In this week's circular, the office products chain is selling Windows Vista Home Premium for $99. It won't happen. So instead of sitting back and waiting for a miracle to occur, just get out there and find the perfect video game testing job for you.

Head straight to the game companies and developers and apply for testing jobs. Since they aren't looking for you, the only logical step is to actively search for them. Once you find them (which shouldn't take too long), apply for a game tester position with them and then repeat the process for as many different companies as humanly possible.

On your application/resume, brag about all of your video game achievements, such as the consoles you own, the games you've played, the games you own, the MMORPGs you are apart of, and anything else that shows how much experience you have with video games. And if you want to help your cause even further, create a website/blog that talks about video games, gives reviews, previews, cheats, hints, tips, etc.

You have to remember that experience and professionalism count for a lot in this industry. Therefore, the more experience you have and the more professional you are, the better your chances are for getting a video game tester job.

Step Two: Step Out of Fairy Tale Land and Into Reality

You have to realize that video game testing is a job. Yes, it's a really fun job, but it is still a job nonetheless. This means that you have to treat it as such and take every part of it seriously. Don't merely sit down and play the game to have a good time. Sit down and play the game so that you can collect a paycheck when you're through.

Many "wanna-be" testers believe that being a professional video game tester is a "no work, all play" type of career. Honestly, they couldn't be more wrong. Although there aren't huge amounts of work that a game tester must wade through, there are still a few things that he/she has to complete. For instance, filling out reports. Surprised? Well, most aspiring young testers are when they hear that there is actual work involved with video game testing.

Contrary to what you may have thought, you won't be simply playing games and giving your opinion on whether they are good or not. You will actually be testing them. You will play through a game, find any bugs or glitches, and then fill out reports on any problems that you come across. This is to help the developers and programmers locate and fix those problems. You don't have to be an English professor or a college graduate to write bug reports, but you will have to have basic writing skills. Aside from the reports, you will also be required to fill out numerous questionnaires; which are typically opinion based.

As soon as you accept the fact that you'll be doing actual work as a video game tester, you will have much more success finding testing jobs.

Sean Sanders

aLL about iPod

A Brief History Of iPod

iPod is a digital mp3 / mp4 player developed and marketed by Apple Inc., an American consumer electronics multinational corporation. During their research, Apple found that in comparison to available camcorders, digital cameras, and organizers; digital music players recorded poor sales, primarily due to their awful user interfaces. Apple wanted to do something about it and so Jon Rubinstein, Apple's hardware engineering chief brought together a team comprising of Tony Fadell (who dreamed of a hard disk based music player), Michael Dhuey (hardware engineer), Jonathan Ive (design engineer), and Stan Ng (marketing manager). In less than a year, they designed a hard disk based music player, that had a 5 GB hard drive and capable of storing 1000 songs.

Apple's iTunes software is utilized to operate the iPod (m3 / mp4 player). The software is compatible with all Mac systems. The operating system is stored on its hard disk. A boot loader program is contained in a NOR flash ROM chip (either 1 MB or 512 KB) which instructs the device to load the operating system from the hard disk. The iPod has a 32 MB of RAM, a portion of which is used to hold the operating system from firmware, and the rest is used to cache songs from the hard disk. Apple also invented a technology whereby the hard disk of iPod could spin up once and about 30 MB of upcoming songs could be cached into the RAM. This did not require the hard disk to spin up for every song and thereby saved battery power. Apple also introduced a Windows version of iPod, at a later stage.

The audio files that iPod (mp3 / mp4 player) supports are MP3, AAC/M4A, Protected AAC, AIFF, WAV, Audible audiobook, and Apple Lossless audio file formats. MIDI and WMA files can be played only after a convertor accomplishes conversion, for non-Digital Rights Management (DRM). Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, and other open-source audio formats are not supported at all.

Apple wanted an extremely user friendly interface and thus adopted the minimalist interface, which features only five essential buttons, namely, Menu (to access functions and to toggle the backlight); Center (for menu item selection); Play/ Pause (this also works as an off switch when held for few seconds); Skip Forward/ Fast Forward; and Skip Backwards/ Fast Reverse. An additional Hold button is provided for accidental button pressing prevention, and it can reset the iPod if it has frozen or crashed. Functions such as volume control, scrolling are handled by the usage of the rotational click wheel. Later models have some minor changes in the functions of the buttons but overall the number of buttons has remained at five.

To market this path-breaking mp3 / mp4 player, they needed a suitable futuristic name and so they hired a freelance copywriter, Vinnie Chieco, and other writers to give a name. Inspired by the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey and the dialogue "Open the pod bay door, Hal!" with reference to the context of the Discovery One spaceship and its white EVA Pods, Vinnie Chieco proposed the name of the product as iPod. The management of Apple accepted the proposed name and on 23 October 2001, the iPod was officially launched. The rest they say is history.

To enable customers to access songs of their choice, Apple opened up an online media store The iTunes Store on 29 April 2003, where individual songs could be downloaded at prices less than a U.S. dollar per song. The purchased songs can be played only on iPods. Subsequent versions of this iPod (mp3 / mp4 player) also featured video capabilities, and thus iTunes Store started selling short videos from 12 October 2005. From 12 September 2006, full-length movies were also available at the iTunes Store.

iPods have come a long way from their inception, and now the latest fifth generation iPods possess multimedia capabilities and are available in both Mac OS and Windows OS versions. Usually, if a new iPod is plugged into a Mac OS computer, then the hard disk of this mp3 / mp4 player is formatted as per the HFS+ file format, and if it plugged into a Windows OS computer, it is formatted as per the FAT32 file format. From being a digital music player, the iPod has now transformed into a digital media player.

source

Game Boy Story

Game Boy 101 – Everything You Need To Know

by: Timothy Rudon

The Game Boy, a handheld game console was released by Nintendo in 1989. The most popular game as Tetris and that sold over three million copies in the US alone. In fact people bought Game Boy to play Tetris. Extremely successful Game Boy has advanced versions the Game Boy Color and the Game Boy Advance both of which have sold 75 million as of 2006.

The characteristics of Game Boy are:

• The handheld video game system has interchangeable cartridges.

• Game Boy has been a leader in the game industry for several years. The leadership was the result of a high quality product that had content especially created for it.

• The system has high tech liquid crystal display that lent great graphics in black and green. Took gaming to levels it had never seen before.

• Game Boy was the first to enable multi-player gaming. It had a port through which connections could be made.

• Players could enjoy the games in full stereo.

• The Game Boy used disposable AA batteries that allowed 35 hours of game play.

• The original Game Boy came in different colors: grey, black, green, red, yellow, and clear.

The classic Game Boy was followed by aversion known as Game Boy Pocket which had all the features but had a black and white display. This was followed by the Game Boy Color or GBC, this had a super processor, was backwards compatible, and had an infra red port that allowed wireless transfer between two systems. Then came the GBA or Game Boy Advance , a full twelve years after the gaming world was gifted the Game Boy Classic. The GBA wove the magic all over again. It had superb graphics, speed, and great quality. Everything a gamer wished for the GBA provided.

The GBA was succeeded by GBA SP and Game Boy Micro. The Micor is smaller than the I-Pod and is the smallest gaming system ever. The unit plays the full gamut of GBA games but is not backwards compatible.

Nintendo has kept a hand on the pulse of the gaming market and come out with winners each time. Gaming consoles that are the best and yet affordable. The company has a Game Boy website http://www.nintendo.com/channel/gba that provides answers to every Game Boy fans needs. From health and safety precautions to an online store the website fulfils every need.

The Game Boy is no ordinary gaming system to many it’s a family tradition.

source

Secret to become TOP WRITERS !

Write Songs Like The Pros With This Powerful And Proven Technique
By: Ron Balagot

For many years, professional/top writers (writers in general...and not just songwriters) have been using a powerful and proven technique that separates them from beginners.

And now, I'd like to share this secret technique with you.

If you consistently apply the following 3 steps, you'll notice a big improvement in your songwriting:

1. Gather as much information about your song idea as possible.

Once you've come up with an idea for your song, write down (or type) all related information.

For example:

Song Type (ex. love song, inspirational song, up-tempo, etc.)

Song's Title

Your objective (what you wish to accomplish with the song)

The message you are trying to bring across to your listeners

Emotion you are trying to evoke in your listeners

...and so on

2. Command your "subconscious mind" to help you with your objective.

With the information you have in front of you, give your subconscious mind a direct command.

For example:
If you're a lyricist, just before you start reading what's in front of you, say something like:

      "Subconscious mind, create powerful lyrics
with the information I'm about to read.
Work on it 24 hours a day...even as I sleep."

(If you're given a melody to write lyrics to, say the following just before listening to the melody: "Subconscious mind, create powerful lyrics for the melody I'm about to listen to. Work on it 24 hours a day...even as I sleep.")

If you're a lyricist/composer, just before you start reading what's before you, say something like:

"Subconscious mind, create a powerful song
with the information I'm about to read.
Work on it 24 hours a day...even as I sleep."

(With that last command, you're basically instructing your subconscious mind to come up with both the lyrics and melody...the "perfect marriage" of both.)

Now, if you happen to be a composer, you could also benefit from this technique.

Just place the finished lyrics in front of you and say something like:

"Subconscious mind, create a powerful melody
for the lyrics I'm about to read. Work
on it 24 hours a day...even as I sleep."

(If you simply want to create a beautiful melody from scratch, just apply Steps 1 to 3. Of course, in Step 1, some of the information mentioned...ex. song's title or message you are trying to bring across...are not completely necessary. However, as a rule, the more information you have, the better. What's important is that your subconscious mind has enough information to work with...and it knows exactly what you are trying to accomplish.)

(Note: You're free to create your own version of the above commands. Also, you can give the commands either aloud or silently in your head.)

It's even a good idea to apply this step before going to sleep, whenever possible.

3. Let it go. Think or do something else...anything else.
In other words, "trust" your subconscious mind to deliver...by getting out of its way.

This is a crucial step. In fact, this is the key to this technique's effectiveness. Without honestly applying this step, you will not get the positive results you're after.

What you do is you simply "allow" your subconscious mind to carry out your instructions... without questioning it... without interfering in any way.

In other words, you take your mind off the song by taking a short break...or even a nap. Or you sleep on it...and work on it the next day (the truth is, some writers take days or weeks off before actually writing). Basically, you want to give your subconscious mind enough time to work on what you've instructed it to do. (Many creative people call this the "incubation" phase of the creative process.)

When you do this, you'll notice that when you sit down to actually start writing, thoughts or ideas come to you more naturally...and in a more organized way. You'll notice a better flow to your writing overall. (This is because your subconscious mind has done a lot of the work for you...in the background...while you were busy doing other things...or while you were sleeping.)

(If you're a composer, melodic or musical ideas will naturally come to you...and sometimes it will happen when you least expect it. That's why it's a good idea to always have a tape recorder or digital voice recorder handy...so you can sing the melody and record it.)

And what's the end result of applying the above 3 steps (after all the editing)?

A powerfully moving song.

source : http://www.ArticleGeek.com

Effect of Online Gaming ...

Online Gaming is as Addictive as Heroin

By: Paul Wilson

Gaming is big business but it has its downside. People have died from gaming and the world is recognizing that game addiction is serious and spreading fast. Mental health professionals opine that gaming can destroy lives, keep students from focusing on learning, workers from working, and women from their duties. There are instances where gamers have not left home for years.

Games like EverQuest, Dark Age of Camelot, and others are popularly referred to as heroinware. And symptoms of addiction according to Computer Addiction Services at McLean Hospital are: obsession with the game; inability to stop; neglect of family and work; lying to hide activity; problems with studies and work; health problems, muscular as well as vision related; neglect of personal hygiene; as well as sleep disturbances.

The games provide social interaction to lonely people, gamers gain acknowledgement as well as power denied elsewhere due to their gaming expertise, and the game weaves a spell on the mind-one gets so absorbed by the virtual realities that it is hard to get away.

The addiction is so real that it requires intensive therapy. Treatment programs include: behavioral therapy, anti-depressants, as well as prescription drugs.

Not all agree that gaming is addictive. MIT's Games-to-Teach project manager opines that games sharpen critical thinking, improve social skills, and increase empathy. Many others do agree that games inspire imagination, creativity, and team work.

However, the problem is real and countries world over are taking measures. China has set up a clinic in Beijing for net-frazzled addicts to be treated with sports, acupuncture, and medication. The inmates according to the clinic's director have: depression, nervousness, fear, interaction problems, panic, agitation, shaking and numb hands, as well as sleep disorders. Gaming is a serious problem in Korea --- 1-2% of South Korea's online gamers are addicts. The government is taking steps and requesting game developers to create advisory patches to alert gamers to the impeding dangers.

A hard core gamer is one who is completely absorbed by his online fantasy, he isolates himself from family and friends, lets everyday activities fall by the wayside, spends over 16-20 hours a day playing the game and games at work, at home, and while on the road. Gaming becomes his whole life, a thirst that is never quenched.

Treatment is long and hard and like other addictions the first stage is the most difficult, getting the gamer to acknowledge that he or she has a problem. Addicts find it extremely painful to "kill" the characters of the game and to erase /destroy the software. Most are unable to "keep away" and return to the game addictively. Studies indicate that hard core players are often neurotic, shy, have emotional as well as behavioral issues, and problems in the home environment.

To overcome the addiction, the player must consider and analyze the issues underlying the game-it is the question of power, social standing, respect, and emotions.

Gaming is set to become a global epidemic and needs immediate attention as well as solutions.

Youtube Phenomenon

If you browse the web, you'll come across many websites that has one or more video clips embedded in it. News websites such as BBC and CNN fall in this category. But, what about a website that has only video clips and nothing else? This is exactly what the Youtube Phenomenon is all about. To those who have not heard about Youtube, it is a video sharing website where one could upload, share, and watch video clips - Youtube videos - for free. It is owned by Google.

Here is a bit history of what all went behind in the making of Youtube.com. Little had the three former PayPal employees - Chad Hurley, Jawed Karim, and Steve Chen - anticipated about the growth and fame Youtube would achieve in less than one year since its inception, when they first planned such a video sharing website. An out-of-the box idea, Youtube.com was launched as an unknown new website on February 15, 2005 with virtually no promotion. The website with its full features become operational few month later; the first preview of the website was offered in May 2005 and its official debut in November the same year. As it had been with many great path breaking projects in the past, the incubation days of Youtube took place in a modest garage in California, much like its present owner's - Google - beginnings, who started their journey from a leased space in a Menlo Park garage in 1998.

The beginnings of Youtube was pretty modest and its creators more than once at least went through a cash crunch as the visitors to the website grew and the need for better infrastructure and technology became inevitable. Irony it may be that the first helping hand they got which had pulled them out of the financial crisis was that of the venture capital firm Sequoia, the very same firm that had funded Google in its early years. Sequoia invested $3.5 million initially in Youtube, the stake which they upped to $8 million few months later, realizing the vast potential Youtube.com has in the fast growing world of infotainment in the near future.

Another development that had immensely helped catapulting Youtube into the forefront of online entertainment industry came from rather unexpected quarters, in the form of new software tool - the Flash Player 8 by Macromedia - that enabled people to view Youtube videos directly from their web browsers without having to download it into their PCs and view it with the help of third party software programs such as Windows Media Player or RealOne Player. In fact, it not only eliminated the need to view downloaded files in third party tools, but also provided a far improved video quality than its predecessor, Flash Player 7. Had it not been for the new Flash Player, the Flash Player 8, it is unlikely that Youtube.com would have taken off this fast, in such a short span of time.

As of today, Youtube.com, under the umbrella of Google, is the fastest growing video website in the globe and the 10th most popular amongst all websites in the cyberspace, according to the latest Alexa ratings. Nearly 100 million video clips from Youtube are seen by netizens daily and around 65,000 new Youtube videos are added every day into the database. The number of netizens visiting Youtube every month is thought to be anywhere near 20 million. No wonder, Youtube.com is described not as a website, but as a phenomenon by market experts.

Author Bio
Wirnik - owner of www.TopYouTubeVideos.com : Most amazing YouTube videos on Earth.

by : Andre Jones

Does Mozilla Firefox better than others ?

Well .... i just want to share my experience using web browser for couple years and still continue.

As my computer always connect to internet 24 hours a day, my PC had hard time to defend against threats, viruses, worms, etc. Beside good anti virus, you need good browser too and from my personal view, Mozilla is the best. WHY ?

Any browsers maybe have spam blocker, pop up blocker but Mozilla have advantage that other browsers didn't have, add on called WOT which provide website ratings while searching the Internet.

Many computer users do not know how to identify or recognize reliable internet conteng. Surfers get protected by WOT, a system that provides a rating for each website you visit on the Internet. WOT will mark each website with a green circle if the website is a healthy, rather than harmful site. A red circle warns us not to open a site. These are malicious sites that harvest information or cause harm. More than 16 million sites are classified by WOT. Download the Mozila browser and surf the web with confidence.

Happy Surfing :)

About BLOGGING

I knew about blog only about a few days from now, but i think it's amazing to express your feeling and all over the world can see it :)

After read articles about blogging by George Markos, i want to have that "blog" too someday =)

A couple of years ago, I tossed the idea around in my mind of creating a blog. But for some reason, I thought that people used blogs for hobby sites and such.

It took a while for me to realize that a well-built blog site can be beneficial to my affiliate marketing programs.

My blog is strictly dedicated to marketing internet tools, tips, and information. I try to keep it current by writing and posting relevant articles to share with others.

Also, reviewing free articles from other authors and publishing them in my blog gives me a chance to share diverse ideas and experiences. I don’t want my visitors to be stuck with just my opinions alone so I like to introduce other points of view as well.

Basic Traits of a Great Blog

1. A blog should be well organized.

2. A blog should be relevant to your affiliate marketing programs.

3. No crazy colors or fonts. Make it easy for the eyes to read.

4. Keep your blog up to date with interesting content.

5. Don’t overload it with banner ads. I use one banner at the bottom of the page.

6. Introduce a section for links to your affiliate programs.

7. Affiliate links should open in a new window so visitors can return easily.

8. See that your visitors have a way to leave comments or suggestions.

9. Create a link back to your business site.

Another important tip is to sign up with as many affiliate marketing forums as you can stand. Doing so will allow you network with other affiliates, exchange tools, tips and information.

More importantly, it gives you a chance to spread the word around about your blog and business site. You can do a Google or Yahoo search for forums that are relevant to your marketing niche

Having more eyes on your business site equals more traffic possibilities. Best of all…it’s FREE! Everybody loves free stuff. Free advertising is no exception.

Since you’re already reading this, I shouldn’t have to stress how advantageous writing relevant articles are and submitting them to article submission sites. Submitting articles gives you a chance to express your views, submit ideas and show your level of expertise about the subject matter.

It also gives you a chance to mention your blog or business site link in the author’s bio section just in case your readers want to check it out.

Again, it’s FREE! Everybody loves free stuff. Free site exposure is no exception.

My point is that blogs are not just for hobbies anymore. When properly used, it can be another low-cost avenue for your affiliate marketing regimen.

Have A Great Day.
George Markos

source : http://www.articlesbase.com/

Privacy Policy

Multimedia Yard Privacy Statement

What follows is the Privacy Statement for all Multimedia Yard including all the websites run under the http://www.blogger.com domain.

Please read this statement regarding our blogs.
