the credit rightly for coming up with such a master stroke.

The album only dips with Tore Bina, a song crooned by Sukhwinder Singh only because of the mediocrity it has in an album which has versatile compositions.

The Kahaani (Female) version is not as impressive as the male. Shreya Ghoshal who has sung many numbers alongside KK gets defeated here by him.

The final number is again a gem, named "Ekla Cholo Re", this song is sung by none other than Amitabh Bachchan. Yes, it's situational, of less commercial importance but again this song is rich in terms of lyrics, composition and singing.

Vishal Shekhar do a fabulous job with Kahaani in terms of creativity. The overall album has versatility but then the songs aren't tailor-made for acceptance, once the movie releases and succeeds the music sales may pick up but be sure that while watching the movie you won't get any song out of place. What the director wants the composers give only that.

The title song along with Shotti Bolchchi are the pick of the lot. Rest of the album is a mixed bag.

Overall, Kahaani soundtrack has more of a class appeal than mass appeal.

Ratings - 3 / 5

Blood Money | Music Review | Jeet Ganguly | Kunal Khemu | Bhatt

Bhatt ofcourse, where there are Bhatt's there is melodious soundtrack, irrespective of whether the movie is fab or flop. Even the disasters the Bhatt camp have come up with boasted of sound music, so despite low star power, there are few expectations from Blood Money.

Since, Ringa Ringa became Dhinka Chika and Kombdi Palali became Chikni Chameli makers are targeting composers who have given hit songs in regional films so that they have something in their album which is tried and tested. Well, that has been the Bhatt Camp's mantra for more than a decade now, remember super hit numbers Woh Lamhe and Aadat [Juda Hoke Bhi] which were originally composed by a Pakistani band.

Today, in the era of official remakes working big time more regional directors are getting a swing at bollywood, latest being Jeet Ganguly whose bengali compositions are rehashed with hindi lyrics. The first one is Chahat sung by the ever bankable Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who seems to sing only songs that work, whether it's the numero uno number or some track in the middle still that song becomes popular by the time the movie releases. There is not a doubt that a Rahat number is never ordinary and this composition from Jeet adds to the singers envious track record. Sweet melody with mushy lyrics makes this bengali remake "khoob misti".

Up next is Gunaah crooned by Mustafa Zahid of Awaarapan fame. The song starts of softly and then blasts off with the guitars. The composer blends in western and Indian instruments wonderfully. The beauty of this number is that it goes soft in the interludes and then rises up making sure there is enough life in this number. Another of Jeet's bengali compositions which strike a chord. The Gunaah Unplugged version by Rana Mazumdar is also good but the original is much better.

Mustafa Zahid returns back with Teri Yaadon Se and once again he weaves magic. The song has everything in it to be a favourite, the music, the singing, the lyrics. A smooth song with the electronic guitar coming in and out, something you often hear in Bhatt-Emraan movies. The Teri Yaadon Se Remix track adds the much needed punch to get people on the dance floor.

The best was yet to come so Mustafa Zahid scores a hatrick with Jo Tere Sang which is a sure fire hit. Hopefully, the Bhatt's promote this track well since it has tremendous potential. Once again Jeet Ganguly's composition does the trick along with Mustafa's vocals. It's instantly addictive and is a promising number.

Arzoo is a typical Bhatt track with the Ho-Ho's and more Ho-Ho's, remember Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai, Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai, Bheegey Hont and Zara Si Dil Mein. Still this Clinton Cerejo number makes it's own identity and comes out with flying colors. The song is an instant like and can be played again and again.

Surprisingly, Blood Money comes of as an album where it is really tough to pick up the best. All songs have something good in them which makes them worth listening. Still if we need to single out, Jo Tere Sang, Teri Yaadon Se, Arzoo are promising tracks which can work big while Chahat and Gunaah are also not far behind.

Something tells that this album would have been a cracker if Emraan would have been the lead guy, but he ain't the hero here. Still, if the bhatt's promote all songs rigorously and manage to create good hype, then this soundtrack can help the movie get a good opening.

Overall, Blood Money is a Bloody Good album! Go for It.

Ratings - 3.5 / 5

Taran Adarsh (Bollywood Hungama) - 3/5
JODI BREAKERS has an engrossing and smartly executed second half that
tilts scales in its favor. The right dose of drama and romance, besides a
trendy, harmonious musical score, only act as toppings...read more
Rajeev Masand (CNN IBN) - 1.5/5
Packed with every standard romantic-movie cliché, Jodi Breakers
is a strain on your nerves, and it doesn’t help that most of the cast
is as dull as dishwater. Omi Vaidya as an oversexed lothario is a bitter
pill to swallow, and Milind Soman and Deepanita Sharma were evidently
hired only for their looks. The charming R Madhavan has a few inspired
moments, but he comes off as too sloppy to play a rom-com lead. Bipasha
Basu, on the other hand, is a gorgeous distraction, but doesn’t have the
spontaneity of her co-star. Despite an interesting premise, the film doesn’t work because its
characters inspire no affection. I’m going with one-and-a-half out of
five for director Ashwini Chaudhary’s Jodi Breakers. Feast your eyes on the stunning Greece locales; it’s the only pleasure this film provides...read more
Jodi Breakers is not too much of an
entertainer and will not be able to break even. Considering the dull
start and lack of merits in it, it will entail losses to all concerned...read more

Times Of India - 2.5/5
At first glance, Jodi Breakers
has a lot going for it: an unusual and interesting lead pair, fabulous
outdoor location (Greece, in this case) and foot-stomping music. But the
movie is let down by a script that lacks fizz and connect. Director
Ashwini Chaudhary's venture begins as a comedy but gradually morphs into
romance and loses momentum in the second half. Jodi Breakers isn't entirely without merit though. Madhavan is earnest. And Bipasha looks stunning. Together they try to make the film better than it actually is. But it simply isn't enough...read more
Sonia Chopra (Sify) - 2.5/5
Director Ashwini Chaudhary’s (Dhoop, Good Boy Bad Boy)
storytelling is assured and unselfconscious. The story is told with the
zest it deserves and is enhanced by the sparkling dialogue. Sadly, the
director has a messed-up second half on his hands. Still, worth your
while for the unusual story, interesting coupling, and the irreverent
humour...read more

Rediff - 1/5
Much of the dialogue is juvenile (written by director Ashwini Chaudhary). Here's an example: Marriage is the ultimate goal of love. No wonder then, they are delivered with an equal amount of disinterest.

And Madhavan, you need to be careful about your co-stars. If you are going to star in a film that features the superfit Bipasha, Milind and Dipannita, a pregnant tummy, jowly cheeks, a double chin and a failed battle with the bulge can only make you stand out. And not in the right way...read more
TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA would've crumbled in the hands of lesser talent.
Riteish is earnest, delivering a subdued performance. He underplays his
beautifully, not going overboard one bit. Genelia is a livewire who adds
to the insanity. She looks fresh, has a great comic timing and handles
her part magnificently. Together, Riteish and Genelia elevate the film a
few notches above the ordinary. Om Puri is remarkable, especially in
the sequence when Genelia is asked to return to her father. Tinnu Anand
is excellent. Smita Jaykar is wonderful. Veena Malik's item number is
strictly okay. On the whole,TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA is refreshing and succeeds in its endeavor of
amusing and entertaining, more particularly in its second hour. In
addition, the sparkling performances by Riteish and Genelia is the
mainstay of the film - read more
money, but profits to Tips and UTV are assured. In fact, Tips has
already made money on its investment- read more
Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu | Movie Review EMAET | Imran Khan | Kareena Kapoor

Every other movie claims to be a rom-com only because it wants to send the right signal to the audience that - be sure to have a goodie goodie time with us and we will weave a love story around humour to make you go LOL now and then. Well that's how most of the Indian rom-coms are defined. In an era of stress, overload, bitter truths, cut throat competition you like to watch movies only because somewhere you feel this is the only place where happy endings take place and if not "sequel abhi baaki hai mere dost".

After having enough of the love triangles, rectangles and pentagons, makers started concentrating on relationships of the protagonists with seasoning of humour to come out with the rom-com's. So if you thought you have seen everything and every angle of love by now, you come across Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, a slice of life movie where the protagonists are not "hero" or "heroine" but rather characters which you can easily relate to. This is a kind of movie which is devoid of cinematic liberties, melodrama and the typical masala, that makes this movie different from others.

Director Shakun Batra gets full marks for his direction and the fact that he tells a story being as straightforward as possible. Though you may have complains after the movie ends still it's something which Indian Cinema and its audience has not accepted for a while now. Movies transport you in a fantasy world which of course you can only dream of but then what if a movie comes up and mirrors reality? Something which you don't need to imagine and has already happened to you or someone you know, whether its heart break, one sided love or screwed up life.

The lead characters Rohan Kapoor and Riana Breganza are from the real world, you may know of friends like them or you may even be one of them. So where Imran Khan plays a tied up rich boy Rohan Kapoor who only listens and does not have the guts to reply back to dominant parents, Kareena enacts the parts of Naina Breganza which looks like Geet's [Kareena Jab We Met Character] polished Urban twin.

While the movie is fun most of the time, none of the characters "try" to make you laugh and no "funny" situations are specifically added to get the ROFL from the crowd. While this is a welcome change, but then there is not much excitement as the conclusion though different and more practical does not leave you exactly with a smiling face or a shock. There is nothing extra-ordinary thing which you usually like to talk about after watching a movie.

The music is pretty decent. The hummable title song and the breezy Aunty Ji are the pick of the lot. The editing is crisp, the movie concludes in 110 mins and nothing looks stretched though some sequences bore you, still they are an essential part of the movie. The screenplay is good and the dialogues will be liked by the urban audience especially youth, their target market this Valentines.

The performances are superior. While Kareena Kapoor plays the urban and more realistic version of Geet with ease, Imran Khan has a tailor made role for him. Both have pretty good chemistry and come up with splendid performances. Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah and Nikhil Kapoor as their parents do a great job. Rest of the cast do what they are supposed to with sincerity.

So, while EMAET doesn't promise to be an epic love story or a story of all seasons, it can be welcomed as a sweet and sour slice of life, where things don't usually go as planned and there is no room for heroics, hamming or emotional atyachaar.

The movie is for a select audience, it ain't universal, it's different but not path breaking. The movie needs a watch atleast once for the performances and direction but don't expect much as the movie is pretty straight forward without many surprises, twists or turns.
EK MAIN AUR EKK TU is a slick, breezy and pleasant fare that should
click with its target audience -- the youth -- and also has the
potential to woo the older spectators as well. This take on love is
refined, smart, lively and thoroughly pleasing thanks to its characters,
conversations and the inherent humor. A perfect date movie. A film
stuffed with exquisite moments that are sure to bring a wide smile on
your face. Simply put, you cannot afford to miss EK MAIN AUR EKK TU.

At 1 hour and 50 minutes, the film is light and breezy, and mercifully
never turns too syrupy for your taste. I’m going with three out of five
for director Shakun Batra’s Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. I was particularly impressed by the unconventional but entirely appropriate ending. I think you will be too...read more
Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is an entertaining and enjoyable fare for
the city audience. Its business in multiplexes will be decent. Given its
total investment of around Rs. 35-36 crore and given that it can easily
recover around 60-65% of that from satellite, audio and home video,
recovery of the balance 35-40% from India and Overaseas theatrical

EMAET is the sweetest heartbreak that Bollywood has conjured in a long, long time. It works both as a college buddy movie and a date movie; for the young and the not-so-young. You can even watch it alone. And if a gorgeous girl asks you for a drink, go ahead, take a chance. Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is told from his perspective but belongs to Kareena Kapoor. After doing ornamental roles in films like Bodyguard and Ra.One, it's nice to see the spunky actress in her element again since Jab We Met Though vivacious, her Riana isn't a child-woman like Geet but a free-spirited, unflappable adult armed with plucky impulses and scrumptious smile that helps Rahul come-of-age and EMAET worth a helping...read more
Stunning performances, editing, cinematography and extremely unique
climax makes it a special film. Monotonous approach towards

TNLHG Review | Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya | Ritesh Deshmukh | Genelia D'souza | Atif Aslam

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya starts of with a wonderful romantic track Piya O Re Piya crooned by Atif Aslam and supported by Shreya Ghoshal. This song takes over you after 2 to 3 hearings. The interlude is marvelously sung by Atif and Shreya. This song will easily find acceptance from those who love melodious romantic numbers. Sachin - Jigar give a very promising start to the album. The remix version by DJ Suketu is equally good and gives that extra punch to the song. There is also a situational sad version.

Up next comes Mohit Chauhan who is the only reason which makes you fall in love with Jeene De. The song is a light and soothing number with good melody. The song has potential but Piya O Re Piya is far better. The song also comes up with an average Coffee House remix.

Sachin - Jigar surprise you again, this time with a lively Punjabi number Pee Paa Pee Paa, undoubtedly one of the best numbers. Sung by popular punjabi singer Diljit Dosangh and supported by Priya Panchal the song has an instant liking. Diljit sounds fresh and the lyricist has done a pretty good job. The Remix by VIP Records also gets full marks to convert the song into a total bhangra number.

When you just thought that the fun is never ending, an average number creeps in. Tu Mohabbat Hai is a romantic track sung by Atif Aslam, Monali Thakur and Priya Panchal but it fails to touch your heart especially when there is a superior love song already in the album. Even the remix by DJ Suketu does not help much in this case.

Sunidhi Chauhan's lively voice strikes the chord with Fann Bann Gayi, which is an out-n-out fun song. The music is peppy and the pinch of haryanvi lyrics does the trick in making this song zara hatke types. The remix version by VIP Records adds a new flavour to the song making it more interesting.

Sachin Jigar did a marvelous job with F.A.L.T.U last year and they repeat the same with TNLHG this year. The entire album is engaging and almost all the songs are good but Pee Paa Pee Paa and Piya O Re Piya take the cake.

This album is worth a go, recommended!

35-36 crore and given that it can easily
recover around 60-65% of that from satellite, audio and home video,
recovery of the balance 35-40% from India and Overaseas theatrical

itself. It will, therefore, prove to be a comfortable earner...read more
Other than slapping a local cop and politico, there is no other closure
given to the problem. One has seen enough of these issue-based satires
that offer no searing thought, no real perspective. The purpose of a
satire is not just to make you laugh, but in using the humour to
communicate a more vital and pertinent thought. In that context, Gali Gali Chor Hai is too shallow to qualify as a real satire. Agneepath 2012 | Movie Review | Hrithik Roshan | Sanjay Dutt | Rishi Kapoor

Agneepath - Movie Review

Agneepath tells the story of Vijay Dinanath Chouhan [Hrithik Roshan] whose sole mission in life is to kill Kaancha [Sanjay Dutt], who once cruelly hanged his father after framing him in a false rape case in his village Mandva. Vijay then was a kid and not as powerful as Kaancha, so he decides to wait until he is ready to get back at him. Fifteen years later, he finally gets his way into Mandva by double crossing Rauf Lala [Rishi Kapoor] who runs a mafia in Mumbai but was just a small time criminal and arch enemy of Kaancha when Vijay joined his forces a decade ago. How Vijay takes his revenge forms rest of the story.

The movie has the same storyline more or less as the original 1990's version with a
little bit of character shuffling. Agneepath has it's share of ups & downs. Boredom creeps in when the story of revenge lets the love track between Kaali [Priyanka Chopra] and Vijay hog in the screen space. This makes the movie lengthy and can easily be trimmed by half an hour. The movie is at all time high whenever Kaancha appears on screen and whenever Vijay confronts his enemies.

Karan Malhotra does well in the first half but he looses focus in the second. The revenge takes a back seat, romance, songs and emotions become priority that eats up a lot of run time leading to a hurried climax. The ease with which Vijay kills all of Kancha's henchmen, bombs his territory and reaches the main villain in a blink of an eye makes you think, if this was so easy why the hell he did not do this an hour earlier when he first time came to Mandva to finalise a deal with Kaancha?

Another loop hole is that though the final battle between good vs evil is great to watch but the way a badly wounded [with couple of knife insertions and bad hits] Vijay who appeared weaker than Kaancha in the start [when he wasn't wounded - fit & fine] suddenly gets the power to hit him harder despite his wounds and if that wasn't enough, he picks up the Hulk and throws him down in that state. Well, good had to win over evil - opportunity of cinematic liberty available. Opportunity of cinematic liberty, grabbed by both hands by the director.

Story had enough meat in it but the screenplay had loop holes, dialogues (especially those of Kaancha) were very good. "Tum Kya Laaye The, Tum Kya Leke Jaaoge" being the best.

The movie needs to be edited for atleast half an hour. Chikni Chameli turns out to be a life saver, so does Katrina, once again. Other songs especially Deva Shree Ganesha are good too but need to be edited length wise to decrease run time.

The magic of cinema lies in the fact that the same person which won your hearts with the character of Munnabhai couple of years ago can also create hatred in your hearts for him with the character of Kaancha. That is where a true actor wins. Sanjay Dutt is the man who has risen as the ultimate baddie of recent times with Agneepath. He hasn't got that as much success playing a hero (except Munnabhai) as while playing the Villain in recent times and this character is the most cruel and most gruesome Dutt has ever been on silver screen. He literally looks like a HULK in front of Hrithik Roshan. He is the real hero.

Hrithik has re-invented Vijay Dinanath Chouhan. He plays what he can play and the director gets full marks for not letting the character be influenced from Big B's Vijay. This Vijay shows less of style and more anger, more emotions. The anger in his eyes talks more than him. Though Hrithik gives his best, still Sanjay Dutt takes the cherry on the cake like most villains do. Even, in comparison of the Vijay's, Big B's performance was superior.

Rishi Kapoor, the cute Rishi Kapoor plays a baddie? Though he performs well since he is a seasoned actor still he shouldn't be doing such roles. Its impossible to digest Rishi Kapoor as a baddie just like you could not digest Big B playing the bad guy in RGV ki Aag or Aankhen and getting wacked by a bunch of new heroes. It simply doesn't suit their image though they have acted brilliantly in their respective roles.

Katrina Kaif is more noticable and noteworthy than Priyanka Chopra. Infact, the scenes which feature her consists of some of the most boring scenes despite a decent effort whereas Katrina features in for just an item number and steals all the thunder.

Om Puri is as sincere as he always is. The boy who plays the young Vijay and the girl who plays Vijay's kid sister are fabulous.

Overall, the movie is predictable but
entertaining, interesting but too-lengthy with lots of violence and
blood-shed. It has its share of merits and demerits still, its worthy
enough of one time watch. As far as the business is concerned, thanks to the craze, extended weekend and powerful opening, the movie is set to become a blockbuster.
Songs Review | Jodi Breakers | Salim Sulaiman | R Madhavan | 2012

Jodi Breakers - Music Review

Jodi Breakers pairs R Madhavan (who looks gung-ho after a solo-hit Tanu Weds Manu) and Bipasha Basu for the first time. The music is composed by Salim Sulaiman who have given some outstanding music for YRF Films in the past, this time too we expect the same outside the YRF banner. The music is penned by Irshad Kaamil who has written many hit songs in a short span of time. So lets check out what Jodi Breakers sounds like.

This Valentine's we have an amazing song for the single's to dance on. The Salim Merchant track Kunwara is already a rage. Though a pity that they tried to promote "the making of song" video something like Kolaveri Di did before the actual song video promotion with Salim crooning behind the mic (co-incidence? intentional? whatever!) still musically the song is spectacular. The song is fast paced, its peppy, its young and it touches a topic which fascinates the youth. Irshad Kaamil pens this song with some smart lines and makes it more interesting. The song is an instant hook-up, you fall in love with it on hearing it once. Great start for the album.

The next song title catches your eye because it's the name of the female lead. So there is a song called Bipasha in a movie which features Bipasha. Nothing new though since we already had a song called Urmila in a movie featuring Urmila Matondkar called Kunwara co-starring Govinda. This is undoubtedly another number set to bowl the boyz out. The song will of course heat up once Bipasha shows her moves in the video, but on hearing the audio, you will surely play it again along with Kunwara. The song though may not touch Chammak Chhalo or Sheila still its a good song which may gain enough popularity to benefit the movie. The Bipasha Remix number too sounds fun to hear but still originality rocks. Two back to back promising numbers.

The album changes mood with a slow song called Darmiyaan. It's the kind of number you usually hear from Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, but this time you have Shafqat Amaan Ali with Clinton Cerejo. The song is a heart breaker, not emotionally but due to what it delivers. The song may find some listeners who like sober slow numbers over flashy numbers. But, when you hear the song, you get the "heard it before" kind of feeling, but cannot pin-point a particular number because there are several numbers like Darmiyan which sound similar.
There is a Darmiyaan (Shreya Ghoshal) version specially made to fit a situation in the movie.

Salim Merchant returns behind the mic, this time for a slow sad number called Mujhko Teri Zaroorat Hai, but the singer has sung it with high energy to make sure this one doesn't make you fall asleep. To be frank, this song at best is situational but Salim's efforts make it worth hearing. The Mujhko Teri Zaroorat Hai (Rahat Fateh Ali Khan) Remix version is far more appealing since it has the much needed ingredients and pace to make it sound better than the original. Yes, there was a mention before for the song Bipasha that originality rocks but this is an exception, something like the songs Woh Lamhe (Zeher), Aadat (Kalyug) and Kya Mujhe Pyaar (Woh Lamhe) were in the past where the remixes of these songs were more popular than the originals.

Jab Main Tumhaare Saath Hoon reminds of Baby When You Talk To Me from Patiala House especially in the feel and mood, but still this song holds it's own. Crooned by Salim Merchant, Benny Dayal and Shilpa Rao, this song is just about average. Nothing to get excited about.

Salim Sulaiman hit both high and low in this album. While Kunwara and Bipasha are pick of the lot still Mujhko Teri (Rahat Fateh Ali version) and Darmiyaan are good enough to get this album high on merits.

Keeping in mind the current trend of music sales where song sales of a superhit number can cover-up for the album sales, Jodi Breakers has a few tracks set to roar.

Overall, Jodi Breakers as a music album is enjoyable despite few hiccups, you can always use the "skip" button on your remote when required.

Gurpreet Bhuller (Moviehattan.com) - 3.5/5
Overall, the movie is predictable but
entertaining, interesting but too-lengthy with lots of violence and
blood-shed. It has its share of merits and demerits still, its worthy
enough of one time watch...read more
AGNEEPATH is a fitting tribute to the masterwork. The movie has all the
potential to scale dizzy heights of victory and catapult Hrithik Roshan
as the newest member of the 100 cr Club, besides providing the Hindi
film industry with the first giant Blockbuster of 2012. A definite
winner!...read more

Rajeev Masand (CNN-IBN) - 3/5
It is in the end, an old-fashioned revenge drama treated in that
melodramatic, over-the-top style. You’re not likely to be bored by the
intense action and the solid performances, but prepare to be exhausted
by just how long this film plays on...read more
Innovatively
lensed, partly in Diu, Agneepath is a visual delight. But there's no
greater feast for the eyes than Katrina Kaif, who shakes and trembles in
delirious delight to the aptly-named track, Chikni Chameli. It's a
paisa vasool performance guaranteed to make millions of men happy, and
not just in small-town single screen theatres...read more
performances, fresh storyline despite a remake, Chikni Chameli song and

It's sad to watch a fantastic cast being underutilized. One has come to
expect a bravura performance from Naseeruddin Shah, but he's just about
okay. Kay Kay is mediocre as well -- again, a talent that deserved a
better deal. Atul Kulkarni is the best of the lot. Ravi Kishen is
tolerable. Zakir Hussain doesn't get much to do. Arbaaz Ali Khan is
wasted. Rajesh Sharma gives a good account of himself. Shweta Bhardwaj
has an inconsequential role. Ditto for Manoj Pahwa. On the whole, CHAALIS CHAURAASI is inconsistent. It could've done with a better script!...read more

Players 2012 | Movie Review | Bobby Deol | Abhishek Bachchan | Bipasha Basu | Vinod Khanna

Players - Movie Review

Remakes and Sequels are trending nowadays in Bollywood. Call it lack of creativity that remakes are being made or the formula of creating a money spinning brand name that sequels are being made irrespective of their relation with its original.

Players is an official remake of the 2003 Hollywood Hit The Italian Job starring Mark Wahlberg and Charliez Theron in lead. The desi adaptation has Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles supported by Neil, Bipasha, Omi Vaidya and Sikandar Kher.(Bobby Deol is completely sidelined, just a mute spectator like the one's watching, he is more visible in posters than the movie, no wonder he plays an ILLUSIONIST who disappears quickly)

Abbas-Mustan have been famous for creating the battle between good vs evil for decades now. The fun here is that the evil person here is actually is a famous lead hero who has a goodie goodie image in other movies and not the typical bad man. So for years, thanks to the Burmawala brothers we enjoyed the hero vs villain (anti-hero) battles, some of the recent are -

Bobby Deol Vs Akshay Kumar - Ajnabee (2001)
Bobby Deol Vs Akshaye Khanna - Humraaz (2002)
Saif Ali Khan Vs Akshaye Khanna - Race (2008)

While heroes turn villain in most Abbas-Mustan movies, sometimes the script that plays the villain in real life - the reason for failure just like 36 Chinatown, Taarzan and Naqaab.

The movie is not a scene-by-scene copy of the Italian Job, it's Indianized with new twists and turns borrowing elements from the original. Still, the screenplay sometimes falls flat. The plot is of a traitor who back-stabs his team and runs away with the stolen gold and how the team gets back at him and gives him a taste of his own medicine, something which the Hollywood Hit finished in 110 odd minutes Players takes its own time to add the routine item numbers, melodrama and a loop of flashbacks.

What makes Players enjoyable are moments of fun, exotic locales (awesome cinematography), some great action scenes and the portions borrowed from the original. Where it needed polishing was the average music, the details while planning a heist, smart execution and jaw dropping twists. Here, twists are pretty predictable even for those who haven't seen the Italian Job.

The focus is more on love triangles, bollywood masala, item numbers and melodrama that leaves less time for the detailed planning and execution of both the heists, ends up making them a pretty hurried up and messy job. Also, the jobs are not as believable as the original had and some big loop holes are there in execution, everything happens as the hero wants thanks to a convenient script.

Performances are nothing to rave about. Bobby Deol has done immense damage to himself by doing a role which is completely sidelined. He plays a character which does not have much importance and disappears after the interval. Hopefully, after this blunder he signs only meatier roles.

Abhishek Bachchan has had a torrid time with non starters. The horrific openings of his recent movies have shocked one and all. It was gutsy of the makers to have the entire promotion campaigns lead by AB Jr and also the movie on his, by now, not so strong shoulders. He plays a "Mastermind", the leader of the team but fails to convince. He has done far better roles like Guru and Yuva in the past and needs to deliver a stellar performance soon.

Bipasha Basu has one of the better roles which has shades of good and evil and she is just about fair. Sonam Kapoor tries to act. Better luck next time.

What could have been a great opportunity for Neil to portray a
baddie like SRK in Baazigar or Akshaye Khanna in Humraaz goes wasted
thanks to bad or say weird monkey like expressions and not so convincing portrayal of evilness. More than
showing his evil intentions, his character tries to be a smarty always
conveying that he is one-step ahead of the good guy and calls himself a
villain in the end just to confirm that he is the bad one.

As said before, Abbas-Mustan movies has always highlighted the hero vs villain battle but here both Abhishek and Neil disappoint as there ain't any fire between the rivalry, it's just plain cold.

Sikander Kher looks more like a Robot or say Arjun Rampal, expressionless. Nonetheless his fights with Omi Vaidya are amusing. Omi does delivers a few moments of laughter but he hams like hell. He has made himself typecast and has become the new Rajpal Yadav.

Vinod Khanna does a fair job in a cameo, so does Aftab Shivdasani and Shweta Bhardwaj.

Johnny Lever has few but the best scenes of the movie, hopefully we see more of this brilliant comedian soon. Some of his expressions are truly magnificent, just check out his gestures in the climax when he makes the baddies on bikes skid.

Players was ought to be a sleek stylish action movie. It is pretty sleek, it has style, good action yet there is something missing which disappoints you on conclusion, it's not hard hitting and you aren't surprised with the twists and turns.

You can easily sit through the run time, there is enough masala and decent amount of entertainment but Abbas Mustan have already raised the bar for themselves with hits like Baazigar, Humraaz and Race. Matching these hits was a tough ask for Players and sadly, it fell short.

Overall, Players is a timepass masala entertainer which falls short of expectations but can be watched once.

Ratings - 2.5 / 5 stars
Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu | Music Review [EMAET] | Amit Trivedi | Kareena Kapoor | Imran Khan

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu - Music Review

Amit Trivedi shot to fame with the musical score of Dev D (2009) but since then he hasn't come out with an album which matches the masterpiece he created two years ago. Wake Up Sid (2009) and Aisha (2010) are the only two commercially successful albums for the composer since Dev D. That too thanks to hit songs like Iktara (WKS) and Gal Mithi Mithi (Aisha) which carried both the albums to success. His other albums like No One Killed Jessica, Chillar Party and Udaan had just one or two good songs. Now, with Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, he again composes music for a rom-com after Aisha.

Being a Dharma Production with Kareena in lead and music composed by Amit Trivedi, EMAET carries quite a few expectations. The title track Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu gives a promising start to the album. The music is fresh, peppy and something which grips the youth. Benny Dayal, Anushka Manchanda & Shefali make this song sound fresh and vibrant. Benny Dayal seems to be on a roll, he always gets the best song of the album. The lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya is now getting monotonous, you can make out which song he writes, if he continues the same way he will get typecast soon. Even though Chinki Chameli has turned a big hit due to Katrina, his lyrics were criticized by many.

The next song Gubbare reminds you of the song Shaam from Aisha. In fact the first few seconds are almost similar. Sung by Shilpa Rao, Amit Trivedi and Nikhil D'souza, it is a pretty average song.

Aunty Ji is kind of a Desi-Elvis rendering just like Lets Rock from We Are Family. Ash King tries hard but is not that effective trying to do something like Elvis. For the song, it's nothing much to ride home about, though it's fun and may become popular till the movie releases, however, it lacks the punch. Still, it's way better than the previous number.

The fun ends and an element of sadness creeps in with Aahatein. A situational number sung by Karthik & Shilpa Rao. Still Trivedi gets marks for not making it slow and boring, the song has a constantly paced tempo, but that ain't enough.

The last original song Kar Chalna Shuru Tu somehow brings the album back on track. Though nothing incredible still Trivedi comes into his own with this number. Sung by Vishal Dadlani & Shilpa Rao this track may do well if promoted well.

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu Remix is one welcome remix after a long time. The song sounds far more appealing with increased tempo though its a routine remix. Both the original and remix title tracks are trump cards of this album.

The Aahatein Remix is just about okay. There was no need to have a remix of this track. May be the makers tried to do a Aadat (Kalyug) style remix to make a slow number catchy but it's no where close to it.

EMAET sounds more of an extension to the Aisha soundtrack. The only difference is that Aisha had a big hit called Gal Mithi Mithi. This album clearly misses a hit number. The title song is very good but not something which creates big waves, Aunty Ji too lacks the fuel.

Just like the recently released soundtrack of the Bobby Deol, Abhishek Bachchan starrer Players, EMAET has some good tracks but still it lacks a hit number which carries the album on its shoulders, similar to what Chikni Chameli has done for Dharma Production's other venture Agneepath.

Nothing too great, nothing too bad about this album, but we expect more than an ordinary soundtrack from Amit Trivedi.

In this era of digital sales, you need not bother about purchasing the whole album. If you are mad about the title track and Aunty Ji seems good enough for you, then give these songs a try.

Rating: 2.5 / 5 stars

PLAYERS rides mainly on the clout of its credible director duo
[Abbas-Mustan], daredevil stunts and stunning visuals. But, most
importantly, it is deficient of a captivating screenplay. Also, the film
could have done with judicious trimming for an enhanced impact. I for
one went in with colossal expectations, but came out feeling downcast

Abhishek once again reprises the character of Dhoom he seems to have perfected while Bipasha goes glam as in Race. But eventually, it is Neil Nitin Mukesh (Spider), the ultimate no-strings-attached man, wild gambler at heart with a twist in the soul and tango in the feet, who slam dances his way away as the ultimate crook. Direction by Abbas-Mustan, Cinematography and edgy plotline are the
strong points. Music, dialogues, performances besides Bips and Neil are
the weak points. On the whole, Players is not flawless but can be given a shot for once...read more
Don 2 | Movie Review | SRK | Boman Irani | Lara Dutta | Priyanka Chopra

In the last scene of Don 2, SRK cruises on a bike and when the camera focuses on the number plate you get a signal. So, what's the signal any guesses?

Well, the number on the plate was D O N 3. No, prizes for guessing that another sequel may come up soon, but what about Don 2 ? Well, lets check out.

SRK has always been successful when he has played the "bad guy", be it Darr, Baazigar or Don. In Don 2 also he plays the villain to perfection. The only difference here is that, this villain is against other villains and not the good guys. Don 2 shows the wicked side of Don but then towards the climax he is sought of deemed as the good one amongst the bad guys.

SRK [Don] gets Boman Irani [Vardhaan] out of jail only to take him to Zurich and make him a pawn in his master plan. Both of them move towards executing a bank robbery by blackmailing a top official Ali Khan [J.K.Diwan] and getting some help from a hacker Kunal Kapoor [Sameer] and few local goons led by Nawab Shah [Jabbaar]. Little does Don know that tables are going to turn and his enemies are going to get him good this time. Like always, Don is one step ahead. How does he execute the robbery and finish his enemies forms the rest of the story.

After checking out the Donisms and some great trailers you never expected Don 2 to end up as another bank robbery movie. Though the Bank robbery part is interesting still, you hope there is something much more in Don series. There is too much of coning and robbing happening in Bollywood now-a-days. Does not matter how sleek the presentation is, still you are a bit let down. The first half does not have anything interesting but the second half makes this movie watchable. All the planning and execution of the bank robbery and the double crossing with minor twists form a better second half.

The director Farhaan Akhtar has good control but he somehow does not take Don series to the level it is worthy of. Don was a remake and he did pretty well but adding a lovely twist in the end where its revealed that Don switched himself with Vijay in the hospital, it had shocking value, but the climax here does not catch you by surprise, though it makes you think a bit. However, still he directs a sleek entertainer.

The screenplay is superb but wish the storyline would have been more interesting. The dialogues are mostly good but some come out really awesome thanks to SRK's timing. The Donisms are good too but sometimes they look forced. The mediocre 3D conversion doesn't do justice to the action scenes and stunts.

Music does not play a vital part in the movie and thankfully there are just two songs. However, it misses the musical success which Don [2006] cherished.

If it was not because of SRK, Don 2 would not have been much fun. He changes shades like a chameleon and he is not only evil but also wicked. He understands the complexity of the character pretty well and does full justice to it.

Don 2 does not have a goodie goodie hero, if any one who is a pure angel here is Priyanka Chopra [Roma] but she does not get that much scope or any chance to show heroics. Lara Dutta [Ayesha] plays a blink and miss role, she is only noticeable in the Zaraa Dil Ko Thaam Lo song in the beginning. Hrithik Roshan appears in a cameo. He is just wow. He can play the Don whenever SRK plans to leave it. He is Don-ready he shows it in the 5-10 minutes of screen space.

Vardhaan is Boman Irani's darkest character, he mostly portrays grey roles. He is more of a traditional villain. While SRK is the good-villain who is destined to win, Boman plays the bad-villain always destined to lose. He does pretty well and is perfect foil to SRK.

Kunal Kapoor is just about fine as the hacker while Om Puri, Ali Khan, Nawab Shah and Sahil Shroff support well.

Don 2 is much better than some of the highly promising over-hyped crap movies released this year. Some of them went on to be big hits too. Still this one keeps you gripped most of the time and is sensible enough not to go anywhere wayward.

Overall, it's not bad for an outing this Christmas weekend. As any SRK fan would say "the KING is back".
Pappu Can’t Dance Saala is entertaining but upto a point only.
It will win more acclaim than box-office rewards because it cannot hope
to recover its cost from the few multiplexes it will work in. Its poor
start at most of the places is an indication of its ultimate box-office
Agneepath [2012] - Music Review

Agneepath has been in news since KJo had decided to officially remake the Amitabh Bachchan and Danny Denzongpa starrer. This remake has got great hype because various reasons. One being of course it's a remake, second the fact that Sanjay Dutt is the deadly Kancha and Hrithik is the new Vijay, third, since the theatrical trailer was released before Diwali, there are quite a few comparisons and the final reasons are Chikni Chameli and Katrina Kaif.

Hype is directly proportional to expectations, whatever marketing is done to sell the movie and music, may fall flat if the final product is not of good quality.

Despite being an action-thriller-revenge movie, there are good expectations from the music of Agneepath. Ajay-Atul have delivered pretty decent music for the action flick Singham this year. What does Agneepath have in store ? Lets find out.

Chikni Chameli is an official recreation of Kombadi Palali. Agneepath is an official remake too. So there is song remade in a movie that is remade. Clearly, no scope for novelty. So, while the makers are busy getting all the tried and tested formulas under one roof the output is still looks good. Ajay-Atul's superhit marathi song Kombadi Palali from Jatra was a fun dance number and it's recreated into a sexy item number which features Katrina's gorgeous moves. Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics however somewhat bring the downfall, it does not make it suitable for a wide audience. The music is not at all tampered or played with, this makes Kombadi Palali more enjoyable than Chikni Chameli when audio is concerned despite Shreya Ghoshal's singing efforts. Visually, Chikni Chameli spells magic due to a certain Kat involved. Musically don't expect a Sheila, Munni or Chammak Chhalo here because they were original (Munni was involved in controversies that it's inspired/copied but the musical composition was original). However, this song certainly will achieve the superhit status but it won't break the record of the trendsetters.

Suddenly, after the tried & tested remakes O Saiyaan brings the much required freshness as Roop Kumar Rathod returns with a bang. A slow but soulful track, that connects. Amitabh Bhattacharya has written some fine lyrics this time.

Gun Gun Guna is yet another fun song which makes itself notable not only because it brings back the long lost Udit Narayan but also because it is a feel good number. Sunidhi Chauhan has yet again sung brilliantly. Ajay-Atul have been impressive in their new compositions till now. Even if this song is not a long runner still enjoy it while it lasts.

With a typical Pathani tune starts Shah Ka Rutba, remember Qurbaan and Yaari Hai Imaan. Well, the song seems to be more of a situational track which is decent enough to listen. Too many singers, still Sukhwinder stands out. But many may skip to the next number. Still the composition is pretty good as the composers make sure that the album is not predictable and each number is different from the other.

Sonu Nigam returns with a song worthy of his voice. Ab Mujh Mein Kahin is a beautiful composition, the best by Ajay-Atul so far in terms of arrangements and patterns. If Chikni Chameli was the one for the masses, this one is for the classes.

Ganpati Bappa returns with Deva Shree Ganesha. Another song which will be heard a lot during Ganesh Chathurthi in 2012. Ajay-Atul of course had their barriers while composing the song, still like all the Ganpati songs, this song too will get the blessings of Ganeshji. Ajay sings well and the lyrics fit to the tee. Another good song in a satisfying album.

So, here you have a superhit but old wine in new bottle number Chikni Chameli, the feel good Gun Gun Guna and soulful numbers like Ab Mujh Mein Kahin and O Saiyyan which makes the album something more than what one expects from a Revenge movie. With the burden of expectations Agneepath carries, the music plays its part well and maintains the level of expectations.

You can easily put this soundtrack in the league of Ra. One and Dabangg where one song is the star while other numbers compliment it beautifully. Ajay Atul will cement their place in Bollywood with Agneepath. Hopefully, they compose an original anthem soon like they did for Jatra-The Marathi film.

Agneepath is undoubtedly the best work of Ajay-Atul, give these guys an applause.

Rating - 3.5 / 5 stars
LVRB | Movie Review | Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl Film Review | Anushka | Ranveer

Last year this week, Band Baaja Baaraat caught everyone's fancy despite being an above average yet endearing affair. What worked then was Anushka's performance, amazing chemistry between the lead, hit music and no expectation or the burden of performing on the director or the Team. The movie went on to become a surprise hit thanks to the extended run it enjoyed.

This time there are "some" expectations and of course comparisons to be made. The movie has to be strong on content or should have something novel to work. Maneesh Sharma with BBB succeeded in touching the Dilli-pan and earthiness with ample humour and light moments in a topic which is most popular and family oriented i.e. Weddings. Also Bittoo and Shruti, the amateur wedding planners, connected very well emotionally with the ordinary people.

The problem with Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl is it's wafer-thin plot which was easily revealed by the makers in 2 minutes of theatrical trailer. Ricky Bahl [Ranveer] who is on a conning spree for the past 15 years gets ready to be conned by 3 ladies [Parineeti, Dipannita, Aditi] and their salesman friend [Anushka]. What happens next? Well, the movie is too predictable and you get your answer soon enough or rather late enough in the second half.

The movie has great fuel for the first half hour to forty-five minutes but after that there is a steep fall. The movie loses it's charm and what comes in next is a tiring second half. Maneesh Sharma gets in the star of the movie Anushka too late for the liking, hence, all the humour, light moments in the start and best part in the movie is played by Parineeti and she does a marvelous job. Undoubtedly, she is the star as the blabbermouth punjabi kudi from Delhi.

Because of too many characters wanting screen space, there is no time for the chemistry between the leads to take place. Also, Ricky keeps conning girls without any reason and that too very conveniently for years without a single police complaint? Ok, the 3 girls have their reasons to hit back on the Con Man by conning him so they don't complain, but what about the other 27 ladies? Add to that, none of the cons are a result of smart thinking (like Badmaash Company), they are rather a result of convenient screenplay.

Con games should be either amazingly smart or truly hilarious to work on big screen but the con's in LVRB don't leave any impact.

Looking at the brighter side is the amazing music by Salim Suleiman and some great moments in the first half.

Anushka Sharma appears too late in the movie and does not have much to do, just listen to the orders of the 3 ladies in command. Her chemistry with Ranveer too, fails to strike the chord. Ranveer Singh is an amazingly superb dancer, no doubt about it. He shows that he is a dancing star in Aadat Se Majboor, but he does not excel that much when acting is concerned. His role is a dream for any star, forget new comer. But, he does have his moments, especially as Sunny and Vikram. As Deven he looks like a Clown and a complete Cartoon as Iqbal Khan. However, it's early days in his career still he is ahead of many, once his SRK hangover and the over-confidence from the success of BBB finishes he too can evolve as a good actor at least.

Parineeti Chopra, the bumbling punjabi kudi is the life of this movie. She has the best lines, the best reactions and the best character from the movie. She makes a superb debut and gives the seniors a tough competition. Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma too do their jobs perfectly.

If you take out the "conning", LVRB is somewhat similar to the plot of Bachna Ae Haseeno where the protagonist after hurting the girls unknowingly tries to make it up to the girls in the end after he too gets hurt by a girl he loves. So many movies, dozens of rom-coms every month, few hair line plots, this is ought to happen, when you think you have a novel plot, it's only until you find out that something remote has already been done before.

Don't expect satisfaction from LVRB like BBB, because during BBB the word "expect" was void. Here, you get entertained but it's at the cost of a predictable storyline.

All said and done, LVRB is enjoyable one-time watch thanks to some good music and some good acting especially by Parineeti Chopra. Just don't "expect" much and you'll be conned happily.

Ratings - 2.5 / 5 stars

LADIES VS RICKY BAHL is, at best, a decent fare, which appeals in parts.
The film starts well, even ends well. It's the in between that's plain
ordinary. One definitely expected more from the director of the
immensely likeable BAND BAAJA BAARAAT. Ideally, the film merits a
two-and-a-half star rating, but that extra half star is for Ranveer and
Anushka, who steal your heart with truly striking performances...read more
Ladies vs Ricky Bahl nosedives further post-intermission
because of script holes the size of craters. The trio of women tracks
down our hero way too conveniently, and you can’t help but question how a
seasoned conman could so easily be charmed into parting with his cash.
Doesn’t help either that the narrative is interrupted far too often with
unnecessary songs. It’s an easily watchable film with much to smile about. Pity…it could’ve been so much more fun....read more

Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl is a fair entertainer which will fetch
returns for the producers and the distributors. It neither charms
greatly nor cons the audience because it has its highs and lows. Around
60-70 per cent of the total investment of approximately Rs. 25 crore
would come from non-theatrical sources like satellite, audio and
video...read more
What
does work in favour of the film are its performances and its
non-hysterical tenor. The girls are a spirited lot and Ranveer is, well
Ranveer: your average Joe kind of hero who looks convincing enough as
Sunny, Deven, Iqbal, Ricky, his sundry avatars. Music by Salim Sulaiman
is ordinary. A word about Parineeti Chopra: cute...read more
Piyali Dasgupta (NDTV) - 2.5 / 5
Never really, because
the Band Baaja Baaraat team and director Maneesh Sharma wants to revive
Ranveer's crazy energy. So they give him plenty of moments to show off
his perfectly-toned abs (well-oiled and in Goa for good measure) as the
ladies he has recently conned – Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma and
Aditi Sharma – stake him out for revenge. Then the predictable story line
hits, with Anushka Sharma thrown in woman who can counter Ricky with a
con of her own...read more
