Casting calls for the 22nd season of The Real World on MTV will continue through October 2008.

The locations for these casting calls in early October are:

• New York City

• Little Rock, Arkansas
• State College, Pennsylvania
• Lincoln, Nebraska

These qualities will give you an edge but are NOT a requirement:

• Leadership experience - such as a student government position, college RA, or camp counselor
• Musical ability
• Seasoned travelers who speak Spanish
• Lifesaving skills - such as a lifeguard or EMT
• Athleticism - particularly water sports

My current feeling is that the location for the Real World 22 will be in San Juan Puerto Rico.

The cast of The Real World Brooklyn looks to differentiate itself from the previous twenty seasons on MTV by having the first transgender cast member.

The cast’s head shot compilation was posted on Vevmo and combined with my sources indicate the naming of the cast is as follows - starting clockwise from the top left.

• Kate - formerly Chris
• Sarah
• Baya Voce
• Devyn Simone
• Chet Cannon
• JD Ordonez
• Ryan Conklin
• Scott Herman

This would be the first time a transgender cast member would be on The Real World and hints to why for the first time filming starts with eight instead of the usual seven cast members.

The reason I am told there are eight cast members to start with is because Kate may be leaving for the transgender surgery in Taiwan during filming and then return post-op - similar to another MTV reality series True Life.

Other interesting highlights of this cast include:

• Devyn was the 2005 Miss American Teen National Pageant winner and is looking to be a singer.

• JD is a dolphin trainer from Miami and had reportedly dated CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper according to the Gawker.

• Chet is both a virgin and a mormon so the rest of the cast have taken it upon themselves to help him lose his virginity when they go out, which is generally in Manhattan since the Red Hook area has given the cold shoulder to the cast.

The aftereffects of the currently airing Island Real World Road Rules challenge on MTV seems to run counter to the network’s declared Green Crusade campaign.

The photos above were taken at the site of The Island Challenge in late August by Michael Drake of the Tree Climber Coalition on Boca del Drago island in Panama well after production wrapped in early July.

Michael states the island itself is well populated but made to appear remote on the show as no residents were allowed onto the beach even though all beaches by law are public - which is the same situation faced by producing Lost on Oahu.

Surprisingly he also states that Bird Island nearby is prohibited by law for humans to set foot upon as it is a sanctuary for birds, but in direct violation of this the show’s contestants build a raft to this very island to explore and find the hidden treasure at the end of the show.

He then walked around the production site that was supposed to have been returned to its natural condition but instead remained trashed well into a month later as evidenced by the pictures he took here.

It should be noted that the trash is on private land and perhaps there is a delay in the cleanup and revitalization of the area but it is still disturbing that this has not been taken care of several months later by a network on a declared Green Crusade.

MTV Networks International’s Global Climate Change Campaign called Switch states it is looking for the best ideas and innovations to reinvent how we live in ways that are cool for us and the planet - maybe one of those ideas can be to finally clean up the mess production left unless it considers it “cool” to trash an island.

To get an advantage in the casting call process the producers are looking for people with the following attributes:

• Leadership experience - such as in student government, college resident advisor, job manager, or camp counselor
• Musical ability
• Seasoned travelers who speak Spanish
• Lifesaving skills - such as a lifeguard or EMT
• Athleticism - particularly water sports

With these requirements it looks like it will be in a Spanish country or a strong Spanish influenced US city near the water like Miami or San Diego.

The casting calls will continue south on Saturday September 27th there will be three casting calls going on at the same time in Tampa Florida, Dallas Texas, and Fort Collins Colorado from 10am to 5pm.

The Rack has since become a Hard Rock Cafe so the new casting venue remains in the Faneuil Hall Quincy Market area bu at the nearby Ned Devines on Saturday September 20th from 10am to 5pm.

You can take the subway or whats locally called the T to get there which if on the Orange Line you would get off at the Haymarket Station stop, the Green Line you would get off at Government Center, or if on the Blue Line you would hike all the way from Aquarium Station.
