Tickets are sold (I think) at either USD1 or 2 per passenger. But after talking to the locals, it seemed to be a more logical choice to take the bus as it is faster, cheaper, cleaner and closer to our destination.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now our friend, Zin Oo can finally put his heart at ease because he was so worried about us when we said we wanted to try their local train, and launched into a whole story about how even he had never taken the train because it just wasn&#39;t right. Especially when there were countless tales of pickpockets on trains.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It&#39;s our second day in <i>Bagan</i> and we are absolutely loving it here. The weather is extremely cooling, a little chilly in fact, but the sun makes it just right for an entire day out visiting pagodas. She even claimed to have shook me really hard. It must have been the extremely shaky train ride, which made it difficult for me to tell whether the train was still moving. It was also hard to find out if you had arrived at your destination because there wasn&#39;t any announcement made, nor were signboards available.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br> </div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Touts came to our cabin and kept going, &quot;taxi, taxi&quot;. But due to my earlier horror encounter of a cheat during the train ride in Vietnam, I basically ignored everyone and walked straight to the exit to wear the long johns beneath my jacket before I started talking to the touts. I also discovered that I still couldn&#39;t stop shivering from the cold.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br> </div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Someone offered to take us with their pick-up taxi from <i>Bagan Railway Station</i> to <i>Kaday Aung Hotel (Class One) </i>in <i>New Bagan</i> at K7,000 but we managed to lower it to K6,000. As we were sitting at the back of the pick-up, strong wind kept slapping us and I thought I was going to die from hypothermia. </div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br> </div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Anyway, we were stopped along the road, halfway out of the railway station to pay for the Bagan archaeological fee at USD10 per person. So no worries about missing the ticket booth. </div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br> </div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Fortunately, we were able to check-in during the wee hours, and with a free upgrade from a standard  room to the suite. I think we would have preferred the standard room a lot more because we would be able to have a bed without the frame.
