Mailspect’s Email Stream Management technology is unique in it’s ability to classify unstructured email as streams. Before we apply any services to email such as saving, spam scanning, etc. we classify the email as part of a stream. Mailspect has unrivaled abilities to classify email from any source as part of a business process or object. A process can be any workflow such as a clinical trial, a loan application, a sales deal, etc. and an object can be a customers domain name, service level, customer record in an ERP or CRM system or any object. Mailspect’s ability to classify email into streams is what makes ESM so powerful. So why does this matter?

This matters because email has critical information about your business and understanding this information can give management insight into deals, point out potential problems and increase the time your people spend producing. By classifying email that matters over chatter or personal email these streams can be shared with business systems or objects. Important attachments can automatically be correlated with projects. Email about a project can be viewed as a feed by anyone involved in a project. All emails about a drug trial can be automatically tagged and correlated as part of a drug trial.

Before any processing of messages occurs in Mailspect classification occurs and Mailspect can use many criteria to classify a message ranging from formatted content to free form content to sender/recipient or Active Directory function. Mailspect can be used as a stand-alone email classifier and can forward email to other systems to process or it can process itself. Mailspect can store an email about a project in a project system or it can tag the mail as part of a project and store it locally. The possibilities are limitless.

Would love to hear your thoughts on email classification and contextual email processing.

Mailspect Manager, a complete spam quarantine management solution for service providers, has been upgrade for multi-domain branding. By supporting per-domain options service providers can easily customize the quarantine interface to tailor their customers needs. Mailspect is an excellent spam quarantine manager for service providers who wish to control their customer experience rather than outsource to a competitor.

Additionally, in this new release of Mailspect Manager we have added important usability features for service providers. A provider can now tailor which configuration options are presented to their customers and large white and black lists can be more easily managed.

These features and more are included in the latest release of Mailspect Manager, email us for download information.

Mailspect helps service providers maximize revenue from email management.

We’ve been working on a reference design for a customer and have arrived at something that is pretty interesting. Our reference design allows large scale anti spam for service providers, scalable spam protection for enterprises and fully redundant antispam protection.

Mailspect Defense Antispam Reference Design for Large Scale Antispam Deployment

In this reference design we have Postfix handling SMTP relays and transports from LDAP. Each Postfix instance speaks remotely to mppd for policy services through a load balancer. Mppd handles STMP checks (per domain or per policy) WBL’s, Spamtraps, SPF, SMTP logging and AutoWBL’s at this level. The Postfix Policy Server of mppd is highly intelligent and works in tandem with the post-queue processor component of mppd. So for example, if we find a remote system is sending too much spam they are added to a dynamic blacklist and then cut off at the SMTP transaction.

After the SMTP session is accepted then Postfix, if required by the Stream Policy, Mailspect will send the message using the Postfix Content Filter protocol, to a pool of load balanced mppd servers.

All of the servers share common configurations and quarantine and settings databases so a new node can be quickly added for expansion. A cluster like this can easily scale to many millions of messages a day with surprisingly sparse hardware.

Please ping me back if you have any questions or concerns!

We have made a major improvements in Mailspect Defense to our WBL processing for antispam system designed for email service providers. We have reduced the queries to MySQL from 6 to 1 and we have have also introduced precedence for tighter controls. Now more specific WBL entries to take precedence over less specific. If a user whitelist a domain he can blacklist an individual contact from a domain. For example he whitelists domain yahoo.com but blacklists a contact anoying.man.from@yahoo.com It sounds reasonable in general. We used to always prefer whitelist entries, now we don’t. This is required to scale WBL’s as the scale to millions of entries, as we see with the email service providers and antispam services who use Mailspect Defense.

This customer service firm is dedicated to providing customized user experiences for their clients. They use Mailspect’s ESM technology for contextual email processing to ensure that customers are matched with right service professionals. Mailspect has the unique ability to route email based on email content and by routing emails based on contextual analysis they are able to match customers with service reps far better than with general support mailboxes that are queued based on the address the customer sent email to. This customer is excited about our new ability to extract words and phrases from emails and compare with a vast database of contextual tools that they regularly use for other applications. Mailspect can use content from email in web services queries and then make routing decisions based on the responses from the web services app.

ESM provides contextual email processing never before found in off-the-shelf products. The abilities of ESM can only be rivaled with vast amounts of custom programming that is expensive to maintain and support and often times considerably lags in performance over Mailspect.

Mailspect is pleased to announce a great advancement in content driven email processing with new pattern matching abilities. With this powerful new capability Mailspect can extract content from emails and use it in web services or mysql queries. Patterns can be stored in a database or in a web service. This means that Mailspect can be used for contextual based processing of email based on things like key words, case numbers, status id’s, header content like fw: or re:, etc. It is extremely powerful and flexible and massively reduces the development time of contextual based processing. Since our expressions are compiled at run time are performance is loads faster than most scripting languages.

Email Stream Management is the core of all ailspect products. In the ESM model email is sorted into streams and services are applied to streams. ESM processing is made up of a series of engines with programmable logic and complete flexibility in service application. Mailspect specializes in handling email based on content and there are few products, if any, that match the flexibility and powerful of Mailspect.
