The key, according to Musk, is redesigning SpaceX’s rocket system to make it more effective for work in Earth’s orbit. Meet the BFR, the new rocket of the future.

“We now think we have a way to do it,” Musk explained. “Which is to have a smaller vehicle, still pretty big, but one that can do everything that’s needed in the greater Earth orbit activity. Essentially, we want to make our current vehicles redundant. We want to have one booster and ship that replaces Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, and Dragon.”
The unofficial nickname for this rocket is the BFR — the first and third letters stand for “Big” and “Rocket,” if that helps. Its planned payload capacity is 150 tons, greater even than that of the Saturn V that launched the Apollo astronauts toward the moon.

The presentation didn’t offer any specific facts and figures on how this would all work out, but the basic idea is straightforward enough. It offers the clearest indication yet of how SpaceX looks to take the small steps necessary to make its giant leap to Mars a real possibility.

Differences between iPhone X Face ID and Samsung iris scanning

At the September 2017 Apple event, the iPhone X was revealed. It seems like Apple went all out on its "Anniversary" model, and one of the new features is Face ID.

Unlocking your phone with your face isn't exactly new. Android has had the feature for a while, and Samsung has used a special iris scanner since the Galaxy Note 7. But Apple is doing things very differently, as it is wont to do. Rather than use a pattern to create an unlocking token, Apple is using the shape of your face. And it has some pretty specialized hardware in place to do it.

I haven't used the iPhone X just yet, but this is an area where I have a good bit of experience. Modulated acquisition of spatial distortion maps, then turning the acquired data into something a piece of software can use as a unique identifier has been around for a while, and products you have in your house right now were built, packaged or quality-checked using it. I've been involved in designing and deploying several systems that use depth image acquisition to sort produce (apples, peaches, plums, etc.) by grade, shape, and size and understand how the technology used in Face ID will work.

Android's facial recognition

Face unlock debuted on the Galaxy Nexus in 2012.

Unlocking your phone with your face has been part of Android since version 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. This is the least complicated and least secure of the three things we're comparing.

Using the front facing camera, your Android phone can grab an image of your face and Google's facial-recognition software then processes it to build a set of data based on the image. When you hold the phone to your face to unlock it, an image is collected, processed and compared to the stored data. If the software can match both of them, a token is passed to the system so your phone will unlock.

Face unlocking came to Android in 2012, and Samsung has made it much better on their newest phones.

The data isn't sent anywhere and is collected and processed all on the phone itself. It is stored securely and encrypted, and no other process is able to read the raw data. Android face unlocking also doesn't need any special lights or sensors or cameras — it uses the same front-facing camera you use to take selfies with.

Samsung has improved the experience with the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 phones by starting scanning as soon as the screen is tapped, and the processing is faster and more accurate because of the better camera and CPU. Face unlock on the Galaxy S8 is fast and generally works well once you get a feel of how to hold the phone while you're using it.

The biggest problem with face unlock is that it's not secure. It's not advertised as being secure, even by Google or Samsung. It's a convenience feature that was built to showcase (and refine) Google's facial recognition algorithms, and a printed photo of your face will defeat face unlock.

Thankfully, Samsung also offers an alternative way to recognize your face.

Samsung's iris scanning

Samsung first brought iris scanning to the Galaxy line with the Galaxy Note 7. Having a computer scan your eyeballs to authenticate you is something we've all seen in movies, and it is used for secure entry in real government facilities. Samsung is using the same concept with its iris scanning system, just scaled back so it can work faster and work with the limited resources of a smartphone. It's more than secure enough for your phone, even if it's not 100% foolproof.

Every eye has a different pattern, and your right eye is even different than your left.

Every eye has a unique pattern in the iris.Your left eye even has a different pattern than your right. Iris patterns are actually more distinct than a fingerprint. Because every eye is unique, Samsung is able to use your eyes to identify you and act as your credentials. These credentials can be used for anything a fingerprint or even a passcode could. You hold the phone so the special camera can see your eyes and your phone will unlock.

To do this, Samsung is using specialized hardware on the face of the phone. A diode emits near-infrared light and illuminates your eyes. It's a wavelength of light that humans can't see but it's fairly intense and "bright." Near-infrared light is used for two reasons: your pupils won't contract and you'll have no change in vision, and it illuminates anything with a color pattern better than the wavelengths we can see. If you look closely at your iris you'll see that there are hundreds of different colors in a distinct pattern. Under near infrared, there are thousands of colors and they contrast with each other very well. It's just better for grabbing an image of your iris, because even though you don't see any of this, your phone can and uses it to build a dataset.

Samsung uses near-infrared light and a special camera to collect and process data about your eyes.

Once the iris is illuminated, a specially tuned narrow-focus camera grabs an image. The regular front facing camera on your Galaxy S8 could register color information under infrared illumination, but it wasn't designed to do it. That's why a second camera is needed.

This image is analyzed and a distinct set of data is created and stored securely on your phone. All the processing, analyzing and storage of the data is done locally and is encrypted so only the process of recognizing your iris has access to it. This data is used to create a token, and if the iris scanner process provides the right token a security check was passed — those are your eyes, so any software that needs your identity is able to proceed.

Of course, Samsung also collects some data about your face using the normal front-facing camera. Most likely, the facial data is used to help position your face so the iris scanner has a clear view.

There are some inherent drawbacks. Because using iris scanning to unlock your phone needs to be very fast, not as much data is collected about the pattern in your eyes. Samsung had to find the right balance of security versus convenience and since nobody wants to wait five or 10 seconds for each scan, the iris scanning algorithms can be fooled with a high-resolution photo laser printed in color and a regular contact lens to simulate the curvature of an eye. But, honestly, nobody is going to have a photo of your eye that is clear enough to unlock your Galaxy S8 or Note 8. If they do, you have a much bigger problem on your hands.

Samsung's iris scanning works well as long as your eyes are in the 'sweet spot.'

The bigger issue is accuracy. Enough of your irises need to be analyzed to pass the software check, and because the camera that grabs the image for recognition has a very narrow focus there's a "sweet spot" your eyes need to be in. You need to be in that sweet spot long enough to pass the checks. The system is of no use if it doesn't collect enough data to prevent someone else's eyes identify as you, so this is just how it has to work.

It's a good system as far as biometric security goes, and for many it's great. Only your eyes will work (ignoring the off chance some spy agency has photos of your eyeballs) and it's fairly fast. You just have to learn to use it correctly — and yes, that typically comes as a result of many times holding your phone unnaturally high with your eyes wide open.

Apple's Face ID

Apple has entered new territory when it comes to biometric security on a phone. It wasn't so long ago that you needed specialized lighting, multiple cameras with special lenses and a very expensive image processing computer board for each of them to collect enough shape data for unique recognition. Now it's done with some components on the face of the iPhone X, Apple's new A11 chipset, and a separate system to crunch the numbers.

Face ID projects an intense infrared light to illuminate your face. Just like the light used by Samsung's iris scanner, it's a wavelength a human can't see but it's very "bright." It's like a flood light — an equal amount of light across a wide area that washes your face and will fall off quickly at the edges of your head.

Apple is trying something very different with Face ID and how it gathers data about your face.

While your face is illuminated, a matrix of infrared LED lasers is projected over your face. These LEDs use a wavelength of light that contrasts with the light used for illumination and thousands of individual points of light cover your face. As you move (and we can never be perfectly still) the points of light reflect the changes.

With your face illuminated with the infrared lamp and a light matrix is projected over it, a special camera is collecting image data. Every point of light is marked and as you move and they change, those changes are also logged. This is known as depth image acquisition using modulated pattern projection. It's a great way to collect data that shows shape, edge detection, and depth while an object is in motion under any type of lighting conditions. A ton of data can be collected and used to show a distinct shape that can be recreated in 3D.

The data is then passed to what Apple is calling the A11 Bionic Neural Engine. It's a separate subsystem with its own processor(s) that analyzes the data in real time as it is being collected. The data is used to recreate your face as a digital 3D mask. As your face moves, the mask also moves. It's an almost perfect mimic, and Apple does an excellent job showing it off with its new iMessage animated emojis in iOS 11.

Face ID uses some of the same technology as Android phones with Tango.

For authentication purposes, the data set is also used to calculate a unique identifier. Just like Samsung's iris scanner, Face ID securely stores this data and can compare it against what the special camera is seeing while Face ID is actively running. If the data set matches what the camera can see, the security check is passed and a token that verifies that "you are really you" is given to whatever process is asking for it.

While Apple is also making a few concessions to ensure Face ID is fast and easy, there are some clear advantages from a user perspective. Face ID is actually more secure because you're moving (more data is being analyzed) and there is no "sweet spot" as all of your face is being used and the camera uses a wider field of view. The matrix projected on your face contrasts well against whatever is in the background because a sense of depth is used to isolate your face's shape.

As a bonus, the shape data of your face in real time can be used for other purposes using what Apple calls the TrueDepth Camera system. We saw an example of this with the new portrait mode for selfies, the animated emojis, and Snapchat masks. Apple has built the Bionic Neural Engine in a way that it can share simple shape data with third party software without exposing the data it uses to build a secure identifying token.

Which is better?

We can't say anything is really better until we've tried it.

Better is subjective, especially since we've not yet used Face ID or the iPhone X in the real world. For authentication purposes, the important thing is that the process is accurate and fast. Samsung's iris scanner can be both as long as you point the phone so it can find the data it needs, but on paper, Face ID will be easier to use because it doesn't need to lock on any particular spot to work. And for many of us neither is better and we would prefer a fingerprint sensor, which the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 both still have.

Whichever you prefer, there's little doubt that Apple has outclassed the competition in this regard. Extensive hardware to build and collect data about your face's shape and features, combined with its own processing system to analyze it all more akin to Tango than any previous facial recognition we've seen on a phone. I'm excited to see this level of technology come to mobile devices, and can't wait to see how future products build on what we see from Apple.

Apple has launched two new smartphones, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, at a major event in California, which also saw the release of the premium iPhone X smartphone.

If you’ve ever wondered how that stain got on your shirt or how long those eggs have been in the fridge, a new gadget might be able to help.

It’s called the Bosch X-Spect, and it’s a little wand that can scan foods, stains, and fabrics. Then, it offers advice on what to do with them.

“The goal behind it is that it helps users with everyday decisions,” said Dr. Arndt von Bieren, head of sensor and food technologies at BSH, the corporate parent of appliance manufacturer Bosch.

Equipped with two optical sensors, it sends the data it collects to a cloud database that can determine the blend of a fabric, the fat content of a piece of meat, or the source of a stain.

We got a chance to see the X-Spect in action. It could tell a lipstick stain from a red wine stain, it knew that my suit jacket was 100 percent wool and my jeans were cotton, and it told us that a peach was still a few days away from peak ripeness.

Some of its features seem a bit gimmicky—for instance, you can look up the calorie content of raw food online in less time than it takes for X-Spect to scan a walnut, access its database, and display the results on its small screen.

But von Bieren envisions the scanner as a vital connection between human and machine. Paired with a smart washing machine, it can tell you which clothes are safe to wash together, and create a custom drying cycle that will minimize clothes wear.

Similarly, by determining the composition and water content of a cut of meat, X-Spect could automatically adjust a recipe for maximum flavor in a way that the most well-trained chef could not.

While it’s solely in the concept stage, von Bieren assured us that the X-Spect we used was, indeed, a working prototype.

“It’s not a fake. The cloud back-end works,” he said, although he couldn’t offer any clues as to when it might go on sale or how much it might cost.

Although similar scanners exist, von Bieren said that Bosch is developing the X-Spect entirely in house. The next steps include beefing up the database with more information about fabrics and foods, and determining other potential use cases.

I Know you must have been looking for a stackable dryer with steam at a reasonable price? Meet the GE GFD45ESPKDG (available at AppliancesConnection for $649.00). It’s handsome, loaded with features, and could appeal to a wide range of buyers. And after spending a week testing this dryer in our laundry labs, we conclude that this model gets clothes nice and dry—as long as you have plenty of time to wait.

Design
You can buy this 7.5 cu.-ft. dryer in a swanky Diamond Gray finish, like the one we tested, or you can purchase it in white (GE GFD45ESPKWW) for about $100 less. The plastic “chrome” trim provides a shiny contrast on the gray model.

If you also purchase the companion washing machine, you can stack them together. If your laundry room is really a laundry closet, that ought to work well.
To start the dryer, you hit the Power button on the right, dial up a cycle on the left, and them push the Start button on the right. The zigzag motion is a small annoyance, but at least it's the same process as on the matching washer.

Features
The dryer has many desirable features. We especially liked these.

• Sanitize with steam—If your kids that take their stuffed animals everywhere, this is how you get rid of the germs.

• The shirt warming cycle—We love the idea of the Warm Up feature for cold winter mornings.

• Steam de-wrinkle cycle—It uses steam on full-sized loads of wrinkled clothing, so you don’t have to waste time at the ironing board.

• Ext Tumble—If you can’t get to the dryer immediately to unload it when the cycle is finished, this setting can extend tumbling the laundry for an additional 60 minutes. It's another way this dryer helps prevent wrinkled laundry.

Performance
The features are awesome, but in our lab tests, we discovered that the cycles are slow—and inconsistent. Our test laundry always came out between 99 and 100% dry, so the machine's sensor is working, but it took longer than expected to dry any load of laundry, and the timing wasn't consistent from load to load on the same setting.

• Normal cycles took between 57 and 78 minutes to complete, despite using a standardized load.

• The Quick Cycle was not terribly quick, with completion times between 35 and 44 minutes. It got our laundry very dry, but ran barely any faster than most other dryers' Normal cycles. Our top-rated dryer has a 15-minute rapid dry cycle.

• The Delicates cycle took between 66 and 71 minutes to finish. It isn’t very hot—an average of 118° compared to the Normal cycle’s maximum temperature of 188°—but that’s totally appropriate for clothes that need TLC.

• Bulky cycles took between 57 and 91 minutes to get our bedding dry. That’s an unusually wide time range.

The bottom line
For a dryer so loaded with options, we think the GE GFD45ESPKDG is a good value, despite its ideosyncracies. Dryers with comparable features are often priced in the $1000+ range. This model looks beautiful with a Diamond Gray finish, and it dries laundry almost perfectly. But we find that its cycles are inconsistent, and that this dryer is just too hot to run this slow.

2017 will mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone and Apple has something major planned to celebrate the occasion. With less than a month to go until the launch of the iPhone 8, we've already heard an abundance of rumors about the device, so we know what to expect when it comes to design and features.

Apple tested more than 10 prototype iPhone models, leading to a lot of mixed rumors floating around, but the general design and the features we can expect have mostly been nailed down, including in leaks from Apple itself.

The iPhone 8 is expected to feature a radical redesign, with an edge-to-edge display that does away with the top and bottom bezels where features like the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and the front-facing camera are housed. Rumors suggest Touch ID could be eliminated entirely in favor of robust facial recognition technology, which Apple is confirmed to be working on. There will be no physical Home button on the iPhone 8 and no bezels aside from a small area for the front-facing camera.

With an edge-to-edge design, the iPhone 8 may be similar in size to the 4.7-inch iPhone, but with a display the size of the 5.5-inch iPhone. Rumors suggest it will feature a 5.8-inch display with 5.15 inches of usable area, with the rest dedicated to virtual space that will replace the Home button. A series of gestures may be used to navigate instead of a Home button.

The display itself is said to be a flexible plastic OLED rather than an LCD, allowing Apple to introduce a thinner device that consumes less power and offers a better display with higher contrast ratio and more true to life colors. It will feature a slightly curved 2.5D display that's similar to the display used in the iPhone 7.

As for the body, Apple is finally moving away from the aluminum used in the iPhone 5, 5s, 6, 6s, 7, and SE, and will instead adopt a glass body that's similar to the body that was used for the iPhone 4. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the glass will be built around a polished stainless steel frame that's similar in design to the Apple Watch. Other models will also feature glass, but with an aluminum frame.

Like the iPhone 7, the iPhone 8 is expected to be water resistant, but it may have an improved IP68 water resistance rating. It will continue to be able to hold up to rain, splashes, and brief submersion in water, and that water resistance has been confirmed by an Apple supplier and may extend to all iPhone models being released in 2017.

Inside, the iPhone 8 is expected to have a 10-nanometer A11 chip that will be both faster and more efficient, plus rumors suggest it could also include features like induction-based wireless charging and biometric additions like facial recognition that would be used for device security, perhaps to replace Touch ID. In higher-end models with a dual-lens camera, both lenses are expected to feature optical image stabilization.

The iPhone 8's front-facing camera will include advanced 3D sensing capabilities that use technology by PrimeSense, allowing it to find the location and depth of objects in front of it, enabling advanced 3D facial recognition features. Rumors suggest Apple will use a vertical rear camera for improved pictures and better AR functionality, along with a dual-camera setup for the front-facing FaceTime camera.

Apple is said to be planning to position the OLED iPhone 8 as a ~5-inch "premium" model that will be sold alongside standard 4.7 and 5.5-inch iPhone models with traditional LCD screens. The iPhone 8 is expected to cost as much as $1,000, which is a good deal more expensive than previous iPhones. The iPhone 8 and its companion devices are expected to be available in a limited number of colors -- gold, silver, and black.

Given the radical design changes Apple plans to introduce in the OLED iPhone, rumors have been suggesting there will be serious supply constraints. Another new application made by Chinese company named Root Dashi APK. This application is made for rooting our Android smartphone without PC / Computer, without complicated with just one click (or tap) (internet connection needed). Well what is the essence of my life without root , my android smartphone can not be modded, can't hack it, and can't improve it.

This tutorial was written when I got soft brick on my Android Infinix Hot Note 1, so I must re-root it again because the firmware is reinstalled back, and I try this app.

Even though previously I had shared something like this, but with different app that is "360 root" app. But recently my Android smartphone got a bootloop (worse: "soft brick") because of the problem that arise in installing a custom kernel, after I tried to restore the backup there is no different, and I had to re-install the stock firmware of my Infinix hot note 1, that make it back to virgin . A friend told me about Root Dashi, and it worked on my Infinix hot note 1 (Android Kitkat 4.4.2).

Step to root your Android smartphone as easy as one click (tested on Infinix hot note 1 Kitkat 4.4.2)

Download dan install Root Dashi v. 5.1.6.apk app.

Turn on your internet connection, and then open the Root Dashi app. Just tap the blue button with "root" text to begin the operation.

Then the rooting process is on the way and you have to wait until its at 100%. Taraaa done.
When rooting process is ongoing, maybe Root Dashi app will try downloading an app by itself, I don't know what is that app, if you don't understand the language too just let it and don't install it and back to the Root Dashi app (the ongoing root process).

If the rooting process fails, there will appear a red alien (if am not wrong), try to repeat the root process because I was successful with the root with this app at the second time. If you failed many times say like more than five times, then maybe this app is not suitable yet with your Smartphone type / it's Android version.

If the rooting process without pc with this app is success, it will automatically appear app named "King Root" on our application drawer that is functioned as superuser management.
