Paalam Munti kong Kaibigan ni: Ryan B. Biron

2012-05-19T11:40:00.000+08:00

Walang naitatago kahit anong sekreto

Basta't kasama siya, ako'y nakukumpleto

Sa loob ng klase kami'y nagtutulungan

Sa Asignaturang Ingles, Matematika at maging Kumpyuter man

Basta nandito ako Muntng Kaibigan ika'y tutulungan

Marami-rami na rin ang aming napagdaanan

Masasaya't malulungkot na mga kwentuhan

Wagas na halakhak ang aming nasilaya

'Pag kami magakasama parng walanag hangganan

Aking kaibigan ako'y nag-iisa at anong nangyari saiyo?

Tila ba'y nawala at ako'y iniwan mo

Kahit ika'y malayo ika'y nasa isip at puso

2012-05-16T18:20:00.001+08:00

May 3 uri ang Computer Hardware Servicing--- one year, Compressed at two years.

Dual Training System (DTS) combines theoretical and practical training, where learning takes place both in the school/training center, and the company or workshop.

This cooperation between the school and the company ensures that the trainees are fully equipped with employable skills, work knowledge, and attitudes.

Trainees under the DTS spend at least 40 percent of the training/learning time in school, and 60 percent in the company.

DTS is a German model that was first introduced in the Philippines in the 1980s through a joint project of the Southeast Asian Science Foundation and the Hanns Seidel Foundation at Dualtech Training Center.

The Dualtech experience was replicated in select public and private technical schools nationwide by the then Bureau of Technical and Vocational Education in 1991.

In February 1994, President Fidel V. Ramos signed into law Republic Act No. 7686 or the Dual Training System Act of 1994 which calls for the institutionalization of the DTS in accredited public and private educational institutions, training centers, and agricultural, industrial and business establishments.

In school, the trainee learns basic trade theory, work values, good citizenship, safety and related theory subjects in mathematics, drawing and social sciences.

At the company/workshop, the trainees learn job skills through practical exercises using state of the art technology. They also learn good work habits and how to get along well with others.

IN TANDEM

Turn your heads up high because... MTCA turns 5!

2011-09-05T12:06:00.001+08:00

It’s another spectacular day unfolding another page in MTC Academy’s history. “United in Training, Innovative in Game,” this has been the core of the planning for this year’s anniversary and intramurals which is up on Sept. 9-10, 2011, an event shorter that last year’s three day activity. The group assignment was simplified into three: namely; Group 1- Yellow Team, Group 2-Green team, and Group 3-Purple Team.

A special mass will be conducted on day 1 at the roofdeck to be followed by a motorcade around Tabaco City and will proceed directly to Siempre Verde, Malilipot, Albay.

This year has been made to cater group activities such as Dance Squad Competition, Scrabble, Tug of War, Basketball, Quiz Bee, DOTA, Games of the Generals, Show It and Longest Line.

A different twist in the swimming competition was formulated to encourage swimming enthusiasts to show their endurance and might in the 18m. Freestyle Sprint, 32m. Freestyle Relay (Mixed), and 16m. Freestyle Sprint. It would be noted that swimming is included in the MTCA’s curriculum during first year.

MTCA’s hidden treasures will be revealed with the stunning presentation of the candidates for the 2011 Search for Mr. and Ms. MTCA where fabulous ladies and dashing gentlemen will grace the aisle representing their respective sections. This year’s ensemble is more of an army silhouette, giving a little odd than usual beauty contests.

An awarding ceremony will follow in the afternoon on day 2 in which the over all winning team will be determined and will be chasing socials and a lot of fun.

Medical Transcription is an Ideal Career for Perfectionist

2011-01-15T10:21:00.000+08:00

Why Medical Transcription is ideal career for perfectionist?
(mtherald.com/why-medical-transcription-is-an-ideal-career-for-perfectionist)
from the post of Raj in Career Guidance

Everybody has the traits of perfectionism but what matters is how much of it actually rules you.
If it is more, it is bad for your overall growth but I say that is good for medical transcription career. As a medical transcriptionist you will be converting extremely sensitive health records from voice file to word file. To make the seriousness involved in medical transcription more clear, even a wrong apostrophe or a misplaced punctuation makes a lot of difference in medical transcription. There is no room for error here. The back end part of a medical transcription process too is a one-man show. The need of other actors like editors, quality analysts and proofers to interfere in your work only arises if your work is not a perfect job.

So the more you strive for excellence here, the more qualitative the reports you churn out, and don't worry if you have those excessive chronic perfectionist traits within you, we could divert it and use it for productive purposes and medical transcription career will be the ideal career choice for you even if you're chronic fanatic perfectionist.

The linen carpet is laid down while the end is yet far. As MTC Academy - Albay moves on after its 4th Anniversary, much is unseen and are yet to come. For almost four years we survived the challenges which torment our existence as the medical transcription training provider in Albay.

MTC Academy-Albay, as the first and largest TESDA certified medical transcription training institution, provides the most comprehensive training program, complete and state-of-the-art technology. Among the training institutions in the Bicol Region, we provide our students outstanding job placement assistance. Since the grand launching of MTCA, we made it clear that the trainings we offer at MTCA is indeed in-demand. We set the highest possible standard for our students, which is based on the MT companies' expectations from the MT applicants. This is to ensure that our students, after their graduation, will be confident in applying to prospect employers. Hence, these efforts cannot be equated as sure job placement assistance that we offer to students. We do our part the best that we can. Needless to say, we strive and cope to provide the best training we can give to our students. Ours is the responsibility to care for the motivational learning we can share to our MT students. The rest lies at their hands.

Some of the corporate partners we have presented during the career orientations are mean to manifest our leverage and to prove the existence of medical transcription as an in-demand job. The core is to give the students an idea, if ever, after their graduation, will have some place to go. We are clear in the notion that the hiring procedures is subject to the discretion of the employers.

The internet is a useful tool that can aid an MTC graduate in job hunting. Most of our research on the employment opportunities we presented we presented during orientations and on-air talks are from the internet. More so, creativity and resourcefulness matters a lot in hunting for employment opportunities.

We care for our students the best we can while they are at MTCA. What lies beyond after the training are none of our control. So we challenge all the MTCAERs to do their best - strive and persevere so that we can have more competent and qualified MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONISTS.

The MTCA World

Being part of MTCA family is a great privilege and an opportunity for each of us. Here, I met people from all walks of life. People of different values and attitudes. But whatever are our difference, our aim is to finish and pass all the specialty exams and practical files to reach the standard accuracy, to be familiar with the medical terms especially the drugs and diseases, most of all to finish the course. Hence, the challenge remains --- how to strive in the midst of competition among fellow MT students. To keep on track, we need to struggle a lot learning all the things we need to know in a short term basis. We need also to practice self-study and self discipline. In this endeavor, self discipline is crucial. Also perseverance and courage is a must. This attributes to the success of being an MT.

Medical Transcriptionist

Despite the difficulties we encounter in our studies, here, we also feel happiness especially when we encounter unfamiliar terms. At least, we are given a privilege to know the meaning of complicated medical terms. Indeed, we are blessed for having medical transcription because we learn new ideas which we can apply in our day to day activities particularly on health preservation.

Personally, I want to acknowledge all the efforts of the mentors, the admin, the staffs, the medical lecturers and the good Lord for guiding us in one of our journeys. This is great opportunity to be part of this challenging world. May God Bless us and more power to MTC Academy-Albay!

Misuse or Abuse?

2010-10-27T10:04:00.000+08:00

Mary asked how to transcribe this: The patient said she "told my mother I was suicidal."

(See quotes.html for the correction of this)

Using the same verbiage the doctor used but with different punctuation, how about:

The patient said, "She told my mother I was suicidal." If the patient said that she'd told her mother she was suicidal, then how about: The patient said that she told her mother,"I was suicidal." It's difficult to tell who said what based on the dictation. Is "she" referring to the patient, or is "she" referring to someone else whom the patient is speaking about?

From Bill's friend David: Here's the way I see it: The patient is a friend of the doctor's mother, and she (the patient) told the doctor's mother that her son (the doctor) is suicidal! The doctor's own words were transcribed, "The patient said she told my mother I was suicidal." Since this is the doctor speaking, when he said "my mother" he is actually referring to his own mother, and the "I" in "I was suicidal" is referring to himself!

The patient probably said something like..."Ya know Ira, I was having lunch with your mom the other day and I told her that you were suicidal." The doctor then dictated this statement as, "The patient said she told my mother I was suicidal." It's clear to me that you have a suicidal doctor here --- one of his patients knows it --- and she told his mother!

Hired or Fired?

2010-10-27T09:35:00.000+08:00

I used to hire MTs, and I had my share of those who assumed they could do the job for various wrong reasons. Second place goes to the person who said, annoyed after I had gently explained why she was not qualified even to apply and gave her a few examples, " Well, i didn't think I was going to have to know what the words MEANT."

First place goes to a very nice and personable applicant, who in a straightforward manner informed me that she considered herself qualified. She started her reason: " I have a neighbor who is an ambulance driver and he and I talk a lot."

Caught in the Act

2010-10-27T09:14:00.000+08:00

One time I was delivering work after hours to a psychiatric clinic. Since no one was there, I slid the work under the door. Somehow, I set off the burglar alarm. I went outside and within one minute the police were there, even a police helicopter overhead. I don't think I've ever been quite so embarrassed in my life. I had to show how I'd slid the work under the door and then accompany them throughout the building to look and see if there were real burglars somewhere.

Welcome, MT!

by: Loyde Ruth Q. Moran (Medical Transcriptionist)

It wasn't long ago when my youngest child, noticing me engrossed in sending a text message, gleefully announced to her sisters, "Look, mama can now text with one hand."

This serious business of texting used to be done using both hands, with not a few frowns and mutterings under my breath.

"As if the phone would attempt to escape," another child teased. "Well, at least, no one can snatch it from you, Ma," the eldest added as a finale.

I've never been a techie, never saw the need to be one. Technology and modern gadgets have always been a topic of animated ribbing between my girls and myself. The premise is that, there used to be a time when people's knowledge and learning started in their brains. Now, they're simply at their fingertips. So, blissfully i coasted a long, never seeing the need for a cell phone or, much less, a computer.
Most of the time, what I need, I already have.

But now that I'm nose-deep into becoming a medical transcriptionist, I find that leaning to use a computer, on my own, can be rewarding. For one thing, I get to update myself as a professional nurse.

Sadly, the machine and I aren't friends yet. It thinks of itself as its own master. It surely has a will of its own. Sometimes it hides my files. Just today, I had this newly transcribed file set aside for retrieval later. When I tried to open it, it was nowhere to be found. Even the address got lost. I muttered, cajoled, and begged, but the silly machine was unmoved. An expert was finally called to retrieve the file.

But I also encounter some light moments once in a while. There was this doctor's list of items to be done to a patient. Among other things, there was this instruction: "send to manicure." Just like you and I would ordinarily say, "send to market," or "send to laboratory." Another one: "TV time." At least that was how I heard the voice file, and so transcribed it as such. "Wow!" I thought, "the American MDs are really getting creative in the way they care for their patients."

When the "perfect copy" came out, however, I realized that the doctor had been conservative and went by the book. The patient didn't need a manicure. She needed "symptomatic care." The other one with tinnitus, though needing other sounds to mask the ringing sensations in her ears, did not need a TV time. She had to be tested for tuberculosis, thus, "TB tine."

It's still a long, long way off to breaking the sound barrier, speed wise and otherwise, in medical transcription, that is. I know I'm not there yet, even in my dreams. But it will come, I'm sure of that. As always, and added skill will be useful in due time.

My First day at MTC

2010-10-23T14:28:00.002+08:00

by: Catherine Camania (Medical Transcription High School Graduate, Batch 2)

The warm shine of the sun

Tells me my first day will be fun

Though I'm totally a stranger

To this institution I enter.

New environment, new faces I've met

With hands filled with sweat

My heart tells me its ok

Try to talk in a friendly way.

I approached one of them

Hoping I'll find a new friend

Says "Hello" and "How are you?"

Begins a wonderful picture of two.

The professor enters the room

And the whole class seems alone.

But the silence was broken by laughter

Of our dear lovable lecturer.

My mind says this is a great day!

Learning will be alright for me

Everyones expectation is very clear

And interaction is now on air!

The next subject excites everyone

Wanting to go downstairs and run

Everyones eager to open the computer

Especially those first timers.

Hours passed, the class is over

But no one initiates to go downstairs

Everyone seems happy.

Knowing their choice is indeed worthy!

Latest Technologies in the Medical Practice developed a modern method of documentation using ocmputers and internet. This freed the physician from the schackles of documentation needed to satisfy regulatory and insurance requirements.

First, we ask ourselves, Is medical transcription simple? Does it provide a high income job? How can I be an MT? Do they play an important role in sustaining quality patient care? Lets find out in this article.

A Medical Transcriptionist (MT), is a person who transcribes voice-recorded reports dictated by physicians and/or other healthcare professionals into text format. All transcription reports must comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996. The term "transcript" or report is used to refer to a document (electronic or hard copy), which normally refers to the healthcare professional's report of a patient. Moreover, it is referred by many as the "medical report." Each transcribed report becomes part of the patient's medical history. Medical transcription can be done either in a hospital, physician's clinics, medical transcription companies or at home. To transcribe means to convert from "audio" into "text".

MTs are oftentimes referred to as a medical language specialists, medical stenographers or medical word processors. This job requires the correct spelling of all medical terms used. They also edit the transcribed document. Being an MT requires not only keyboarding skills but also understanding of medical jargons, English accents and physician dictation styles and patterns. They must have an extensive knowledge and understanding of medical terminologies, anatomy and physiology, human diseases and other medical aspects. An MT should be able to comply with the correct grammar including punctuations and spelling even of erroneous dictations. Basic Computer application job involves advanced technology.

An MT must first invest in academic training, encompassing months of acquiring medical knowledge and technological know-how. One should proceed with continuing education since new medical terms are coined as medicine and science progress. Moreover, knowledge of basic to advanced medical terms is essential. Independence is also an important virtue in medical transcription. They should be independent enough to do their work efficiently and effectively. Poor sound recordings initiate proper judgment calls especially when it comes to discrepancies or possible errors committed by the dictator.

The job description may be simple but the work is not. MTs up to this point are still establishing career as a profession. They play an important role in this modern world. So as a student of MTC Academy, Im very lucky that the school has the best facility and educators to enhance our knowledge and skills to become future MEDICAL TRANSCRIPIONIST!!!
