Nevada City, for those who can't guess by the name, is located in California. Surprise! Beautiful weather beckoned crowds to enjoy strolling the streets of the town, many in period dress. Food and crafts were available in many booths, and bathroom facilities were available for those willing to stand in line for awhile. Otherwise, you had to stand in line unwillingly.

Apparently my camera lens needed cleaning before I visited Henry Cowell State Park, not far from Santa Cruz on the Monterey Bay. Photos never do justice to the giant redwoods, the incredible feeling of calm and smallness among the huge trees. Many of the trees in this park had been harvested years previously, with a circle of large trees growing up around the original stump.

How about a little golfing in the desert? Rabbits and road runners, wild residents of Bullhead City, are quiet onlookers, and balls flying off the course are guarded by cactus.

Caesar's Palace is worth going into, even if you don't plan on gambling. With no expense spared, it is a lush city until itself.
