Photo Shoot in the Parking Garage

2010-10-27T22:34:00.000-07:00

Just finished up shooting Keits in the new Parking Garage on campus. As I was setting up my lighting equipment, a police car rolled by and asked what I was doing. I replied, "Just a photo shoot of my friend's new car". He said,"Awesome, carry on!". Wiped a huge bunch of sweat from my brow after that, I hadn't even started shooting and I was sure he was going to tell me to leave. The empty garage was a perfect backdrop for her new Mini Cooper.

Cousins Photos!

2010-06-24T20:42:00.000-07:00

Hello everyone! Sorry it has been so long since an update, life has been really crazy with lots of weddings. I recently acquired some new pieces of kit and haven't had the chance to test them yet, but luckily my cousins were visiting today! Here are some samples from the fun!

Bratcher Wedding Rehearsal Photos!

2010-05-21T20:27:00.001-07:00

Today was a great day at Boxtree Lodge for Steven and Tasha's wedding rehearsal. Dad and I got to better plan out all the details for some critical shots as everyone stepped through the motions of the big day tomorrow. We got some great photos of everyone being nice and relaxed and enjoying each other's company. Look forward to more updates from the Wedding later this weekend!

New Gear Again!

2010-04-25T21:40:00.000-07:00

So my new Vagabond II power pack and 56" Moon Unit both came Thursday, but it has been miserable and rainy since then so I haven't had a chance to take it outside and give it a try. Until today!

There was a break in the rain, so Torin and Dustin and I grabbed the gear and headed over to the Payne Arch to do some shooting, then the rain began to POUR down from the heavens in cats and dogs fashion. We almost lost the moon unit to the wind a few times, but Dustin locked it down. I also had my 580EXII on a tripod as a secondary light.

The rain stopped and we were able to get our feet a little wet and try a few shots in the sunlight. I wanted to see if the ABR800 could overpower the sun if I put it to Torin's back, and it performed quite admirably! Hope you all like the photos and as always, stay tuned for more!

Alex Yates Photoshoot

2010-04-20T15:27:00.000-07:00

This was a really fun two-part shoot with my friend Alex Yates. He ordered this really swag jacket from Korea and I thought it would look really neat in a fashion-styled shoot. So we met up at Squires and navigated our way to a certain rooftop of one of the downtown buildings and lugged a few strobes and reflectors and such up and had a blast. It was still pretty bright out in the beginning, but we went and grabbed dinner and came back for some dusk/night photos too. It was a blast to shoot with this much equipment and with some help from Mary Kyle, all of it stayed in place. Here are some samples, but be sure to head over to the photo section of my page to see the whole set. Until next time!

Time Lapse Remote!

2010-04-20T09:24:00.000-07:00

It finally came! All the way from Hong Kong, and only 3 weeks from when I ordered it, my remote arrived intact and working. Removing it from the interestingly labeled package, there was the remote, a battery, and an instruction book which has all kinds of hilarious translations inside.

New Gear!

2010-04-07T15:00:00.000-07:00

The second battery for my 7D came yesterday along with the Sto-Fen Omnibounce for my 580EXII. All I am waiting on now is the intervalometer I ordered from Hong Kong. I plopped the battery into my grip, and slid the omnibounce diffuser onto the flash and then did some test shots around my suite. Let me know what you think!

New Gear Arrival and Unboxing!

2010-03-31T09:40:00.000-07:00

Hello everyone! Just got some new gear in the mail yesterday and like a complete nerd I took unboxing photos! Over the next few days I should have quite a few things coming in the mail, but the big two things that came yesterday are the Rode VideoMic, and the Battery Grip for the 7D. I am pretty excited about how my kit is starting to look, and the possibilities forthcoming for video work. Keep checking back for more updates!

Stay posted for more updates!

Tattoo Shop Part II

2010-03-28T11:44:00.000-07:00

Just finished up the Tattoo shoot for Chris Toler at Ancient Art. He is a stellar tattoo artist and I highly recommend him to anyone looking to get work done.

So I arrived right before the stencil was being placed, and had to set up the 20D on a tripod with the computer for the time lapse, and also get setup to photograph the session. The time lapse went off without a hitch, thank goodness only a week until I have the new remote so I won't have to use my computer, and the tattoo looks amazing. A shiny dripping zombie just came to life (or death) in only 2 hours. Chris' shading is impeccable, and his focus as an artist was really something. I was lucky to get one photo of the needles as he was tattooing, and when I blew it up to full resolution you can see them putting ink into the skin! So cool. A few samples are below!

Chelsea Crane Shoot

2010-03-27T10:47:00.000-07:00

Just finished up with Chelsea's photoshoot this morning, Jared assisted me with his light and reflector holding prowess. Started in the studio with some basic headshots, and then moved out into the alleys nearby for some more fashion looking work. Had a great time and look forward to editing the rest of the images. Thanks Chelsea!

Headed to the tattoo shop for the next shoot today!
