At some point, the Graphic Content-sponsored DrawnTown Sioux Falls turned into something more than just a drawing meet-up. Now, with writers and photographers showing up, it’s a true creative summit. Which is awesome.

This is the modest offering I came up with. I can’t draw, so I have to rely on the lines already present in the world. Also, I like taking close-ups of wood. I took a lot more than this, too.

Halloween Night.

The real reason I was out on Halloween night, taking pictures in a smoky practice space with what I now know was the beginning of a week-long combination of h1n1 and bronchitis, was because I told my friend (and ex-bandmate from high school) Matt that I’d take pictures of his band, Harriet Tweed. Here they are.

The whole set was pretty fun to edit. No. I don’t really have a Polaroid.

I’m getting to like using the 50mm prime more and more in these “not enough light, but Hell let’s take some concert photos of barely known bands” settings. These are from Damn Your Eyes’ Halloween set above Phil’s Pub here in Sioux Falls.

Lots of pictures from our apple reconnaissance trip to Country Apple Orchard from a few weeks back.

I suppose this betrays how far behind we are in the Vilhauer house - this is a beer, next to a radio, which is tuned to Game 163 of the MLB Season. Twins vs. Tigers. Twins WIN! (And, since then, they’ve been swept, the Yankees are in the World Series, and I’ve already forgotten that baseball is still on.)

It’s true. We do this every year.

The trailhead for the Mickelson Trail is right down the road from where we were staying, so we ventured out and walked around for a bit.

Hit Deadwood for the South Dakota Festival of Books a few weeks back and visited the cemetery where Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried. Pictures of those graves are over on Flickr, but these pictures seemed to capture the atmosphere of the place a little better.
