without electricity as of 11:30 a.m. this morning following a severe storm
that hit the KUB service territory early Tuesday evening. At the height
of the storm there were approximately 127,000 customers without power throughout
KUB's service area.

following severe storms that passed through the KUB service area
Wednesday night. The outages continue to be scattered throughout KUB's
service area. KUB will continue to work non-stop to restore power to all customers. A
total of 40 KUB and contractor crews have been working to restore power
throughout the day, but due to the extent of damage and the nature of
work involved in those remaining areas, restoration efforts will last
throughout the weekend. At the height of Wednesday's storm, more than

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra
will conclude the 2010-11 Chamber Classics season with an afternoon of
Baroque music on Sunday, May 8 at 2:30 PM at the Bijou Theatre. KSO
Music Director Lucas Richman will conduct this concert.
The concert will open with Goldberg's Trio Sonata in C Major. (This
work was formerly attributed to J.S. Bach, but contemporary musicology
has determined that the work was actually composed by one of his pupils,
Johann Gottlieb Goldberg.) This work will feature principal quartet
members Miroslav Hristov and Edward Pulgar on violin and Andy Bryenton
on cello. Carol Zinavage will also join on harpsichord. Next, Kathryn
Gawne, viola; Carol Zinavage, harpsichord and Steve Benne, double bass,
will perform Bach's Sonata for Viola de Gamba and Harpsichord No. 3 in G
minor. Steve Benne will then join the Principal Quartet for Vivaldi's
Al Santo Sepolcro. Following intermission the Chamber Orchestra's
string players will perform Handel's Alcina: Overture, Purcell's

Members of the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra Association are
gearing up for their second performance of the season. The Jr.
Philharmonia, Philharmonia, Sinfonia and Youth Chamber Orchestra will
perform a FREE concert on Monday, February 21 at 7:00 PM at the
Tennessee Theatre. The Youth Orchestra will perform a FREE concert on
Sunday, February 27 at 7:00 PM at the Tennessee Theatre. This
performance will feature the winners of the 2010 Youth Orchestra
Concerto Competition: Cameron Lugo and Jerry Feng.

KNOXVILLE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA OFFERS A MUSICAL STORY TIME

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will continue its Library Tour with
string quartets traveling to local libraries during the month of
February to read stories and play music for pre-school aged children as
part of the orchestra's Story Time Program. The theme for this season's
program is Happy Birthday KSO! The program will open with a reading of
the KSO's recently published book Better Than Cookies, As Good As Cake,
written by KSO cellist Stacy Nickell Miller. The book introduces
string instruments by telling the story of a young girl who receives a
violin. She finds that the sound that her violin makes, both alone and
as part of a string quartet, is better than cookies and as good as cake.
The characters in the book, illustrated by Stephen Brown, are loosely
based on members of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Pre-school
children will then learn about the "treats" that animals eat in The
Wide-Mouthed Frog, hear Dr. Seuss's Happy Birthday To You! and join in
wishing the KSO a happy 75th birthday! These performances will help to
highlight the connections between music and literacy and introduce the
string instruments to young audience members.

Two long-standing events in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The first of three finalists, Gabriel Lefkowitz, will join the Knoxville

at the Tennessee Theatre, as well as a solo recital on January 24 at the
