MQR will be celebrating its 10th birthday later this month and had me thinking about this week's questions for all of you.

When did you join the group? How did you find out about MQR? What do you enjoy the most about being a part of the MQR community?

I'm still recovering and don't have my energy back, so I apologize for not getting this posted earlier today. I hope that all of you had a wonderful 4th of July celebration yesterday. Lots of illegal fireworks in our area. I felt so bad for all the poor, terrified pups. No quilting yet for me. I'm hoping to spend an hour in the studio tomorrow if I'm feeling up to it.

Yesterday was Canada Day for our friends to the north; and on Tuesday, we'll be celebrating our Independence Day here in the U.S.A. Many people are enjoying a long weekend in honor of the day.

I have accomplished absolutely nothing this past week. I started feeling ill last Thursday morning and thought it was just a head cold. Well, I was actually getting worse daily, so I went to the doctor's office yesterday. Diagnosis - pneumonia. I'm hoping the antibiotics and heavy-duty cough medicine start working their magic soon.

I've been plugging away on a client's quilt that is getting a full custom treatment. I did complete a lap quilt for another client, too. I was able to get quite a few things planted outdoors. I still have a few flats of annuals that I need to get into the ground later this week.

I was speaking with a customer this week when she came by to pick up an extended throat plate for her longram. We chatted a bit about the profusion of acrylic rulers/templates available to us today to use on longarm quilting machines AND on domestic sewing machines. So my questions for you this week are...

We've had a few warm-for-us sunny days, but this morning is rather cool and overcast. Things are so dry and the wildfire danger is high, so some rain would be welcome.

A quilt shop in Anchorage is hosting a two-day workshop with Ricky Tims later this summer. We have several guilds in the area who have hosted other out-of-state instructors, but sometimes they have had a hard time filling classes over the past several years. So my questions for you this week are...

Does your quilt guild or group sponsor out-of-area teachers? If so, do the classes fill quickly and have a wait list? What's one class or lecture you'd love to attend given an opportunity?

I've been plugging away on clients' quilts. I have a huge custom one that has been on the frame for some time now, and I'm still only about half way done with it. I did make it to the greenhouse last week to get the rest of the annuals I wanted for my buckets. Now I'm getting them hardened off so that I can get them planted next week.

The trees have leafed out so summer is definitely on its way here. I also purchased some annuals that I'm hardening off so that I can start planting them after Memorial Day.

After looking for two weeks, I found the current issue of Quilt Sampler magazine at the grocery store on Friday. I always enjoy reading about the shops they have featured. We are fortunate to have several shops in our local area, and each one of them has its own personality. So my questions for you this week are...

I taught on Saturday and have been doing some yard work this week. I spent a bit of time in the studio working on a client's quilt. It's HUGE and has some piecing issues; so it's taking me a bit longer than expected.

I am fortunate and very grateful to still have Mom here to share the day with us. We will gather for lunch later today and then watch a movie together. In years past, I used to take her to a local greenhouse to pick out some plants for her garden. She doesn't get around as well as she used to, so we'll skip that this year. I'll make sure to get out next week to get her a few hanging baskets to enjoy.

It's raining this morning, and I'm looking forward to spending some time in the studio later this evening. Thinking about cool, rainy days brings me to this week's questions for all of you...
