Okay, okay. Mom says that calling myself humble does not actually make me humble.

BOL!

Furiends, today I need to bark about something important: healthy aging support for dogs.

Before you start checking my fur for gray hairs, let me make one thing clear. Getting older does not mean the shenanigans have to stop. It just means we may need a little extra support to keep doing what we do best—following our humans everywhere, investigating every grocery bag and appearing in the kitchen the second someone opens the refrigerator.

When Does a Dog Become “Old”?

I object to the word “old.”

I prefer experienced, distinguished, or exceptionally well-seasoned.

The truth is that dogs do not all age at the same speed. Giant dogs may enter their mature years as early as age four. Large dogs may begin aging around five or six, while smaller dogs may not reach their senior years until eight or later.

That does not mean a dog suddenly wakes up on one particular birthday and starts requesting a rocking chair.

Aging happens gradually. Changes may begin inside the body before our humans notice anything different on the outside.

Do Not Wait Until We Stop Chasing Treats

Most humans begin thinking about aging support when they see something change.

Maybe their dog takes longer to stand up after a nap. Maybe the stairs suddenly look taller. Perhaps a favorite walk becomes a little shorter, or the neighborhood squirrels are no longer worth chasing quite as far.

Those changes deserve attention, but they are not necessarily where aging begins.

It is a molecule naturally found inside the body’s cells. It helps cells turn nutrients into energy and supports normal cellular maintenance.

The amount of NAD+ in the body tends to decline with age. You cannot see this happening by looking at your dog, but it is one reason healthy-aging formulas may include ingredients that help the body produce NAD+.

Signs Your Dog May Be Entering the Senior Years

Becoming restless or confused at night

More Supplements Are Not Always Better

Now, this part is important.

Getting Older Does Not End the Shenanigans

Growing older does not make us less lovable, less curious or less interested in being part of the family.

We may walk more slowly, nap more often or need a little assistance getting onto the couch. But inside, we are still the same dogs who stole socks, chased butterflies and somehow knew whenever our humans needed comfort.

It was a day of sunshine and love, French fries and fire hydrants. And new beginnings.
Little did I know the challenges I would be faced with down the road. Little did I know the joy
I would come to know leading a family of beautiful misfits. I'd trade all the doggy treats in the
world (okay, maybe not "all" but most of them, anyway) to continue to provide for and protect
my crazy family. We have BIG fun and with me around - there's never a dull moment.

Woof! Lets just take a minute to revel in the literary prose that is the genius of yours
truly. Yep, this is straight from my first chapter in Real Dogs Don't Whisper; oh how I wuv to paw up a chapter or two.

But seriously, folks, I gotta tell ya, I am one lucky K9. Everyday I get to strut my
stuff, and these ladies just eat it up. I'm the king of this castle, and Carla Mae and the
human are my ladies in waiting. Cause until the Magoo Man here checks out, ain't nobody
can run this household like I can. "Get 'em up. Get 'em movin'" is my motto each and
every morning.

But being the gentleman that I am, I sometimes let the human think she is in charge.
Got to throw the lady a bone every now and again. Shhh. Don't tell her I told you this.
Sis and I need her for some stuff, like bringing home the kibble and handing out those
pawtastic treats. Woof! Woof! How Carla Mae and I dance for those treats.

As much as I love to toot my own horn and take credit for my family's safety and
funnigans, I wouldn't be here to do so, if wasn't for the human. She saw something special
in the Goo Man here, and because of that I'm the happiest, coolest dog around.

An Apple A Day, Keeps Doc At Bay

Woof! I am back behind the keypaws; whew, trying to get a chance to paw up a note or two is a tail pullin' time. Mom just doesn't share her office, maybe I need my own office? Whacha think? Woof! And, she leaves all this food on the desk. The other day she left behind this thing called an apple. Folks, it was Grr8!!

Did you know that us dogs can eat apples? And get this; did you know that apples with the skin on are full of plant chemicals (phytonutrients, yep had to Goo-gle that one!) that are thought to be protective against some types of cancer in humans. They are a source of vitamins A and C and fibre. apples; contain low sodium and low saturated fat, now, how pawsome is that! This fruit is rich in omega 3 and in omega 6 fatty acids, this means it helps promote a healthy, shiny coat. Oh yeah, watch me wiggle my tail, my long flowing hair blowin' in the wind, my coat shining brighter than the sun. Oh sorry, was just daydreaming about me doing the dog walk. BOL

Mom always tells me that too much of good thing, can be a bad thing. Do I ever listen? Woof! Of course not, I am Mr MaGoo who knows all. BOL. Turns out Mom knew what she was talking about; I ate too many apples and I became very, very sick. Hey! Don't you humans have a saying, "sicker than a dog"? Let me tell you, if any one of you humans become "sicker than Mr MaGoo", whew, that is pretty bad. My stomach was very upset and angry, wasn't a bootiful sight.

Let me tell you furiends, make sure to tell your parents only to feed you a very small amount of apples; turns out, apples contain sugar and can put too much weight on our doggy, stylin' figures. Oh woof! We need to watch our waistlines, yes?

When Mom saw me having a feast on the apples, she became a crazy lady with her hair flying all over the place. Wasn't pretty, let me tell you. I later discovered, while my tummy was angry with me, Mom was worried that I ate the seeds. Thank dog I didn't. Furiends, the seeds will kill us! They contain a poison called cyanide; I had to Goo-gle this, this is one nasty thing. Gulp! Now I know why Mom was crazy lady, she was so worried. I was lucky that time, maybe I should wait until Mom offers?

Nom, Nom, Nom...Wuv My Veggies And Fruit

Woof! Mr MaGoo coming at you straight from the kitchen, lots of good stuff in here folks. Sniff, sniff, sniff; oh my, where do I begin first? I guess this big item that looks like a tall box, I wonder what this is called? Woof! All I know is that my nose is picking up some mighty Grr8 things inside this big box. Shall we explore?

All together now, help me open this up. Whew! Thank you! Now, what is in here? Oh look! There they are, carrots! Did you know that carrots are pawsome for us? Mom gives them to Carla and I all the time. She says that carrots are rich in vitamins and minerals ranging from Vitamins C and B6 to iron and potassium. Get this! I had to bark at Mom that raw carrots can serve as a "toothbrush" for us too. I even wrote about carrots in my book; for those that read my book, you know which chapters I am referring to. All of them! BOL

Mr MaGoo's Mom here, enough about the doggie treats Goo! They’re baby carrots for Heaven’s sake. That’s why they’re in the fridge and that’s why two pounds is more than enough at one time!

See what I have to go through folks? Where was I before Mom interrupted us..

Let's see, what is in this drawer? Green beans, broccoli, sweet potatoes, my sniffer is on overload and it is taking everything just not to gobble all this up. But, even I know even too much of a good thing, is not a good thing. Wait! Really? I might have to rethink that. Mischief? Lots means more funnigans; so, this must not be included. BOL

Ok, ok, ok, let me share this with you; green beans are a good source of plant fibre, vitamin K, vitamin C, and manganese. Did you know that green beans are a great low calorie way for us to fill up and help us maintain a healthy weight? Yep, it is true; this is how I keep my sexy figure. I'm too sexy for my scarf, too sexy for the dog walk, too sexy. Oh I just crack myelf up.

Look over here, berries and melons. I don't think I am going to leave this box. Blueberries are my favorite, I wuv the deep blue color. There is a healthy reason why they are deep blue, it is because this makes them potent with antioxidants, and the berries also supply Vitamin C, Vitamin E, manganese and fiber.

Woof! All this pawing about these Grrr8 foods and treats have left me with a need; a need to get my rub a dub grub on.

Woof! Us Dogs Wuv Having A Job Woof!

Woofoo everyone!! It's me, your lovable furiend, Mr. MaGoo, hoping everyone had a pawonderful weekend. Carla Mae and I sure did. That big yellow thing in the sky was beating down on us, making us feel soooo good. Plus, it was Mother's Day weekend, how Grr8 was that? What did you get your Mom? Carla and I gave Mom flowers; we did try to do cook breakfast, that didn't work.

It's the week work again (Grrrr)! So, that means all of our humans are off and leaving us for that bad dude, called a job. No matter how much Carla Mae and I bark and block the door, mom still goes off and doesn’t come back till late in the day. Does your parents take all day to do business?

That got me thinking - us awesome dogs need a job too! Otherwise it can get awful boooring around the house. Now, me, I already have a job. I am Super MaGoo, protector of everypawdy! Carla Mae is my helper; at least that's what I let her think.

Some of my furiends out there are not as lucky as I am to have such a job. Most dogs just lay around with nothing to do. And that is not cool, man. You gotta keep us busy. We love to run, sniff and track objects.

Here are some pawrific jobs for us canines. Obstacle courses let us go nuts, running, weaving, and jumping. We got super sniffers, so why not try hiding our favorite toy or bone in the backyard. If you throw it, we'll run for it - ALL DAY LONG! We might just wear you out. We will also be glad to fetch you anything you want - your slippers, newspaper, or anything else you might want, as long as there is a treat waiting for us.

I saw on the calendar that there is a special day dedicated for our Moms, called Mother's Day. How pawsome is this? Did you know about this? This day is on Sunday, May 13th of this year.

"A mother's heart is a patchwork of love." Wow! When I was a puppy, I wasn't able to read about what our Mom would take on with us, but, over the years I have learned what it means to be a "Mom" by watching our Mom. Talk about a big job. Arf!

Something Smells Fishy...

Woof! Do you smell that? What the heck is that? Oh my, smells like fish; something is fishy around here. As if that wasn't enough, poor Carla Mae is fighting off allergies; she gets all itchy and does this sound, "achoo". Seriously folks, where in the kibble is this smell coming from? <sniff, sniff, sniff> Found it! Mom is giving us fish oil! Wait! That means, it is me that smells like a fish. Come on over

and take a sniff; do I smell like a fish? No! Whew; I thought I was growing fins for a second. BOL

Allergies aren't stopping Carla Mae and I from funnigans

Why does Mom gives us fish oil? Did you know that fish oil is excellent to give your fur babies (dogs and cats)? It is true! Woof! See, fish oil was first to given to us pets that had allergies; however, now Doctors across the World have learned that it is also good for kidney disease to arthritis to heart disease to certain cancers. Grrrr, I really dislike that bad dude cancer...Grrrr Back off cancer, I am Mr MaGoo the Protector and I bite back...Grrr

Sorry about that folks, I had to let that nasty dude know that I am not afraid of him. Now, where was I? Oh yes, smelling like a fish, BOL Fish oil is very effective for us with allergic skin disease. See, it provides anti-inflammatory effects, which help relieve itching and scratching and allergy related skin conditions.

Arf! Fish oil does a whole lot more than just help with allergies; here are other health benefits for us pets:

Autoimmune/skin allergies

I know that Mom was giving my beloved sister Buffy fish oil to help her heart, cancer and Cushing's disease. I try to bark at Mom that Buffy had a lot of wuv and this is why. Woof! I think we are both right, don't ya think? I miss my sister..woof! Mom keeps giving it to Carla and I to avoid any future bad dudes; and, to help Carla with her allergies.

How much should your parents give you? Grrr8 question; Mom gives us a tablet at every meal. She says it to prevent dog allergies and dog skin problems, as well as heart and degenerative disorders, if you are a medium sized dog one fish oil supplement every day and half of one to smaller dogs. Mom simply cuts off the end of a fish soft gel capsule and squeeze the oil onto our food. Remember though, have your parents ask your veterinarian for correct dosage. Each one of us is different and require different amounts.

Bark at your parents; for them to give it you, and it is Grr8 for them too. Do your parents give you fish oil? How do you feel? How do look? Like me? I am too sexy...BOL

Apple Cider Vinegar Isn't Just For Cooking

Woof! How is everypaw? Getting ready for Summer? As you are getting ready for Summer, does this include us pets too? Did you know that we get the heebie-jeebies from nasty visitors called fleas? Oh I shudder at the thought of them; they bite, they carry disease, they cause worms...yuck! Stay with me furiends and I will give some tips to keep them off you and out of your home.

Now you have often read that I curse 1,000 fleas on cancer and other bad dudes; that is because fleas eat anything in their way. The only eating they should do, is on cancer cells. Grrr, I dislike cancer just as much as I do fleas. Grrr back off...Grr

If your Mom and Dad are like anything like my Mom, she wants the very best for Carla and I; yet, she makes sure that we are safe from toxic items. Yes folks, believe it or not, even though an item may keep fleas away from us, it can be toxic for us. The item I am barking about, flea control that you buy. Arf! Arf! It can cause terrible side effects, like cancer, bladder cancer to be exact.

So, what are our parents to do? I, Mr MaGoo, am here to help you and your parents (you can thank me later...bol). Our Mom did research and has been using this method for over a year now; I am pawing up to you about apple cider vinegar (ACV).

That's right! Apple cider vinegar helps repel fleas; that's right 1000 fleas, back off and go find bad dudes to eat. How does this work? Woof! I have to be honest here, I had to "Goo"-gle it; I am a dog not a scientist. Well, not yet.

ACV when given to us daily, it creates an internal (and external) acidic condition that is not "tasty" or attractive to fleas. If ACV is added to our food, 1 teaspoon, it makes our skin unsuitable for fleas. Adding a few drops of ACV to our pet's drinking water will affect a change from alkaline to acidic from the inside out. Now, that doesn't sound yummy; would you eat something that is acidic? I should think not.

If you are worried about picking up fleas when we go for a walk, (I know Carla and I are); tell your parents to keep some ACV in a spray bottle, and spray us before you leave home, and when you get back.

Spring Is In The Air, Pawsome..Remember These Easy Peasy Fur Friendly Tips

Woof! Woof! How is everypaw out there? Can you feel it? Do you smell the flowers? Do you feel the gentle breeze? Are you running through lush green grass? Ah, yes, spring is here! Woofooo

I wuv this time of the year; Mom takes on extra walks, the grass is soft beneath my paws, and there are new smells for me to investigate. And, since I am running out on the soft, lush green grass the puparrizi is out in full force. Oh, I see the puparrizi hiding behind the trees, waiting to snap a photo of me. I am ready, I have my sunglasses on...click, click, click...strike a pose...click, click, click

Whew! It is ruff being a pupstar. BOL Ok, seriously folks, while spring is bootiful it can also be a season that brings medical issues for us pets. The first medical issue we face would be increased flea and tick activity. Yuck! I do not like creepy crawlers, especially if they put us at risk for disease. Tell your parents to ensure they protect you from these creepy crawlers; remind them that these guys carry diseases.

Another creepy crawler that is bad dude, heartworm. OMD, this dude attacks our heart and need I bark that if not treated, well, you can only imagine. Please beg and puppy dog eye your parents to stay current on testing for this bad dude as well as the pills that keep this dude away.

Hold on a second, the sky is beginning to leak, April showers. Spring showers not only mean May flowers, but puddles, standing water, and even flooding can occur. Please keep us clear of stagnant waters that can be loaded with bacteria and other tummy upsetting organisms. We do not like tummy aches..Grrrr...

Barking about flowers, when planting, please check to see if your plants are pet friendly and use landscaping products prudently. Fertilizers, pesticides, cocoa bean mulch, and Easter Lilies are just a few common spring toxins.

Arf! I hear Mom getting my dinner ready, yes folks, I have her trained to serve me. ROFBOL...don't let her know that I pawed that up. She doesn't like to admit that I run this house, BOL

Did you know that grooming has health benefits for us? Do you ever take the time to thoroughly exam the inside of our ears or mouth? Do you know the symptoms if an infection are beginning? Let me bark at ya', grooming us on a regular basis helps you stay on top of such items.

Believe it or not, there are some health conditions that can go right pass you without a bark or sniff. By spending a few minutes grooming us on a routine basis gives you the added bonus of really “getting in close” and making sure that everything looks, smells, feels, and even sounds right. Plus, we enjoy would you get close with us, we wuv it; brings us closer to you.

Having a “heads up” on any illnesses or medical conditions potentially makes getting such things under control easier and requires less bones and kibble, as well as have a greater chance of a successful outcome – all benefits in their own right.

Grooming us isn’t just a matter of finding hidden medical problems; it’s a way to maintain our health. Tell Mom and Dad to think of it as spending their current time on preventative medical treatments in place of spending their money in the future for medical “repair” bills. That’s a short-term benefit with a long-term potential.

Plus, daily grooming presents an unique bonding experience with you and us. Over time, we may loosen up a bit more than we would have otherwise. I know that both Carla and I are calmer and more content in situations that use to cause us to react in a less-than-positive manner. Double woof to this!!

Being in close contact with us has long-term implications for you as well. According to numerous studies that have been conducted, pet owners experience fewer minor health problems and better psychological well-being. A regular grooming session with us could therefore be considered a great form of preventative medicine for your parents' health.

How about giving me a high paw on this? I don't know about you, the less time I am in doc's office, the happier I am and Mom too. So furiends, ask your parents to brush and massage you daily as part of your routine.

My Sister Buffy, My Hero And Now I Have Big Paws To Fill

Woof! Woof! As by now, you have read Mom's tribute to Buffy; and, viewed the video Mom and I put together. Now it is time for me to pawgraph not only my tribute to my sweet sister, but to share things that Mom isn't even aware of. Buffy and I had a tight relationship and there were some things that were just between her and I. Woof! Sorry Mom, we had it that way.

Pull up a blanket and get comfortable folks, I have a tail waggin' love story to tell. Our relationship began July 2001, when I was brought home, I was introduced to Buffy. She walked right up to me and barked about the rules of the house. Me beginning a young pup, I had my own agenda. Let me tell you, she didn't put up with my shenanigans. If I got out of line, she would put me on my back and just stand there until I pawlogized. Between her and Mom giving me guidance and discipline in my pup years, I thought my name was "No Goo". BOL

Throughout the years, Mom would rescue other dogs and Buffy was right there to welcome them and put them at ease, ensuring they were safe and our Mom would find their parents. I learned from her to be patient and kind to these lost furiends.

Buffy always watched over Betty Boop; I loved to play with Betty Boop, she allowed me to wrestle and win. BOL If I became too ruff, Buffy would step in and have me calm down and gently sniffed Betty Boop making sure she was fine. Buffy always let Mom know if Betty was going to have a seizure; as Buffy became older, she taught me this skill too. I didn't do it as nice as Buffy did; Buffy would go to Mom's leg and nudge her. Me? I would bark and bark until Mom came.

Buffy taught me how to be a protector and respect my Mom; as she became ill over the years, I would get very upset. See, what Mom doesn't know is that I wasn't upset with or at Buffy; I was very upset that she wasn't feeling well. And, what didn't help was Buffy would tell me she wasn't feeling well and one day she would be going to meet Betty Boop. Oh, I wasn't happy about this, Grrrr; while Mom often saw me grumbling as I walked away from Buffy, she didn't know the discussion that Buffy and I just had.

When Mom would leave the house, Buffy always asked me to wake her up if she was sleeping when Mom returned home. As she became older, she needed her rest and slept very soundly. Arf! I sat there and watched over her very closely while Mom was away. I never left her side; snuggled right up against her so she would feel me and be able to rest knowing I was right there. I am Mr MaGoo, Buffy's body guard.....hear me bark! Sure enough, Mom would come home and I would bark and bark at Buffy. Mom would tell me "be nice" and let her sleep. Let me tell you, this confused me so; Buffy would tell me to wake her up, Mom would say let her sleep. What was a guy to do? Woof!

I even had my own medical emergency, Buffy had just returned home from the hospital herself and she didn’t miss a wag. She checked on me, Buffy was like that; she thought of us first, before herself. Buffy was a giver and a pleaser; which I have to say at times would work on my last paw. Arf! Why did she have to be so freakin’ nice and pleasant? Just one time, I would have loved to see her do the “talk to the paw”; but no, she was too humble. Boy, I still have a lot to learn. Woof!

The night before Buffy went to be with Betty Boop, she wasn't comfortable sleeping and shared with me she would be leaving very shortly. Boy was I upset, Buffy you can't leave!!! I grumbled and grumbled; finally Buffy was able to calm me down and made me promise I would take care of Mom and Carla Mae. She reviewed the "to bone" list and it was a lot. I became very sad, I didn't think I could fill her paws; as tired as she was, she whispered: "Mr MaGoo you have learned so much through the years and have grown into a fine dog. I know you will be able to do this job. The only thing, please do not wear my ribbons; they just don't look good on you". She left out a little bol, I gave her my paw and tail bark that I would not let her down and reassured her; I had no interest in her bows.

That day as Mom walked Buffy past us, Mom called us over and asked that we tell Buffy we wuv her and how proud we are of her. Not only did I do that; I also gave Buffy a big thank you for being such a great sister and mentor for both Carla and I. Then, Carla and I gave Buffy a big hug and kiss; we both told her to watch over us from The Bridge. She whispered; she would always be with us. See, Mom didn’t know this; Buffy shared with us as she was getting in the car, it was time. As soon as she said this, Mom was confused why I ran to the car and jumped in...I wanted to be there...

Buffy entered my life March 30 2001, she came into my life though not planned. At the time, Gizmo was with me and had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. During one night researching about brain tumors, I stumbled across my Betty Boop.

Months after that night finding Betty Boop, the date arrived that I would meet Betty Boop. I drove 2hrs to go and meet Betty Boop and fell in love instantly. As I was leaving, there sat this beautiful Cocker Spaniel; she was shaking and looked all confused. I asked about her and then they told me the horrific story. Two men severely abused her; to the point where they left the hair on her legs grow together so she couldn’t run. My heart ached and I had to have her, she was coming home with me.

I told the person that I wanted to take her home too; however, I was informed that another lady was to have her. While I was crushed, I knew that I had to care for Gizmo and now Betty Boop (at the time, no idea what her care would fully entail). As I was speaking to this person, I mentioned that I worked from home. The next thing I knew Buffy was coming home with me.

See, the woman that was to take her, was on the road a lot and Buffy needed someone 24/7 to rehabilitate and trust the world again. And so, our journey; or should I say, love story began.

Over the course of those months, Buffy was learning to trust. Gizmo passed only after a few weeks that Buffy came home. The day that Gizmo passed, she walked up to Buffy, barked and barked and barked, Buffy acknowledged her with a soft nudge. I often wonder what was said; however, I would like to think that Gizmo passed the torch in taking care of me. Over the years, Buffy did just that, in her special way.

Our bond over the years grew stronger than one could ever imagine. She knew when I was coming home before I would even arrive; I would often be told that moments before I would arrive, she would get up and run to the door and begin sniffing and wagging her adorable little tail. I had given her tail the nickname, "wiggle worm"; when I would tell her to "shake your little wiggle worm", her tail would go 1000 mph

When Mr MaGoo came along, Buffy went into Mother role and guided Mr MaGoo, showing him the ropes. Of course, Mr MaGoo had his own agenda and there were many times that Buffy stepped right up to the plate and put him in his place. I would tell people that she pinned him down, of course, most found it hard to believe because she was so gentle. I am here to tell you, Buffy was patient, tolerant, yet a leader and knew when to step in.

Then, I was handed medical challenges over the years. In 2004, diagnosed with Cushing's. When I discovered it was an autoimmune disease, I went into full force to keep her protected.

March 10 2010, then, she was diagnosed with TCC (bladder cancer). I elected to have the cells removed; only, they came back 6 mos later. I was given choices: chemo, radiation, surgery..all of which I declined. I elected to leave as is; with her Cushing's and age (13), I did not want to put her at any more risk.

Early 2012, she developed pancreatitis; only to be diagnosed with severe CHF (mitral valve) immediately following. The CHF came on very sudden and was relentless.

I knew in my heart that I would need to let go soon; however, not without a fight. For 30 days after been diagnosed with CHF, I did everything to keep her comfortable and beat this. She needed help with eating, no problem; I hand fed her. She needed help getting somewhere, I carried her. She needed help drinking, I held her ears. It was her and I, everything and everyone could and would wait. I dedicated my time for her; I was not going to let her down.

She had great days too, and she would let me know; she would take off up the stairs. Or, stand at the door with her "little wiggle worm" moving at 1000 mph, because she wanted to go for a walk.

As hard as I was trying, her heart was giving out and shutting down. I was fighting the cancer for her for all these years, and, it was her little heart that gave out. As anyone knows, Cushing’s is not what is one's pets demise, it are the organs that Cushing’s goes after. Her and I fought the liver and won; her and I fought the lungs and we won. And then, her heart; and together we fought like we never fought before. Even hours before I had to let go, she wanted to go on a walk; March 7^th was picture perfect and who was I to deny what would make her happy.

I had a strange feeling inside that this would be our last walk together, and, I am so glad that I caught it on video. I can’t explain how I knew; perhaps it was the night before when she snuggled up against me so so tight and fell asleep with her head in my neck. I cried myself to asleep with her snuggled up against me, because, I knew she was telling me and showing me “thank you Mom, I know that you did all you could, but, I now need to go and I love you Mom”.

When we arrived at the vet's office I again had that sinking feeling; she wasn't herself at the vet's. Normally, she would be alert and shaking like "Chicken Little"; not this time. As soon as I sat down, I held her in my arms and she fell into a deep sleep. It was as if, she relaxed knowing that I would send her to be a puppy again. As I realized this, I sat there fighting tears back, I knew I had to let her go and play again.

As Mr MaGoo would tell anyone, her heart was so big and enlarged, because she had so much love.

Anyone who had the honor and blessing to meet Buffy would tell you, she was full of love. Throughout the years, she would watch over Betty Boop; she was the Mother that she never got to me. When Betty Boop passed, I had the wonderful opportunity to watch Mimi; Buffy and she became BFF instantly. Buffy immediately went into "Mother role" and would help Mimi. Mimi sadly went to Rainbow Bridge; only weeks before Buffy, and now they are BFF’s again.

Buffy, I don’t even know how to begin to thank you for these past years. You taught me the meaning of trust; your trust in me and mine in yours was unable to be measured. People would state that our relationship was extraordinary, and, as I look at the images, it clearly comes out. My Beautiful Buffy, I was truly blessed to have you in my life. As much as I did to keep you comfortable, now, you are in peace. You will no longer be tired, you are now a puppy again; running in lush grass and chasing birds like you did before.

"Darling Companion" Love, Friendship & Solace

Woof! Woof! It is no big secret that I am an explorer and like to sniff new things that come into my yard. And, when I dig up an item that is bark worthy, I just have to paw up a note and share it with you. Let me wipe off my drool before I share. Ok, all clean; pull up your blanket and let me chew on your ear about my latest discovery. I dug up a new movie called "Darling Companion". I know, I know, I am just that; "darling" and a pawonderful "companion". Arf! When I first chewed on the paper, I thought it was about me. After all, didn't you think so too? After a few chews and sniffing a bit more, turns out it is about a rescue dog that brings a family together. Wait! Sure this isn't about me? How could this not be about me? Darling, check? Bringing a family together, check. That is my job, to keep my family together. Woof!

Sorry folks, couldn't help myself. BOL! Seriously, April 20th, this movie will be opening and is not to be missed. Let me share with you just a little sneak preview.

On the side of a busy freeway, a woman finds the love, devotion, commitment, and courage she needs – all wrapped up in a bloodied stray dog who becomes her “darling companion.” When the beloved canine goes missing, a shaggy-dog search adventure plays out, drawing together friends and family and rekindling a lifelong love.

Now, Mom tells me there are famous humans in this movie. If you ask me, this movie isn't famous until I am in it. Woof! Seriously, I am not certain who these humans are; do you know Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline? I had to Google them and I never saw them in my yard; have they visited yours? Any woof, Mom says they are purrety famous and are Grr8.

Remember folks, I howled this to you first. Nothing gets by my yard, double woof!

Woof! Are you lost? Is your ID up to date?

Woof! Mom and I were just out walking with my sister, Carla. We were walking and all of a sudden there was a puppy! Arf! What was this puppy doing out on the sidewalk at this time of the night alone? Oh no, I can't have this, I have to get this puppy back to his Mom in a tail waggin' second.

I immediately ran up to greet him, introduced myself and Carla; asked him his name and where was his Mom. His name was Chulo and was lost, he went onto bark that he got away from his Mom and she was unable to keep up. Mr MaGoo to the rescue! Arf! After all, Mom has trained me over the years to help others and tonight wasn't any different.

Woof! Are you lost? I am! Would you help me find my parents? You bet, Woof!

I held his paw and told him that both my Mom and I were here to help. I howled do you know where you came from; poor little guy was scared and didn't know which direction to go. Then, there it was! He not only had a collar and leash on, he had tags. Double woof!

I ran over to Mom and asked her for my iPaw. She pulled it out and I dialed the digits that were on the tag, oh kibble, pawlease let the digits be correct. First set, I had to bark at this recording. Grrr I tried the second set of digits and a lady answered. Now, I am not one to give a description of my lost furiend; no bones about it, I asked the lady on the other end of my iPaw to describe my new furiend. Whew! She did with the greatest of kibble.

Moving? Tips to help reduce stress for us pets

Woof! How are ya? A few weeks ago I mentioned that we moved, let me tell ya, I was never so glad that I was a dog at that point. Mom was doing crazy things with newspaper, boxes; and, our toys and beds. Hold on Mom, we need to bark this out; what are you doing with our stuff?

Little did we know that Mom was taking us to a new home; I never barked this to her, I didn't like the old place. There was no sunshine, Carla and I like to sit in the sun light. Plus, I couldn't see the World go by and protect my home. Folks, for a human, Mom does ok at times; this new place she scored big bones and kibbles with us. We have tons of light, I get to sit at the front and watch; plus, we have a BIG park right outside our door. Wuv the new place!! Gets two double woofs!

Just chillin in the sun; oh how I missed this Woof!

I understand that moving can be stressful for you humans, I am here to paw up, for us pets too. Mom did a good job keeping us relaxed during this process. Let me share with you some tips that you can pass on to your parents.

One thing that Mom did was stay on routine. Breakfast same time? Check Dinner same time? Check Long walks? Check Time for me to get in trouble? Check BOL! She did this at the old place and new place; this helped us stay on track.

Exercise, exercise, exercise; even though Mom was busy with all that newspaper and stuff, she always took us for walks. I can tell ya folks, this helped us stay calm. She did this at our new place too; took us on walks, let us sniff out the new digs, and of course I had to let all know that I am here now. Mr MaGoo is here..woofloo.

Another item to share with your parents; if at all possible, if the parents can take some of your blankets and toys to the new place a few days ahead to get your scent in, that helps. Mom took all blankets and placed one in each room, when we arrived, smelled like us. And, that was mighty good..ahh, Goo perfume..ahh Wait! Maybe I should make a cologne? Whacha think? Oh I can see it now, fans lined up waiting for my debut. Ok, ok, ok back to moving tips (I will have to sniff this out later)

Then get this; Mom made a room just for us! Yep, we had all own room and boy did we feel safe. We walked in and there were our toys, beds, blankets; it was yours! Of course, I quickly established that I was the room monitor. Who else would be better than I? Exactly!

Oh oh, I need to end this; I hear Mom finishing our breakfast. Off to breakfast and remember to tell your parents about these tips.
