Research has revealed that some single women are now complaining due to over scarcity of suitors in the country. It is the desire of most ladies to get hooked to a man at certain age brackets for support, procreation and affection. But all around today, we have many single ladies with no suitors. There are many single ladies and as well as bachelors who would want to get married, but the fear of uncertainty of the future of the union have really prevented many from doing so owing to unpredicatable economic situation.
Reports showed that there were enough women and men who really wanted to get married but it appeared both sides do not want to gamble into it to avoid devastating consequences and regrets in the future. One of the ladies, who preferred to be simply called Titi said she had taken the issue of marriage as a do-or-die affair due to “internal pressure” but that as much as she had tried, frustration had often been the result. At 37, the businesswoman who sells clothes in Ikeja, the Lagos State capital in western Nigeria, disclosed that she is not finding life easy.

“What is happiness without a man in a woman’s life?”she asked our correspondent during a chat. She had dated several men with some promising marriage, but without fulfilling the promise.

“You can’t imagine that in the last three years, I have dated about eight men, but the relationship was often short-lived simply because I ask for their commitment.I am not getting any younger and I cry every time I see my mates with their husbands and children.If at 37 I don’t have a child or a permanent man, when would I have them? Is it when my skin has wrinkled? she asked our correspondent

Miss Karia Anumba, 41, lamented that she had lived and changed many cities in Nigeria looking for suitors but those she met were afraid because they were not sure of the future of the marriage. She revealed that she tried to convince and persuade the men she had contact with to make the move and even assured them that she would manage no matter the condition, but regretted that none of them agreed to marry her. Anumba said she quickly relocated to Lagos from Abuja when she realized that she was gradually turning into prostitute because of the drive for marriage.
She explained that since she came to Lagos, she had engaged herself with a work and was still searching for interested men but yet to get one. She narrated that some men who were above 40 years still roamed about and do not want to get married; attributing it to fear and economic condition as most of them were jobless.

Bose (surname withheld), 37, has found herself patronising many of the social interaction sites on the internet.The banker told our correspondent that she is on Eskimi, 2go, Badoo, Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter as well as 4clique and Instagram just to look for life partner.

“We can’t tell the particular broom in the bunch that kills a fly,” she said on why she patronises such number of social interaction sites. “I always change my name in the different sites but the ultimate goal is to get a husband,” she added. Bose reveals that she is really worried about the situation, adding that she lives comfortably (in a mini-flat and has a car), “but who do I have to enjoy this comfort with me?

“I have tried a hook up programme on a Lagos-based radio station, but my age is now a major factor hindering my dream of being married,” she lamented pleading with our married correspondent, who she considered a bachelor, to “help dry my tears.”

A married woman, who gave her name as Mrs. Blessing Aguebor and resident in Oshodi, confirmed that the issue of lack of serious men for marriage is giving many ladies sleepless nights. She narrated the touching story of her friend who was disappointed by her boyfriend of five years when it was time to “settle down”.

“My friend was 29 when he met this man in Benin and they dated for five years. The man was always giving the lady hope without her knowing the man had other plans. The year he fixed for their marriage was the year he travelled abroad without even informing my friend. It was later he called her and asked her to find another man because he still had many more years to hustle. My friend almost went mad. She is 36 now without a man. I had to convince her to relocate to Lagos so that possibly out of the population here, she would find someone. It is pathetic,” she said.
A 38-year old business woman in Ketu, narrated how she lost her first husband to a friend, Idayat, who was desperate for a husband. According to Mrs. Adewunmi who remarried last year, Idayat was 36 and needed a husband but her search was endless.

“I was always encouraging her and made her a part of my family. She would always help me take care of the kids when I go to the market. With time, she took over my husband without my knowledge until the day I caught them red-handed and that was the end of my marriage. Ladies are like hunters these days,” she said.

Asked why she was not married at 34, Blessing, a nurse with a private hospital in Abuja, retorted: “that is why I’m on this social site. Why are you asking? Is it a bad idea if you propose to me?”

She explained that life was becoming unbearable without a husband.

“My friends and family members are aways asking when they would come and ‘chop’ rice, and I keep hoping,” she added.

A marriage counsellor in Lagos, Mrs. Victoria Aliu, told P.M.NEWS that scarcity of ‘real men’ is becoming a terrible condition for women ready for marriage. She blamed the problem partly on the Nigerian economy, confusion among the bachelors on their choices of the women they want as wives and the attitudes of the spinsters.

“Many women, whether consciously or not, behave irritably sometimes, forgetting that the man just beside them at every point in time may just have been nursing how to start a conversation that could lead to marriage. Some other ladies are very choosy and unserious at their early stages of adulthood. They only open their eyes to discover that their friends are all married and that they are the only ones left at the bus stop. Then it becomes a terrible case for them,” she explained.

According to MailOnline, a source informed the paper that the idea the club is airbrushing Ronaldo is a "solid one", but added this isn't unusual.

Firstly on social media. Shortly after Ronaldo parted company with Real Madrid the club stopped following him on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
Ronaldo responded by doing the same thing back. Manchester United, for the record, still follow their former number seven to this day.
Real Madrid have also opted against sharing a picture of Ronaldo alongside Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Luka Modric and Marcelo when showing off their players selected in UEFA's team of 2018 on the club website.
Of course Ronaldo no longer players for Real Madrid, but he did when he was selected in the world's-best XI, and was Los Blancos' standout individual.

Manchester United have accidentally confirmed the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the club's interim manager.
After Jose Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday, the club's former striker was widely speculated to be United's choice to take over on a temporary basis.
And, in a quickly-deleted post on the club's website, United confirmed the Norwegian's appointment as caretaker boss.
"Solskjaer becomes our interim manager, 20 years after clinching the Treble with THAT goal at Camp Nou," the caption read, referencing Solskjaer's famous winner in the 1999 Champions League final.
If that weren't enough evidence that Solskjaer was set to take over at Old Trafford, Norway's prime minister herself weighed in with a tweet that she also quickly deleted.
Solskjaer became a club legend during his career, scoring 128 goals in 367 appearances for the United during 10 seasons at Old Trafford.
After his playing career ended, Solskjaer took his first steps into coaching when he became United's striker coach, and later took charge of United's reserve side.
The former Norway international returned to his home country for his first managerial role in 2011, when he was named head coach at Molde.
Solskjaer won two titles at Molde before returning to the Premier League to take the helm of Cardiff City, a move that did not work out and saw him sacked in September 2014.

Mourinho has continued to drop hints that he remains unhappy at that failure to spend big, and he now leaves after two-and-a-half years at the Old Trafford helm, with his final match in charge Sunday's 3-1 defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool.
"Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect," a statement read .
"The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.
"A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager."

Buhari approves NYSC, Law School for NOUN graduates

President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to the National Open University Amendment Act, to allow the institution to operate as all other universities in the country.

Daily Trust reports that with the assent, the graduates of the NOUN can now participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the Nigerian Law School.

Presidential Assistant on National Assembly (Senate), Senator Ita Enang announced the assent of the President while addressing State House reporters in Abuja.

” President Buhari has also assented to National Open University Amendment Act, which allows the National Open University to operate as all other universities, having the same power and functions and the same administrative structures eliminating possible discrimination as some use to want to have on its products and programmes.

” It has also allowed the establishment of some centers to be called study centers and given conditions for the establishment of such study centers,” he said.

The National Assembly had passed a bill for An Act to Amend the National Open University Act Cap N6 LFN 1983 (Amendment) Bill 2017’.

Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-rufai, said that he has better things to do with his life than being the governor of Kaduna State.

He promised to concede defeat to whoever wins the 2019 governorship election in the state.

Speaking at the event organized by the Kaduna State Peace Commission in partnership with AID Foundation Development Peace Initiative, United States Institute of Peace, Nigeria Bar Association and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, governor El-Rufai said, “l should spend most of my time with my family which I have not done in the last 10 years.”

While calling on politicians to shun politics of bitterness, he said election was not a war but a competition that at the end of it will have a winner.

His words, “When politicians give weapons and drugs to young people for electoral purposes, then what do you do with them after you win? They become monsters that will be difficult to deal with.

“We have no thugs in the APC, all those that campaign with us, we try to empower and give them employment so that they can be off the streets.

“If you don’t find job for this people, they are the one who become soldiers for Boko-Haram, kidnappers and involved themselves in other criminal activities.

“For us as state government, we must continue to govern and these are very serious issues for us.”

He said politicians should conduct themselves during the campaign and avoid using hate speeches, adding that campaign should be issue-based.

Governor El-rufai reiterated his commitment towards ensuring that whoever was found using the social media to incite the killing of people in Kaduna would be brought to book.

“We are determined and we are doing that vigorously. We do not care about what people said, either you call yourselves Bishop, Imam, Sheikh, Chief or District head, we will bring them to justice.

“We are on the trail of those who have done that, some in Abuja, some in Lagos and we will bring them to Kaduna and charge them for hate speeches and we will not politicise it, because the protection of lives and property should never be politicised,” he explained.

He appealed to politicians to put the people first, saying they should adhere to the tenets of religion, as no religion preaches hatred.

El-Rufai drags ABU, KadPoly to court over N9.50bn unremitted taxes

Kaduna State Government, through its Board of Internal Revenue, has taken two federal government institutions domiciled in the state, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Kaduna Polytechnic, over failure to remit N9.50bn taxes due for the state.

Presenting the case before the North West Zone of the Tax Appeal Tribunal on Wednesday, the State board of internal revenue said it is dragging ABU for unremitted Pay-As-You-Earn and withholding taxes, totaling N6.16bn.

According to the board, the amount was for all the taxes due for the Kaduna State government, but were unremitted, between 2007 and 2012.

The tribunal, which has just been newly reconstituted, with Umaru M. Adamu as Chairman, also attended to tax issues against Kaduna Polytechnic, brought before it for unremitted personal income taxes and withholding taxes, for the period, 2007 and 2012, totalling N3.34bn.

Similarly, the Kano state Board of Inland Revenue will on Thursday, take before the tribunal, appeals to determine whether they were entitled to recover from the National Orthopedic and another, the sum of N18.6m.

The amount is also for withholding and PAYE taxes, due for the 2011 and 2012 year of assessment.

Bayero University Kano, alongside the Hon Minister of Education and the Hon Minister of Finance, were also brought before the tribunal with respect to withholding taxes and PAYE taxes, for 2004, to 2009 year of assessment, in the sum of N1.82bn.

The Tax Appeal Tribunal was established pursuant to Section 59 (I) and the Fifth Schedule of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2007.

It was specifically set up to adjudicate on all disputes arising from operations of the Companies Income Tax Act, Petroleum Profit Tax Act, Capital Gains Tax Act, Stamp Duties Act, Value Added Tax, Taxes and Levies among others.

The tribunal, which was inaugurated by the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed on November 5 had about 209 cases that are pending at the various Tax Appeal Tribunals across the country.

The monetary value of 209 pending cases across the six geo-political zones of the Tax Appeal Tribunal is $18.80bn, N205.65bn and €0.821m based on figures provide by the ministry of finance

South Africa has increased its minimum wage to N126,480 per month. The news is coming at a time Nigerian workers are uncertain their struggle for a N30, 000 minimum wage would yield result.

The Global Wage Report 2018/19 released yesterday reveals that the world’s wage growth also hit a 10-year low, the last of its kind being in 2007.

President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa said the wage, which would come into effect January 1, 2019, would benefit about six million workers that currently earn R3,700 (N97,495).
One South African Rand exchanges for N26.35. This means South African workers would be earning N527 per hour: N4,216 per day and N126,480 per month. Their Nigerian counterparts currently earn N75 per hour, which is N600 per day (at eight working hours per day) and N18,000 per month.
Paid N30,000 as minimum wage, Nigerian workers would be earning N125 per hour or N1,000 per day, which amounts to N30,000 monthly.
Compared, a Nigerian worker would be earning less than a quarter of what the South African takes home monthly.
Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Ayuba Wabba said labour would soon meet to draw up a timetable within which government would be expected to conclude work on the new wage.

Banks are worried they may lose customers to MTN

Nigerian Deposit Money Banks (DMBs), according to industry sources, are nervous following the recent announcement by telco giant, MTN of its readiness to apply for a Payment Service Bank (PSB) licence and launch mobile banking in Nigeria by the second quarter of next year.

As other telecommunications are also billed to go into mobile banking, the banks are worried that the MTN announcement, which came in the wake of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) release of guidelines on PSBs, would make the business environment, which was already tough for lenders, even tougher.

A senior industry player said with a PSB licence, MTN’s subscriber base of over 50 million clearly gives the telco an edge over banks.

The industry player further stressed that compared to banks, the telcos have a bigger budget and better technical know-how to drive mobile banking.

I Tried to Prove Islam Evil, I Ended up Becoming Muslim

As-salamu Alaykum! My name is Miranda. I am a muslim revert who found Islam in 2001. I am from Texas, USA. I was a christian my whole life, well today I am going to post my story here on how I found Islam, mainly because I want to hopefully inspire others so here it is….

So I grew up in a very devout Catholic/Christian home. The only times Islam was discussed was when it was on the news and it was never good. When I was 14 almost 15 it was 9-11 (September 11) and there was a 9-11 TRIBUTE on the news about the towers and all of that. Well there was a Muslimah that was crying and was explaining to a news reporter that her husband got killed in the 9-11 event as well and that Islam was a peaceful Religion.. Well part of me wanted to believe her but when I asked questions about her to my family they told me that “She’s just deceiving, that’s what Muslims do, they’re evil and they lie”

Well I felt extremely bad for the Muslim lady. Anyways so that got me a little curious but I still hated Islam cause that’s how I grew up, so anyways a few months later I turned 15 and I was a freshman in high school and we had to write an essay about our religion of choice. I chose Islam to write about thinking I was gonna prove how evil Islam was. We couldn’t get verses of the Quran off some random website, no we had to go to the Quran or Hadith to get verses and stuff because we had to have an exact source because in our essay we also had to write down what our source was.

Anyways so I finished my essay and I couldn’t find anything evil in the Quran. There were a few verses that do indeed promote fighting, however they link to the days where disbelievers attacked first and we as Muslims had to protect ourself. Anyways so that kind of opened my mind up to Islam however I still told myself that it was evil because that’s how I grew up and I wasn’t gonna like Islam (I told myself that). Anyways so a few months pass and it’s around December and I have a very vivid dream. I saw a white horse with what looked like an Arab on the horse. He had a long beard and he was staring straight at me and all I heard very loudly was a long sentence with Allah’s name. I could only understand Allah and remember the word Allah in what I was hearing.

So the next morning I woke up remembered my dream and I went on YouTube and I was trying to find videos of what I may have heard. I put in key words like Allah and I found a YouTube video. I clicked on it after a lot of searching, I listened to it and finally I found what I heard in my dream and once I heard it I was POSITIVE that’s what I heard, and that was the Shahada. Never in my life have I heard the Shahada before my dream. I was in shock and from that day on my heart and mind has forever been changed. Alhamdulilah 😊 I didn’t officially take shahada until June 16 2014 but I can say I’ve become a better person and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m now 20 years old and I am BLESSED.
