If you’ve ever watched a music video and thought, I wish there was more dancing on a casket, then you’re in luck. Tove Lo’s new video for the anti-monogamy track “Cool Girl” is here and it’s bringing its funeral-inspired dance floor with it.

“Cool Girl” is the lead single from Lo’s upcoming second album Lady Parts and the first chapter in a video series titled Fairy Dust. The video opens and closes with shots of Lo in a club, which we assume is reference to the videos to come in later chapters.

As for “Cool Girl,” the Swedish pop singer goes back and forth between writhing on a car in a dusty hotel parking lot and a shaved-head version of Lo writing on a clear casket in the middle of the desert. It’s unclear who is in the casket, with some shots looking like it could be Lo, possibly representing the death of her ‘cool girl’ image.

The video ends with Lo in one of the rooms in the hotel. She sets the room ablaze while her voiceover plays, saying, “Pain and pleasure go hand in hand, they say. But no one mentions that pain is just a path to more pleasure. No more fear, you know?”

Today’s release is the latest from Lo in a consistent string of titillating and provocative videos. Lo’s last video featured a contemporary dance routine with Nick Jonas on the duo’s huge single “Close,” from Jonas’ 2016 disc Last Year Was Complicated.

Tove Lo’s sophomore album Lady Wood is set to be released October 28.

Someone better call this number because we finally found Frank Ocean.

The elusive artist seems to be over being a meme of himself, along with the album title Boys Don’t Cry, because last night, we were finally gifted Frank Ocean’s new visual album, Endless.

If Endless signifies endless questioning, endless aggravations and endless unfulfilled release dates, then we’d say the name of this project is on point.

Rolling Stone has confirmed that the new release is completely separate from Ocean’s much anticipated sophomore studio album, teasing that another album release is coming to Apple Music this weekend.

For now, at least we have Endless. With contributions from the likes of Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, James Blake, Jazmine Sullivan, Sampha and more, Ocean’s latest 18-track release features surprises at every turn.

Though we’re not completely in love with it like we were with Channel Orange, there’s a little bit of something for everyone. Most tracks are under two minutes, but there are some definite standouts.

“At Your Best (You Are Love)” is a cover of the the Isley Brothers’ original 1976 release. Using his “Thinkin’ About You” falsetto, Ocean makes the soul group’s delicate single into his own, with the help of string arrangements by Johnny Greenwood and the London Contemporary Orchestra.

“Comme des Garçons” is an instant head-bobber that’s insanely too short. Sitting at exactly one minute, Ocean sings “Feelings come, feelings go” and “Comme des Garçons” (which is French for “like boys”). Who knew Frank Ocean spoke French?

On “Slide On Me,” one of the album’s longer tracks, Ocean’s croon comes across echoed and restrained. With the sound of gutter twangs and low industrial drum beats, he opens the song with the line, “I’ve been running all year.” From what, Frank Ocean? Your disappointed fans?

“Sideways” begins in the outro of “Slide On Me,” and has Ocean sing-rapping over a smooth kick drum and high-hat. Ocean raps, “When I’m up they gon’ hate / When I’m down they gon’ celebrate / Sittin’ sideways, sideways, nah, it’s not too late.”

If you enjoyed Channel Orange’s “Pink Matter,” chances are you’ll like “Rushes To,” where the singer shows off his incredible alongside mellow guitar strums.

“Higgs” is Endless‘ last track, although the visual album does transition into German visual artist Wolfgang Tillmans’ “Device Control” afterwards. Like most of the promising songs on this project, however, it ends way too soon, abruptly stopping in silence.

Canadian queen of pop Carly Rae Jepsen teamed up with British producer Danny L Harle to drop “Super Natural” last week, and now the duo have given us the accompanying visual for the infectious single.

The video, released this morning, depicts Harle as a realtor, showing the blonde-bobbed Jepsen a crisp and modern home. The house, resembling an IKEA showroom crossed with a trendy cold pressed juice bar, is filled with futuristic people drinking green smoothies and working out. Dancing through the hallways, Jepsen brings life to the sterile space. The house tour erupts into an epic pool party and in the end, Harle closes the sale.

In the midst of working on her next album, next month, Jepsen will be duking it out with 10 other Canadian artists for the Polaris Music Prize. This year’s shortlist made headlines for featuring six female or female-fronted acts.

Jepsen, who’s nominated for her standout pop album, EMOTION, will be performing at the awards ceremony alongside fellow nominees Black Mountain, Basia Bulat, Jessy Lanza, Andy Shauf, U.S. Girls and White Lung.

The Polaris Music Prize will be awarded on September 19 in Toronto.

Mac Miller’s The Divine Feminine is set to be released in less than a month and now we have the second single, “We,”  to hold us over until then. The track features Gnarls Barkley co-founder CeeLo Green and continues the laidback vibes Miller showcased on the album’s first single, “Dang!,” with Anderson .Paak.

Sounding like something you’d hear on Chance The Rapper’s Coloring Book, Miller raps over an angelic chorus, boasting his sad-boy side with emotional lyrics about love that lasts forever. Though the message isn’t unique, Miller’s new tracks add a passionate narrative that’s perfect for cuffing season this fall.

Miller told Beats1 Radio last month that the album was originally slated as an EP, but as he got into the recording process, he decided it merited full length status.

After 20 years and seven albums together, Coldplay continue to be a band that sees music videos as an extension of their artistic vision. Today’s latest release is no different.

The band just dropped their Mexico City-shot video for “A Head Full Of Dreams,” the title track from their 2015 disc, and we’re ready to pack our bags and head for the border.

The video opens with the same audio clip from Charlie Chaplin’s The Great Dictator that the band uses to open their concerts. What makes the impact of the speech even greater in the video is the fact that we’re only months away from dictator-in-training Donald Trump possibly taking over the US. Not only that, but “A Head Full Of Dreams” is shot in Mexico City. You know, the place Trump wants to build a wall around? Remember America, don’t boo—vote.

Shot on a Super 8, band members Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion enjoy a carefree ride through the city and arrive on two wheels to their sold-out concert at the Foro Sol stadium.

The video was directed by James Marcus Haney, who was also behind the camera for Coldplay’s “Birds.” We assume that Haney, the documented concert crasher, was actually given a ticket for the show at Foro Sol.

The video for “A Head Full of Dreams” isn’t the first time the band has travelled for their new album. Coldplay go around the world in their incredible illusion-filled video for “Up and Up.”

They also headed to India with Beyoncé for “Hymn For The Weekend” and hung out with fake gorillas somewhere in the jungle for “Adventures of a Lifetime,” but we’re pretty sure that’s a sound stage.

Social media is full of relentless commentators who thrive on making mountains out of molehills. Ellen DeGeneres’ meme about riding on the back of Usain Bolt is the latest scandal fallen victim to the wrath of Twitter.

Despite Usain Bolt retweeting the image, which we can conclude to mean he’s okay with it, many social vigilantes responded with disgust about the “racism” included in the tweet.

While the social jury is arguing about whether DeGeneres was in the wrong or ignorant, the media couldn’t decide how to feel about it either. BBC questioned why this meme was viewed as racist and pointed out Degeneres’ past problems with race, such as her 2015 parody of Nicki Minaj and her Gap advertisement that featured a young, black girl’s head being used as an armrest. TIME wrote an opinion piece titled, “Ellen DeGeneres Is Not Racist,” and questions whether if the runner was white, would the public respond the same. Yahoo proved DeGeneres had no ill intent because she had Bolt on her show in the past.

DeGeneres tweeted her response to the claims shortly after the image went viral.

As a woman of colour, I believe the term “racist” is being used too fluidly these days. As a Canadian, I can understand that America’s history of slavery and segregation is different than ours, which has led to people of colour being viewed and treated differently than non-visible minorities. Because of that, I understand why some people are up in arms about Bolt “being used as a mule” by a white woman, but where is that fine line between a joke and being offensive? The short answer? It’s different for everybody.

I and many other black people, including Bolt, shared the image and found it funny. I don’t see anything wrong with it. DeGeneres is positively not a racist. She has people of colour on her show all the time, she has never used a racial slur and works alongside Twitch, a black man, every day. She herself has faced oppressive situations in her life by being an openly gay woman.

DeGeneres has never stood in the way of a black person’s shine. She has never diminished a black star on her show. How can you call this woman a “racist” because of a joke that you didn’t find funny? If the person on the other side of the joke thought it was okay, why is this even an argument?

Maybe I’m on the outside looking in and can’t truly grasp the issues plaguing my brothers and sisters, but we can’t go around calling people who’ve never caused mental, physical or spiritual harm to a person of colour racist. Save it for the bigots that deserve the demeaning term.

We’re still a few weeks away from the September 23 release of Shawn Mendes’ second album Illuminate, but the Toronto teen is continuing to keep us intrigued with exciting new tracks.

Having already released his lead single “Treat You Better” and the John Mayer-esque “Ruin,” Mendes is now venturing into the world of R&B with the song “Mercy.”

Mendes continues to play the underdog in his own love life with “Mercy”, singing, “Please have mercy on me, take it easy on my heart / Even though you don’t mean to hurt me, you keep tearing me apart.”

The subject matter is in line with Illuminate’s first two songs, where Mendes longs after someone who doesn’t seem to know he exists. While it may be difficult to picture a teen heartthrob dealing with that issue, it’s a topic that will certainly resonate with Mendes’ young fans. For most people in high school and college, love stinks.

Though the topic of unrequited love seems to be Mendes’ comfort zone, the Canadian singer does show growth in both the arrangement and writing. The impressively visceral lyrics (“Consuming all the air inside my lungs / Ripping all the skin from off my bones / I’m prepared to sacrifice my life / I would gladly do it twice”) are given legs by the stirring backing of a choir.

While Mendes’ sound continues to mature and grow in an exciting direction, the young singer still needs to work on finding inspiration outside of fictional heartbreak. Hopefully, the rest of Illuminate takes notes from his musical hero Ed Sheeran, who, while known for his love songs, has branched out to write about topics like the loss of family members and drug abuse.

Though an official music video hasn’t been released, Mendes has uploaded a number of short clips to Instagram showing the singer performing “Mercy” at the piano. The visuals are similar to his “Ruin” music video, which was shot at Madison Square Garden, and could even just be extra footage from that shoot, rather than a teaser for the official “Mercy” video.

Throughout the years, we’ve participated in the ice bucket challenge, the cinnamon challenge, the Kylie Jenner lip challenge… the list goes on and on. This month, it seems as though social media’s latest viral trend is the So Gone challenge, popularized by hip hop artist Chance The Rapper.

The rules to the So Gone challenge are simple: freestyle about whatever you’re passionate about over Monica’s “So Gone” instrumental, post it to social media, and use the hashtag #sogonechallenge.

The single was Monica’s 2003 version of Beyoncé’s “Don’t Hurt Yourself” (or, just Lemonade in general). In the song, Monica interchangeably sings and raps about her fictional good for nothing, cheating boyfriend. Fast forward to 13 years after the song’s release and everyone from Dwyane Wade to Kevin Hart is putting their own signature spin on it. Veering away from raps about love, Kevin Hart tells us all about his love for food… and the journey it takes afterwards.

Amy Schumer has been in the news this week thanks to the release of her first book The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo, but now the comedian is making headlines again, this time for a much more concerning reason.

Following comments made by comedian and Inside Amy Schumer writer Kurt Metzger, the future of Schumer’s show has now been called into question.

What began as a private matter last week in the comedy world has now become public information. After many female comedians came forward to reveal they had been sexually assaulted by a male comic, comedy group Upright Citizens Brigade made the decision to ban the male comedian from their shows and clubs after conducting their own investigation, possibly forgoing police involvement at the request of the victims.

Comedian Kurt Metzger, who has worked on Horace and Pete and all four seasons of Inside Amy Schumer, began victim-blaming in a series of rambling Facebook posts, shaming the victims for not going to the police and insinuating that the victims are all lying. He also called out what he feels is UCB’s unacceptable level of due diligence in their reaction towards the claims, which is essentially the pot calling the kettle black.

To reiterate just how hilarious Metzger thinks victim blaming is, he has updated his Facebook profile to list himself as the King of Feminism, as well as other less savoury titles.

Schumer has now commented on Metzger’s actions, but her statements are leading to more questions. Starting yesterday on Twitter, Schumer initially praises Metzger before attempting to distance herself.

Schumer’s second tweet is surprising for two reasons. One, at this point Metzger hasn’t been fired for his comments, a misstep for a show that has broken down barriers for women’s issues in comedy. Secondly, is Inside Amy Schumer done?

The show was renewed in January for a fifth season and Schumer quickly got back on Twitter to clear up her confusing remark.

Schumer goes on to say that she’s planning on spending the next year touring, with dates in North America, Europe, and Australia planned until December. She says that Season 5 of Inside Amy Schumer is still happening, but is vague about when the award-winning series will return.

Schumer ends her series of tweets encouraging fans to buy her new book. It’s worth noting that in The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo, Schumer writes not only about a physically abusive relationship with a boyfriend, but also about losing her virginity through non-consensual sex. No word on whether Metzger plans on calling out his former boss as well.

This Saturday, a nation will celebrate one of its most beloved bands when The Tragically Hip conclude their touring career with a swan song in their hometown of Kingston, Ontario. The concert will be broadcast to all of Canada for what promises to be one giant singalong.

We, too, will be joining in by dedicating the day to what we’ve deemed #TheHipOnMuch, starting at 6am ET.

We’ll be airing all of their music videos, from Small Town Bringdown to In A World Possessed By The Human Mind and everything in between. We’ve dug into the Much archives and unearthed interview clips through the years, plus some classic content. We’ve also reached out to musicians—including Sam Roberts, Arkells, Maestro, July Talk, Walk Off The Earth and more—for their memories. The day will be a celebration of all things Hip.

In deciding to put this together, many fans here at Much came out of the woodwork. Not only as fans – but people with deep stories about their memories, love of the music and even brushes with the band members.

I myself continue to be a fan after having first heard them over 25 years ago. I actually first sought employment at Universal Music because it was the label that distributed The Tragically Hip’s music. The idea of being on the inside and hearing the music before the masses was a dream. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing the band in countless small Toronto clubs, such as The Horseshoe Tavern, Lee’s Palace, The Phoenix and The Supermarket in Kensington, as well as arenas and large concert venues, like Massey Hall. I’ve traveled to their shows in Vermont, New York City and London, England, and festival appearances at Woodstock 99, Eden Music Festival, Molson Park and Another Roadside Attractions.

Last week, I attended the first of their three shows at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. I didn’t fully realize the magnitude of this tour until the encore. It’s a truly courageous and ambitious tour for the band, and I can only imagine the emotional, physical and spiritual drain it’s had on the whole team. This was a tour about a man doing what he was born to do. He’s an entertainer, a poet, a singer-songwriter, a dancer, a fighter, and above all, a beautiful human that gives his audience everything he has. That night in Toronto will forever live with me as a beautiful celebration of life through this iconic band’s music.
