Birds do it, bees do it and apparently 1 in 3 men do it. It's not even a shocking revelation any more. But why? Is there anything that we as women can do to prevent it? Are we destined to live our lives with cheatin' men? Not that women don't do their fair share of dirt...this just ain't about that.

Many of you may have heard of or seen the series "Black in America" hosed by Soledad O'Brien and aired this summer on CNN. It was broken down into categories like Black Women and Family, Black Men and the King assassination. The topic of interracial dating and marriage even came up. Do you think that we are making great strides with the mainstream media finally looking at this topic or is it the same old same old, because we're still talking about it?

Some would say that young love is just that; immature, uncertain, under-developed emotions that stir participants into blind and reckless behavior. This could be an taken as a generalization or stereotype, neither of which reflect one's ability for rational thought while in love. But when has love ever been rational or logical? How many times have we been told to listen to our hearts, even when every other body part is speaking a different language. Have you ever been in love and it made no sense at all? Did you stop? Why not?

Fear of intimacy is different than fear of commitment. You can be married and not know your partner emotionally, intellectually, or spiritually. In fact, loneliness in marriage is more difficult than being lonely as a single person or widow. Marital loneliness springs from fear of intimacy in one or both partners. What causes this phobia and what can be done to prevent or stop it?

No matter where you are the big news everywhere seems to be the economy. If it's not the housing crisis, it's gas prices. We wont even talk about the price of milk and bread these days. I can't begin to tell you how many people I know that say that not only can they "not" afford to go out on a date, they can't haven't even just hang out at the club or bar in hopes of meeting someone that they can't afford to date. So, what do you do?

There's nothing like an old thing with a new twist. Recently in California the very first proclaimed "green speed dating" event took place. So, in addition to dating 10-20 different people in one night and not have to buy one single drink. You also get to fill up your three minutes with stories about how "green" you are. Is niche dating the way of the future? Personally, I'd like to host an "interracial-green-pet-loving-tall guys who love short women with big butts" speed dating event...any takers?

Have you ever thought about what kind of dater you are? Are you purpose driven or passion driven? What's the difference? Well, some people date to have a good time, not be alone, meet new people and make new friends and acquaintances. Others date with the sole intent to find a mate, get married and start a family. Which are you and are you seeking other daters or mate'ers? Before you go out on your next date you must know the answer to this question... am I a dater or a mate'er.

September is National Preparedness Month the time of year where you prepare yourself and your families. Find out how being prepared for a disaster can get you ready for love too.

You know that I'm a big fan for dating your preference. Even if that preference is limiting you. It's always your right to choose. It's easy for us hopeless romantics to say that everyone should be open to the possibility of love, no matter where it comes from. Would you lie to get the chance to meet someone or to go out on a date? Just how far are you willing to go to find what you're looking for?

Some think it may be a cultural thing. For many races other than African American's, friends and families even communities have embraced or at least accepted the gay lifestyle. Black men on the other hard, are still having a very difficult time. At least that's what J.L. King, author of "On the Down Low: A Journey into the Lives of "Straight" Black Men Who Sleep with Men", seems to believe. Are the guys that are living this double life taking too big a risk with your life?

Depending on who is doing the prowling there has always been a name for it... "Lolita, Boy Toys, Jail bait and now Cougars". It really boils down to the coupling of two individuals where there is an considerable age difference. Cougars are the older women hooking up with hot young men for SEX! They even have a movie about them. Not a good movie, but it just tells you how popular this "coupling" has become for the older women that take on a younger man. Is it an option for you? I guess it all depends on how young you feel and what you're looking for.

How many of us have stopped short of finding that right "whatever", because there was a small barrier that came between us and that "thing".
So, here we are 4-months into the New Year and already I've started hanging clothes on my tread-mill and putting on my tennis shoes to go for a quick jog... to my car to go and check the mail. When will this madness end? I know that there are plenty of fun workouts that I can do that won't get boring after the second month...why oh why can't I just do it?

First, I must tell you that I am not the one that picks the photos that go with the articles. If I were, I would have picked that hot steamy one from last month to go with this article. I'm a little scarred to see what picture will go with this one. However, I'm not at all fearful of using my imagination to engage in what the article suggests.

Loving Day?

In my travels through the wonderful World Wide Web, I've come upon a great MySpace page and made some new friends. You always hear about the dangers of some of the internet social clubs but rarely about the feel good messages and lessons that are shared and learned. Check it out for yourself and tell me what you think...www.myspace.com/lovingday. We don't have to wait until June, every day should be a loving day!

"Cause it was wearing my new pair of shoes"!

It's happened to the best of us. Somebody somewhere out there is going through it right now. They've even written songs about it over and over, remember "I'll never love this way again"? Or, "Love don't live here anymore"? If your love life were a soundtrack, what would the titles be? How do you learn from your mistakes and survive to sing a happier tune?

You must sing this to the melody of Crosby, Stills and Nash's "Love the one you're with"...

If you're down and confused
And you're tired of satisfying you
hornyness is here to stay

And your baby is so far away.
Well, pack your coat and a glove
Take a plane that flies above
Cause if you can't be with the one you love
Pay someone to have sex with

Love the one you're with Okay, so it needs a little work, you get the idea right? Have you ever had the notion to pay for play? It's the oldest known profession, somebody is out there doing it, would you?

Being a size 18 in a size 8 world.

First...happy New Year to all. Leticia is back and I have a few things to get off my chest, stomach, thighs and where...back there too! Let me be very honest with you, I did not realize that this was as big a problem until I started to write about it. The truth is I was always this chunky cute little kid, (that is after I got back from Philadelphia for the summer...another long emotional story from my childhood, and an entirely different article). Now when I say chunky I wore a size 11, 12, 13 for as long as I remember. By no means was I the original Star Jones but I certainly was not her new bobble head skinny post-surgery twin either.

Not all relationships are fair or equal...when it comes to sex that is. Every relationship is different because every couple is different. We all have different sex drives, different erogenous zones and even different turn-offs. Some of us want it and could have sex every single day. Others are happy with once or twice a week, month or on a yearly basis...Parrish the thought. It's orgasmic bliss when both partners are on the same page. It's frustration and pure hell when they are not.

You love the way they look, act, walk, talk and dream. They love all the things that the kids use to tease you about in grade school.
Breaking habits... before they break you...

Addictions come in all shapes, sizes and categories. For some it's drugs, alcohol, sex or shopping. For others it could be driving the same way to work every single day, buying the same type of shoes, clothes, cars or dated the same kind of person. How do we break habits that may not be "technically" hurting us, but they aren't helping us either?

This is what I heard after I answered a phone call. If it was anyone else I would have to wonder if there was some prejudice in their heart that they just haven't come to grips with. But, we're talking about my oldest dearest friend. Her comments and my reaction was an eye opener for us both.

Dating after Divorce!

I realize that after a divorce for some of us the last thing on our mind was dating...ever! However, with all things, timing is everything. How do you know when it's time for you to get back in the dating pool? Do you jump off the diving board or just dip your feet in the shallow end? Ever thought about swimming in different waters, say a lake, river or maybe even an ocean? Not only are there other fish in the sea, there's turtles, whales, crab, etc., the choices are endless.

I'm not a real hypochondriac, but I some times play one in real life (so, I'm told). Actually, I remember back in high school learning for the first time about narcolepsy. I was convinced that I suffered from it. Literally, from my head to my toes, I've thought that I've had everything from a brain tumor to gangrene in my right leg. Here are a few tips on how to take better care of your body...from head to toe.

Another story about racism in America

A homecoming display at a High School was suppose to rally school spirit for the night's homecoming game, what it did was upset students and parents and caused the principal to call a town meeting. The display depicted a Viking football player in the claws of a falcon. Parents and students thought that it looked like someone being hanged. Have we become so damn sensitive that every action must be held under a racial microscope? Or are we not sensitive enough to those that still suffer the pains of their forefathers?

Everyone has their own "rules to live by" right? It's not that I have my rules etched on scroll or cinderblock, however, they are well preserved in that safe private and safe place called...my head. One of my rules is that I do not discuss religion or politics with just anybody. Try having a discussion about Interracial dating and religion.

With the release of Michael Moore's new documentary Sicko, we are once again reminded that the health care system in America is severely under the weather. It seems that you're only as healthy as your coverage. The thing that really made me go "WTF?" wasn't how many American's are without insurance, but how many that do have it are still being under-serviced or over charged or just being sold an umbrella with a hole in it.

Recently I received a copy of this clip from a friend that does a late night show on a Chicago radio station. The topic hit close to home so I thought that I'd share it with you all. What are your thoughts on black "male" celebrities that choose to only date women outside of their race? Do you think that there's a group of women out there that "train" their daughters to snatch grab and marry a black athlete? Do people really believe this stuff? Don't think that it's ONLY black men that do it either. Is it really a matter of choice or SOCIAL conditioning?

The reality is that I'm still coming down off of last month's discovery of me possibly being a racist. I'm not sure how much more I can take.
Last year Paula Zahn did a report called "Skin-Deep: racism in America". In the show there were several interviews with "race experts" and political figures. A test was given that told you if you had the penchant towards a particular race. Well, I found the test on-line and took it. The results surprised me at first, then it made me wonder if... I could be a racist?

The Story of Shaquanda Cotton

And you thought the doll test was hard to watch...

One girl burns down a house, one shoves a teacher's aid.
They were both 14 in a small Texas town and sat before the same Texas judge. One goes free, the other to jail. One was white and the other was black...the year 2006. But what does this have to do with dating?

Moving In or Moving On!

All relationships have stages. The movement from one stage to another is determined by the people in that relationship. How do you know if it's time for you to take the "next step" or keep on stepping...out of your relationship? What are the signs that mark the beginning of the end? How do you determine your next move?

Last year an estimated 10,000 women in the United States were diagnosed with this type of cancer and nearly 4,000 were estimated to have died from it. According to a Health Information National Trends survey, put out by the National Cancer Institute in 2005, only 40% of American women surveyed had heard of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and only 20% had heard of its link to cervical cancer. So, how about we increase the number of people that are aware in an attempt to decrease the number of victims?

Okay now, it's me your feisty little goal reminding conscience here to check on you and see how it's going with those 2007 goals? I'm noticing that not many people are making comments about the Goal Setting articles. Is this because you're too busy writing down your goals or you've already given up? This would be a good time to "share" with all your potential "friends, lovers and whatevers", what you do to stay spiritually in-tuned. Not every one believes in the same things, but most of us believe in something. What are your beliefs? Is it difficult to stay focused when the world provides so many distractions?

For the longest time when we talked about racism it was about black and white. The word discrimination comes from the Latin "discriminare", which means to "distinguish between". To discriminate generally is to make a distinction between people on the basis of class, age, sex and of course race, without regard to individual merit. Have we really improved in the category of race relations or just found another group to "pick on"?

We've made it to the second month of the year. How are those goals and resolutions holding up? I recently touched base with a former co-worker from 10 years ago. Her email stated "still here...hopefully that won't change for me. Don't have the smarts or the ambition for anything else. I live in a cubicle eight hours a day with more layers of bosses than most onions...but, it pays the bills"! Does this sound like you or someone you know?
