Sanjay Dutt offers his 5.5 crore Ferrari 599 GTB to Sharman for "Ferrari Ki Sawaari"

Bollywood Macho Sanjay Dutt has offered his Rs. 5.5 crore Ferrari 599 GTB to Sharman Joshi who is acting in a film by the name "Ferrari Ki Sawaari" produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Dutt has also offered to act as instructor so that the producer does not need to take on the services of a professional to ensure that the actor gets used to the ropes of driving this beauty.

Sanjay ensured that the Ferrari 599 GTB is at the actor's disposal round the clock for practice. Sharman though is cautious of using the Ferrari. However, both Vinod and Sanjay Dutt have assured him that it would be okay to take a chance and learn how to maneuver the vehicle.

"Ferrari Ki Sawaari" is the first film of Sharman as lead actor and he was grateful for Sanjay's generosity in not only lending him the vehicle but ensuring that he was comfortable in the driver's seat as well.

Well !! We already knew about baba's generosity. Big man with big heart :)

Haley is at the top of the list for being, thankfully, the least self-destructive young actor of the bunch. After his misdemeanor, he paid his fines and did his time, which were $1500 and 26 AA meetings respectively.

Corey Haim (article written before Haim’s death on March 10, 2010) and Corey Feldman starred in films together, grew up together and then, took drugs together. After their paring in The Lost Boys, the duo shared success in another couple of films, License to Drive and Dream a Little Dream, until Corey fever ran dry. They went their separate ways to seek their own successes, but the booze and pills followed. Haim was hooked on a number of prescription pills, gained a load of weight, lost a load of teeth and made several flop films. Edward, more commonly known as John Connor from Terminator 2 or Danny Vinyard from American History X, blamed celebdom’s easy access to drugs and money for his long-standing addictions. His antics under the influence, including driving drunk without a license and stealing lobsters from a grocery store, have landed him in handcuffs and addiction clinics numerous times. Now, married with a child, he hasn’t been to rehab in a while, yet with rumors of addiction still rife, it’s possible he’ll be back.

Now, Tatum, whose kids have been taken away, is attending drug treatment programs after an arrest in July 2008.

Brad’s path to self-destruction began after his intense portrayal of disturbed youngster, Mark Sway, in The Client. BMW 328 Hommage Concept Car Unveiled to Celebrate Brand’s Racing History

BMW 328 Hommage Concept Car

The BMW 328 is widely considered one of the 25 greatest cars of the century, such so that the Germany carmaker has produced a unique concept car to mark the 328′s 75th birthday.

Dubbed the BMW 328 Hommage, this ultra-lightweight sports car was built to mirror the principles used to create the original 328. The 328 Hommage weighs in at a svelte 1,720 pounds, accomplished through the use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic.

Many design elements are shared between both cars. The original 328 was one of the earliest BMW vehicles to show off the now familiar kidney grilles. Those grilles nearly jump off the face of the 328 Hommage. Out back, the wide-set taillamps help close off the wide stance that runs the length of both versions. The 328 Hommage also has no doors, just like the original. Instead, there are recesses in the side. Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre straight six engine, though BMW isn’t saying which fuel powers it.

Racing principals are used inside, too. The instrument pack, for instance, shows only engine speed, oil temperature, water temperature and oil pressure. Racing seats with four-point harnesses (and retro soft tan leather) are fitted, and there’s a motorsport-style emergency cut-off for the electronics.

The BMW 328 Hommage debuted this weekend at the 2011 Concorso d’Eleganza Village d’Este.

BMW 328 Hommage

(Press Release) – The BMW 328 is considered the most successful and best-looking sports car of the 1930s. The BMW 328′s success was the result of its design parameters – through the use of systematic lightweight construction, aerodynamic lines, optimum engine types and outstanding suspension technology, it laid the foundation stone for a new vehicle concept, by which performance only leads to success if combined with perfect harmonisation of all parameters and maximum efficiency.

With these characteristics, the BMW 328 was even then the embodiment of what the BMW brand still stands for today – dynamics, aesthetics and a high level of innovation.

This year, the dream sports car is celebrating its 75th birthday. The festivities will begin near Lake Como at the Mille Miglia. There, the main focus will be on the fascination of the BMW 328 racing car. To this day, the award-winning vehicle BMW 328 Touring Coupé still holds the record for the highest average speed on the Mille Miglia circuit and, in 2010, was again able to win the historic revival of the race. A week later at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the two-seater’s functional aesthetics will be the focus of attention. In this area of conflict between tradition and modernity, the BMW Group is paying tribute to the BMW 328 on the occasion of its anniversary with a special model – the BMW 328 Hommage. “With the BMW 328 Hommage, we wish to pay homage to the passion and inventiveness of the fathers of the BMW 328″, explains Karl Bäumer, CEO of BMW Group Classic. “They created an icon, which is considered a milestone in the history of the automobile.” The BMW 328 Hommage translates the principles and the character of the vehicle of that time into present times and offers a possible interpretation of how the designers of that time, Fritz Fiedler and Rudolf Schleicher, might have built the BMW 328 in the present day using current technology.

The BMW 328 – lightweight construction as a principle

The BMW 328 was also a special BMW insofar as the lightweight construction principle was systematically implemented on a BMW automobile for the very first time. Wherever possible, the lightest and at the same time most robust materials were used, thereby keeping the gross vehicle weight down to just 780 kilograms. In order to translate the idea of lightweight construction into this day and age, major parts of the exterior and interior of the BMW 328 Hommage are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). Whilst in the old days they favoured the materials aluminium and magnesium, CFRP is now considered to offer the best ratio between weight and stability. The high-strength fibre fabric is lighter than aluminium, but also more stable. Wherever the material has been used on the BMW 328 Hommage, it is also visible.

In this way, the BMW 328 Hommage not only reflects the lightweight construction principle functionally, but also visually. The BMW Group leads the way in the production and use of CFRP in automotive construction and already possesses many years of experience in the series production of CFRP roofs and structural components for the BMW M6 as well as CFRP roofs for the BMW M3.

Not only do the exterior and interior CFRP elements of the BMW 328 make an exceptional statement. The up-to-date implementation of the original vehicle character is also expressed in the choice of other materials used on the inside and outside of the vehicle. Fine leather, matt and high-gloss black polished aluminium as well as the CFRP interior visualise in the BMW 328 Hommage the pure and functional roadster character of the sports car of that day. Inside the vehicle there are also numerous details derived from motor racing, offering a hint of the BMW 328′s most successful motor sports career. For instance, the premiere of the vehicle in 1936 did not take place at a motor show, but on the race-track. In its first race, the BMW 328 declassified the entire higher-powered competition and dominated the racetracks of Europe during the years that followed.

Dynamics and lightness in the interior

The expressive exterior design of the BMW 328 Hommage depicts the modern interpretation of a highly emotional and dynamic two-seater Roadster – just like the BMW 328 75 years ago. “Hommage cars have a long tradition in the BMW Group. Based on our design philosophy “Rooted in history, moving forward in design”, they demonstrate the significance of history for the present.

Even 75 years ago, the BMW 328 stood for sportiness and agility through light-weight construction. The BMW 328 Hommage Car pays tribute to this past and shows how BMW lightweight construction will develop. Carbon is the material of the future.” (Adrian van Hooydonk) In keeping with its role model, the BMW 328 Hommage has a streamlined design and is clearly recognisable as a sports car. Precise lines run across all of the car body’s taut surfaces. As a result, a subtle contrast between the tense surfaces and the sharp edges is created within the flat, dynamic silhouette. The strong wedge shape accelerates the vehicle even when it is at a standstill, the scoops behind the seats take up the lines coming from the bonnet, guiding them dynamically into the rear end. The structure of the CFRP mats gives the vehicle an appearance of depth, the diagonal lines of the woven CFRP additionally underscoring the dynamic design vocabulary of the roadster. Thanks to concise weaving, the carbon structure is clearly visible, optically emphasising the lightweight construction principle. Like the first BMW 328 test vehicles, with which the model celebrated its triumphant debut on the racetrack in 1938, then going on to gain a number of further successes, the BMW 328 Hommage has no doors. Then as now, deep recesses allow access to the inside of the car. The extremely wide and flat front end is strongly three-dimensional, generous surfaces and concise lines give the front end a powerful appearance. Viewed from the front, the CFRP bonnet appears to encompass the vehicle from above. It embraces the vehicle, framing the slightly set back front end in a very distinctive downward sweep. Due to the almost vertical, low-reaching sidewalls, it simultaneously emphasises the BMW 328 Hommage’s excellent stability on the road. As a result, the vehicle appears to be even flatter and more dynamic as a whole. Under the bonnet, further surfaces rise to embed the top and bottom of the distinctive kidney grille, whilst folding themselves around it to shape the adjacent air intakes. Openings and large air intakes create visual lightness at the front, simultaneously demonstrating the high air requirement of the powerful three-litre, six-cylinder engine. Three-dimensionally designed lattices inside the front vents form a connection between the headlamps and the kidney grille, with the three-dimensional lattice structure acting as an accentuating feature.

Characteristic kidney shape

The vertically positioned double kidney grille imitates the slim, vertical kidney design of the early BMW models. In those days, the BMW 328 was one of the first BMWs to feature it, after which it became further established with later BMW models. On the BMW 328 Hommage, the vertically mounted kidney grille is dynamically incorporated into the flat silhouette. It slants back roughly in the middle, thus blending in with the bonnet and the dynamic silhouette when viewed from the side. On the other hand, from the front it appears to be standing upright. The kidney grille bars are more prominently curved than the kidney grille surround itself. The vehicle displays the extremely round and appealing design of the original BMW 328 kidney grille when viewed from the side. The kidney grille surround is also distinctively three-dimensional, appearing to continue inside the vehicle. Its front surface is finished in polished high-gloss, whilst the side surfaces have a matt finish. This detail gives the kidney grille a very high-class and up-to-date appearance. Behind the kidney grille bars, black horizontal fins obstruct the view into the engine compartment – just like on the 328 of 75 years ago.

Athletic rear end

The rear end takes on the design vocabulary featured on the front of the vehicle. Similar to the front end, sections of the sidewall form the framework for the design elements that appear to protrude from the rear end. Between them, located far to the outside, are two clearly and concisely designed taillights sporting the characteristic BMW L shape. Two filigree luminous elements reflect a strongly curved interpretation of the typical BMW L shape, whilst a concisely constructed bar fitted to the outside of the lamp is directed vertically downward, separating the lamps towards the outside. The modern functional design of the taillights underlines the technical appeal of the vehicle.

The powerful sculpturing of the rear end also visually conveys the BMW 328 Hommage’s lightness. Large vents and openings characterise the rear end, giving it a light appearance. The distinctively horizontal section below the taillights forms a counterpoint to the intense sculpturing, emphasising the width of the vehicle. Below that, the rear of the car is strongly arched, a concise line partitions the surface, thereby providing an air of lightness. This large sculptural element adopts the form language of the front-end design surrounding the kidney grille.

The wing-shaped element tapers both upward and downward, thus revealing two large latticed air outlets. The circular tailpipes are located inside these two openings. They protrude prominently out of the lattice and, combined with the distinctively designed wing shape of the lower air intake edges, underscore the power of the straight six-cylinder engine.

Details derived from motor racing

The interior design of the BMW 328 Hommage comprises a number of details that are reminiscent of the successful motor racing history of the BMW 328. For example, the slightly asymmetrically designed windscreen has a recess in the middle, similar to the windscreen design of earlier racing cars. Simultaneously, it marks the areas in which the driver and co-driver sit. Moreover, four wide leather straps run across the bonnet, which appear to dive under the side shoulder surfaces to be continued on the side. This detail, which used to be considered an extremely sporty attribute, is also featured on the BMW 328 Hommage. Combined with the high-gloss aluminium safety buckles, the leather straps provide a touch of class in contrast to the very technical-looking carbon fibre. The modern quick-release fasteners for securing the bonnet bring racing of the past into the present. On the driver’s scoop a large silver “75″ as well as a small logo below it signify the reason for the BMW 328 Hommage. Next to it, the integrated tank filler neck protruding from the right-hand side is a striking detail. Whilst it protrudes prominently from the body of the BMW 328, the BMW 328 Hommage features a version that is integrated slightly more into the bodywork.

The large, prominently designed individual round headlights of the BMW 328 Hommage are reminiscent of the headlamps featured on the BMW 328, which were integrated into the wings for the first time. The three-dimensional interpretation of these round headlights is divided into four transparent, cylindrical elements, these being back-lit by LEDs. Between them, set-back black concave surfaces symbolise the typical tape cross used on headlights in motor racing.

Around the four reflectors an illuminated ring emphasises the circular design of each individual headlamp.

The two-part light alloy wheels featured on the BMW 328 Hommage are a very special interpretation of the characteristic hole pattern of the original rims. The extremely concave high-gloss black aluminium rim boasts a contrasting silver-grey cover made of glass fibre. The insides of the angular milled holes have a high-gloss finish and are distinctively accentuated by a matt overlay. A black chrome butterfly nut bearing the BMW emblem completes the contemporary version of the wheel.

Clear and functional – the interior

The interior of the BMW 328 Hommage visualises the functional passion the BMW 328 exuded already back then. Thus the design of the interior is also pure and functional today. The entire interior structure is made of CFRP, conveying the lightweight construction concept of the BMW 328 into the inside of the car both visually and functionally. Due to the special application of materials, openings and freely suspended elements, the surfaces and different levels create an all-embracing feeling of lightness.

Through the use of CFRP inside the BMW 328, the “layering” design principle, with which shapes take on clear functions, adopts a completely new form of expression. Due to its exceptional characteristics, CFRP is in itself robust and can be shaped into self-supporting structures. Hence, only two large surface areas – so-called layers – define the interior of the BMW 328 Hommage. Both of them start at the bonnet and protrude into the interior. One of the layers extends towards the driver, reveals the entire driver’s workplace comprising steering wheel, control elements and scoop, thereby separating the driver and co-driver areas from each other. This spatial separation is indicated by a further material: the elegant, brown leather interior extends from the entrance across the driver’s area, over the seats to the scoop, thus becoming an integral part of the design vocabulary of the first layer. At the same time, the surrounding graphics comprising material and geometry create a link with the co-driver. On the driver’s scoop, a silver-coloured logo bearing the number 75 also gives indication inside the car of the festive occasion in honour of the BMW 328 Hommage.

The second layer begins next to the scoop, making a sweep towards the co-driver, then to float freely in front of him. This gesture creates a sporty but light sense of spaciousness, opening out a functional area in front of the co-driver.

Between the driver and co-driver a multitude of recesses in the instrument panel and centre console create an airy and harmonious spatial experience, bringing the driver and the co-driver slightly closer to each other again in a sweeping gesture. The lines of the woven carbon fibres complement the interior design vocabulary perfectly.

Viewed from above, a slightly asymmetrical design of the bonnet and windscreen underscores the driver-orientated construction of the BMW 328 Hommage. The windscreen is larger within the driver’s area, so the lines of the powerdome are of different length. Behind the windscreen they continue in the inside of the car, so that at this point both the interior and the exterior appear to be intertwined.

Authentic materials

Apart from CFRP, leather and aluminium, the interior deliberately features very few other materials. But every material that has been used is also visible. This provides the BMW 328 with a special authenticity. The contrast between the cool and technical-looking carbon fibre and the high-quality, warm brown of the leather characterises the interior. The exceptionally soft saddle tan leather has a fine grain and a slightly antique finish. On the seats the high-quality seam pattern enhances the appearance of the leather-covered seats even further. The seams in the centre of the sitting area of the seats and the silver-grey double-felled outer seams are a modern interpretation of the sports seats featured in earlier models, giving the seats additional character and depth. Aluminium is only seldom featured and, depending on where it is used, has a high-gloss or a matte satin finish.

Instruments and tripmaster

The instruments featured in the BMW 328 Hommage are both sporty and functional to an equal extent. The sparse instrument panel is dominated by the only round instrument – the prominently designed rev counter. Like the cockpit of the BMW 328 and typical of a sports car, the instrument cluster indicates in addition to engine speed only the oil temperature, oil pressure and water temperature. To the right of the rev counter, control lamps and a gearshift point indicator complete the instrument cluster. The instrument surrounds are finished in black chrome and made to the highest standards.

The puristic instrument cluster is complemented by the so-called tripmaster. The instrument panel of the BMW 328 Hommage is a fitted with two iPhones located in special holders and which assume additional display functions for the driver and co-driver. They are integrated into the self-supporting structure of the co-driver layer and, like the instrument cluster, are accommodated in a high-grade aluminium housing. The shape of the housing itself imitates the design of classic stopwatches, the two functions of the tripmaster being accessible through two further openings. Firstly, the iPhones function as stopwatches for measuring lap times and secondly as GPS roadbooks. Using two iPhones the driver and front-seat passenger/co-driver respectively can use both functions at the same time. After a journey, the iPhones can also be taken away in their holders.

Apart from the instruments and the tripmaster, the BMW 328 Hommage is also fitted with further features taken from motor racing. In addition to being equipped with just the bare essentials in order to save weight, the BMW 328 Hommage is also fitted with modern 4-point seat belts, ergonomic seats and the “bone”, a kind of emergency switch-off for the vehicle electronics, which is located between the two seats. This is a unique piece, a one-off, an even wilder gamble, a breathtaking expression of expertise providing a level of purity, colour, cut, finish and uniformity of the whole piece which is a truly rare feat.

More than 13,000 hours were needed to cut the stones (with 45 gemcutters working non-stop for 1 month), which then took 2,000 hours to set.

Each diamond in the piece could adorn a ring.

A secret project, the 2 MILLION € BB started life as a simple design hand-sketched around the table in Jean-Claude Biver’s office at the Hublot stand at BaselWorld last year, as a “light-hearted confidential challenge” between Hublot’s CEO and our master gemstone setters.

Finished the day before BaselWorld 2011 opened, it would take no less than 12 months to bring this exceptional piece to life, made up of 637 baguette diamonds and a rose cut diamond on the crown, and featuring a Vendôme Tourbillon movement to appeal to lovers of fine watchmaking.

A tour de force of patience and perfection, it was a long process. It consisted firstly of bringing the gemstones together, selecting them one by one to achieve perfect uniformity in terms of purity and colour (the diamonds selected by Hublot are of a remarkable quality, with colour graded as TOP WESSELTON and clarity of A VVS), then cutting each of them to the technical designs of the piece, and finishing by patiently setting each of them in a “Clou de Paris” setting, an extremely meticulous process, taking the master gemstone setters 9 months.

All the diamonds used in this watch come from the same mine, located in Yakutsk in the Russian Far East, on the same latitude as Beijing and a 9-hour flight from Moscow. More than 270 carats of rough diamonds were chosen from a lot of 1500 carats, and from these the stones used were selected. For about a month, the expert hands of 45 gemcutters worked hard to create 637 baguette diamonds, totalling just over 141 carats..

Today, at BASELWORLD 2011, the result is something which surpasses all expectations, a piece which crystallises the considerable creative and emotional investment, rendering it a true masterpiece, a perfect symbol of the fusion between jewellery and watchmaking.

Before going on to achieve its ultimate destiny, as hinted at by the two little Vendôme columns on its dial which symbolise the most beautiful place in the world, the ultimate symbol of international luxury, the piece shall first go on display in the Hublot boutique at 10 Place Vendôme. Bentley Achieves Record Sales for China

Bentley Motors this week (20 May) announced that it had sold a record 396 cars in Mainland China in the first four months of 2011. This shattered the previous record – which was set only last year – by a staggering 66%.

In 2010, Bentley sold just under a thousand cars in China – nearly double the previous year’s performance – making it the third most important single market for Bentley. But, after the first four months of 2011, China had outsold the UK for the first time making it the second most important market after the United States. Around one in four Bentleys sold globally, is now sold in China.

The result is all the more impressive considering the sales record has largely been achieved before the arrival of the new Continental GT and new Mulsanne – two new models that are already building large order books in the rest of the world. Sales expectations for the full year are therefore that this growth will accelerate as the new models land.

In recognition of the importance of China to Bentley, the Company is this week hosting its Worldwide Dealer Conference in Beijing. This is the first time that Bentley has held such an important global event in Asia and it will give all its dealers the chance to see just how rapidly this vibrant country is changing. The Dealer Conference is taking place at locations across the city ranging from the spectacular Bird’s Nest stadium to the ancient Tai Miao in the Forbidden City.

Everyone fears something. Whether it’s a child fearing the boogey man (bogyphobia) or even fear of the number 13 (triskadekaphobia). These two seem potentially unfounded fears, though there are real people who are particularly afraid of them. Certainly fears are crippling to the person with the phobia; however, there are also some potentially crippling fears that could halt someone in their tracks on a daily basis. To be included on this list, the reason for the phobia has to be something that a person can encounter every day. Don’t be afraid, read on. :)

10. Chronophobia

The fear of clocks might easily be overcome; however, the alternate definition of chronophobia is the fear of time. Time surrounds us, it binds us – sorry, Star Wars moment there. If a person were to rid herself of all reminders of time such as clocks that would be one thing. But fear has a way of creeping up on someone. As soon as she thought about the fact that time is slipping away, perhaps their sanity might as well.

9. Stasibasiphobia

Most people might think that couch potatoes have this fear of standing up and walking. It’s not true; most couch potatoes are just averse to the idea. However, a person with stasibasiphobia could very well never get anything done in life, unless he was confined to a wheelchair. But what happens if that person is afraid of someone else standing up and walking? Does that mean the phobic must live in isolation in a sitting position for the rest of his life? What a drag!

Most Americans want four walls, three meals a day and a bed to sleep on. Maybe the hermit with domatophobia should get together with the anthropophobic. Nope, that wouldn’t work, because the hermit is still a person. And don’t forget that never being able to speak or be around another person certainly wouldn’t do well for social skills.

4. Urophobia

From here on out, this list becomes phobias of functions that humans must do to survive. And that means that the phobias, such as urophobia or the fear of urination, would put a cramp on anyone’s life style. A catheter might be a stop gap measure as long as someone else would agree to change the phobic’s bag. Either way, everyone has to release bodily waste and this fear could make bathrooms a very unpleasant experience no matter where the phobic is.

3. Somniphobia and Clinophobia

While you don’t necessarily have to be clinophobic to be somniphobic, it doesn’t really matter once you realize that going to sleep is never an option anymore! A person with somniphobia fears sleep while a person suffering from clinophobia fears beds. I’m sure a clinophobic could just sleep standing up. However, humans need the REM cycles of sleep to help digest their everyday thoughts and activities. Without sleep, a person could, potentially, slowly go insane due to fatigue and too many screws loose in the noggin. We all have nightmares, but can you imagine having a waking nightmare about going to sleep?

2. Phagophobia

And the final piece of our American Dream is having three square meals a day. But what if you had phagophobia, the fear of eating? There are people – in hospitals – who live on liquid diets. But to go without food must be torturous on a daily basis, unless of course, you’re a phagophobic. It must be hard for a phobic like this to go out on a date since he would obviously not ask his date out for dinner. And the holidays must also get awful lonely without the company and great food!

1. Anemophobia

Catch your breath, especially if you have anemophobia, the fear of air. A person could be scared every moment of her life. Sure eating, sleeping and all the other fears on this list could cripple people on a daily basis, but not potentially for every moment of your waking life. There are a number of methods to counter phobias, all of which seem like they would fail miserably contingent on how paralyzed a phobic is of air. Outside of living in a bubble with a controlled atmosphere, nothing comes to mind to counter such a phobia. Even a little fresh air to help cleanse the mind wouldn't help in this case.

Nokia 5800 Review

The Nokia 5800 is often thought to be the first Nokia touchscreen mobile phone. However, in 2003 the Finnish company already launched the Nokia 7710 with a large touchscreen, and since then, no new models were added. This model did not become a success, partly due to the strange way of calling with this device. The microphone and the speaker were placed on the side, making it rather awkward to hold the cell phone. Furthermore, Nokia uses touchscreens on the Internet Tablets, so there certainly is some know-how of this technology available within the company.

At present, the 5800 XpressMusic is able to strengthen Nokia's portfolio and battle the touchscreen phones of other brands. Touch is hot business at this time, and combined with Symbian S60 software, it is also well-applicable. Nokia launched the 5800 XpressMusic as a genuine music phone; name-wise as well as the promotion campaign and everything else around it. The Nokia music phones of Nokia often seem somewhat limited when it comes to functionality, however, the specifications of the Nokia 5800 phone are pretty impressive. I am really curious as to how this Nokia music phone will perform, especially compared to competing cell phones.

'Music', that is Nokia's statement with the 5800 XpressMusic. The box is modest and colorful. "Nokia 5800 XpressMusic" is printed on the box a few times in large letters. Upon opening it, you don't actually see the phone straight away, there are a number of layers, and to find the phone you have to remove one layer. The Nokia 5800 handset looks nice but feels and comes across somewhat cheap. That said, the price is reasonable, so let's not make a point of it. The front features a touchscreen and three buttons. Furthermore, there are volume keys on the side, a slide bar to lock the buttons and a camera shortcut. Additionally, two covers are found, one for the memory card and one for the SIM card. Standard accessories are also packed inside the box; a battery charger, a headset, a data cable, a video cable, an 8GB memory card, a pouch, a stand, manuals, software and an extra stylus pen.

Menu of the Nokia 5800 Express music

The operating system of the Nokia 5800 cell phone is Symbian, which we often find on Nokia phones. For the Nokia 5800 it is Symbian S60 v5. At first glance you would not think of it as Symbian, since the well-known Symbian menu key is not there, and the icons are very similar to the standard Nokia menu structure. When using it, however, it is clearly the extensive and pleasant structure of Symbian. Most Symbian operated cell phones are slow; opening applications and simply surfing the menu generally takes a lot of time. However; the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic differentiates itself; the menu is smooth and quick as lightning. It is perhaps the most pleasant Symbian phone I have ever worked with, apart from the E71, but on the latter the menu was graphically a bit poorer, in my opinion. The menu is accessible through the menu key below the touchscreen. Thirteen icons will appear containing all functions. The menu is clear and well-structured, the icons are pleasantly large and the text is easy to read.

Touchscreen of the Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic

Due to the fact Nokia has not yet launched that many touchscreen phones on the market, we will delve a little deeper into the touchscreen of this Nokia XpressMusic phone. The 3.2 inch display has a 640x360 resolution. This is quite a good resolution, only the screen is fairly small. That is why it only has 360 pixels instead of the 480, for example, of the Touch HD by HTC. Almost the entire operation is carried out via the screen, there are only the menu button and the keys to answer and end a call below the screen. The monitor responds well and is also easily operated with your fingers. You do have to apply a bit of pressure, while it does not suffice to touch or slightly tap it. The phone offers feedback through a slight vibration upon being touched, like we have come across with other touchscreen mobile phones. This is great because it gives you the feeling you are actually pressing something. The Nokia 5800 carries a stylus pen integrated in the back cover. This stylus pen feels like plastic, as well as very vulnerable, which is why I prefer working with my fingers. It is hard to insert the stylus pen or to take it out of the phone while it is hidden in the back cover.

Playing multimedia files

Naturally, multimedia is an extremely important feature on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. In addition to the standard access through the main menu, you can also use a shortcut to gain access to your multimedia files. This button is placed top right of the touchscreen, and always easily accessible, handy. When pressing the shortcut, a submenu opens featuring five icons. The music player is fast and looks neat. Opening and skipping files from the memory card is carried out without loading time. If available, the album cover is displayed, and the music is neatly arranged. Pressing the button 'update library' once arranges all the music again. The built-in speaker is able to play the music at a reasonable volume, it's only when you turn it up that you will hear a somewhat metallic sound, just like on many other mobile phones. However, I can live with it, and you can always use the included headset with remote control if you like. You can also use your own 3.5mm headset on the phone or in the remote control.

Nokia 5800 digital camera

The built-in digital camera of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic music phone features a resolution of 3.2 Megapixels and a Carl Zeiss lens. Reasonable specifications, although not the most impressive ones at present. Yet, I am very pleased with the camera and the camera application. The camera opens quickly by pressing the shortcut briefly, wherever you are in the menu. The fact you don’t have to return to the main screen and you don't have to press the key very long, means that you will always be pretty fast in taking a picture. Sometimes, especially in somewhat darker circumstances, it is hard to decide the composition, seeing as only two thirds of the screen function as a viewfinder. Capturing a picture is also very quick. Pressing the shutter release slightly carries out a fast focus, whilst pressing down the button completely captures the picture directly. It's also thanks to the key lock bar on the side that the phone is very useful for taking a quick snapshot. Simply remove the key lock, press the shortcut and there you go. It's an excellent application.

As mentioned before, there are some shortcuts standard placed next to the viewfinder, among which is the camera settings shortcut. Activating or deactivating the flash is done quickly, but for the additional options you have to dive into the menu. The menu works excellently, better than other Symbian applications without touchscreen. The way it is carried out now is simply a lot clearer. The only thing that is a pity is the fact that the scene mode is not confirmed immediately; you open the menu, go to the scene mode and make your choice. This choice is then selected, but you won't directly go to the viewfinder, the menu has to be closed by two actions. This is a minor disadvantage, however, and everything else is both excellent and fast. ISO values can also be adjusted, although it only provides three options: Low, Medium and Hi. A lot of noise becomes visible quite soon. Generally, the auto mode obtains the best results.

Quality of the Nokia Xpressmusic photos

In addition to ISO values, also white balance, color effects, contrast and sharpness settings can be adjusted. The quality of the pictures certainly surprises too. For a phone that does not have the camera as its most important feature, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic makes outstandingly good pictures. And what's even more important; making pictures is also very pleasant. It is a clear application which can be activated fast and is able to capture a composition quite well with little delay. There is also a dual LED flash available that comes in handy during the evenings. It responds quickly and has quite an effective range. If you view the full resolution of the pictures, you may come across some minor flaws, but in general the result is a very nice surprise indeed.

Built-in GPS with Nokia Maps

The built-in GPS antenna enables you to always locate your position with the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. You will not be able to standard use the navigation function. The application Nokia Maps is preinstalled but works similar to Google Maps. If you purchase a license, Nokia Maps can be used as voice navigation system.

Microsoft Office files

Thanks to Symbian on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, you can also open Microsoft Office files on the handset. This goes for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. In addition, Adobe PDF is supported. Unfortunately, however, you can only open the documents, not edit them.

Nokia Lithium Ion battery

The standard included 3.7V 1320mAh Lithium Ion battery provides an acceptable standby time. According to the specifications, a maximum standby time of 408 hours and a talk-time of 9 hours should be possible. However, the standby time of this Nokia 5800 mobile phone strongly depends on the applications used. If you listen to music a lot and take many pictures, the battery will run out in one day. I read somewhere that everyone is responsible for its own destiny and career growth. You must know what you want and must have a plan to achieve it. In order to make that plan achievable one must determine what skills and expertise are needed. And it’s the individual responsibility to acquire those skill and experience. Your company doesn’t have any plan for you. So don’t expect anything from them.

Unfortunately in our country we lack research base culture in our university or even in organizations. There is no guidance at University level to assist their students to set the career path for themselves, they merely prepare there students to produce the replica what has been taught in the class. So trick is, as soon as possible, in academics one should determine his/her potential, set the career plan and streamline ones time and resources to achieve that goal.

The college students and graduate internship hunters jumping into the candidate pool with the unemployed who have already earned their degrees but now view an internship as a potential key to a successful search. If you announced an intern search you have undoubtedly received twice as many resumes as you did for the same spot a year ago. The applicants seem more qualified and ready to jump right in to fill holes in your staff. From the organization’s point of view, so many people, so few spots, it should be easy to find someone willing to take on the position and work for free.

In dealing with rejections, and keep in mind that it isn’t all or nothing. If you don’t get this particular job, it doesn’t make you a failure. It just means there’s a different job out there that the universe has in mind. And the more you experience rejection, the better you’ll handle it. Never ever think of giving up. Winners never quit and quitters never win as the old saying goes. Take all negative words out of your mental dictionary and be aware of what you are saying at all times, focus on the solutions with utmost conviction and patience. Remember that

Wateen Telecom has launched its WiMAX services in Pakistan. It is the largest and the first nation worldwide WiMAX 802.16e network nationwide in 22 cities of Pakistan. Connection are available from 256kb to 1Mb. Wateen Telecom of Pakistan is using Motorola’s WiMAX kit as a broadband access.

The World’s Largest Private Ambulance Service:

The Karachi-based Edhi Foundation ambulance service, already the largest private ambulance service in the world, looks set to expand further in Pakistan with the purchase of another 150 vehicles this year.

World's 2nd Largest Salt Mine:

Khewra salt mines are the second largest salt mines in the world, outdone only by Wielicza salt mine in Krakow, Poland. Khewra salt mine has estimated total of 6.678 billion tons of rock salt deposits. The current production from the mine is 325,000 tons salt per annum. This reserve could not be consumed in 400 years even at the rate of 0.5 million tons production every day. It must also depend on how much salt is extracted every year.

World's 2nd Largest Coal Reserve:

The Pakistani province of Sindh has an estimated 175 billion metric tons of coal reserves in the Thar region. It is estimated that these coal deposits can be utilized to generate more than 100,000 MW of electricity that will address the country's power requirements for up to several decades. Presently, coal accounts for only 0.1% of the total power generated in Pakistan, while the world average is 40%.

World’s 3rd Largest CNG User:

Pakistan has become a leading country in Asia and the third largest user of CNG in the world after Argentina and Brazil. About 700,000 vehicles have been converted to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the country by March 2005 as compared to 450,000 vehicles during the same period last year, showing an increase of 56 percent.

World's 4th SMS Usage Country:

In addition to being 4th heaviest user country of SMS, the Pakistanis have taken an unusual lead in telecommunication: the largest text messaging growth in Asia Pacific. With Pakistan's 763 million messages sent during the "festive seasons", the top five countries with the highest SMS traffic processed over the festive season were the Philippines, again leading the ranking with 2.36 billion messages, closely followed by Indonesia (1.193 billion), Malaysia (1.075 billion) and Pakistan (763 million). In terms of year-on-year growth, Pakistan SMS Text traffic volume grew by 253 percent compared to last year during the same period. Other markets that experienced high messaging growth include Philippines (65 percent), Australia (57 percent), Indonesia (27 percent) and Malaysia (13 percent).

World's 4th Largest Milk Producer:

Pakistan is the world's fourth-largest milk producer, and Asia's second-largest, behind India, so the location of Nestlé's latest investment is fitting. Nestle has made Pakistan the home of world's largest ever milk production plant. The 2 million-litre-a-day Punjab-based milk processing facility will rise to over three million liters in coming years. Since Nestle started investing in Pakistan 18 years ago, the company has established the country's largest milk collection network.

World's 4th Largest Cotton Producer:

Pakistan as the fourth largest cotton producer, third largest cotton consumer, second largest importer and with fourth largest cotton area. Real performance is counted in terms of yield per hectare and Pakistan has yield around Kgs 650 per hectare lagging behind dozens of countries.

World's 5th Largest Copper and Gold Reserves:

The Reko Diq is a large copper-gold porphyry resource on the Tethyan belt, located in the dry desert conditions of southwest Pakistan within the remote and sparsely populated province of Balochistan. The Tethyan belt is a prospective region for large gold-copper porphyries. As of December 31, 2007, Barrick’s share of measured and indicated and inferred resources are 3.7 and 10.5 million ounces respectively. Barrick’s share of measured and indicated and inferred copper are 4.3 and 13.4 billion pounds respectively.

Reko Diq is a giant copper and gold project in Chaghi, containing 12.3 million tons of copper and 20.9 million ounces of gold in inferred and indicated resources. The copper-gold deposits at Reko Diq are believed to be even bigger than Sarcheshmeh in Iran and Escondida in Chile. The Reko Diq copper deposits which are in the neighborhood of Saindak copper project, is four times larger in copper ore tonnage than Saindak. The most credible international surveys suggest that Reko Diq is one of the biggest undeveloped copper projects in the world with over 11 billion pounds of copper and nine million ounces of gold.

According to the 2008 BP Statistical Energy Survey, Pakistan had 2007 proved natural gas reserves of 0.85 trillion cubic metres, with the major gas-producing fields being Sui in Balochistan and Mari in Sindh.

World's 9th Largest Wheat Producer:

Pakistan’s average wheat production is 17,628 TMT, making them the ninth largest wheat-producing nation in the world. Pakistan is also a major consumer of wheat. Their average domestic consumption is 19,951 TMT. Pakistan also has an import average of 2,351 TMT of wheat, while they export, on average, 74 TMT.

Pakistan has the highest growth rate of mobile connectivity with cheapest call rates across all around the world. Pakistan is the 9th largest mobile users country in the world. Infact, Pakistan has the highest mobile penetration rate in the region. The number of the users of mobile phone in Pakistan has reached from 0.3 million to about 90 million during the last eight years. According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the ratio of mobile phone users all over the country has been increased from 0.22 percent in 2000 to 54.70 per cent in June 2008. As per PTA, there are 91.44 million mobile subscribers as of March 2009 out of the country’s population of 165 million while they were 306,000 in 2000.

World’s 10th Toyota IMV Vehicles Plant:

Toyota Motor Corp will start local production and sales of its IMV global strategic vehicle in Pakistan. The business daily said Pakistan will be the 10th country in which the world's second-largest automaker has set up a manufacturing base for the IMV.

World's 12th largest Rice Producer:

Pakistan is the 12th largest rice producer country in the world and 8th in the Asia with 8.1 million tons.

Only few countries in the entire world are lucky enough to have that much resources but i dont understand that why are we at this stage? We can't blame our government or our leadership for everything. When we could force the Government to restore the Chief Justice then why we can't force to use these resources at their best potential to make Pakistan even better?? We'll have to think about it.

UK UNREST - London Riots: BBC Interview Gets Testy

With all the facts so far known about the London riots -- 700 people arrested, 16,000 police on the streets, unrest in half a dozen cities over four long nights -- it's surprising how little has yet to emerge about the rioters themselves: What are they after? What drove them into the streets, for four nights straight, to burn buses and shatter windows?

Earlier Tuesday, the BBC interviewed Darcus Howe, a 68-year-old radical West Indian writer and journalist from Brixton, where some of the most violent disturbances took place over the last couple of days. Faced with a stern and flummoxed interviewer, Howe offered a rare, unvarnished glimpse into the mind of the young people in the streets this week, describing the regular mistreatment exacted upon his sons and grandsons by the police.

"Our political leaders have no idea, the police have no idea," Howe said, of the level of frustration and discontent among the youth in England.

"I don't call it rioting, I call it an insurrection of the masses of the people," he added. "It is happening in Syria, it is happening in Clapham, it is happening in Liverpool, it is happening in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, and that is the nature of the historical moment."

"Do you condone what happened in your community last night?" the interviewer, Fiona Armstrong, asked Howe, over the course of an exchange in which she cut him off several times.

"Of course not! What am I going to condone it for?" Howe replied. Later, after she accused him of taking part in riots in the past, he said, "Have some respect for an old West Indian negro instead of accusing me of being a rioter."

My Views !!

First of all, i pay my conduclance to deaths occured in between these protest/riots or may be a begining of soft revolution or what ever you say it.

Here is must say, british politicians and specially media should now really head towards theirselves, and their locals, instead of putting nose to others business and just criticising others.

UK, If this could be happen in Pakistan or other country, that would be considered as an ACT OF TERRORISM, or according to BBC "KARACHI UNREST" even that whole nation would be blamed a "Terrorist nation" BUT.............. this time its UK-LONDON so BBC and Western media wants to keep it slow, keep it calm and they are actually trying to HIDE it..like nothing happened at all. Tun on BBC at the moment, you'll found out like there are so many other important issues/happenings around the world and everything is so peacefull in their own local area.

one more thing i have noticed on this, western media keep calling it minority issue or "black people's issue" but i think actually it isn't. we can see videos here and all over youtube, those are not only "black people". I considered them Blind and Fools, who calls it "lack of communication" or "miss understanding" to any ethnicity. I think that was just the frustration that had to blow up one day. frustration of unemployment, univercity people in england are so scared to go out these days, whether they are Muslims, Christians or so called "blacks", no body is safe and not only in England, it goes to other cities as well. Personally i think this is not just a "death of a black guy", this is a kind of volcano that was build this is London'iers due the same hypocritical thought of politicians and elite class of mentioned city. London is no more that peaceful and civilized London now.

I wish, everything become alright as soon as it can because no matter what happened, all those damages belongs to people hearts and souls.. and that is not forgivable.
