Institutions such as hospitals, sewage treatment plants, mines, etc., will usually have backup power sources, such as standby generators, which will automatically start up when electrical power is lost. But such a huge amount of power outages are making bad examples of the
the so called "efficient Power Management" in a developing country like INDIA.

In 2008, the Indian government pledged to provide “power for all” by 2012. It’s already near mid 2011 and these power cuts remain to be a big problem. There can be no denials of the FACT that the base of the development on a place lies on the basic infrastructure setup over there.

According to latest report of "Crowd-sourcing Power Cuts in India" more than 200 district headquarters,13 state capitals,3 metropolis had an average power-cuts in the range of (2-3) hours of power-cut daily. The statistical data is based on the reports from several persons over the micro-blogging site TWITTER and can be found in real time on the site"powercuts.in" using Google tagging. The site also lets you report power-cuts in your city.
Get used:)

Voting in elections through your Mobile(mvoting)

Mobile communication systems of today provide increased availability, miniaturization and enhanced data rates. This emergence is expected to enhance the deployment of mobile systems in many services. One area of activity is mobile Election (one of the first areas of transaction using mobile devices).

With long lines expected at polling for any elections, many young and less young voters may be wondering today “why couldn't I vote with my mobile phone”? Wouldn’t that be easier than taking time-off and fighting the crowd? After all, the younger generation is already used to shopping mobile, paying mobile and even voting via SMS for many entertainment series or opinion surveys… so why not mobile voting ensure a fair election?

In a country(India) where over 800 million people are eligible to vote and more than half that number have mobile phones (600 million according TRAI data).

In this regard Mobile technology-IVR can be used for election polling. A Person will need to call a Number authorized by the Election Committee. First the person will be evaluated. Asking for the biometric election card number. An algorithm may be implemented for security reasons. Once the person is authorized, he can continue with the polling process. After that IVR will play the various parties contesting in elections. Based on the User inputs, polling will be recorded. User inputs can either be DTMF or Speech Recognition.

Get used:)
