Everyone has I AM HIP-HOP or I AM .... t-shirt fads going on the "I AM FASHION" definetely does not scream a very fashion forward appeal- simply more of irony in wearing such an overstated screen tee claiming the title of FASHION. This tee mine as well have a huge A&F emblem across the letters to be any more cliche. Any who if you would really like to claim "I AM FASHION" I would opt for something sexy and subtle-- or not so subtle I love this

Prom Night In Mississippi

So on another one of my amazing tangents...shockingly enough Prom Night has nothing to do with fashion...This is more of a PSA. Morgan Freeman, the Great Morgan Freeman, who has played everything from a robber or street thug to God in our popular culture movies is from a little town in Mississippi and he wants their prom to be integrated. Appearently integration is not so big in this town...he pretty much said he would fit the bill for the prom if all the black students and white students come together as one...here is the trailer for the documentary.
which aired on hbo a couple weeks ago...but me not being in the states I have been a little out of the loop.

I have a NEW favorite website...pinkice.com it is amazing think H&M meets Urban Outfitters meets American Apparel but for a quarter of the price. Here are some pictures from my favorite looks. They have GREAT back-to-school looks. Here are some items that I wouldn't want to end the summer without. They have everything you need for back-to-school; college or a cool high schooler lol. I love this turquoise bag as a laptop case and I picked the denim dress because it is SUPER cheap- where I also saw the same one by freee people, which I love for 200 hundred dollars. & the shoes are self-explanitory; if you are not into heels everyday they are perfect little sandal. this is a very moving video & it shows how diverse music can be. When K'naan wrote this song it could have been about a lot of different things but in this video it has touched a lot of people affected by weakness and war.

K'naan- Kay-nan

Is one of the realest artist to hit the music scene in a loooong time! If you don't know let me be the first to introduce you to my buddy K'naan. My buddy? Yes, he is one of the few musical talents along with the Marley family & a few select others that you don't have to actually know to fall for his metaphorical & beautiful rhythms. His style of music is just as hard to genre-rize as is his style of dress. His style is far from main stream but just as easy to get pulled into. I don't know if he has a special thing for hats but he is lucky enough to be able to pull them off. I repeat, he can pull them off. Please do not try this style at home because you will likely fail. In the picture above K'naan's style is truly one of a kind and can only be shown in a picture.
One of the true reasons K'naan has actually retained my interest this long is because he is intelligent in my opinion a true MC he is willing to stop being a politician of words & speak up for his people in Somalia, where he lived till 14, and in the projects of America. I have heard him speak on everything from pirates in Somali Waters to the word Nigger in America.So if K'naan is performing where you are I promise you will enjoy the show!

Michelle Obama switches it up. The First Lady has made a change to her look. She has gone from her long bob to a neat behind the ear tuck. Personally, I love it. Michelle Obama has a reputation of being a modern woman with great fashion sense and I applaud her slightly risky trim. This hair-cut would be no big deal; if we were talking about anyone else, but just yesterday the media was howling President Obama for wearing mom jeans. This is one haircut that I am sure will be getting a lot of attention & I hope it is all good. What are your feelings on the new hair-do?

What? She is on her Amber Rose game lol. Honestly, the haircut is a little intense. It's not that I don't like the haircut it can be cute but not on her. Her face can not hold a haircut like this & neither can that tent of a blouse she is wearing. Hopefully, for her, it's just hair she loses because her fans do not seem to supportive of her new do. hmm...I just don't know. Are you feeling this look on baby beyonce? She tried to do like Ashley Simpson & look different than her sister; but she missed part of the class because Ashley went back on that move and looks just like Jessica!

So as anticipated by many Twilight Wear is hitting stores soon, personally I could care less. The movie was okay, but really do you need a shirt to show your devotion? I don't mean to rub you Twi-Hards the wrong way but come on. Anyhow I do think I will be seeing a million females wearing T-shirts in every color from every age devouring & devoting their selves to poor Taylor. It's cool though because we all have our thing...there's a few people that come to mind that I wouldn't mind wearing a screen Tee for! And if you did not know already the Twi-Wear will be hitting stores this OCTOBER. That's right! At Nordstroms so if they do not have one where you live you better find a way to get near one....which makes me think?! should I have a contest? I think YES!

In other fashion news after the must read (& skim pictures) of the well anticipated Italian Vogue Black Issue, that came out back in July of 2008, the media will once again turn to Vogue for another big story. Now - this week fashion and beauty magazines are getting ready to leak how well, or how poorly, they sold ad pages into the upcoming make-or-break September issues.

Vogue used to sell out there ad pages literally years before because the competition was so high for great placement. Last year Vogue booked 673.89 ad pages in last year's September issue alone, that is 23% of the ads which equals profit from ads for the full year. Bad numbers are expected which is obviously the reflection of the hurt economy and also how the fashion world is being effected. Many cities have cut back or even canceled there fashion shows. Hard times are touching everyone.
Vogue has told the New York Post that its September issue would top 400 ad pages- 400 pages will still be a 41% decline from last September. Fashion Week in Miami cut costs thousands of dollars hopefully there won't be too many things canceled or cut back-not just in the fashion world.

As we mark the one year anniversary of the July Italian Black Vogue Issue; we are left with another amazing artistic issue.
According to inside sources Mattel’s So In Style dolls, will be designed with more ETHNIC features such as fuller lips, a wider nose, and curly hair. Any doll that looks more realistic is a step in the right direction it's about time little girls have a realistic and positive self-image. All in all there will be 6 dolls in the collection there names are Kara, Trichelle and Grace.

Atlanta Fashion Week!

No, Atlanta Fashion Week is NOT one of the The Big Four: which always take place in this order: New York, London, Milan and Paris. Yet, Atlanta Fashion Week has a lot to offer. Atlanta Fashion Week also deemed, HauteLanta Fashion Week is starting TODAY July 22nd to July 26

“Fashion Weeks” are all about dictating the clothing trends to happen . ATL International Fashion Week has only been going for 3 years and already...has a five day event, that is suppose to attract 3,000 to 5,000 participants and guests from the UK, Australia, Canada, Africa, Japan, India, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean.

Oh, honestly I wish I could be there...still in Europe. Other than the fashion; I want to go because I love the venues; they just sound so fancy. It will be at the Biltmore Hotel, Hotel Palomar, Eros Lounge, Opera Night Club, and Dolce in Atlantic Station. So pretty much the hottest and best of ATL will be coming out for this Fashion Week.
I only hope the fashion show is better than there website. It is impossible to navigate...Ill post all the designers showcasing once I check the list.
Anyway another reason, since inquiring minds want to know...I wonder will the women from Real Housewives Atlanta be there?

I was thinking today that I wish I had a "disposable income" I think that is what rich people call it when they can buy anything. Yeah, disposable like trash?! Anyway I love when designers give things away for free but usually the only people who get the nice free stuff can already afford it. Perfect Example: Valdemar Iodice, a Brazilian designer with gorgeous dresses gave away $7,000 of free Iodice dresses to select magazine editors and store buyers during the 2009 fashion week. I want a DRESS! or go to Brazil...I'll take what I can get. And with the Miami fashion week and Brazil in mind I couldn't help but think SWIMSUITS!!!

Stella McCartney is gree n. Stella McCartney has released a chic and exclusive 23-piece summer collection. There’s a cool halter jumpsuit ($2,245) and a sweet summer frock ($1,695).
She even has some pieces available at Barney's. The line is called Stella McCartney Organic. One of the reasons the line is so expensive is because of the materials. Stella McCartney said “Our shoes are 70 percent more expensive to make because we don’t use conventional methods. When you’re not working with leather, you really have to think outside the box.”

Stella McCartney will be starting an endeavor with GapKids and babyGap. She will be working on a new collection of children’s fashion.So if I use this Organic Weight Loss Lotion enough and remove my ribcage I will finally be able to afford Stella McCartney!!!

And to make the situation worst the cool and sexy lady also has a lingerie line out. I want to be cool and sexy too...

Eco-friendly products are gaining major popularity. I can't seem to stop thinking of them. This
GO GREEN
campaign has taken over.
It's not all bad though the products incorporate concerns for the environment, the consumers & the people working in the fashion industry. This lens will hopefully guide you in the direction of some great organic products

Eco-friendly clothes are made using organic raw materials, such as cotton grown without pesticides and silk made by worms fed on organic trees. Eco-friendly fashion doesn't involve the use of harmful chemicals or bleaches to color fabrics! All environmentally safe fashion is suppose to be "from fair trade" - meaning the people who make the items are paid a fair price and have decent working conditions .
It is important to practice

The act of consuming products and services while taking into account the impact and consequences for the environment and the society at large.

These are some of my favorite pieces from Organic by John Patrick from Spring 2009. Organic had an ethical focus to the runway show. Seventy percent of the line is made entirely from sustainable materials right here in the U.S., with the organic knitwear produced by Patrick's cottage-industry artisans in Peru. This was such a resourceful design.

Guess who else jumped on to eco-fashion?

Isaac Mizrahi

Not only is Isaac Mizrahi using the salmon skin for shoes- he also made a collection which I believed appeared at fashion week. Mizrahi's dress and shoes are made of discarded skins of Alaskan salmon. The dress has the Alaskan salmon sewn onto chiffon. Eco-fashion is growing but even Isaac said

"Frankly, unless something is really glamorous and amusing, I'm not going to sell my artistic principles short for the sake of 'going green.'"

The honest designer is able to keep his "artistic principles" in tact. Would you wear Alaskan Salmon skin if it was available at Target .

The colors of 2009 have been made official in the Pantone Fashion Color Reports- unaware that such a thing existed? You are in the right place, fashion color info is always changing and can be very overwhelming. Here is a color breakdown because at least if you are wearing last seasons outfit you can wear this seasons colors!

2009 Summer/ Spring Colors to Wear

Spring 2009 will bring a lot of new bright colors that will allow you to explore your creativity and fashion personality. Many of the bright feminine colors will be combined with more masculine looks TIP think 80's shoulder pads. Spring 2009 colors allow a more whimsical look to grace the runways as seen in this Roberto Cavalli image from Spring-Summer Fashion Week 2009.

Pictured- model Maryna Linchuk wearing a salmon rose spring fashion color with a feminine paisley-like design. The 3-piece Roberto Cavalli ensemble has both feminine attributes- floral and salmon rose color; but this season structured and tailored masculine looks are strong. The mid-thigh length blazer with shoulder pads adds more structure and masculinity to the more lighter spring-summer 2009 fashion.

2009 Fall/ Winter Colors to Wear

This Fall these colors are charming the runways with elegance and beauty. A selection of an appealing pastel palette, fashion colors that is obviously infused with elements of nature. Everyone from SoCal to Manhattan and across the pond have been going green with everything from environmentally coucious totes to runway couture and these fall colors are earth, wind and fire inspired to say the least. They also have a deep look that can easily be paired with a brighter under layer to add a little element of surprise. Since layering is always big TIP layering of scarves and sweaters in fall colors with a bright-pop spring color underneath. Contrast and juxtapoistion. This fall you will see the use of bright items to set off the background of more earth tones.
